"When the engine is turned off and the belt is taken off, I noticed that I can manually spin/move all of the pulleys except for the crankshaft pulley. Is this normal, or should the crankshaft be easy to spin as well? The engine in question is a K20A engine. Thank you."
Crank pulley is attached to the crank shaft it only moves when the engines on. But if the pulley wobbles or has play or is misaligned with the other pulleys it’s bad and needs to be replaced because it will wreck the belt and can cause the other pulleys to run hot with a misaligned belt.
If you hear see or feel something is off don’t run or drive the car it can be fixed but ignoring it will make it worse. My car had a bad crank shaft pulley it started to walk itself off the engine and it made the belt get miss aligned and started to chew through the belt. Once I noticed this I shut my car off just left it parked at my house until I could get it towed. The shop fixed it with a new belt and pulley and a new crankshaft bolt.
My opel corsa is losing power and i suspect the crankshaft pulley, I've changed tps , timing belt and idling sensor nothing changed but now will look for this culprit then if is intact il check the spark plugs but engine spit water that might means is in good shape
Whenever I turn on my AC i get a battery warning and all my electronics (power steering, horn, etc.) Dies. After 2-3 days I started getting sound from the car(cracking sound). On visiting the mechanic he said the crank shaft pulley and belt is damaged. Which it was, Belt was split into 2 and pulley was bad. Replaced it and my sound issue and AC issue both resolved. I can understand that sound is fixed but can someone help me understand how the AC issue was fixed with this. As per my understanding there should be no relation of AC with crank pulley.
I am having the exact same issue It is currently in the shop as I type I go pick it up in a few hours I’m having the crank puller replaced because I already changed the A/C compressor and the alternator before bringing it to the shop one time when I turned my A/C on while looking under the hood the belt on the pulleys stopped 🛑 turning I’m hoping my problems will be fixed when driving I could feel my steering wheel getting tighter and hard to turn and like you said the battery light comes on hopefully this fixes it.
I’m kinda mechanic savvy one day I turned my car on and heard an awful sound popped the hood and saw the belt was robbing turned the car off right away. I loosened the belt tensioners got the belt off and saw the crank pulley moved outwards a bit misaligning the belt it even chewed through the belt there was a slit in the belt. Got the car towed to a shop they replaced the crank pulley put on a new belt and now everything is fine again.
So the bolt holding my pulley came out completely and the pulley itself spun off causing the belts to get all tangled. Luckily it all happened within 5-7 seconds. I’m just waiting on a new bolt. Is it a matter of just putting it back on or does it have to be aligned somehow?
@@michaels3951 yes my car had the same problem engine was fine it was the pulley that was bad. It destroyed my belt so I had the car towed to a shop they fixed the pulley and put on a new belt

It's normal. You need a wrench to turn over that pulley
@kalani1987 thank you man, bless 😇🙏🏼

@ryans413 Thank you sir 😇😊
@@Dweeno no problem my car had this issue got a new pulley I had to get the car towed to a shop but it’s all fixed and working again so I’m happy

When you turn your AC on, your AC compressor connects to your engine (it has its own pulley) and gives it more load

Can you do a video on Honda accord 2001 v6 j30a1 please
@carproblems i have a rattle when accelerating could it be the crank pulley? Look at a short i posted it shows clearly

Just make sure you torque it to spec and check for damage on the pulley
Did you figure it out?? My camry is doing the the same thing , is it harmonic balancer?

Try 720 bucks for a crankshaft pulley on a qx80
Lol anyone stupid enough to pay that much for infiniti parts deserve it for buying such a shitty vehicle. I get oem parts for my bmw cheaper😂
YeA ,, price is 4 times that dude!
