New 2021 Audi SQ7 - Best large SUV on the market?

- When we tested the original Audi SQ7 a couple of years ago, we were very impressed. With Audi having recently updated the car, we were keen to get behind the wheel and see what had changed. Boasting a twin turbo diesel V8 engine that kicks out 900nm of torque, along with 7 seats and a big boot, the SQ7 offers performance and practicality in equal measure. But how does it compare with competitors like the Porsche Cayenne S, BMW X5 M or Range Rover Sport SVR? And what about it's sister car, the SQ8? Paul discusses all this and more.

Wonderful vehicle. When I was in sales these sold like crazy and people were mind blown by the quality. Lots of BMW and Mercedes SUV trade-ins for them.
People whine about "track performance" not considering one of these will NEVER be taken on a track. What they do best is what they always have, comfortable traveling. Just now, with more power. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Not reinventing the wheel, just reinventing how fast they spin!

This car makes sense. It looks good, performance great and is good to daily. - I still would prefer something with a grumbly V8. Not for the logic, more for the senses. - Cool Video! I really liked the style of review. Lovecars quality!

I agree I’ve got a 2017 model and it’s fantastic. Large powerful and gets lots of looks. If you want a practice fast suv that’s economical to run. There’s nothing that can touch it.
Did you look at getting it remapped? Just stage 1... 50bhp and 100nm gains?
x5 m50d or Sq7 in the handling context ??
Why isn’t the SQ7 offered with carbon ceramic brakes in the UK like it is in other markets, and why is it no longer offered with active roll stabilisation when it’s available on the SQ8?

I'm picking up a new one this week. I agree with your video - I looked around, but very hard to find a better all rounder for the price - and due to a surplus of new stock at the moment, mine's coming with £10k off the price - around £66,500. Makes the regular 3.0L Q7 look rather expensive!!

I find the most extraordinary feature about this car, which I am seeking to buy used , is that no one,just no one , has bought it with the dynamic driving package which gives the rear sport diff, rear wheel steer, and active anti roll. Of 78 used on the website not a single vehicle is equipped with the package.Conversely, all review cars have it. Has anyone driven and loved thesq7 without these seemingly very helpful driving aids ? Does it stay flat through the bends still or wobble about ?
I wish they would give you the option to lose the 3row seats and have a bigger boot
For their niche in the market I think they’re fantastic but they must have the black pack, all wheel steering, the performance diff and the active roll stabilization. I’d have mine in Navarra blue with heated/cooled/massage seats and soft close doors 😁

Good review, thanks. We all decide to spend our money differently, so to me £96k on a car sounds a lot. I compromised, my Q7 has 406hp, 990Nm of torque, does between 25 and 35 mpg. At the moment it all works and is covered by a Gold standard warranty. And the price? £11k. Happy days, l get 95% of the SQ7 for a little over 10% of the price. l don’t have massage seats, but l do have an aeroplane in the hangar.
I own a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid Coupe (yep, ridiculously long name!), and whilst I do love it.. I can’t deny this SQ7 seems a relative bargain in comparison!

Uh, no the 1st gen car was a V12. But that wasn't an SQ7, it was just called the Q7 V12 TDI. But that was as thirsty as a similarly powered petrol SUV, so didn't really make much sense.
This car doesn’t have active suspension - Audi UK have decided not to offer this option in the UK
You’ll need to get an RSQ8 to be able to spec this.
Now about the X5 M50d? Diesel, similar performance, 7 seats, same price

Yeah looks nice but x5 very compact for luxury suv , less space for passengers , on driver can have fun
Lovely Jubbly, but you might spend some time cleaning those screens, as most people complain how filthy the get.
The irony of watching videos of a car you just bought and have parked outside, but cant use for the timebeing due to social isolation
I know two people who had the previous generation SQ7s and neither of them got over 30mpg without being on a motorway cruising
On a motorway cruising you can get 40mpg easily. Took the blue one in the video to Germany in October... lots of motorway (up to 140mph) and city driving and averaged 33mpg.
Lovecars let’s just say they aren’t exactly the most careful with how much fuel they use, pretty much had it in dynamic 24/7
has there been an increase in accidents from ultra bright led and laser lights? new mercedes seem way to bright to be legal.
The matrix style lights dip so quickly now and just surround cars you’re following or oncoming with light

Yeah true but I’ve noticed in our market at least the SQ7 is generally holding its money better than the Touareg R Line, both are nice vehicles but the Audi is demonstrably nicer quality inside but it should be too naturally.
NZsarge1 the Touareg isn’t on the same league in terms of quality or performance (fastest in the range is a 3.0 V6, and does 0-62 in 5.9 seconds)

New front... ok not better, not worst, new back ? Well they wanted to say it's new. New Tech awesome I guess. New Dash? Awful why all this back panel and touch screens? I'm sad the Q7 went that way like Q8, A6-7-8 and so on. At lest the new A3 keeps dials and buttons.

EVs pollute even more than diesel engines. The truth is coming out, slowly, but what is acceptable opinion in the UK today vs what is truth is sadly getting ever further apart... Big interests and big money rule.
