Flying Aha! Airlines' Inaugural Flight

- It's time for a taste of anew on TJG13 with some of the vlog style I've been preaching about! In this video, I traveled up to Pasco, Washington from Reno, Nevada aboard the very first flight of the rebranded Expressjet, Aha! Airlines. Their main focus will be to connect smaller secondary & underserved airports together point to point with cheap low fares on ERJ-145 aircraft. Overall, as I think I make pretty clear in the video, I went into this flight with pretty low or no expectations and came out of the flight very impressed. Now, do I think they'll succeed in the long run? It'll be hard, the biggest obstacle will be to actually fill the seats. I really like their business model, but with Avelo and Breeze already preceding them just this year, I really don't see how they all can survive. But, hey we'll see what happens. I think they're a good option if you'd like to fly nonstop between two smaller cities like these over connecting at a hub, doubling your trip time. Just be prepared to pay for all extras as they're essentially an ultra low cost airline. Hope you guys enjoy!

The CEO dressing up like a high school gym teacher tho >>
He even trolls online pilot forums too (airlinepilotcentral). He's a man of many "hats".
😂
Very relaxed CEO indeed.
Just found out that Aha has filed for bankruptcy- they were scheduled to start flying out of BOI as of next week, but filed for chapter 11 instead. Not too surprising after watching your video and review of the flight (which I thoroughly enjoy- your videos are fantastic)
Former Expressjet pilot here. Thanks for sharing. Wishing the best for them. It’s been a rough year for us.
I miss my ExpressJet crews. You guys saved my @$$ a few times getting me to work.
Brankrupt lol
Nice video! Just checked it out as I'm on the inaugural RNO-ONT tomorrow, and yes...I am on Reno, and I have already met three people who know about aha, so they must be spreading the world locally.
Thanks Paul! Ikr seems like everyone there knows about Aha :D Hope you enjoyed your flight!
From another former long time ExpressJet pilot, thank you for making and posting this video. It was hard to watch what we assumed to be our last ExpressJet flight just over a year ago. I really appreciate being able to experience the start of this next venture through your video.
Wishing all the best to those who are choosing to stay on and keep the ship afloat. I truly hope it does work out for everyone involved.
It failed lol
So glad you were able to let us experience this “inaugural “ flight. Editing, music and visuals were top notch as usual!
Loved this Chris :) Yet another amazing journey. Thanks for taking us along ! Awesome choice "If Love Feels Like A Fever"
Aha! I found another well-edited video from one of my favorite RUclipsrs. Every detail of this video reflects the pride you take in your RUclips channel. I would certainly love to be your friend.
why has this gotten a like from him. lol
The 1-2 layout is great when travelling solo. Thanks for sharing the review - love watching reviews of some more unique airlines. Will have to give it a try when next in the US.
I love your new video format! I just purchased a ticket on Aha! I hope I can help fill their planes. Thanks for making this video!
Nice review! I don’t think the buzz around this venture was quite as strong as with Avelo and Breeze. Would have liked to see a more spruced-up hard product, but I guess that costs money. Wishing them success with this new operation.
I love your critiques of airlines. Keep up the good work
great to hear new airlines start up especially the small types of aircraft great little feeder airlines for on route connections near or far!
AHA has officially ceased operations on August 22, 2022.
What an awesome video presentation, keep up the good work, Chris!
I have a question what airline took you to Reno
Another great video, thanks! I don't know if I would have your adventurous spirit to fly an inaugural flight on an a/c that had been sitting in the desert for however long but more power to you! Take care and stay safe!
Excellent video Chris! I’m excited to see where this airline goes!😸
Hey Life’s Ups and Downs!
theyre gone now lol
Another great vlog bro !! Love all the editing and details !
A fan of your channel, without a doubt... Nice to see the intro. "in person".
Hi Chris, thanks for sharing your video about flying the new airline called aha!
Aha! This video made me chuckle, and now I'm happy! Was interesting to see the Tri-Cities Airport. I want to fly there sometime from Seattle on one of those Dash-8 Q400 turboprops.
Sounds cool.....enjoy pasco....I once lived in Wenatchee...
Great coverage as always, perfect execution of editing to meet yours and everyone else's taste and as always 👉#ILOVEThisCoverage and continue to do you're best with future videos and wish ya the best with School 😁🤘💪
AHA away into the skies you go, and as Jimmy Neutron once said #GottaBlast aha
You should also go into talking about the places you go too . You are really good at explaining things.
Very nice- always like your videos- and also it is interesting to secondary airports as well- very nice ride- and also very informative about aha!- wishing them the best and I really enjoy your videos- they have been a bright spot to my year and I love aviation- have since I was a kid in the 80s.
Really enjoyed this video, Chris! It was weird that they used that Express Jet aircraft instead of the other one!! 10+
I'm surprised nobody commented on the obvious AHA! Oh if only I was in public relations I would've gotten the band, stood them on steps to the plane and sing "Take On Me" with lyrics adjusted for aviation of course. I'd fly AHA. Thanks for vid heck didn't even know there was a Pasco, WA!
Jazzguy13: "Aha airlines is now up and running"
*Literally less than a year later* "Aha airlines is out of business"
Very nice video. At least the inaugural flight of AHA went smoother than my inaugural flight on California Pacific some years ago between Carlsbad and SJC.
As a former expressjet mechanic. It's nice to see them doing well. Hopefully they call me back
It`s refreshing to see new airlines flying Chris! We had 2 new ones here in Brazil and we are all waiting for the best! Thanks for sharing.
Very well done video ! Cool to see. Thanks !
RIP TSAirlines. They had a base of some sort at RDU and loved seeing them now we only get Republic from United
I live right next to RDU and never heard a thing bout this new airline lol
Hey Chris, great video, great shots, and great sense of humor. However, I doubt I will be ever will be going to " Cow Land" and experiencing the particular aroma of Cow manure. Hey Chris, tell us how are doing in San Fransisco, how are you getting used to living there after having grown on the east coast. What are things that are hard for you to get used to? It would be interesting to learn what are the height contrasting cultural idiosyncracies and styles of living you are going through in your new life. Furthermore, let us know how your musical career plans are progressing.
I knew aha was coming, but I didn't know this fast!
Very cool!
“Your backpack may not fit since it’s such a small plane.” Then at the end of the jet bridge: “here’s this big canvas bag of aha! swag.” 😆
That flight was smackin
What are the Cameras and Equipment used to record flight and vlog?
Watching the CEO doing his little speech at the inaugural, you can see by his body language that he already knows this venture is doomed to failure. He might as well be lighting money on fire at this point. ExpressJet at one time had 275 ERJ145’s and the best they could find was a clapped out old Trans States bird from the desert? They couldn’t get ahold of a single one of their former legacy planes that they at least knew the maintenance history on? Anyway, I would wish them luck, but I’m not convinced they will be around more than a few months. Before anyone skewers me as being a hater, far from it. I was a pilot with the original Continental Express when the planes were brand new and the only thing ExpressJet on the Airplanes was the branding on the engines. Good luck to any former colleagues that might still be there after all these years, I hope you are able to find a niche that works, but I’m not convinced this business model will be the right one.
I could tell too. The fact they wanted to charge him $30 for a carry on is kinda of a ripoff and using a “old” ExpressJet regional jet instead of the new airlines livery?
You were right
Nice video dude! Great format and music.
So cool 😎 👍💐
i live in western mass. where would Aha! fly from?
who hand pays you at the RNO airport slot machines?
ex trans states a/c as there owner is hulas Kanodia hence the HK on the registration
I love the vlog style videos! The only problem is that it is much easier for my parents to catch me watching youtube because I have to keep the volume on so that I can hear what you say
Great video Chris!
I agree
Super presentation once again young man. You are a very talented youtuber.
So cool that you got to interview the CEO of AHA!
“The region is known for its more than 300 days of sunshine each year, making it a great place for outdoor activities.” One of the 65 days that you were there.
I’m not sure if I remember hearing that this would be a new airline, but I might’ve actually. And I’ve been to the Reno airport 11 years ago. That’s the last time I flew on Southwest Airlines when I did a round trip between Chicago Midway and there. And it’s the last time I flew at that Chicago airport. I’ve been going there lately only on trains and buses since I don’t live too far from there at all. I want to check out downtown Reno someday.
You should check out the new Avelo flight between New Haven Ct and Lakeland Florida someday.
i was lowkey spacing out and you brought up hartford and my eyes shot up at my screen, idk what it is that grabs my attention when i hear about my small little state
Receipt as a boarding pass. Back in the olden days I'd walk up to the PSA or AirCal counter, plunk down $20 and get a Receipt that printed from a cash register. That was a boarding pass!
Still trying to wrap my mind around Express Jet using Ex- Trans States equipment. I believe only their 145XRs went to Commutair so where are their 100+ 145LRs?
They keep getting fucked up in the desert. But yea lets fly shitty maintained transtate planes 😆
They should have just merged with commutair
I love your videos ❤❤❤
Some backpacks are huge though. I have seen backpacks that look as big as a carry-on.
Why is the CEO dressed like he just came from his second job as a school janitor?
That's a lot of gifts for an inaugural flight! So sad I haven't got a chance to fly with them before they went bankrupt
R.I.P. Aha! (2021 - 2022)
it is express jets only service now since they dont fly for UA anymore
Good review! Just to clarify its not AHA that doesnt let large backpacks on the plane its any airline that flies ERJ 140 and 145's like American Airlines/American Eagle does also
That seems like a very strange route. Perhaps they know something I don't. Hope it all work's out for them.
I wonder if ExpressJet might consider getting some bigger metal in the near future? Reminds me of a Reno Air. Would love to see them grab some A220's in the future.
Will never forget before boarding our Delta flight, I hit a $4,000 jackpot at RNO! It was epic!!
As for the low turnout? Pasco? Yeah, it's definitely a route that will take some time to develop. I bet if they start PAE or SEA, those flights will do pretty good. RNO to PSP will be a hit. And last but not least, LAS and PHX will do very good too.
Gotta get me some shirts so I can help promote the airline! Praying this airline is successful!
We had 175 till united fucked us
It failed lol, prayer failed.
GLad you had fun buy how did you find out about this airline? I have never heard about that until your trip???
I bought a ticket for the ONT-RNO inaugural on Thursday, but I'm not going anymore. I'll be waking up in Vegas and going home to Omaha that night.
- Red
With all those mints you ought to have the freshest mouth around! LOL! Aha Airlines is beginning a flight from our airport KGEG to Reno beginning in December. They have tickets on sale now for as low as $49 per person. It will be one arrival & one departure per day.
Ive flown on the old Expressjet before back in 2008 twice from Omaha to Tucson and back and Omaha to San Diego and back
I love your vids & hair 😁
Reno let’s go
Going to be flying from PSCO to RENO on AHA in December
yes... it was a bad omen. You jynxed them!
The old Expressjet boarded back to front just like AHA back in 2008 they did preboard then family boarding then rows 9-19 then rows 1-8
Did u gamble?
andddd just like that Aha is bankrupt!!
Aha that’s nice 😂
I hope they play Take On Me on loop.
Hartford in the HOUSE!!!
Expressjet operated out of gate B20 at Omaha Eppley Airfield on an Embareer 145
Wouldnt it have made more sense for express to simply merge with commutair as they both use the erj's
In Canada they have a new airline called Flair Air which is a low cost airline
It's no bad they couldn't have used the aha branded jet, it would have been better advertising to other people at both airports to get to know the real operating name of the airline. A first flight RNO-PSC wouldn't have generated a lot of local traffic I'm thinking. A better first flight routing may have had the aircraft fuller.
The opening shot of the video aged like fine milk...
This dude has fabulous hair.
The ERJ 145 looks like a flying pencil ✏️
Yep, the mightly EMB-145 PencilLiner
And the 757-300.
You flew this route when the west Coast was getting swamped with rain
When you fly with AHA you will see that The Sun Always Shine On TV 😁😁😁
at least they came up with a original name vs eastern frontier etc
ERJ 145 expressJet. That's all I need to know.
So many small airlines with a very condensed market. They say, startups are likely to fail within the first 18 months. And as already happened, they failed.
It really wasnt a startup, it was a subsidiary of a larger company that ended up failing due to their holding company getting screwed over by united by pulling their stake.
I'm flying AHA tonight at 4:25 PM PSCO - RNO
I wonder if anyone at Hop! Airlines has seen this branding? It’s very very close.
Aha? Airlines? Unique name....
Chris, I hope you send me some more video!
Welp, Aha has officially declared bankruptcy and ceased all operations
A HA......ITS A 145
Welcome To AJAX Airways!!!
Just a reboot of Reno Air from the early 90’s with the use of smaller jets.
Why do you think new airlines keep coming and coming and coming and coming?
The fact they didn't serve AHA sparkling water on this flight was a missed opportunity.
So Take on Me to fly with AHA!! 😂😂😂😂😂
