- Mcdoubles back again with a brand new video and today we combine holy and frost magic utilizing the Icy Prism legendary enchant and the brand new Glacial Light epic worldforged enchant on Project Ascension Season 8!
We go through multiple iterations and ideas for this build in this video. We start off trying to create an intellect melee hybrid build with spells like Flametongue Weapon and Hammer of Righteousness and then pivot into a full on Holy/Frost caster build that aims to shatter icy prisms on our target and then bathe them in glacial light! We also talk a bit about new changes happening in Ascension soon and open up a bunch of golden skill cards in our hunt for Icy Veins to make this build even better!

It's interesting to see a caster version of this spec, this is the basis I use when I turned it into a tank spec. Judgement, conc, coc and icy prism are my bread and butter plus I use the frost nova wre which procs inatant smites over and over!
Also maybe it would benefit you to clean reinstal ascension for the performance issues? Make sure to backup your wtf and interface folders if you do.

Hey that's my build from Malganis! :) Loved the spellcasting spec of this just spam frostbolt until you have the insta smite procs. You don't even have to use coc that way. Smite will even hit harder if you time it right with empowered frostbolt. Netherwind gear is broken that way imagine instacasts Frostbolts and Smites I didn't want to change gear when TBC came out! I think I will try it again now that there is this new enchant. Area 52: Kruos

have you ever made a video on a mana fiend build, i've seen some but no matter how hard i try, my demonic persistence always do more damage and the rotation is smoother.
try running mikscrolling battle text, might help solve the issue of lagging with al the numbers, msbt condenses it down so its not as jumbled all over the screen

It's all perspective. I'd rather get a lot of other things and I see Divine Protection regularly because its one of the earliest legendaries that you can roll. So it's not particularly rare, it's just a fine ability, so that to me makes it basically a horrible draw.

Regarding your comments about build diversity and strength. I find it interesting there are more playable(top 5% dps) specs on retail than there are on Ascension.
yeah, and when a spec is bad on retail it means that it does 10% less dmg than others, not 50-70% like on ascension. Its kinda said at this point, cuz its all on legendary enchants (what devs control), as a player u can't do much, no theory craft will beat a legendary random enchant.

McDoubles, I have been enjoying your videos since I started playing Ascension over the last couple of weeks.
I have leveled up a few character's so far and am primarily playing a mostly-shaman healer.
Is there a trick to getting any specific cards? I really need Riptide and have had zero luck so far.
I mostly spam Chain Heal in dungeons, so none of the healing legendary enchants do anything for me. I think i would be better off just replacing the legendary option with another 5% reduction to Chain Heal cost at this point.
When i discovered this violet enchant i though of a memetic cauterizing shaman character xD
Frostbolt doesn’t shatter the prism. I made the same mistake trying out this RE. It procs from holy spells and abilities; frostbolt just spreads it, but doesn’t shatter it.
You should do a hoplite build with shieldwall soldier

The amount of money people have wasted on XP auras and pots from all the prestige re-rolls is nuts.
Stupid question: Why even frostbokt spamming? Shouldn’t it be mostly holy dmg spells (to spread the dot and benefit from the crit debuff it provides on the target)?

QUESTION: Is there a mystic enchant that makes your frostbolt hit multiple targets? If so, that should proc fingers of frost more often. - Smackmesilly
I don't believe so. The only things that go with Frostbolt and do AoE that I can think of is Frost Bomb and the new epic enchant that cleaves on FoF proc and they're not really what you're asking about.
There’s also Hydrocicle or whatever that one is, but it doesn’t hit multiple targets.

It would be a lot of effort for what snowblind does. Maybe the melee version for sure, definitely not the caster version imo.
So on temple the longer you hold the ball the more damage buff you get but also the more damage you take, grabbing the ball and running mid is not good strat,, having someone with dot build or instant cast range grab ball and everyone protect him till he gets stacks max then he can 1 shot people and that's best way to win

To be fair. If you find yourself in a losing BG while lvling, FEED the other team. As is youre not gonna be moving up a bracket, but as they kill you and get tons of xp they will move up a bracket and you wont have to deal with those players any longer. Chances of getting into another BG with a more balanced group is higher if you force push all the tryhards up and out of your bracket.

I love your vids, so no hate, but Blizzard has WAY more resources to perfect and smooth out game performance, right?
The weird thing is that I've never had these issues until Season 8. I mean it felt iffy towards the end of Season 7 but I really did think it was my fault then so I wasn't thinking about it in this context. But at this point (the devs have confirmed it to) it's definitely not my computer or my drivers or anything like that. It's something with my addons, something with the client, something but I don't understand it or know what it is. It's sus.
edit: but yeah Blizzard definitely has way more resources, but I don't feel like 10 fps on raids and the weird choppiness I get is warranted regardless of the resources if I'm honest.

While this is a good build and all, if lack of proccing fingers of frost isn't doing well. Why not look into frostbrand weapon? give a chance to proc with each melee attack. Just a penny for a thought.

New? Probably Arctis and Fuego unless you don't consider it new since it's so overplayed so far this season. I don't know honestly, maybe Titanic Mutilate/Wind Rager with Herods Legacy if you just want to do 10k dps for nothing and feel strong while doing it.

Randomly found your videos, no idea whats happening, but your entertaining so I've binged around 4 hours of content. Why don't they just give the obvious Tier 1 builds a -25% damage for their key abilities to vring them inline with others? Seems simple enough.
The biggest problem with Ascension is that if they nerf Fireball by 25% to hit a strong fire spec, every other weak fire spec that uses Fireball is royally screwed. The fix for this, imo, is creating some kind of baseline damage and then adding modifiers to legendary enchants that increase and decrease specific spells damage. That's a lot of work though, and also solidifies Ascension as being "pick a legendary enchant, and now build around it" which it's already that but if they admit it it's no longer classless in many ways and they may be afraid of how that looks. This is conjecture and theorycrafting on my part, but I think it's pretty accurate.

Hard agree on casters in dresses/kilts. They should be divided at the very least for ease of movement and riding mounts

Nah its not, that's why it's so frustrating. I'm on retail as I type this doing all the content in the game at max graphics and 120+ fps permanently. Every game I play is perfect. Just Ascension that's not since the end of Season 7. It's horrendous. The devs are trying to work with me to fix it, and it's a very annoying process overall.

@@Mcdoubles There was an Nvidia driver that caused fps issues to people who have 1000s and 2000s series video cards. On Wotlk Classic on my first couple of weeks of raiding doing Naxx/OS/EoE (all 25s) I had no issues whatsoeer and after the said driver update, my game was literally freezing on some fights and it was very annoying. But after a couple of new driver updates, the issues were gone. Idk what is the deal with Ascension but your issues started around the same time as that bad driver update.

I wanted to make a pre-watch comment... Oooooh no he won't be happy with this one.
It looks like one of the first builds I made this season. Glacial Light is really cool. But... it was just another average caster build. Hopefully the McDoubles version finds a way.
I think the finalized version in my discord is probably pretty good, but you're a good guesser!
@Mcdoubles Video over. And ya what I expected. Fun build (a bit toooo spammy for my tastes), but the melee version is just better sadly.
You called it, definitely a build that wants to use 4-5 Epic REs.
Couple things missed:
Deep Freeze is nice ST boss damage and reduced CD by your Frostbolt spam (Chilled to the Bone) *just saw this in your discord build
Absolute Zero(Frost Nova) - Unless it was nerfed - procs "direct frost damage" making you a Smite machine gun build. You use Cone of Cold to keep Prisms up. Can also spam Holy Nova. Nice AoE damage... but any caster can just spam Seed of Corruption and do well so, eh. They just need to up caster cleave and remove Seed.
But... the reason I like your videos is now I'm logging into Ascension to reroll this build again and see how it does with my current gear and going all in with Ice Barrier that I didn't have (6% more dmg, 8% haste when it breaks) The destination may always disappoint, but the journey is fun! ;)

I know it sucks to have the lag spikes, freezes and shit, but it still slightly annoys me when you keep comparing Ascension to Retail, Ascension is not Retail.
Ascension is using a modified version of 3.3.5, there's 13 years of development, bug fixing and optimization between Ascension and the Retail client.
With that out the way I do enjoy your videos on Ascension, especially healer videos since I'm a healer main. Curious to see what they do with the new REs.

There was no excuses here man. The game was fine before Season 8. The devs worked with me and fixed the lag after 4 months. It was a huge blunder on their part.
has to be said again ascension is no longer classless its just fotm now and its extremely dull all the new re imo ruined the server
RE are basically forcing people to play "classes" made by the dev team or you dont compete at all

I've seen pugs asking for 4k (probably desperate to flil) and 5k. The more dps the easier the run is going to be and the more gear you get, the easier it will be to bring an average build up to 6k dps. So probably yeah.
