My brother looks like Nicolas Cage & can do whai i call 'the crazy nicholas Cage face'!!! Great party trick, or to brighten up the psychiatrist's waiting room lol
When the drug maker guy let the tiger out of the cage, it was completely metaphorical for unleashing the tiger from within. He also said earlier “She’s calm, which is good” which I believe means - that Nicholas Cage character was completely relaxed and ready to do what needed to be done at that point. You also mentioned the bathroom scene when he walks back into the house being amazing. I’m not sure how you missed him wearing a tiger shirt. Both the scenes are definitely somehow metaphorically linked.
Yeah I really thought this video might have some insight into any of the metaphorical imagery but he just walks you through the onscreen action like you can't see that yourself
There is an after credits scene which shows a selection of drawings Mandy has done, and one of them is of Red smoking a cigarette in the 44 jumper with a roaring tiger above him. This leads me to believe that the whole film is a fantasy novel created by Mandy like the one she reads in the film. The way the title cards appear throughout the film could also be interpreted as different chapter headings. It could also explain the otherworldly landscape at the end as Red drives off. Or she drew it before her death and it's just a mad, drug-fueled, ultra-violent, revenge story. Brilliant film regardless.
Cosmatos did something similar in Beyond The Black Rainbow. Post credits, there is a plastic toy which looks like a Sentionaut lying on the ground, and a voice in reverse saying, 'I've lost visual contact. Do you read?' If the Sentionaut was a toy, is it possible that the whole movie was a game or story created by a kid in the nearby town?
*Here’s the ending explained:* The chemist and the guy who gave Red the weapons both said the Super LSD gave someone supernatural powers that allowed them to cross dimensions. When Red consumed the LSD it gave him a bit of that power. It was also hinted that if Red went down this genocidal path, he would lose his soul. Losing his soul is what allowed him to finally cross dimensions, and why he was able to burst Jeremiah’s skull. This is why at the ending the setting is in a different world, and why Red has flipped his lid with Mandy crying for him.
I think that hes on earth still and lsd just made him realize that what we do here on earth is really a distraction from the truer spiritual world we are in.

A history of trauma (self inflicted and not) that they’re both working to recover from. Hell, in my eyes, even the setting is indicative of this. Lots of people with traumatic histories move out to the boonies to get away from their past, which it seems like Red and Mandy did. I wish the first act of this movie has more substance...

Your vikings/pagans (not Cage & his wife here) were not saints either. They also did loot, murder, kidnap/take as well and they also performed human sacrifices. Just like every single older culture on this planet.

My only question was in the end when it flashes back to when they first met, was it hinting that Mandy was special because of the lighting change when he sees her? Another stellar break down👌.
Kath Beck We do know his back story. He was a wannabe-carpenters hippy-dippy musician who's fragile ego was shattered and remade into something hideous by drugs, narcissism and failure. He proceeded to collect weak minded individuals to build a shitty 5 man cult with, and struck a deal with the most cracked-out Hell's Angels in existence. Thats about it.
I'd also like to point out that everything after Mandys death parallels Dantes Inferno. The guy who gives him the crossbow, and the axe, represents Dante meeting death. And one by one he goes down every ring of Hell, until he reaches the Pit at the bottom, with Satan, or Jeremiah in this case there. Sadly, Mandy sheds a tear for him at the end, as she does for the young fowl at the beginning. By getting revenge like he had, his soul had died.
I always wondered about Mandy's scar on her left cheek. It's not there when they meet in the flashback at the very end, but is in all the present day scenes throughout the movie.
I had the pleasure of introducing that clip to my mother. I'm not sure how she hadn't yet come across it, but it was hilarious how funny she found it- as she should, since it's fucking brilliant! 😂
My pal watched it with me and I was at a loss to explain what we'd just seen. He looked me dead in the eye and said "Let's call it a Ghost Rider prequel." and we laughed insanely as we drove towards the two planets in the distance...
For me the whole plot is a biblical metaphor. Each main character has a couple of roles. "Shadow mountains" part is the vision of paradise where Red and Mandy live happily like Adam and Eve until Mandy meets the "Serpent". In the final scene she reads "the serpent's eye" and then she's seen in the woods from Jeremiah perspective, as through the serpent's eye. Red also mentions Saturn (the rebel, Satan) as his favourite planet. "The children of the dawn" is a story of misleadings of religion through the millenia. Here, Mandy becomes a witch or the whore of babylon. She's a freethinker, artist, rebel, she can tell the right from wrong without a religious guidance. Jeremiah (pope, false prophet, God's emissary wicked by wealth and ego) tries to convert her by force, not to God, but himself. When she rejects him, the "children" burn her, just like the church burned the witches who refused to renounce the devil. In that case Red might be seen as Satan (witches lover), but also Jesus (stigmatised hands, pierced side) who spent time talking to sinners, wrongdoers and whores (like the scene at the gig where he was charmed by Mandy). I found that some people connect the number 44 (favourite shirt) with Jesus. Black skulls are obviously the riders of apocalypse, summoned by horn. Jeremiah's disciples wield some true power by using artifacts. The book of Revelations also mentions Jesus reign with iron scepter (axe?) in his hand. There's a meaningful scene when Red's '44' shirt is destroyed, and he equip a vest with Lucifer's sigil on the back. Then he visits The Chemist (God), who's preparing massive amount of acid blotters, as for keeping the humanity in their dreamland. He's allknowing, as he reads Red thoughts and knows what he came for. He's dissapointed how the 'children' could have wronged Red so much, which fits perfectly with the theory that Jesus get so outraged by the sin that he brings revenge on the wicked church on the day of the apocalypse. The Chemist mentions that everything is ok when Lizzie (beast of apocalypse) is calm, but after hearing (reading?) Red's story, he releases her to roam the surface of the earth. He also knows where to find the 'children'. When Red enters the empty church, he finds an old book on the altar that appears as a forgotten relict. Cellar door and long, underground corridors, resembles churches secrets and hidden agenda. When the old woman speaks to Red, he looks the other way, as Jesus is said to do to hipocrites on the day of judgement. Jeremiah starts to pannicly accuse Red for all that happened. Red's devilish voice suggest that Jeremiah sees him as the devil, cause he stays convinced that God is on his side. His final scream is also downpitched which may repreasent the Serpent manifest in the end. Red crushes Jeremiah's head, the same way as the snake is foretold to die in the bible. Red sets the corpses and the church on fire (false prophet is cast to the lake of fire in revelations) and Jesus also said that he'll come, and destroy the temple. In one of the animated visions of Mandy, she stands upon a dead crimson beast. In revelations the whore of Babylon gets burned by the seven-headed Crimson beast (wasn't there 7 people in the cult?). In the end Red rides in the dark alone, with unreal sky in the background, maybe as a symbol of the new world beginnig after the apocalypse.
Rubbish. Only an American evangelical could come up with that weird explanation, and since Panos Cosmatos is not one of those, it's impossible for him to have been thinking this stuff.
I watched this half drunk half in drafthouse and had the best time of my life. Cosmatos proved he can make intriguing and beautiful films with Beyond the black Rainbow - and pure absurd madness whilst maintaining said beauty with this one. Looking forward to his next work!
Iv'e seen it like a 15 times so far, this movie is pure heavy metal acid poetry, from a huge comic book fan, this could be some badass independent comic im not talkin' about marvel bullshit im talkin about O'Barr's The Crow,as a heavy metal fan i see lot of influences in that,Cosmatos said that movie is based on his own vision on Back Sabbath song cause he would stare at the album covers as a kid and imagine things going on in there, movie is not for everyone,it's for group of people who are in love with fantasy visual art and literature that's why some falks would think this is crap,do you know whats really crap ? cgi holy heroes without any dark spot on their soul flying around doing crappy things...this is fuckin' William Blake on some good shit
I wasn't a fan either. This seemed like a film student's final project, just slow and boring. There are plenty of better revenge films with more actions, gore, and cinematography. This thing was just artsy and not for everyone
I feel bad about my rudeness from my previous comment. You are not a tard, the subject is kind of a logical fallacy; whether description is explanation or not. It could be argued either way infinitely so I retract my statement. An explanation of a conclusion requires description of the journey though
I felt a lot of original mad max vibes with this film. So good and the 80's metal visuals and that badass ax plus cage's insane but super justified performance is worth the watch. I gotta see the full movie now. Thanks FoundFlix for another great movie to add to my growing list of movies I need to see :D
"Entire Movie Described" would be a better name for your videos than "Ending Explained", but I still watch them when they're movies I've seen cos you pick up on a lot of things I miss/forget. Fair.
Good work explaining a movie that didn't need much explanation. As you said, it is a simple revenge story with a special feel and tone. A pair of references to Cosmatos other movies and that's it, you didn't need a 15 min video for that
OMG, you are so right, during that first animated bit I was like this is more 80's and metal than 80's metal! It's exactly like the writer tripped while staring at old cover art.
The way I see the ending is that Cage is finally starting to mourne Mandy and coming to terms with his loss after defeating the cult. We see the moment where Cage decides, nope, she isn't gone, she will be with me forever. Which is why he has an insane smile on his face while the moments before looking dour. For Mandy to be real, everything that she created would also be real. The world seen at the end of the movie is one of the pictures Mandy paints.
FoundFlix, have you considered doing some non-English-language movies? Like Park Chan-wook's Old Boy, or Pretty Village Pretty Flame by Srdjan Dragojevic? I would really be interested in your take on them.
Hannibal Hyde Dude, original Old Boy one of my all time favs! If you can find Pretty Village (Serbian film from the 1990... but not THAT Serbian Film), I recommend that too. It's a black-comedy / war drama which, IMHO, shows war exactly as what it is - total absurdity.
All my friends know I have seen this film, and they have all asked me about it. I told them all the same thing. It's a long and slow start, but when it finally revs the engine and goes, it only speeds up and never stops. Almost as if this movie wants you to forget any trailers you might've seen for it, making you think it ISN'T some violence horror thing, and then hit you with something you should have already known while still leaving you feeling blindsided by how awesome it is.
You didn't mention the "primal growl" in the bathroom was connecting him with the caged tiger. He was wearing a tiger shirt, looking up and growling. Great breakdown tho. Loved this movie soo much
Nick cage captures more than the full range of human emotions. He has a few patented emotions such as "not the bees!" and "You don't say!". His increasing age and endless crazy eyes reveal him as a... no, *the* visionary of our time. A god among men.

I like your correlation i barely read dante's inferno in high school thus i can slightly grasp your concept
Lord they killed Mandy!?
I always wondered about Mandy's scar on her left cheek. It's not there when they meet in the flashback at the very end, but is in all the present day scenes throughout the movie.
This film was great to watch. I really enjoyed the cinematography and the music. Awesome experience.
Cage was alright but if chedder goblin doesn't get a Oscar Hollywood really is just one big casting couch
If anyone didnt notice the fat biker vomiting all his blood onto red, was a nod to the cheddar goblin.
the Redder Goblin
Nice catch!
I thought of Ghost Rider when I saw that chain. This movie really shines off Nicholas Cage!
112scrubs me too!! wonder if that was on purpose
*The bees, not the bees*
damn it i love that line!! classic hands down!!
Wow that is the best explanation for this movie ever. This movie is as if not more allegorical than Mother.
Well written, and very interesting
Wow 😮
One sees himself as a god who can do no wrong. The other sees to right the wrong.
Rubbish. Only an American evangelical could come up with that weird explanation, and since Panos Cosmatos is not one of those, it's impossible for him to have been thinking this stuff.
I’ve never heard of this movie, and I basically get to watch it for free!
Aki F go watch it
No, no you didn't. You have to be in the cinema to get the full music, lighting, and atmosphere. You didn't see shit
Cameraman that’s why I said “basically”
Aki F well it’s not basically
Wynaut Videos I’m joking by the way, this movie might not be bad to see with friends
My favorite part was when he sat down and explained a movie.
Hey we have the same name, could this be a conspiracy 🤔

14:35 - Its not a different planet, its a reference to "favorite planets" as mentioned in the initial part of the movie [and your review].
The Cheddar Goblin was friggn hilarious. I couldn't stop watching that commercial. TOO FUNNY.
Okay, so you summed up the movie...but did you explain the ending??
Yeah this... it was basically just a summary no explanation
that seems to be his current status quo
@@disliked1390 wow... I would really want to see you try to explain a Movie with an open fuckin ending
The ending is they were in other universe not on earth
@@disliked1390 for real, he has lost his sanity.
Does anyone else really want Reds axe?
Yes. It’s the best lumberjack axe known to man, forged by the Cagemaster from molten lava, who wouldn’t want it???
Axe most be in Man at Arms : Refroged!
Fuck yeah!!
I loved the hell out of this movie. Cage is great when he’s with a director that knows how to use him.
leave it to cage to properly portray someone's descent into madness lol
I watched this half drunk half in drafthouse and had the best time of my life. Cosmatos proved he can make intriguing and beautiful films with Beyond the black Rainbow - and pure absurd madness whilst maintaining said beauty with this one. Looking forward to his next work!
Best Nick performance: "Not the bees! NOT THE BEES!"
14:20 is the single greatest thing I’ve ever witnessed with my mortal eyes, we do not deserve Nick Cage
creeped me out
"Making an exceptional facial reaction" is what Cage is hired for, really.
"An exceptional facial expression" resumes basically Cage's career now.
The best movie ever, it’s demented, Fukin crazy with action, but yet so beautiful
You've never watched a good movie have u
Each to their own
Iv'e seen it like a 15 times so far, this movie is pure heavy metal acid poetry, from a huge comic book fan, this could be some badass independent comic im not talkin' about marvel bullshit im talkin about O'Barr's The Crow,as a heavy metal fan i see lot of influences in that,Cosmatos said that movie is based on his own vision on Back Sabbath song cause he would stare at the album covers as a kid and imagine things going on in there, movie is not for everyone,it's for group of people who are in love with fantasy visual art and literature that's why some falks would think this is crap,do you know whats really crap ? cgi holy heroes without any dark spot on their soul flying around doing crappy things...this is fuckin' William Blake on some good shit
I wasn't a fan either. This seemed like a film student's final project, just slow and boring. There are plenty of better revenge films with more actions, gore, and cinematography. This thing was just artsy and not for everyone
This was one of the greatest movie experience I have had in a long time, it is nothing like anything I have seen before so new, fresh and interesting.
Unbelievable visuals and mood in an unmissable film, thank goodness such original films as Mandy are still being made.
This movie is literally Berserk live action
I get what you mean bro, angry guy fighting demons
@Micah Mcgaffin why are you replying to everyone by calling them a moron? Are you okay?
@Micah Mcgaffin hey dipshit stop bieng moron
i got resident evil out of it
Your movie selection of showing films in the background is perfect.
I had this weird idea when i followed the link here that you were going to actually explain the ending.
Yess! I've been on a found flix marathon and almost ran out
CONGRATS ON A MILLION SUBS!!!!!!!! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
Excuse me, but is duke the same guy from the first predator movie
He absolutely is .
Lol yeah. When I saw Bill Duke in the opening credits I was like 'whaaaa, Bill Duke is in this'?! Haven't seen him in forever
"Gonna have me some fun!" -Mac
Nicholas Cage is absolutely stunning. This really is beyond ANY Oscar winners performance.
Is describing the scenes the same as explaining them?
Literally yes you tard
I feel bad about my rudeness from my previous comment. You are not a tard, the subject is kind of a logical fallacy; whether description is explanation or not. It could be argued either way infinitely so I retract my statement. An explanation of a conclusion requires description of the journey though
You have restored my faith in humanity good sir

Nicolas Cage + Super LSD is something that I never thought of.
I felt a lot of original mad max vibes with this film. So good and the 80's metal visuals and that badass ax plus cage's insane but super justified performance is worth the watch. I gotta see the full movie now. Thanks FoundFlix for another great movie to add to my growing list of movies I need to see :D
Mandy and The Color Out Of Space is a great double feature.
I guess you could say that the opening scene... just works
cease your jojokes before I get the ambulance.
When I saw this film it felt like I was inside one of my Heavy Metal Magazines reading some weird or fucked up story.
"Entire Movie Described" would be a better name for your videos than "Ending Explained", but I still watch them when they're movies I've seen cos you pick up on a lot of things I miss/forget. Fair.
Wooohooooo thank you so much for doing this, Congratulations on your 1 MILLION xoxoxo
The movie actually was not that bad! I definitely felt like I didn’t waste my money
True dat
That statement just feels so sarcastic and I don't know whether that was intentional.
I sure love this movie! Doesn't make me regret life at all!
Who said it was bad?
but does the movie have epilepsy warnings?
Definitely
Good work explaining a movie that didn't need much explanation. As you said, it is a simple revenge story with a special feel and tone. A pair of references to Cosmatos other movies and that's it, you didn't need a 15 min video for that
Oh no... the channel that explains movies explained a movie! What the heck!
"You're ... a vicious ... snowflake!"
Loved this movie soo much
This is pretty much an extended Dethklok music video
Nick cage captures more than the full range of human emotions. He has a few patented emotions such as "not the bees!" and "You don't say!". His increasing age and endless crazy eyes reveal him as a... no, *the* visionary of our time. A god among men.
I loved this movie. It was one of Nicholas Cages best movies to date! This movie had everything in it.. I think that if people love The movie Heavy metal, they would love the small claymation and cartoon episodes. The action is epic!! It's sad that the music director in this passed away. He is brilliant. His direction made this movie what it was!!!
The toon bits were especially lame, just like your "goth" haircut.

Can you do a video on the VHS movies please? :)
Asish gurung the one with the cult summoning that demon thing was awesome. That old dude playing the cult leader nailed that part.
