      @@JoelArseneaultRUclips I am super slow at typing on my phone, I guess that means I'm old haha. Seems so strange that they couldn't get a rental car, but there must be some unusual circumstances that made that not be able to happen. Nice of you to rescue them any way, good on you. The music on this video is very relaxing which really matches the relaxed mood of the video. Makes the video really calming, which is exactly what I needed right now with all the craziness that going on with my stuff. All my stuff is going well just busy, plus kids so even more busy plus no sleep. But yeah relaxed jetski content is really great right now. In the first part of the video you are having one of those days were nothing goes right, that sucks but what can you do. Almost nothing other then as you say go to sleep and start over the next day. Looks like you are going for a Kawasaki green on the green powder coat for the jetski engine parts. Looks cool I like the nod to Kawasaki, whether you did that intentionally or not its cool. Putting that picture of the cut up stator on the video was a neat little editing trick. Also how did you decide to go with the laid back music? I like it but wondering how you decided to go with the chill music. Being concerned about the weight is a personal choice, Im glad that you can do that. I would like to get more serious about weight, but at the end of the day I don't have time for that maybe one day. Your setup to cover up the internal bits of the bottom end when powder coating was great, the setup for the cylinders was fantastic. 19:01 it is this much time later, don't know why but I really like that. Very creative. The black powder coat does look great! You make powder coating look fun. Very interested to see how the z-tronics works out.

      @@JetSkiBrothers Yeah... they were in a small place called Winnemucca. They did not have access to a rental. The day before I got there, they had to walk a few miles to rent a Uhaul van, so that they could drive around an make arrangements to store their RV and stuff. I'm sure they could have sorted it out, but I'm glad I was able to help.
      I know what you mean about the calming music, haha. I had a totally different intro... it took me over an hour to edit. I had some intense music, with before and after shots of the engine, but it set the mood for the rest of the video to be intense, and I ended up just deleting it all, and going with this, haha.
      Haha... The colors were purchase in 2019 when I was not sure what color I would do the 650 engine... I'm not sure what my plan was, or if I had any plan, but I'm glad that I had those colors hanging around. I really enjoy the way it turned out.

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  Год назад

      Thanks. I'm going to leave the carbs... They are already black... and they would be VERY tricky to do... You'd have to take a lot of time to completely disassemble and then mask everything well... And you have to mask with high temp tape that is trickier to work with.

    Great video. Saving a pound with the flywheel cover. I put a 750 cover on my 1100 and ground a bunch of crap off including the inspection hole so I have a lighter flywheel cover than you.... just so you know. If you want to reach the next level of weight weenie you can't run powder coal. It's to heavy. Glad you made it back from Nevada. That's quite a drive. I'm not really looking forward to the drive to ls fest.

      Haha... turns out that 326 gram is only about half a pound ... but whatever. SO ... what you're saying is I can still shave a bunch of weight off the 750 cover ... nice.
      I'm glad to be back from Nevada... Your trip to Las Vegas is going to be a LONG one.... That's about how long it take to get from where I am to my home down... I have done the trip 6 or 7 times now... If you have lots of time and plan out fun stops along the way, it's not so bad... but if you are just trying to cover miles to get there... it's a LOT of driving. I just checked and it actually takes 10 more hourse for me to get to my home town from here. What are you going to be driving ?

    Maybe I missed you talking about it, but do you have to worry about machined surfaces? Like, your head bolts crushing the powder coating? Or any of the sealing surfaces? Looks so awesome! Looks like I need to buy a sand blasting machine, big compressor, powder coating gun, a used oven, uhhh... What else.. Lol! Mine is going to look so sad next to yours this summer! ;) Can't wait!

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  Год назад +1

      I didn't talk about it much... I did mask off the areas that would allow the bearing surfaces to be coated... and ended up having to use a paint stripper on the (after this video) anyway, haha. Ideally, you want to mask off all of your bolt holes, gasket surfaces etc... but I am quite relaxed about all of this.
      When I started doing it I had silicone plugs for every hole, high temp masking tape and was meticulous about it... Now, I do general masking and run a tap through my threaded holes after. Gasket surfaces I try to put a gasket in place or mask in some way. WIth my gun, it gets more complicated. as I almost always have to do a hot coat, meaning that my masking has to withstand 400F for at least an hour, as I will be coating it hot, sometimes a few times.
      You are welcome to use my equipment if you wanna make the trip.

    Have you ever painted an engine? I don't have the tools to powder coat but I know there are very good engine paints (VHT) that would allow me to add a little "bling" to the engine bay? I'm doing a full rebuild, crank up, so the cases are split and it would be a good time to paint. I'm curious what surface prep I should do? I'm going to use the VHT primer/color/clear combination.

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  Год назад +1

      Sand blasting gives an excellent surface for paint to grab on. There are lots of great 2K paints on the market these days… choose your brand and color. Clean the surfaces well with brake cleaner and compressed air, and again with acetone if you want to be extra fussy.

    Are you going to "texturize" the ports on the intake manifold for fuel atomization?

    • @JoelArseneaultYouTube
      @JoelArseneaultYouTube  Год назад +1

      I'm not sold on texturizing having any benefit. I have either polished or left a sanded finish on everything I've ever done. I believe the inlet process is naturally violent and turbulent enough without anything extra. The boost port and transfer ports cause a collision of fuel and air inside the cylinder that is many times more violent than any surface texture or turbulence would be. (or maybe I'm 100% wrong)
      Slightly off topic... but... I watched a video my a guy called "superfast matt" and he explained a few things about boundary layers and talked about the Mythbusters golf ball car test ... I can't remember what he said at all, but he explained why things aren't necessarily as they seem.
