Dad always said if you want to make sure you get rain, let somebody cut hay! Apparently, it doesn't work in your area. 😢 What a blessing to have Cole farming with you! So many farms go by the wayside when a farmer retires & the family sells out. You are blessed. Farming is a crap shoot (very stressful worrying about weather & market prices plus inputs. Our stress level is dependent on so many variables, but we try not to show it. I really enjoy watching you & Cole, especially with your wisdom. Great song of the day, too! 😊
Brian I really enjoy you telling us about bales per acre, the hard times you have lived through, the gamble of every decision you make. Farming & growing food for the people is hard. And you always say what you are grateful for.
Cole is so fortunate to learn from your knowledge of the good, bad and ugly years. Thank you for sharing the reality of farming.. and the song of the day!
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Brian, I sincerely appreciate your words about the drought and how it affects young farmers like Cole and how dad can help get them thru the drought with dad’s backing. I really appreciate your words and willingness to help Cole. My compliments to you Brian. Thanks for the song of the day. Might have been from previous video and I missed it. Brooks and Dunn are great. Beautiful voices. Thanks Brian. You got a few bales off of those small patches. Heartbreaking to see such few bales. Hang in there. Sending my prayers your way for rain and moisture for your crops. Sorry you did not get the DitchWitch machine. Those are nice machines. Keep trying. Sooner or later you will get one. About it I guess. Brian, once again thanks for your willingness to help Cole. Proud of you sir. My compliments to you. Hang in there on this drought issue. Thanks for the drone footage. Enjoyed that. All for now. Thanks for everything. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
I sure appreciate the insights from Brian’s tractor seat. Sometimes life’s tough but ya gotta learn how to learn from it and whip it next year. There you go! Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Brian. Thank you so much.
This family is the salt of the earth. They have lived right and are enjoying the results. I wish woke liberals would watch this to see what life could be with kindness and hard work.
I know the feeling, we cut 23 acres and got 44 round bales(4X5)! In the past we have gotten a 160+ round bales on the same fields. Praying for rain in South Central Texas. God Bless
I know it’s hard Cole but can you imagine if Dad wasn’t there to offer his sage advice? Even Brian says he’s still learning every season. Brian’s calming encouragement is just what’s needed during this terrible weather season. I’m so glad you have each other.
At 16, I remember loosing our Family Farm, watched the Auction. Before, Farm Aide! Brian, Love, Love, Love Your Song(s) of the Day!❤❤❤ Country Music & Others, need to step up and have a Farm Aide 2023. My God Bless ALL Farmer's & Familes❤❤❤
Hey Brian and Cole, @Brian, that Brooks and Dunn song is one of my personal faves! I look forward to your song of the day everytime I see your videos! Keep up the good work PS, it's our winter here in Australia, we are praying hard for rain for you guys :( all the best! Dave Kuipers :)
What's that saying (If it don't kill you it just makes you Stronger) Cole said the other day it was the first time he had seen it this dry!! It's dry down here in Texas too and hot !! Heat index 109 degrees!
Perseverance in action! You guys are staying positive and utilizing all areas of the farm to make hay! I admire your grit! Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing the struggles and successes with us! God Bless!
Hi guys, it’s so sad for you both to have such a poor harvest . You both work so hard. I pray that the rains come for your second cut. How you both. Manage to remain positive is a credit to both of you. Looking forward to happier days. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️
My favourite Brooks and Dunn right now is This Is Where The Cowboy Rides Away, it's a music video. I'm listening to your choice right now. A bale here, a bale there. The moo's don't care where you got it. Walk the ditches next and get more bales after the clean up. Ditches need cleaned up anyway. He sure chases you hard with that baler. Cleaning up the weeds looks better now. Good video. Have yourself a pool moment. Pax.
End a drought.. 1- wash and wax a vehicle 70% effective 2- prep a panel off a vehicle for paint 80% effective 3- a bit more extreme, requires sacrificing a young man on the alter of matrimony…hold an outdoor wedding 99.5% effective
I’m from east central Nebraska. We have been in a severe drought also. First cutting alfalfa was about a bale a acre second was about a 1/2 bale a acre grass hay as about a bale 1/2 acre. Dry land corn is about done 2/12 to 3 foot tall and starting to tassel. Irrigated corn is looking okay. We have been blessed with a couple nice rains in the last week. It will keep the pasture going. The rain didn’t do much to help the dry land corn. The soybeans are looking good after the rain. Hope you get some rain soon.
Brian, you have taught me so much about farming, love when you explain things. I'm a city girl turned to country living when I got married. Love that you are taking time to teach Cole the way of life, farming!! Gob Bless you all.
Brians tractor seat pulpit, always great advice. I like a lot of others wish we could make it rain and ease your burdens but i also know you will weather this. God bless and continued well wishes. I look forward to your new videos thanks again for sharing especially now.
My uncle actually lived on kix and Barbara’s ranch in Tennessee and trainer cutting horses out of there barn! Cool dude been around him a few times when I was a kid!
Hopefully the state is helping with the financial impact of the drought. It never is enough, but uncle always told me that if you sell those mommas, it’s hard to buy them back for less than you sold them for. Hopefully you guys get some rain before it’s too late in the growing season.
Sadly, you had to confirm the weather forecast I'd been following. ---I've only seen the sun a few brief times this month, & two mornings in a row, the marine layer was so dense, it dripped off the roof into my rain barrels.---Love the drone footage, as usual.---One foot in front of the other...we're all rootin' for you folks.
Here in northeast Wyoming, not 500 miles from Sonne Farms we've had one of the rainiest springs I can remember. I sure wish there was a way to share our moisture with you. Love your channel. God bless
South west Nebraska. Hay is on the ground. Yet. None stop rains and cold weather. So much rain that I haven't watered my yard yet. High today was only 55F. Fog rain tonight. I am so ready for summer.
Everyday life challenges are difficult to deal with, it's always nice to get good advice from an experienced source, also getting the first hand experience with that makes it even more beneficial. My son and I are experiencing the same low hay output this year for much of the same reason. We haven't fertilized in the past two years and our hay production went from the upper 200's to 65 this year. Hopefully we can get a fall cut, we'll have to wait and see. Liked the song of the day and the video, thanks, I hope the remainder of the week goes well.
Hey Brian, are you waiting for Rain you can come to Massachusetts we’ve had rain every afternoon for the last three weeks trying to get some bit of my garden to grow but I need some sun shine got plenty of water but right now I just need a couple days of sunshine as long as it doesn’t stay this damn hot 80s and 90s I can’t do the heat and the humidity I can’t breathe I’ll melt and pass out on the ground and I don’t look good when you’re a big person like you are that’s what I look like I’m built like you Brian Yep Stuckey and stout so me and the heat don’t mix😂😂😂❤❤
Thanks for the descriptive summary of the risks of farming, Brian. It's intimating. Great drone footage, Cole. The aerial view really shows how dry the fields are.
Hi Brian and Cole, it is devastating not to produce a decent amount of hay bales. I have been watching Sonne Farms for a few years and you have always produced enough hay for your cows/calves. This is new challenge for Cole to learn about drought on the farm. Stay cool and Brian you are not allowed in Tiffany's pool. Chris from Australia 🇦🇺 .
It just got done pouring rain, and I checked the rain gauge at 2 PM and had a inch of rain, and now I am going to check in the morning, 6/29/23, I think you are going to get rain by midnight tonight.
On Ebay. For bidding. I also put my last bid in the last 20 seconds. Gives no one any time to bid back. Yet. I, as you two said, bid high. Way more than what bidding has been going on. Then I win at a lower amount.
Great work... I hope you get some weather..to help all of your crops grow...just curious, and not looking to spend your money..have you ever thought about getting a skid steer trencher attachment / a backhoe attachment? they use that combo a lot here to run the electric lines and fiber lines ..stay safe..and stay cool!!
Another great video. I hope you do not find too many of those rock depositories on your farm. I really appreciate how you and your dad work well together. Well, you’ve got to know when to hold them and know when to fold them.
Socialblade predicts you'll have ~415k subs and 232M views....in 5 years. I hope you have more than that. I really enjoy your videos. Hope y'all get some rain soon. The lean years keep you humble.
Cole, just trying make u feel good, yesterday I rolled 34 ...4*4s on 3 acres.. and it's never had one pound fertilizer..none never.. I have rolled as many as 42 on same field... usually 40 rolls on first and 18-20 on second..most time 60 rolls on yes 3 acres...bottom land along river..that helps...
Knowing the drought is there any fire trucks that haul water . So that you could waters field at night? We found it helped. They were filling pools for people so we asked and it helped us . Just a suggestion.
Gosh damn you guys can't catch a break in the weather and get some rain, Brian have you seen it this bad b4 in your years of farming there?.....be safe guys, we're all pulling for ya
Well at least you got some hay. Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get, Forest Gump. I love bidding on line, the last minute is so exciting.
I hope one day soon we can all look back and say "I'm so happy that drought is over finally!" The discrepancy between what you normally bale and this is almost unbelievable. Leaves y'all an extra 14K to buy hay. Praying for rain.
Actually I think with all those tropical storms should start seeing more rain in the forecast for the midwestern and great lakes regions in July and August.
Dad always said if you want to make sure you get rain, let somebody cut hay! Apparently, it doesn't work in your area. 😢 What a blessing to have Cole farming with you! You are very CORRECT MR. SONNE truer words were never spoken!! BROOKS AND DUNN are FANTASTIC
You guys are the best to watch. Thank You for making my day with each video

All for now. Thanks for everything.
The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
Ronnie Dunn is definitely one of the greatest singer's ever. Seen him in concert and it was awesome.
Attitude is everything. Both Brian and Cole have great attitudes. It can teach us non-farmers a thing or three.
I sure appreciate the insights from Brian’s tractor seat. Sometimes life’s tough but ya gotta learn how to learn from it and whip it next year. There you go! Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and Brian. Thank you so much.
I will agree that Brian or Brain as he’s known by many. Is in the league of all the great scholars of history.
This family is the salt of the earth. They have lived right and are enjoying the results. I wish woke liberals would watch this to see what life could be with kindness and hard work.

My heart goes out to yall. I pray that you get rain soon. We were in a horrible drought but have been blessed this spring.

Can we get another video of Brian reading his moms journal? That was so good!

Thoughts and prayers for end of drought from East Tennessee !
So when the rain commences, we'll be hearing "Brian's Song" by Brian Sonne!
I love that song. ❤
Praying big for rain. God Bless.
Great choice for song of the day.
Thank you for doing what you do. Good words Brian. Will do my best to live by them.

I’m thinking Pinky needs to do the old speedo rain dance or wash and wax all the vehicles and equipment, one of those is sure to bring the rain.😂
