- This week I went semi-viral with my comments about Christian music’s “Dove Awards,” in which three provocateurs showed up. On todays episode, you’ll probably notice that I’m fired up due to the absurd silence of Christian platforms. Where is the solidarity from the industry, or from the Christian platforms? They are nowhere to be heard. The truth will set us free, but much of American Christianity believes that the truth is impolite. I’m sick of the wimpy, weak, and wokeness in our churches! We need revival.

It really is sad to see how many have either chosen not to speak out or have been in support of complete godlessness. I’ve unfollowed so many I used to love because it makes me sad and righteously angry. Having a “Christian” platform and leading people astray is not ok

Alisa Childers. I don’t know if she is still considered, but she is a Christian artist, right? I don’t know the last time she made music. But regardless, she’s very vocal and has a podcast too.
As Christians, we must remember that there are times where "NO" is the accepatble answer. The example(s) citted by John in this video are great times to say NO to these deconstructionists.

Two things come to mind when I think of Jesus' response to those who would try to turn Christianity into a mockery.
He would say "Depart from me, I never knew you," and "get behind me Satan."

It’s all coordinated. The Dove Awards and Country music awards, two traditionally CONSERVATIVE genres of music. So who is pushing it? Name them. If anyone knows names, name them. The only way this ends is if we know WHO is pushing it.

Most likely it's the music labels along with the big name seminaries. $$ and power are always the driving force. Feminism and secularism (basically one in the same!) Get out of the business model "churches." They are always about the numbers that HAVE to be pumped up to financially support their big "shows!"

I saw this coming in the late 1970s when I was a 20 year old pastor's wife. I was so naive that I thought elders and deacons and church members, much older than me, would be living Holy, Godly lives. I was shocked to see sin and apathy among church leaders and being a 20 year old calling them out. Where were the shepherds who should have been ministering to a young pastor and his wife and setting a good example? I'm in my late 60s now and I blame the generations older than me and my generation for allowing the church to start down the slippery slope that has led us into the PIT OF APOSTACY in which we find ourselves today. Wimpy publications, pastors, "Christian " colleges, and "Christian" musicians. 🤮 I'm shocked about the Dove Awards, but sadly, not surprised

@@ab-gail Keith Green was a Christian music artist in the late 70s and early 80s. He died with several of his children in a small airplane crash, leaving his pregnant wife and one other child. He was very outspoken about Biblical truth. You can find a documentary about his life here on YT and his music.
I’m only five minutes in and I will say I’m so glad I stopped watching these award shows years ago. I’m so disgusted with the Christian industry and Christians in general how far they have walked away from God’s word. I hope and pray John that you never compromise, and thank you for speaking truth.

This is what happens when church leaders can no longer distinguish between “loving the world” (1 John 2:15-16) and “loving one another” (John 13:35); the definition of “love” becomes twisted. Keep up the great work, John! 👍

My teenage daughter is so encouraged because you always speak God’s TRUTH when so many Christians are compromising. Derek Webb is a false teacher who should absolutely be called out and opposed, as Paul commanded. He's not just an outside antagonist. He should not be tolerated. Caedmon's Call should not be tolerated if they allow a false teacher to represent them. There's nothing unChristian about calling out false teachers.
I have seen his interviews, Derek is completely full of himself. He even has boasted on being a contrarian personality in the interview. Derek needs to be confronted on the egotism that he has. He doesn't truly care. American gay men are still living 14-16 years less than the average American male. And why ...I can't get into it but it's gross....but the biological activity lends to diseases. I lost a close friend and a brother to Aids and they are still getting sick these days. Seriously tired of this false love by Derek. Derek has a problem too with alcohol btw. There is a song by Derek that reveals it.
@@graysonbr Derek isn't hiding anything. When he backslid he told us. He just found out he couldn't make money if he didn't mention Jesus, so now he openly deceives people and they want to be deceived.
@@NoNonsense77 I think where I am stunned with Derek, is that his early works and lyrics were very deep. He needs to quit the beer, get into recovery, and deal with whatever is buggin' him. He's got an alcohol problem and demons are lying through that spirit. I am surprised nobody addressed this problem with him when he wrote the song The Spirit bears the Curse. But then again there are a lot of Christian artists that casually drink and maybe they just ignore it like they did with Russ. Nashville seriously needs to confront the drinking problem with artists. A reformation is totally needed in the CCM industry.
So bummed about Derek. He was a great artist and songwriter in the heyday of Caedmon's Call. It appears he started "deconstructing" after his moral failure?

Jesus said, "Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves." We already have the "harmless as doves" Awards. Perhaps what we need now is the "wise as serpents" Awards!

I abandoned modern "Christian" music in 2018. Now, the only new music I listen to is from Skillet or Sovereign Grace. When I listen to the radio, I listen to the station that mostly plays old hymns. Growing up in the 90s, Christian music was my passion. Now, it has been taken over by heretical "worship" bands like Bethel, Elevation, Jesus Culture, etc.
I'm so thankful for you speaking out! I just saw Skillet last night in Colorado Springs. You all are amazing in concert! You all make being a Christian better. Keep speaking truth.

The church has forgotten that we’re not called to be conformed. We’re called to be transformed. It’s the only way we can be a witness for Christ.
Our silence is gonna bite us in the behind one of these days. We’re going to regret it. And when the chickens come home to roost we ain’t gonna have anyone to blame but ourselves, as we get stood on and shoved into the ground.
I think we're already there. Too many pastors are silent on issues. They are our leaders, but they don't want to appear "unloving" or "judgmental". I blame them for all this. Back in my grandfather's day...men wouldn't allow men to walk in women's restrooms or play women's sports. We need more men like John.

John, Derek was really telling us all who he was when he released his album “I see things upside down “. We all should have taken a stronger stance then. Same thing with Kevin Max back in the day and also with Jars of Clay. I was swept up just like everyone else then and was happy that Christian music was become better and better. We all failed to use discernment then and it is coming back to haunt us now. Discernment is not knowing right from wrong it is knowing right from almost right. Thanks for your stance John. There is a difference between struggling with same sex attraction temptations and living it out in a marriage to that same sex person. I struggle with things but i recognize its not something true and right and am working it out with God not wearing my sin like a badge of honor!

After hearing this, then relating Skillet’s songs like Monster, Sick of It, Resistance, and Psycho in My Head, it’s like Skillet was warning us the whole time. Just a thought. Thank you John for using the platform God has blessed you with to speak TRUTH. We don’t need empathy, touchy-feely cookie cutter Christianity. We need hardcore, solid, indisputable TRUTH. Which is Gods word. All of it. Not cut up pieces that only make people comfortable . Keep leading with conviction my brother and reject condemnation. Light the fire and ignite a revolution of TRUTH.
Have you heard White Horse yet? Best Skillet song ever. I just know why John wrote this song. The church has forgotten who Jesus is. He is not just love, He is Justice. He is King of Kings, and there will be a judgment. "Didn't you hear the words of the prophets? I've got the Words of GOD in my mouth!" Epic.
This is why I could not sit back and allow my church to remain United Methodist. Sermon series and Bible study became the space for some hard-hitting, conflict making, and love sharing truth. I had people get up and walk out of worship and studies. Praise God we were able to get out and join the orthodox movement of Global Methodism. John Cooper your challenge to pastors and churches is well warranted. Keep speaking the prophetic because it gives this pastor hope that the battle is not lost. Love CooperStuff!!

I am they type of person who sadly doesn’t want to cause trouble. I’ve always just quietly loved them and pray for the Holy Spirit to truly convict them. I work at home so I don’t have much interaction with the outside world so I don’t really know what to do. I really don’t know what I can do. Thank you Mr. Cooper for your boldness. Although your music is not my cup of tea (I’m more into Keith Green, Michael Card, Matthew Ward etc) I played your music for my 16 year old granddaughter and she loves your music. I will gladly buy your CD’s for her. Praying for your ministry.

Straight up, John! I think we've lost sight of God in SO many aspects of life. The Bible is simple. It's straight-forward. I think those award shows have become far more about praising men and women than praising God. No Compromise. God's love is for everyone BUT on His terms. His world, His rules. His saving grace alone. How can we be the light on the hill if we cover it up and say it's too strong, too harsh? I want to stand before God and say I was not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that He will not be ashamed of me. No compromise.

You're speaking my language, John! I find myself so angry quite often and it's due to my spiritual gifts of exhortation and fear of the Lord. I'm praying that I might be angry and do not sin. And find channels to use my gifts to serve God. It's challenging times!

41:45 It’s crazy they compare a playing style of music to a named sin in the bible. No discernment whatsoever from those commentators.
CCM fell of the wagon a long time ago. People just didn't want to admit it, didn't care or were too blind.
I know many Christians still doubt Rock music. But I have read my Bible and have not found any comment on music styles (as opposed to lyrics) whereas I have read specific instructions regarding men dressing as women and reveling in homosexual lifestyles. 😐 I suspect a lot of people don't read anymore.

Thank you for speaking on it. I need more Christian’s to speak on it. They are doing it for attention and it’s not a good look. We can be living and still preach Gods true word! I sin too but what’s different is that I know I’m a sinner and I ask for forgiveness and struggle with it daily. LGBTQ- they don’t want you to even say it’s a sin and don’t ask for forgiveness for their sin. Big difference! Keep spreading his gospel and try loving word! 🙏

I don't usually comment on RUclips, but I just want to say Skillet has been my favorite band since I was six years old and this podcast has only made my love of the band increase. I saw you guys in concert on Thursday, and it was the best concert I've ever been to. I got the meet and greet ticket, and I wore a Cooper Stuff shirt for it. The word Christian does not even have the definition of Christ Like in many circles. Please pray for the deceived.
