Had to log back on briefly to say that the lighter colored marking on that piece of ebony is typically what I belive they refer to as "sapwood." It is located just below the bark on the tree and transfers the water and nutrients throughout the tree. The darker part is typically located on the inner part of the tree and can be referred to as "heartwood." The darker, more uniform colored ebony with really tight grain and high density is traditionally more desirable and sought after and of courser more expensive. Many, many years ago I priced a very dense solid black piece of Ebony that was essentially a decent sized squared log that was about 40" x 12" x 12" with no cracks or separations in it at $400 and I was totally shocked by the price. Kinda wish I would have bought it as It is my limited understanding that now such a piece is difficult to find and REALLY expensive if you were to find one. Idk. Anyway back to video...
Interesting, so that's why the wood was so cheap. It's good though, I planed past it easily and the wood was good even though I ended up mangling it lol. I figure I can fix it if I ever do a regret on it.
Hey Doug! Just getting to the point where I can watch this. Will start now but will not be able to comment on the device I am watching on. Will make another comment after I watch the whole thing. Probably tomorrow at this point. Gotta try to get some sleep. Really looking forward to this! I have wanted to do build one myself for a long, long time. Will be back later to let you know what I thought about it. Oh ... What was that a KWA workmat? You into or were into Airsoft?
This one is named the "DouRGlas" unless you can think of something better.
Another winner by the overnight Luthier...Great work and cool design! I still think you should call it the D'banez...
Maybe, it does have a ring to it.
Great work buddy!
@@metalheadpunk thanks man! Wait till you see my newest lol

I'm about done with #3 btw...my dad requested one and it will be the smallest guitar you have ever seen. ;)
@@DouglasThompson Looking forward to seeing it!
@knowyourjoe8826 it's been done since yesterday, editing the video later today.
0:37 bro, you need to hit the store and get a few more clamps
Lol, I actually ran out of clamps once on this project and had to wait to glue something cause they were all used...

I was an airsoft gun tech professionally for some years. I repaired aeg's mostly but I also repaired gbb rifles and pistols.
@@DouglasThompson That is cool.
