Flying Breeze Airways' Inaugural Flight

  • Hey guys! Almost exactly a month apart, two new US Airlines started up, both with quick hour long flights to kick off their operations. The first one being Avelo Airlines which I've already done a video on. Today, I fly aboard the even more hotly anticipated one...Breeze Airways! Instead of flying to secondary airports that are very small and have very little service, Breeze is taking a more mainstream approach flying to large cities without a major hub such as Columbus, Charleston, Hartford, Pittsburgh, and New Orleans. 80% of their planned routes will be without competition so they're really banking on people wanting to fly point to point for very cheap prices over connecting on legacy carriers through their hub airports. And what do I think of the idea? I absolutely, positively, really, very much LOVE it. I also really like how they aren't like any other airline in the US currently, especially not like Spirit, Frontier, and Allegiant even though they will be using their formulas for all the "extras". As far as onboard product though, I'd put Breeze in between Southwest and JetBlue. They will be using Embraer 190s and 195s for now until their A220s arrive - which is set to really make Breeze a solid contender. Like I say in the video, I am super optimistic about this new airline and think they'll be around for quite a while. I'll definitely be flying on them again. Hope you guys enjoy!
    Flight Info:
    Airline: Breeze Airways
    Aircraft/Registration: Embraer 195AR (N190BZ)
    Seat: 9A
Flight Time: 1 hr 5 min
    Flight #: MX 1
    Takeoff: Tampa International Airport
    Landing: Charleston International Airport
    Filmed: May 2021
Camera(s) Used: Canon Powershot G7X Mark II, GoPro HERO7 Black

David Neeleman founded Azul Airlines in Brazil and Azul today is one of the biggest airlines over there. It started as a low cost and it had some really good prices in the very beginning. Today Azul isn't a low cost any more, it competes against the big dogs. David Neeleman also saved TAP airlines from Portugal from going out of business. And now he's starting a new venture with Breeze. Just for some coincidental context, Azul in english means blue, which is the color of Breeze aircrafts. So not only David Neeleman seems to be a very good airline manager, but his color of luck is apparently blue. :)

I like the livery, it’s a tough market out there for airlines but I wish them the best of luck as I did the same for Avelo, as an employee of one of the biggest US carriers it’s good to see competition and fares being matched on new market’s to cities who have been underserved by us and other carriers, secondary airports you get to avoid all the foot traffic and headaches by missing hubs, thanks for posting

Great report my friend. Wish I could've taken it with you and everyone else! I'm glad you were able to document this historic day for aviation! It's too bad this seating layout suffers from the same old ERJ-170-195 problem of having mostly misaligned windows. I read an article somewhere that said something like "also it's seriously NICE that there are no missing windows on their aircraft, and I thought... A lot of the seats might as well not have even had a window as misaligned as they are.

    • @thejazzguy13

So great you got to be on this flight - and seated only two rows ahead of Neeleman! Looks like a party of a flight! For what it is worth, I think your assessment of where the Breeze model fits in and their chances of success are spot on, but there is no doubt Neeleman is a genius at exploiting market niches. I’m hopeful for Breeze to be as big a success as his other ventures.
Speaking of, any plans to be on JetBlue’s London inaugural by chance?

hi, I flew the e195 up to CHS yest, no service, great seats though, rude staff. The return to TPA was on the A223, and the nice seat has no lumbar support, very tight on leg room, again no service( 56min flight with turbulence due to storms) and again, staff were not friendly at all. I was kinda surprised as I was expecting the B6 style with WN hospitality. I was wrong on both. Dissapointing to be honest.

Nicely done video! It would be great if it stayed this way, but I have heard they are going to retrofit their cabins with slimline seats to add an extra row and that free snacks and drinks are temporary until summer when they implement their food and beverage marketplace. They are also supposed to have entertainment streaming by summer though. It will be interesting to see how the overall experience changes as they implement these things since they weren't ready at launch.
