Also Emily... My husband is trying to lose weight and is self conscious. I told him that I'll love him at any size and he said "Nah... you can't know that..." and I'm like "You were skinny when we met 17 years ago and you're not skinny now... pretty sure I've loved you at all sizes in that range." To which he said "I don't see any proof..."
And I yelled, "OBJECTION!!! I HAVE DEMONSTRATIVES!!!" and he stopped in his tracks and just goes "What the fuck does that even mean???"
And I said "I have photographic proof! I still have my first picture I took of you at Wendy's. I have 17 YEARS WORTH OF PHOTOS.... I.... have.... demonstratives... that I have loved you at every size.... SIR!!!"

I've just sold my dream home after a divorce - it's really the only home I've had in a long time, and I've just moved into my own little townhouse. My family lives on the other side of the world and the move has been scary and overwhelming (especially as someone with diagnosed ADHD) to do all alone. Having your trial streams on while I was packing a month ago, and now while I'm unpacking, is helping it feel like I'm still home, just home somewhere else. Thank you.

Unfortunately, especially in smaller towns where there may be less crime, first officers behavior at crime scenes can be very different. My boyfriend called in a violent SA we came across that was in progress. The cops that came were male and female. Whenever a man tried to get near her she (the victim) became hysterical. She wouldn’t even get in the ambulance because the EMT’s were two rather large men. The male police officer became angry that she would get hysterical whenever he came near and rather than letting his female partner take the lead threatened to arrest her if she didn’t calm down. I think non-standard happens a lot especially in lower crime areas.

No wonder this trial will last so long!! 3 days that they will probably end early. 2 1/2 days. If I was a juror I would be annoyed!! 😮

I don’t know if the logs are important, per se, but this definitely seems like a lot of reasonable doubt. (And yes, I absolutely agree that this plays well with the defense’s opening statement.)

Agreed. to me it seems common for everyone to have called in at different times (parking the car, turning onto the street, etc) and I'm not sure if the times are reported by the cop themselves (each may have a different clock) or the dispatcher. The log itself isn't strong evidence for me, however I see the strategy to keep introducing doubt as much as possible.

The fact that nobody ever came out of the house would suggest that the people in the house already knew what had happened and were just trying to avoid the police. And the fact that the police never went in the house suggests to me either that the police had already agreed to avert their focus from the house (maybe the owner had already called them and told them what to do?), or were at least aware of who lived there and wanted to protect one of their own - he's a policeman, right? I thought I heard that, but I haven't been paying enough attention.
I think even if the jury somehow agrees that Karen caused this, the prosecution will never be able to prove premeditation on her part, so she'll be found "not guilty" no matter what. They never should have charged her that way. They should've just gone with "vehicular manslaughter" or something and let the judge decide on how harsh the sentence should be (assuming that's how it works there). Though I think there's plenty of evidence that points away from her entirely, like the lack of blood at the scene vs. what was lost from the body, the google search (assuming it took place at the time that the Defense claims), and the marks on the arms.

The Canton chief of police at the time (he was out on medical leave though) who lived across the street from 34 Fairview spoke to media and asked them not to publish the homeowner's name. So it's not a stretch to think officers averted their focus.

I can get behind at first the person was being treated and got out of there to a hospital, but I would think after talking to ladies who were there, you go knock on the house and ask if they saw anything, if they have any video surveillance, what time people came in and out and if they saw anything. When we have snow storms, we all are very much checking out the windows looking at the winds and accumulation, judging if its what they forecasted, how much this will affect our plans tomorrow or the next day. If i see neighbors out shoveling or snow blowing during a storm, especially the elderly, we go out and make sure they are ok and help them - it's usually odd for ppl to be out during those storms, esp with winds. Granted it was early hours and ppl sleeping but usually I'm up going to the bathroom and will check weather! Also if I see lights when down the road I am for sure peeking out the curtains a me I would think of I was police or first responder trained In would go out to help! Not to mention, which are they going to mention? Police band radio or whatever it's called? Don't they all have those calls going on from that? Maybe I'm confused about who lives in that house.

Here in Texas , if a dead body is located on your property you are automatically interviewed. LE automatically would canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and any and all video evidence.

I also love how the defence knows which witnesses are likeable + doesn't badger them. I don't think we've seen that yet where they don't resent them - obviously will happen when the lead detective comes on but not sure he'll be likeable 😂

Sure, in that way your bff can be too much but it’s also your favorite flavor of extra so you’re down for the ride.
