Cracking place! haven't been there forever and you showed the great character of it. Think you need to wind shield that gas stove! lol... great views from the cliff tops - keep safe. Sinco.
A bit different than your usual walks Gerry. I'll call this one is a 'seaside' walk. Hey it must really be warm -you have the hat off! Beautiful scenery. Love the lower reaches in the hidden wooded area. Love this coastline. Spectacular! I haven't been back at the Grey Man's Path in decades. The last time we were there we spotted a hen harrier after we got up and away over past the top. We had already watched a peregrine pair pass a dead pigeon one to the other! Wow! Memories!
Tom. it is a magical place that i visit a couple of times a year. Forgot my hat and got the head and neck burnt off me, even though the wind was baltic : -) Fantastic memories :-) Take care.
Cheers Rod, all on lockdown all over now and advice not to go walking in the hills at all. very local it is for the next weeks or months. Stay safe :-)
Stunning Gerry, and great footage from the GoPro, honestly your videos have a peaceful tranquility about them that's so intrinsically enticing, thank you.
Cheers, only the second time I have filmed entirely with the GoPro as my main camera was getting repaired, There is definitely something really special about that stretch of cast around Fairhead and Murlough Bay 😊
Loved this, I know the woods under the Fair head side really well so was cool to see the other side of the bay, will be checking that Beech wood out for a brew as soon as we're allowed out again 😊 Keep safe and thanks for sharing 👍
Fantastic explore gerry. Them cliffs are impressive punctuated by some awesome fairy woods. Well, not sure what else to call them but I know how magical they can be. A big giant playing bowls for sure - would probably make it easy up that gap. Then again he wouldn't fit - he'd have to go sideways. Yeah beautiful area-amazing shapes on coast. Thanks gerry that was a good one. Stay safe over there. Mark
Cheers Mark, Finn McCool is the giant that hung about in these parts as legend would have it :-) Not much exploring to be done here in the coming weeks (except very local) with the current situation, though will increase the desire to resume when allowed. Stay safe yourself :-)
@@gerrymcveigh Finn sounds like a friendly giant to me gerry the type to ant to play bowls. Ha ha! Yeah, let's hope for a resolution - sad for the losses though. Peace mate.
Brilliant video Gerry, the last time I was up grey man's path must have been 16-17 years ago with the Rathenraw youth club. How long did that trek take you to complete?
Wow, did Sharon climb up with you ;-) It's not too long from the Murlough Bay end if just head straight down to the shoreline and the base of the cliffs. Probably a couple of hours would do it. Always a wee bit more difficult in summer with plant growth covering more of the boulders, easier in spring :-)
Hi Gerry - this looks like a great walk, I am trying to "follow along" at home using the Glens of Antrim Activity map to trace your route. What mapping software do you use when you show the routes at the end of the video? Do you use paper maps / GPS or or an app to navigate with?
Hi Andrew, I use View Ranger (soon to disappear into the Outdoor Active app which isn't as good by some accounts) which uses NI OS 1:50000 mapping. It is handy as you can plan/record routes and also zoom in on the map when using phone. Great for ease of use, though tech isn't infallible and paper maps are always a good back up😊
Sadly the first part of this walk (first set of cliffs past the beautiful beech forest) has been plastered with the generic and mass produced 'no access no right of way' signs that have sprung up all over Northern Ireland recently it seems. Probably done because too many people are bringing dogs up into the area and causing issues with the sheep since the pandemic. Easy to bypass but a shame really.
That is a shame as it is a beautiful area to walk. There are access issues on the Ballycastle side of Fair Head along the coast to the cliffs which is one of my favourite walks. Hopefully the pressures on the countryside will ease as other avenues for holidays open up. I have never met another person walking along those first set of cliffs, though that has obviously changed.
Such a stunning place there Gerry so much beauty
A place close to my heart, thanks Gerry. Take care and stay well
Great share as always Gerry ..... it’s a wonderful part of the country , near tire of the views around there 👍👍take care !
Thank you so much for showing the beauty that is Ireland.
Cheers Shirley, it is just great to be able to walk in and explore such beautiful places :-)

David, that wood is a magical place :-)
Excellent video Gerry! Ireland has a very unique landscape. Most beautiful - love it.
Cheers Matt, it definitely has a unique and beautiful landscape :-)

Hey, thank you for sub. I already had subbed your channel 🙌👌
Looked class gerry. ryt wee dander there lol
Nice one! Do you have any experience with camping there? I have found some forum comments it's forbidden but post was quite old.
I would think that if you set up camp late and left early no one would know on the top of FairHead itself, obviously leaving no trace.
