I thought I was going crazy! I’m 37 and I started going grey prematurely in my 20s. I’ve been carnivore for almost 6 months now and I noticed my greys retreating. I saw my brother for the first time in 3 months and he thought I dyed my hair.

My grandfather ate only meat a lot of steak tartar and drank his urine when he fasted and he was 85 and had no grey hair before he died. He ate turtles and squirrels his whole life no matter how much the rest of the family looked on in dismay as he skinned them in the tub to prepare them. He wasn't sick and told me he was going to die because he was simply bored because everything he knew had changed and most of his friend were dead. He died six months later in his sleep while I was in the next room. His dog died the same night. Crazy.

Have you heard the joke about the bacon tree?
There are two men crawling through the desert, dying of hunger and thirst. Suddenly one of them pauses and says to his companion, "Can you smell that? It's a bacon tree! We're saved!" He can see a little spot in the distance and it is from this that the enticing smell is coming. He and his companion crawl as fast as they can towards it.
The man who first smelled the bacon is a little stronger than his companion and he is able to crawl faster. The other man stops to rest but the first pushes on. As he comes within arms reach of the plant it suddenly produces an automatic weapon and starts firing. The man collapses to the ground and with his dying breath, says, "Go away. It's not a bacon tree, it's a ham bush."

I too have seen my grey hair retreat. I'm a 58-year-old woman and my grey hair came on 6 or 7 years ago, enough that I started getting it dyed at the hairdressers every 2 months. Around that time I started leaning into Atkins style eating - meat heavy, low carb vegies. I was not very strict but kept up lots of red meat even when I fell into the gutter and all that bread, chocolate and cookies.
Two years ago I found zerocarb and kept up the red meat and added regular fasting. These days I eat a 'meat heavy' diet - still have the bad treats but they are much less than they were. So even though I've never bean strict carnivore, just lots of red meat, the grey hair has retreated now to only being in a small patch at my temples and a faint grey along the front hairline. All those wiry grey hairs scattered through my hair have gone. This was not something I was expecting or looking to happen as a consequence of eating lots of meat, so I can safely say it was a great, unexpected side-effect - and I no longer feel the need to dye my hair.

@@catsrus2890 Three years on and the grey around my temples might be SLIGHTLY more than it was then, and there's still grey just along my hairline but it blends in very well with my natural hear colour and I still don't feel the need to dye my hair because there is no grey THROUGH my hair anymore. I also have to say the texture of my hair is MUCH better than it was 5 years ago and I'm in the post-menopausal phase where hair is supposed to be dry and sad.
I also now use no products whatsoever on my hair - I'm six weeks into the no-shampoo thing - it only gets a warm rinse once a week in the shower - and my hair is loving it and the look and texture of it is great. I credit this to the (mostly) carnivore diet because I have tried the no-shampoo thing many times in the past and always caved at the 3-week mark because it was so greasy and looked terrible.

We know that the body gets less efficient at absorbing, synthesizing, and using nutrients over time. There is also good evidence that the body intelligently prioritizes nutrient use so that nutrients are first used for vital functions before being used for less vital functions. Given that hair quality is one of our less vital functions, it would make sense for it to be one of the first things to suffer when the body begins triaging. It would also make sense that the body can restore lost hair quality if given an abundance of the resources that it had been rationing.

Yes. I followed high fat diet (for about 2 years) and lost a lot of weight and hair. I was a newly diagnosed diabetic with adverse reaction to generic Metformin. I was scared to eat a lot of meat because I read that meat raises blood glucose. When I switched to almost all protein my long crown hairs started to turn black from roots to ends. As I continued to eat mostly protein (about 1 1/2 years ago) new growth at the bangs started to grow and it’s black. The bangs new hair is about 1 1/2 inches long now. This is faster growth than supposedly normal. I do not take any diabetes medication after the first two weeks of being diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago. The only carbs I eat are 1/2 of a toasted white flour tortilla to make a hamburger and olives.

I think you have to stick with it for a while and it also depends on how much damage to the old bod you are fixing with carnivore. Essential body functions will get fixed first and grey hair is probably lower on the priority list. I've been carnivore now for about two years and I'm 57. I believe my body was already in good condition and therefore my hair started growing in dark (and new growth too) in less than a month on carnivore. My N=1 can support that some changes (I assume greater nutrient demands on the body. Maybe hormones ) can cause a rapid switch over to grey hair. I've had 3 babies and during each pregnancy I had sudden new greys. If I plucked one I could see the top few inches as silver and the bottom dark brown. Counting back at the average growth rate it was clear the shift happened right at the start of the pregnancy. People joke about their kids giving them grey hair but for me it's literally true.
