FYI, it won't burn the drive. I have done many tests with similar products and the only reason they have done this is because the USB C to A adapters are not really reversible as USB C is.... that means that if you plug it the wrong way it will still work, but at USB 2.0 speeds, that's the worst it can happen 😉
How much does it heat up? I've heard complaints about the Samsung T7 getting really hot and this WD Passport is performing just as well as that Samsung. How was your experience on this while testing it out?
Does this thing have a proprietary interface on the internal drive? I am super gunshy on WD external products in totality from back when 2.5" wd my passport external hdds were popular and the USB port broke... You shuck the drive enclosure only to find a proprietary drive interface so you can't even plug a SATA -> USB adapter... Never again.
if the device has a usb port where you can plug it, it should run you will have to reformat the drive to fat32 or ext4 to be recognized and usable for android, android if doesn't like the format it has out of the box, will tell you, and ask you to reformat it or will reformat it for you, remember that reformat will make you lose everything you have stored in there, so format it first, then put the files in the wd ssd after the format process if you choose to format it as fat32, you will have a limit of maximum 4gbs in size files, very important for movies that often weight 5 or more gbs, so if you can use it as ext4, better
Had my eye on this as I'm in the market for an SSD. Very timely review!
Can d. Ram comes (inbuild) with this wd passport size ssd??
How about G-Drive Armorlock SSD with phone unlocl feature?
What is better ,
The SanDisk 4TB Extreme Portable SSD or the WD 4TB My Passport SSD External Portable Solid State Drive ?

Could you do a review of Ravpower products?

Why take the chance with an adapter that can burn anything out with a standard cable? If so throw these out and get a dedicated c to a cable.
The is no risk of burning anything, see my other comment explaining why they do it this way....

These are usually just an m.2 nvme stick inside a case
Will this run on Android

Does it support an Android tablet?
yes although some might require formatting if they don't support exFAT
Thanks for the timely review! Just purchased the WD 2TB using your link.
There is a nvme ssd inside with edaptor
given the speed it would have to be
In my country this is double the price. Probably due to tax. Yikes!
or buy an nvme drive of your choice and find an enclosure for it....
