    Ergonomically correct door handle compared to the factory one, very important for those with hand and arm motion issues.

    You should do a collaboration series with Lock picking lawyer to test various RV locks to see which ones give you the best protection without any major design flaws.

      I was thinking something similar. LPL needs to test this lock and see if it's really as secure as it claims to be on the box. I imagine that he would find it's not. 😄 As far as a collaboration goes, It would be a match made in heaven given that neither one ever shows their face and the only thing you ever see in the video is hands.

      Door locks are for “honest” crooks. I imagine professionals can defeat any RV door lock with no problem. I look at these as something that is a convenience and in this case the outside handle is easier to use.

    When my RVLock died on me, I decided to give the Global Ultra a try based on your video. Easy install and it does seem to be very well-made. But, a few weeks later, here’s what I found/dislike: 1. On my RV, a Grand Design Solitude with magnets to hold the door open, the door handle prevents the magnets from touching…about a 2 inch gap when the door is fully open. 2. If I understand correctly, Lippert entry doors are bowed out slightly in the center so that you get a good seal all around when closed. Unfortunately, this places a small amount of force on the outside face of the door latch. When trying to open the door, it can take abit of force to unlatch the door. When I first discovered this, I was convinced the door was locked. It is a bit more difficult to open the door when the stairs are stowed…it is easier once thstairs are in place and I am standing on them. So, very nice, well-built product, but I am going to be trying something else.

    We have had one of these for four years now, and I am going to change the battery this spring when we get our 5er out of winter storage. We still haven't had to change the battery! We do not have the Bluetooth version. When you think of a PIN, use a 5 digit PIN, the first digit wakes it up the next four unlock the door, problem solved.
    Since we have had ours, there has been absolutely no fading of the number buttons like gets talked about with other brands. We are still very happy with ours.

    I personally like the deadbolt having a physical deadbolt for when you’re travelling like just in case the latch didn’t latch all the way, if you hold in on the latch will it let you lock the deadbolt? Also I noticed it has two keyholes on the outside, If you lock them both do you lose your ability to unlock the Bluetooth and the code?

    • @Squanto9

      Yes, I agree. I like having the added security of an actual deadbolt for travel. Do both of the external keyhole do something or is one just for show?

    Cheap RV’s flex while going down the road so we’ve had our door open if not using the deadbolt because it’s longer than the regular door latch. I’d rather have a true deadbolt.

    Great addition to the RV. I wish someone would make a keyless/Bluetooth lock/latch that replaces the Bauer BP-29 Euro style lock/latch. Bauer told me two years ago they were working on it but it has never surfaced.

    You used a camera mount and didn't do this all one handed. I'm out of here! lol. I'm diggin that pull handle. That seems like it would be more ergonomic. I have the RVLock on my fifth wheel and the keypad is starting to peel away. I may consider this as an upgrade. I'd be interested in an update in a few months. I know my RVLock catch starts to get stiff and I have to lube it with white lithium grease every so often. The screws that hold it together also failed and I had to swap them out for stainless steel.

    Great solution to standard manufacture handle/lock. I wish i could find another lock for our travel trailer, beyond the one that came on it. Getting ready to order the 7th lock in 8 years. The opening height of mine is bigger the what see as standard. I contacted the rv manufacturer and they just referred back to the handle manufacturer. I even reached out to etrailer and they did not have a replacement for my opening. 😢

    If it's bluetooth, it should just have a proximity lock. I don't like that you have to go into the app and navigate to a screen, then manually lock or unlock it. It should just lock once your phone is out of range and then unlock when it's in range.

    i installed the touch pad entry door latch and it is complete junk. the reviewer in this review missed two big issues, and one of those he got completely wrong. 1. the battery doesn't last any reasonable amount of time. in storage mode, i got about 30 days. daily use, i got no more than 3 days. As i installed this while it was in storage, the warranty period was ticking away (my fault, i now). BY the time i got it out of storage, researched the issue; time was up. I got an earlier revision of the latch which was known to have this issue....... no replacement for me even though this is a manufacture issue. 2. the handle pull in the review is made to look very easy, and he states how easy it is. WRONG! you have to insure tension is off the striker plate and then pull. very easy then. My wife and daughter have to use one hand to take tension off and the other hand to pull the handle. No matter how much adjusting was done, same result. he did use his thumb to keep pressure off the striker plate, but my wife is too short to stand on the ground and do that. Love this channel, and will continue to watch it, but he got this one flat wrong.

    I’m a little concerned about this video because you’re basically creating a 30A to 50A long ‘dogbone’ by installing that jumper in the smartplug. I’m guessing that you’re afraid of someone stealing your dogbone at the pedestal end? You didn’t show the plug end of the cable but I assume its the standard 30A ‘Y’ kind.

    • @BigTruckBigRV
      @BigTruckBigRV  8 месяцев назад

      The cable was already a 30 to 50amp cable. I replaced the 50amp side with the SmartPlug. Like anything dealing with electricity, you just need to watch the current you pull through the cable..
