A lovely stretch of coast to explore and bivy Gerry, looked lovely! Your laughter and joy with your new purchase was infectious, I hope it stays in working order for a long time to come!! 🤩 Great you eventually escaped those flies…they seemed pretty intent on whatever their mission was 😮 You’re some man to see out the rain in a bivy so willingly!! 👏 See you in the next video wherever you bring us!
Cheers Miriam👍 I have great hopes for my newest (and best) pillow😊 I think their mission was to slowly and surely send my head away and it was a relief to leave them behind. It was just a few hours of showers and I was well tucked up in the bivy, though it was worth it for the sky clearing after to reveal all the stars😊 The North Antrim Coast is pretty special and it was cool to spend mu=y first night there - I had been hankering since watching Colin and his wild camps there.
🌲🏕 Another captivating adventure in the scenic Antrim Coastline! 🚶♂🌊 The stunning views and delightful wild camping experience make this trip truly memorable. 🏞🌟 Your genuine excitement over the £2 pillow was priceless, and I hope it brings you many more comfortable nights under the stars. 🛏😄 Thanks for sharing this beautiful journey with us, Gerry! Looking forward to your next exciting outing! 👏🎥🌌
The North Antrim Coast is just stunning and that was the first time I had camped anywhere along its length and it was a great experience. I am always on the lookout for a bargain and I think that pillow was one alright, it worked well on this and my most recent trip👍 Thank you for your kind comments😊
Class as always, I hope your pillow serves you well. Can't beat a bargain like that. Those flies are far worse than midges, they would drive you demented. It was good to see you back out again 👍
Peregrine, buzzard and hen harrier country Gerry. Wild goats too! lol Too warm!!! lol I hate flies!!!!!! Terrific footage once again. Oh dear RAIN! As always Gerry. Take care!
Cheers Tom👍 It is a great landscape for birds of prey. I have seen the wild goats when I was walking along the base of the cliffs many years ago🐐😊 It has been hard to get 1 or 2 days of settled weather the past month though I didn't do too bad getting a soaking right at the end🌧😊
Beautiful Gerry! Wonderful section of coastline! The basalt cliffs are impressive- lovely variety of views! Loved seeing all the wildflowers, they seem brave and strong to be out there in the wind! Great camping spot on the bluff with views of the lighthouses. We’d love to camp the are hear the surf down below. Glad you escaped those tenacious flies! 😄👍💚💙
Jennifer, it is a wonderful section of coastline with those cliffs👍 and it was a cool spot to camp for the night looking out over the sea. Our summer has been pretty dreadful so far with wind and rain a constant🌧 so hopefully we are due a change soon.
Another magical camp-spot there Gerry - it's incredible how you can almost that corner of the island to yourself when you see how stunning it is. And that peaty water, are you sure that wasn't whiskey!
Cheers 👍 It was a great camp spot with stunning views. It was pretty windy and there were a few showers coming through, though it was pretty good considering the never ending unsettled summer we have had. There were a few people up at the cliffs though they left as it neared sunset and I was probably the only person up there that evening and night😊 That peaty water made into freshly brewed tea is far better than any whiskey😊
Beautifully filmed as always. Spectacular views of Rathlin and the West coast of Scotland. Thanks for sharing your adventure Gerry. Loving the £2 Tesco pillow 😊
Cheers Richard👍 I am loving the £2 pillow too (so far as me and pillows do not have a good history!) It was a great wee spot to camp with those views. I was a wee bit worried as it can be a busy place for walkers though left it quite late and was away early in the morning which worked out well👍
Love the coast of Ireland! Awesome that you had the area all to yourself! Beautiful expansive views of the ocean and delicate little flower buds! All around fabulous trip and video! 💚💚🌟🌟- Jen
Cheers Jennifer👍 The coast is hard to beat and that is a particularly fine example - good enough for Game of Thrones😊 It was great to spend the night on top of the cliffs looking out to sea, washes all the worries away👍
Hi Gerry. Don't know what was the funniest, the big flyers, the peaty tea or the two pound pillow 😅. Nice spot to bivvy down 👍 with lovely views of the night lights. Looking forward to your next outing. All the best 👌
Cheers Andrew👍 it was a lovely spot with the views over to Rathlin and the lights of the lighthouses and when the sky cleared after the showers it was awesome😊 Those flies were a total nightmare and I think it was the size of them with having to battle with the tiny midge usually
Another incredible coast line gerry. This time with a wonderful forest to sooth the soul - apart from the flies maybe. I gotta say you bivvy in the most varied of places and impressive. This was no exception. Ha, a cheep pillow making the difference to proceedings. A reasonably comfortable night then? At least no rain until later thankfully. You timed that well. Good going. Have a great week ahead. Mark
Cheers Mark👍 There is so much to wonder at along the North Antrim Coast, including the world famous Giants Causeway, though I would much rather have these quiet majestic cliffs😊 Have a great week👍
Cheers Alan👍 Fair Head is an amazing place that has held a fascination for many a year. I have made the journey along its base (tortuously) from Ballycastle to Murlough on a few occasions (before access at the Ballycastle side was closed) which was an amazing experience. So beautiful from above and below👍
Thank you👍 There is just so much happening in that landscape and it is a fantastic place to explore and it was great to get to spend a night wild camping😊
Hey Gerry, once again, fantastic video. I've only been once to the Antrim Coastline, but to see those views I definitely need to return there for a wild camp. Great camp spot as well, I'm always fascinated how you manage to get a good night sleep with this minimalistic sleeping gear 😅
Cheers Christian👍 The North Antrim Coast is spectacular along its length - the Causeway Coast Path is one I haven't done and would make for a great 2 day adventure. It was pretty breezy though I did eventually find a spot above the cliffs with a view. I don't always get a good nights sleep, whether in the tent or the bivy as there is usually something to cause discomfort - the wind, the cold, the midges or deflating pillows😊 A good night's sleep is like gold dust though it is cool to keep waking and looking out at what surrounds me in the middle of the night😊 A good sleeping mat and sleep bag go a long way to providing comfort and warmth especially outside of the summer months.
Ya the little fly's dont we all love them 😂 Really great adventure love those shots of the beautiful surroundings like a little glimps of the beauty available around you. Great purchase less is more sometimes heheh. Thank you Gerry see you on the trail 🧡😊
Cheers👍 Those flies were insufferable!! Apart from that it was a cool micro adventure revisiting well trodden ground and having a first wild camp there. I do think the pillow was a good buy and does the job of something x 10 more expensive😊 See you on the trail👍
Cheers Bernard (and the old fella)😊 Happy that you both enjoyed coming along. I can imagine that south-west to north-west would make the longest line of a journey on the island👍
Brilliant video as always Gerry. Loved the hare bells at the start of the video....my favourite wild flower. Laughed with you at your new purchase and what the money you parted with to purchase it. Familiar with the Antrim Coast and Rathlin Island. Absolutely stunning scenery. From the port town, but reside in Donegal now. Thankyou for taking us on an adventure with you!!
Cheers Siobhan👍 I love those wild flowers that you find along the coast. I have high hopes for that pillow😊 Rathlin is definitely on my list for a wild camp. The Antrim Coast and Donegal are 2 pretty special places to be familiar with👍
Another fine Bivy and coastline Gerry. They flies looked mental. Just like oor midges. Cannae beat a bargain pillow. 😉 My ebay cheapo has done well for years.

Hey Gerry, camped out at dunseverik couple of years ago and seen the same light, I didn't realize it was rathland lighthouse though, have you ever camped there Gerry?...great video as always.😊
Cheers George👍 I haven't camped at Dunseverik though it sounds like a good spot , as well as plenty of other places along the North Antrim Coast👍 Lighthouses are pretty cool in the daylight and even more so at night.
@@gerrymcveigh Thanks for the reply gerry, there's a great wee stretch to camp on the right hand side of the harbour but I would go there off season and mid-week and you'll have the place to yourself with the car a stone's throw away in the harbour car -park......anyways be seeing ye.👍
If that was last Wednesday I was down fishing at Ballintoy, didn't catch anything though😊 Peaty mountain water is definitely the best👍 It was a great spot to camp with those views out to Rathlin. The bivy gives way more flexibility than a tent (in my opinion) though the bivy is so light that I usually carry both and then decide what will work best😊
@@gerrymcveigh I must have walked right past you if that was you walking , my daughter said is that your man from youtube 😂. By the time I realised you were away up the road . (was just at the house that’s on the corner )
Hi buddy i love your channel. At the 47 second on your video you show a great viewpoint. I was just wondering how to get up there as im a photographer from Belfast and id like to get up and shoot
Cheers Chris👍 I parked in a rough carpark at the top of the road just before it descends steeply down to Murlough Bay. It is just a matter of walking up along the cliff tops to the east for 5 minutes or so, though there are signs saying that there is no public access or right of way. These signs are quite new as I have walked up along there numerous times in the past towards Torr Head.
@@gerrymcveigh I was there on Friday night and all day Saturday. Im making a youtube video about it too, though mine is more about photography. Thanks for the tips, those cliffs are beautiful up there, I still couldnt find that big stone stack that lkooks like its from the Causeway though but I had a blast anyway
I started off with an old army bivy that someone gave me and this got me into using a bivy, even though it was way too big and not entirely waterproof😊 I bought an Alpkit Hunka bivy having read reviews - it only costs £60 and is waterproof and weighs next too nothing so I often take a tent and a bivy so as I have the choice depending on the weather and the midges. The only thing with the Hunka is it isn't big enough to take a sleeping mat inside, which is grand for warmer and dry weather - I also bought a Hunka XL (about the same price) which can take the sleeping mat inside and I have been using this pretty much ever since. There are other bivys which have a hoop and are closed in which cost more. I find the Hunka is wind and waterproof (can handle showers fine though would use the tent if more rain was forecast) and with a good sleeping mat and bag I can be warm enough even in freezing temps. With the right weather it is hard to beat it for flexibility and having that exposure to the elements whilst still being warm and dry. Hope this helps.
