How To Build An Old Pine Box Casket
I built an old fashion casket from locally milled pine. I was honored that the family asked me to build this casket for their loved one. I have changed the way I build caskets now, but this video can help someone who wants to build one of their own.

Builder Boards. Let's play!!!
Просмотров 1,8 тыс.7 лет назад
The Builder Boards are complete and we put them to the test! There's so much fun to be had with these simple boards with a few notches in them. While playing, children will develop coordination, teamwork, imagination, creativity, and a love for playing outside. And even better than all of the fun to be had playing with the boards is the satisfaction of helping to build them. Jack McKee wrote Bu...
Cedar Builder Boards
Просмотров 4,1 тыс.7 лет назад
My son and I built a set of builder boards from cedar fence pickets. These boards teach coordination, teamwork, imagination, creativity and a love for playing outside. Though repetitive, they are fairly simple to make. The plans are based off of Jack McKee's book Builder Boards: How to Build the Take-Apart Playhouse. The book is well worth the money and shows how to build a cedar version and a ...

I’m thinking that I do the same thing for myself it would certainly cause a conversation, with our local funeral service. I’m looking forward to that.

Have fun building one! It's a good experience. I have visited with our local funeral directors and they really like my caskets! They have gave me some pointers on things to improve upon, but they are pretty impressed. They told me that they have seen some pretty bad homebuilt ones.

Avery simple design, but elegant design. I would imagine for a simple individual for that last simple need in this life.... Thank you for carrying us with you on your journey of building it. Keep up the Good work!!!!!!

Thank you for watching. Any wood that you want to use will work. I've built them out of alder, cedar, pine, white oak, walnut. It doesn't matter. Some cemeteries will put the casket into a concrete vault. At our simple country cemetery they are put directly into the ground where they will return to the earth naturally.

I have been making waffle-like blocks with my 3/4" plywood cut offs and thought I might expand on them when I found your video. How long did you make the longer boards?

I believe the long boards were 4ft long. There's a link in the description to Jack McKee's book that was very useful to building the boards! It has the plans with all of the dimensions and eliminated all of the guess work for me. If I were to build another set of these builder boards I would do it in plywood. The cedar pickets only lasted a couple of years until they warped out and many of the notches snapped off. Have fun building your's!

Hi, sorry to bother you. I want to ask you a question ... I am starting to do things with wood, it is a small, family business and I am interested in this product. The question is if you know if I can market it, sell it. I was seeing that in the USA there are some brands that modified the design a bit and sold the product. I would really appreciate it if you can give me some information on the subject. I am from Argentina. Greetings and thanks!!!!

law in another video that you use cedar. can be? here is very expensive. I'm going to try with pine plywood. regards!

I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. I hope that it'll help you build the boards! The cedar pickets that I used are 5/8" thick, but you could use 3/4" plywood or any other material. If you use plywood you will have to be sure to apply some outdoor poly or urethane. The cedar may be expensive, but you save money not buying poly. Let me know how your boards come out!

Hi, I'm gabriel from buenos aires argentina. I wanted to thank you for the video and also to ask you some questions ... first, what wood you use and what thickness the boards have. From already thank you very much!!

did you plane your board to the same thickness

    • @littlewaterwoodworks3842
      @littlewaterwoodworks3842 7 лет назад

I didn't plane them. I wish that I would have. They were mostly pretty close to the same thickness. There were a few that were a little thicker and were too tight in the notches. I sanded them down a little then they fit ok. I was trying to keep the rough look of the board, but I would suggest sending them all through the planer.
