      @@AnthonyWilliams-ot1ykOne of my first concerts ever at 9. They played during an ice storm in SC. I loved the band and was surprised when my brother and I were the only 2 Black people there. The song was played on both Rock and the R&B radio station. It was awesome and we met the band after the show. They asked me what made me a fan because I was so young. I explained I was learning saxophone and discovered I could play songs by ear and their 2 hits I heard, I learned to play fairly easily.

    Another band I have seen live. This time as a naval recruit in San Diego. That's right, I saw Pablo Cruz in Boot Camp. A USO sponsored event. Trust me, it was a very regimented and stiff ordeal. Primarily because there were Marine recruits in attendance as well and their Drill Instructors had those poor marine recruits sitting at stiff attention. I'll never forget it. Every last one of them sitting perfectly still with their hands at their sides crunched into fists. A select few passing out cans of soda in a most orderly, disciplined way. On the other side, sailors dancing and cutting loose. Yelling with joy for the first time in weeks. Venting from the culture shock of boot camp. It was quite the contrast. An unforgettable event.
    Regardless, chock up another band I have seen live in their prime. RSR has reacted to most of them by now, not all of them though.

Dave Jenkins now only does some of the vocals and they have 2 lead singers. Cory Lerios sang a new version of " this time" with revised lyrics and quite a few changes. I first saw them back in 2000 with Bud Cockrell, before all the new members joined . That was their 1st time getting back together, since the 80s

    Great reaction to a fun song. This group embodied "fun" (and mellow) music. Good personal memory from Pablo Cruise. Our son was born in late '77 and was an infant when "Worlds Away" came out in mid-'78. He was fussy one day and Becky thought some music might calm him down so she put on the album and he chilled out straight away. From then on she used Pablo Cruise as a pacifier for him! LOL Proof that the band was about fun is when folks would ask them "Which one is Pablo?" they would always answer "He's the one in the middle." but they were a quartet so there was no middle! Keep up the great work. Peace out.

      @shyman99 I bought Part of the Game as a cutout vinyl circa 87, just to complete my Pablo discography. I had no idea there would be this song that I loved, yet forgot existed, cause radio never touched it after 79. Cool Love still gets a little airplay, Don't Want To Live is another one radio doesn't touch

    • @dawnpatrol700
      @dawnpatrol700 9 месяцев назад +1

      @shyman99 you may be right, it is VERY disco, and that may be why it dropped off the face of the earth. I was young when Pablo had all their hits and I just bought 45s in those years 77-81. When I got older in the 80s, I went back and listened to my old 45s and they made me want to buy full LPS of all that stuff, even though the current era was Madonna and Duran Duran. Even though I'm an 80s kid, I gravitate more towards the 70s. I'd rather listen to Time Passages or Chuckes In Love, than my generation of Madonna and Poison. I like it all, but my heart is in 70s soft rock

    • @dawnpatrol700
      @dawnpatrol700 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@shyman99 one song from Part of the Game that never gets mentioned, is " for another town" I love the Casio-sounding auto arpeggio , and it has the classic Pablo escapist quality, that the album overall doesn't have. Part of the Game seems different from all other Pablo albums, in that it's not escapist, it's in the midst of relationship nightmares, desperation and dramas. The other albums seem more optimistic and happy, while this one sounds and feels like a bad divorce. That being said, it's one of my favorite Pablo albums

    My personal favorite from this band is a song called
    "Cool Love". Released in 1981, and went to #13 on the billboard charts...

    They got their name from San Pablo Avenue that went through San Pablo ,Richmond and Berkeley so it was a great “cruise “ back in the day when everybody cruised in their cars on Friday and Saturday nights!

    Pablo Cruise's "Runnin'" (also called "Running Away") has an instrumental intro that gets your heart beating.

    I'm glad you got around to listening to this one. It plays in a summer soundtrack in my head of a long lost summer of my youth spent at the swimming pool.

    Back in the mid eighties myself and two classmates had to make a 150 mile trip to Little Rock from Northern Arkansas that had to do with our college courses. One of the others was twenty years older than the other two of us. He swore this was the greatest song ever composed to "smoke" to😉.
    Turned out he was right. 😂

    Thank you for giving the people what they want! I've been suggesting this song for ages! You need to check out Whatcha Gonna Do? It's another smooth vibe that you'll both love.

    I saw them first around '76 - 77 playing an outdoor end of summer Labor Day weekend concert at Kirkwood Ski Resort in California and then again last Summer outdoor at Sand Harbour in Incline Village, NV. A couple of the original members still playing and going strong.
