I think you got the song's message completely. This is Tyler telling us how he was saved. He performed this song on bandito tour and there are videos of him getting emotionally overwhelmed and almost crying. Then one day in the middle of the tour, they stopped performing this song, probably too emotional. Love your tøp reactions!
OMG. Really? Tyler couldn't finish? What concert? I'm torn between not wanting to see him crying and loving how beautiful his heart and Josh's heart are. ❤😊
You're right that Tyler is the only one who knows the true meanings of these songs- he will sometimes give out song meanings but mostly he will let people interpret how they'd like and leave the true meaning to himself - he'd never tell anyone they were wrong about a song meaning
To see someone else fall in love with twenty one pilots (my all time favorite band) makes me want to cry tears of joy, especially since Taxi Cab is easily one of my favorite of their songs. I've said this before but thank you so much for making these videos and going on this twenty one pilots journey, they're the highlight of my day! I can't wait to join you on the rest of this twenty one pilots adventure :)
One of my favorite tøp songs of all time! They played it on the Bandito Tour (2018) and I was lucky enough to be there, such a magical moment. They usually don’t play these songs but sometimes they’ll squeeze one or two into the setlist or do a medley of some older songs
it's so nice to see someone else listening to these songs for the first time it brings me so much joy to see others enjoying it for the first time tyler's voice has evolved so much but it was so beautiful from the start as well
the rapping part that’s the bridge Tyler has said it’s his favorite verse he’s ever written and i think he said that fairly recently within the last few years
You had wondered about the identities of the three men, and I'm sort of surprised... I often overlook the religious imagery present in so many of their songs the first time I listen, but to me, that was so clearly the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) that I have a hard time imagining another identity to them. You've said before that their music sounds like church. To me, that's never more obvious than in this song. Also, I see that several others have mentioned Kitchen Sink already, and I'm going to join in there as well. It does such a wonderful job of explaining why you'll rarely hear them talk about the meanings to their songs.
It'd be awesome to see you get to interview some of these artists and break down their lyrics even more. I feel like we'd all be surprised by some of the meanings. Keep up the great work!
They played taxi cab in their 2019 tour (the bandito tour) but I think it made Tyler quite emotional so they took it off the set list part way through the tour
Easily in my top 5 favorite Twenty Øne Piløts songs. Absolutely love the message, but the song has such a groove/vibe to it…so smooth. Loved your reaction. Subscribed yesterday. Have a wonderful 4th 🇺🇸
Hey tom, watching your content has encouraged me to seek help with issues which I thought I would be brushed off for, but I was wrong, I'm being referred to a multitude of doctors, a psychotherapist and sources to help me God bless you and your tribe
This is so great to hear… I’m in a similar boat, and for the sake of my amazing wife and beautiful daughter, I finally sought the professional mental health help I needed. Good luck to you in your journey! You’re not alone! Keep fighting.. you got this! We can fight together, my friend.
Tyler has said (I think) that this rap part is one of his most proud lyrics. I absolutely live how you dissected these lyrics, because I've never fully got it. Beautiful song, one if my favorite from Self-Titled.
I've always interpreted the last verse as a clear reference to the holy trinity, the "man" that turns and talks to Tyler is Jesus and he's forgiving him for all his sins (Tyler is a Christian so it could perfectly be that). Also if you'd like to dive deeper into the lyrics there's a channel called the pop song profesor. He explains every twenty øne pilots song in a very deep way.
I hope you can react to their real first album - Regional at Best. Specifically Kitchen Sink and Be Concerned. Love the way you feel into and interrupt their songs!!
Your TØP reactions give me so much joy. I'm already so familiar and smitten with them, but yet, I find myself even more delighted hearing them though your ears. Would LOVE to see what you make of the song Nico and The Niners, which is one of the most unusual and twenty one pilots-ests song ever. Thanks for the fun & encouragement.
I saw them 2018 and 19 on their Trench tour, and they were so amazing. Sadly, they don't play the old songs at all (or, very few and far between, I have seen videos of them playing the old ones like Taxi Cab and Migraine I think, but haven't seen it myself) I love how seamlessly he switches from melody to rap as well, it's so good. Tyler said in an interview once that the rap parts are not really him trying to rap, but just him saying the things he can't put to the melody because he has so much to say, so he says them to the beat wich turns into rap. He just has so much important stuff to say, and it's great.
I bet you never thought you would be listening to the perfect song to play at your church, so much better than any other songs you would normally hear in church but with the same message
okay it took me like three years to figure out who the three men are --- it's literally just the hearse-driver, the passenger with the map, and the cab driver. but ofc the sun is The Son, if that's your flavor.
I love this song! I completely agree with you about the piano cuz I could just listen to that instrumental as well. I love Tyler's vocals and the imagery during the rap part at the end. Even though I'm not that familiar with this album I do know this song cuz it's been on my Spotify playlist for several months now.
This is my favorite song. It reminds me that as long as I keep faith (diving toward the morning SON) that all I’ve done in the past will be washed away.
the only concert ive ever had chills at was a twenty one pilots concert. vessel just released and the performance was by far the best ive ever seen. chills the entire time you could feel the emotion in every word
On this last tour, I got to see them in a venue of 1,000 people, and an arena show. It was the most incredible match up because at the arena show they played a lot more of the most popular songs, and at the club show they played a lot more vessel and other less widely known songs ❤
You gotta do “An Open Letter To Christians” by Jimmy Darko! I think you’d love the balance of wordplay/sonics and find it interesting how he speaks towards modern American Christianity
I totally agree it’s much deeper than surface value, intentionally, as leaving open that space for interpretation allows people to connect and feel seen in their own ways, but I must say as someone who’s died for 20 seconds and was revived and in a medically induced coma for 5 days and survived its eeire what i experienced and how you could theoretically use a metaphor like a taxi cab taking you somewhere yet you start to let go and come back like someone scratched open a lock and you luckily had that medical intervention in time. Many don’t. Just want to make it clear I’m I’m not saying it’s heaven and Christian etc. so I’m not pushing the religious narrative or religion etc. Just my person experience and love for Tyler’s skills and ofc Josh but not in this song
I love twenty one pilots but my other favourite band is imagine dragons, real deep person stuff Dan sings about would love to see you react to some of their song. Maybe giants or dull knives or even dream. Love your reaction to this though, definitely a great band
love the content. Why don't you try to contact them and invite them for an interview or smth? Maybe they reach out... I would love to see you guys meet.
I think that the three men are the three bodies of God, the father, the son, and the spirit. The two men in the hearse are the father and the spirit, bringing judgement on a sinner who is lost in the fleshiness of the world, but the taxi driver is the son, who died for the sins of the man in the casket, and he relieves the father and the spirits judgement and saves the man in the casket from damnation. The man's blood is washed away, peeling away his fleshly nature, and all his sins are forgiven, or undone. Tyler Joseph and Josh dun are both christians and I think this is probably what the three men represent in the song. A truly powerful message of grace and mercy that allows us to reach the light even after we stray so far from the Lord if we choose to follow Christ.
You should react to “Simple Math” by Manchester Orchestra. Great song and It’s possibly one of the best music videos of all time and I can’t find a reaction to it. You will thank me. Lol
Great anaysis of the song. I belive Tyler is referencing God more often than some may realize (even in recent Twenty One Pilots music). Whether he is or isn't, that's what the songs mean to me. And I therefor am a fan.
Im a simple man, i see twenty one pilots, i click.
Same here 😂
Me too
👍
I like
Same. Maybe NF if I’m in the mood. But always TOP

Wow! Cool story gaby! Thank you😊👍
made sense as this is the most impactful
I'd give my left big toe to see this song performed live. It's my favorite of all time.
OMG. Really? Tyler couldn't finish? What concert? I'm torn between not wanting to see him crying and loving how beautiful his heart and Josh's heart are. ❤😊
Any specific concerts or videos?

So cool!😊👍
The 3 men is the holy trinity. The father, the son and the Holy Ghost. And they are his taxi-cab. His path to salvation away from eternal death.

They do sometimes play older songs on tour. This one made the cut after Tyler’s grandfather passed away. Not a coincidence!
this whole album means so much to me, my Taxi Cab. Twenty One Pilots helped me through an extremely rough part of my life.
This song has always held a special place in my heart.
It'd be awesome to see you get to interview some of these artists and break down their lyrics even more. I feel like we'd all be surprised by some of the meanings. Keep up the great work!

i was lucky enough to hear this song live and after that this song has been so special to me
Okay, you NEED to react to Twenty One Pilots - Kitchen Sink
One of my favs! I think the three men represent The Father, Son and Holy Spirit! (just my interpretation)
wow i never thought of it that way !
I agree. That’s what it’s always made me think of as well.
Fortunately they play songs of every era!! they play, create... love them so much!! great reaction thanks!!
He played this song during his bandito tours and made everyone sit down. It was beautiful
We should get him to listen to "friend please"
I think we did but it might be on Patreon😊
"how long did he stretch that note" -- fwiw, an exray technician told him once that he as long lungs. not big lungs. long ones.
😂😂👍😊
When the music picks up.. "Yep! Yep!" Classic you lol. Need shirts made with that line.
Great idea!!!😊👍

Tyler has said (I think) that this rap part is one of his most proud lyrics. I absolutely live how you dissected these lyrics, because I've never fully got it. Beautiful song, one if my favorite from Self-Titled.

regional at best is actually their second album :), it’s just the first one made after josh joined and the other old members left

People have theorised the “3 men” being the father, son and Holy Spirit
As a TØP stan, I THOROUGHLY enjoy watching these from you. I could talk about them for Hours with ya! You get it.
ALSO got to see this live on bandito tour, so grateful! I love hearing older stuffffff ❤️

The three men represent the trinity in Christianity

LOL MAN I REALLY LOVE YOUR REACTIONS. I'm over here hyped up with you!!! Clique FOREVER!!!!
This is my favourite TØP song. I can't get enough. The 3 men in the car by the way, I think is in reference to the Holy Trinity. Church!
Your reaction was spot on! It is a religious piece!
Twenty One Pilots have NO filler songs on their albums
love to see this
They usually have a set of early songs where the mix it up.
it's cool that you hear a lot of religious tones in this, i do believe christianity and mental illness was the intended subject of this song :D
Bro you nailed it in my opinion
The best song ever made, in my very humble opinion.
yaay new tøp reaction 😁😍
one of my favorite TOP songs
Would be great if you could react to some more of joji. great reaction tho
