Great Idea. My 5 kids are too old now, but I will remember when I am becoming a grandpa ;-)

I have been making waffle-like blocks with my 3/4" plywood cut offs and thought I might expand on them when I found your video. How long did you make the longer boards?

I believe the long boards were 4ft long. There's a link in the description to Jack McKee's book that was very useful to building the boards! It has the plans with all of the dimensions and eliminated all of the guess work for me. If I were to build another set of these builder boards I would do it in plywood. The cedar pickets only lasted a couple of years until they warped out and many of the notches snapped off. Have fun building your's!

Hi, I'm gabriel from buenos aires argentina. I wanted to thank you for the video and also to ask you some questions ... first, what wood you use and what thickness the boards have. From already thank you very much!!

Hi, sorry to bother you. I want to ask you a question ... I am starting to do things with wood, it is a small, family business and I am interested in this product. The question is if you know if I can market it, sell it. I was seeing that in the USA there are some brands that modified the design a bit and sold the product. I would really appreciate it if you can give me some information on the subject. I am from Argentina. Greetings and thanks!!!!

did you plane your board to the same thickness

I didn't plane them. I wish that I would have. They were mostly pretty close to the same thickness. There were a few that were a little thicker and were too tight in the notches. I sanded them down a little then they fit ok. I was trying to keep the rough look of the board, but I would suggest sending them all through the planer.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the video. I hope that it'll help you build the boards! The cedar pickets that I used are 5/8" thick, but you could use 3/4" plywood or any other material. If you use plywood you will have to be sure to apply some outdoor poly or urethane. The cedar may be expensive, but you save money not buying poly. Let me know how your boards come out!
