  • I built an old fashion casket from locally milled pine. I was honored that the family asked me to build this casket for their loved one. I have changed the way I build caskets now, but this video can help someone who wants to build one of their own.

I’m thinking that I do the same thing for myself it would certainly cause a conversation, with our local funeral service. I’m looking forward to that.

Have fun building one! It's a good experience. I have visited with our local funeral directors and they really like my caskets! They have gave me some pointers on things to improve upon, but they are pretty impressed. They told me that they have seen some pretty bad homebuilt ones.

Avery simple design, but elegant design. I would imagine for a simple individual for that last simple need in this life.... Thank you for carrying us with you on your journey of building it. Keep up the Good work!!!!!!

Thank you for watching. Any wood that you want to use will work. I've built them out of alder, cedar, pine, white oak, walnut. It doesn't matter. Some cemeteries will put the casket into a concrete vault. At our simple country cemetery they are put directly into the ground where they will return to the earth naturally.
