@@e.a.bfarms eventually I'd like to get the steer lot concrete but first I'd like to get the shop built. I'll let the steers run it down a bit so the dirt will be easier to move.
That wind break is gonna be awesome!! Keep after it, I love your determination and doing whatever works!! That will be an amazing stand in a few years, look fwd to seeing whats next!! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
Keep putting seeds out there. When it's their time they'll come up. If you're on that place 60 years from now as an old man you'll still have Alfalfa popping up
Nice wind break, put in enough lower structure inside the wind break to keep the steers from pushing the tin off. The old Van Brunt drill is doing it's thing!
👍 Looking forward to seeing the windbreak when its done!
Once we have everything up it's gonna be nice
@@Heimerviewfarm Any plans for concrete?

Looking good Jordan, keep up the good work my friend and hope you have a blessed Labor Day weekend.
Thanks Tony, hope things are going great for you as well.
That windbreak should work quite nicely. Keep us updated on the Alfalfa planting. I've seen it done that way into old pasture to thicken things up.
I will do. I made the video hoping you'd watch it.
@@Heimerviewfarm I'll make sure I comment when you put up a video. I usually always watch them.
@@farawayfarm2520 I do the same thing. Alot of my watching is on a TV and I forget to reply after watching them.

The windbreak will be great and when everything is setup as well. Hoping 5 years from now everything is setup and should make it easier on the herd.

That's the plan. God never tilled the soil when he made the prairies
I like birdsfoot trefoil in my pasture mix :)
I've heard things about it. Once we get our pastures in check, I'll probably trying putting the pastures in a grazing mix.
Loose soil, it will work.... Those old Van Brunts get the job done... Thanks Jordan.
They sure do. Our sandy soil is fairly easy to work with

I'm considering putting cattle panels on the inside to help reinforce it but lumber might be just as good. Van brunt earned it's keep.
Hope it works but I’ve never had luck interseeding alfalfa like that.
What was the biggest issue?
I would get yourself a spike tooth drag and drag the whole Field
Why, seems like a good way to rip up the existing stand
