This is exciting to see fun new tank and healer builds coming out to try, wonder if they could bring the shadow mend spell out for this build in place of flash of light for a heal you could use outside of combat and in shadow form ~Lubu
I feel like drain life would be more vampire-y than drain soul. It's weird Ascension didn't think of that and the health funnel for pets but you can heal the beacon of shadow or whatever with it.
Grove ranger is like the positive guy in a group that doesn't do a lot healing and gets the loot, but the edgy guy in the group carrying the healing out of pure spite because of them is hilarious to me lol - Brogrg
What about getting seed of corruption for M+? i feel like that would heal like crazy. Also seems like a huge waste to use corruption or Agony on mobs that die that fast... I'm not an ascension player but rule of thumb is usually that dots are only worth putting up if you get the full duration (In wrath idk about other Xpacks)
Hey! If I can provide some input. The healing from vampire lord is only from "Single Target Shadow Spells" So spells like Seed of Corruption only procc the heal from 1 target. Also I think your correct, When I play this spec in dungeons where things die fast I generally try to just spam the Unholy Light instead of putting dots out.
I like to play this with seed of corruption and the enchant that leaves corruption on the target after seed pops. I also use the enchant that causes shadowburn to leave corruption on the target after casting 5 spells with cast times. I had shadowflame on one version and it was really good with nightfall and seed of corruption spam. Was topping meters if mobs stayed alive (if there were not any dragon wars in the party) Implementing drain soul into the shadowbolt area of the enchant would be very good as well. “Shadowbolt and Drain Soul causes extra healing to Beacon” Really want some extra heals included in this LRE as well. Holy Shock “unholy shock” would work good to help the lack of spot heals especially if there was a way to stack the ability for it to crit. Something like “Shadowbolt crits give your Unholy Shock an additional 50% chance to crit stacking twice” or just allow Unholy Light to be casted on Allies as well as enemies.
Holy paladin talent: light's grace reduces the cast time of holy light & prayer of healing spells by 0.5sec, which helps a lot for quicker heal output. 19:13 those extra mobs wouldn't be a problem if you didn't stand out in Narnia so the knockback would punt you into them. :3
As a healer main, it gave me literal pain to watch you do those M0 dungeons and complain about not clearing the room in Ras' place and pull adds. McD, my friend, you need to learn how to play "optimal" as a healer. Ras pushes you away. And if you could just stack behind the boss, position yourself in front of the wall, you wouldn't have pulled. Same with other dungeons. You tent to not do some tactics, such as avoiding poison clouds. And thus, causing yourself to need to work harder to keep people up, especially yourself. A good healer, in my opinion, rarely takes damage. If you want, I can tutor you and point your mistakes :D But all these aside, I could see the hidden potential in this RE and I'm loving it. If only we could turn into a vampire, like in WotLK, that would be awesome. -Pigeon

As i have said before, its just still a shittier version of a smite healer (if you are using shadow form). And the only "vampire" thing about it is the flavour text on the RE. A vampire should be doing Blood infusions/transfusions, shadow bolt and mind blast spam.....really? The easy fix is to let the Vampire Lord RE use Shadow form without the negative effect (can cast regular healing spells). And honestly, would ANYONE take a vamp lord healer to anything if they had a choice? Ranked on a scale of best to worst healer Vamp healer is below some tanks, hell, most tanks with some kind of healing mechanic >.< Grove ranger and Vamp lord should at most be considered "of-healers" and in a game like Ascension there is no room for a terrible hybrid that does mediocre damage while not being able to keep a small group of players alive. When "healing rain" feels like its the best healing spell in your arsenal well....that says a lot.....and that is before you gimp yourself even more with shadow form. Vamp lord needs a spammable single target heal that isnt locked into damaging an enemy. At the end of the day, cool idea...terrible execution.

I do like playing healing class, but any of RE's don't fulfill my classless fantasy. I would love something way way different than the standard healer, but still to make sense. And my idea would be to make totemic healer/buffer. Plan is to have him super mobile and require to place totems in certain positions. For example you place 3 totems to fit as many teammates inside this triangle and it will make this area aoe heal similar to healing rain. And other totems would give other effects like dmg shields, earth shields and other buffs. Key is to instead of casting you would be required to move a lot and place totems with short duration. Maybe totems would require charging to give this effects for longer instead just having short duration. Just don't stand and cast healer, because im bored of it and hots are even more boring
I always loved the shadow healer concept and played the drain soul warlock healer a while ago. I think they dropped the ball on this spec for me. At the end of the day it really is just shadow bolt spam, making a "unholy" version of prayer of healing and beacon of light is just lazy design imo. If you're going to "transform" spells actually transform them rather than making different colored copies. Looks to be a fun raid spec but I wish they did more with shadow priest spells specifically to make new additions to the play style rather than just make vampiric embrace a bit better.
I'm an old fart, it seems like I need an Excel spread sheet to keep track of all the things these enchants can do(with dependencies). I enjoy Ascension but I feel like some builds are just way more complicated than need be. Lift your left foot up when casting this, or burp when casting this, and then X will happen. I guess that's why I'm digging Turtle at the moment.🤔
It's really cool that they buffed Grove Ranger and that Vamp Lord pumps out so much healing. "Deal damage to heal" archetypes have always been my favorite kinds of healers (at least when they're tuned properly and don't feel like ass to play), so to see that sort of playstyle getting love on Ascension is cool to see. - Gharik

McDoubles @a around the 16 minute mark you were kind of blaming yourself for the dps. Modern players in retail and Ascension just don't see using defensives as their responsibility they just say oh it's a healer mechanic and stand in the mechanics with no defensives.
Mcdoubles doubt you will see this but you probably have more luck than me to do it. I have been playing with vamplord I think the epic re’s Soul siphoner, Dusk till dawn and Veil of shadows would be better but I’m never able to roll curse of elements to fully test also I find it funny how the build I made with no help was the same in this video but I think it would be better with veil of shadow.
I love mcdoubles, but man, when he was targetting his tank who was actively dying to read a buff, spamming his shadowbolt button to heal him that wasnt going off because he was targetting a friendly, and yelling “how” it kinda fried my healer brain a bit lmao.

Having it open to players allows for large scale testing, freeing them up to focus on other things and ultimately get the build in a better place balance-wise and faster than it otherwise would have been. Pretty obvious that they’re being strategic about that and for good reason.

I try it some seasons back I remember one enchant that makes your bleeds heal you (more sense) and I like it, with enough bleeds and increase damage of bleeds can make a very good balanced character altleast before you figth agains one crazy crits guy

You weren’t getting any healing from drainsoul because you were using the unbound version which is aoe . It only heals from single target shadow spells
So I was able to heal m 0 no problem with my tree of wrath gear. I didn't see unholy prayer was castable in shadow form so I might reroll and try no thing but shadow spells
So it's like Cauterizing flames except it sucks? All this mess could have been done right by making SP priest healing better... "Your Shadow Word Pain is transformed into Shadow word Drain causing friendly targets to draw the life force from enemy targets within 10yds." Done.

Having played melee CoJ back on Al'ar TBC it seems like I'm noticing a theme with all the hybrid healers where they just don't have the HPS to cope with burst in situations like M+. With CoJ I'd have everyone at full health, take a global to crusader strike and then halfway through that GCD someone takes a big hit, i go to cast a greater heal and then they're dead by the end of the cast and then the tank is getting chunked in the meantime. I honestly feel that spec needs a rework where melee hits not only heal adorned targets but put up some kind of stack like grove ranger does with healing touch, where maybe you can get off a holy healing spell on an instant cast. Hell, take another que from grove ranger where having Str gear while in spirit stat gives more AP and healing power. -Yrathel

I am in the process of making my own 'vampire lord' build. I'm going to be using Dark Apotheosis, Hellscream and Twilight. I don't have nearly as many REs so I was just going to get the Intimidating Shout & Vampiric Touch and work my way from there. Here's the build: 986dd169-65a9-43cb-b047-108490d81a29 It wears cloth and wields a staff with its primary stat being either strength or intellect (will need to test).
i love these new worldforged enchants, they make the game feel like AQWorlds (a very old browser game) the game had an insane amount of classes and there were tons of ways to unlock them ranging from events to secrets and quests this feels very similiar even tho you're only unlocking an enchant but lets be honest, these legendary enchants feel like a new class
i suggest swapping CoA for SW Pain: more healing cos vampiric embrace heals from Priest dmg. + i wouldnt use Shadowform because you dont have any form of direct heal on others than your Beacon, so you need some kind of Heal (which you can´t use in Shadowform anyway)
For Tank Spot healing I guess this can be sth compareable to harbinger of pestilence with shadowbolt focus and whenni saw twilight shock I got the idea of dusk till dawn what's your opinion on this @Mcdoubles ?
Mcdoubles you need to use the Quest items "Cologne Neutralizer" OR Perfume Neutralizer to do the Vday event. you can also loot them from the table

You can press haunt on cd because it’ll come back and heal when the new one applies.

You need a magic dispel, the blue overlay on the vuhdo frame is magic and whatever it was killed the tank in that scholo
try Cryotherapist or Steward of Eternity next.. they look pretty cool as well.

I agree with you... I wish this LRE didn't have to turn into a shadowbolt build like every other shadow school enchant. Where's the VT/DP build??
As to why Lulu died at around 20:44 is because you stopped shadowbolting the boss.
So i found out that Haunt's heal can happen when you refresh it so there is no reason to let it fall off

Its aoe so I dont think it procs healing off the explosion. I can use an RE to make it spread corruption, but it felt kind of meh
Having played melee CoJ back on Al'ar TBC it seems like I'm noticing a theme with all the hybrid healers where they just don't have the HPS to cope with burst in situations like M+. With CoJ I'd have everyone at full health, take a global to crusader strike and then halfway through that GCD someone takes a big hit, i go to cast a greater heal and then they're dead by the end of the cast and then the tank is getting chunked in the meantime. I honestly feel that spec needs a rework where melee hits not only heal adorned targets but put up some kind of stack like grove ranger does with healing touch, where maybe you can get off a holy healing spell on an instant cast. Hell, take another que from grove ranger where having Str gear while in spirit stat gives more AP and healing power.

I have try farming for thw Wizard Shadow Bolt, but all Humanoid I kill trop only Fighter enchant even if I kill caster. Unless they change stuff I think this will be a Raid spec only but not for Mythic. - Narwen
hey man isint maybe the shman t1 set better for your darkranger build (i am speaking if the sp and ap set for meeles because i gues the t1 hunter set boni are not great for darkranger) just to think about that ign pristo
apparently shaman t2 is the best from what some guys doing ascended content have told me. I also thought the t1 set looked good.
I am in the process of making my own 'vampire lord' build. I'm going to be using Dark Apotheosis, Hellscream and Twilight. i love these new worldforged enchants, they make the game feel like AQWorlds (a very old browser game)
the game had an insane amount of classes and there were tons of ways to unlock them ranging from events to secrets and quests
this feels very similiar even tho you're only unlocking an enchant but lets be honest, these legendary enchants feel like a new class
i suggest swapping CoA for SW Pain: more healing cos vampiric embrace heals from Priest dmg. + i wouldnt use Shadowform because you dont have any form of direct heal on others than your Beacon, so you need some kind of Heal (which you can´t use in Shadowform anyway)
For Tank Spot healing I guess this can be sth compareable to harbinger of pestilence with shadowbolt focus and whenni saw twilight shock I got the idea of dusk till dawn what's your opinion on this @Mcdoubles ?

Why is Shadow Word Pain bad? It's a single target shadow spell ... which your WRE is based around.
because this spec has more warlock synergy and not as much shadow priest synergy, so its probably pointless.
