Your car in this video did not have the performance package, did you drive one with the performance package separately to arrive at that assessment? Appreciate the input and great video! Thanks!
Just wanted to update this based on a test drive. Driving the SQ7 with the performance package is night and day different than driving without it. If you like the more sporty feel and being able to take full speed turns I'd get it. Still likely not as stiff as the X5 Competition, but very close.

Getting tougher and tougher to test using a reference these days. Why? Many cars no longer have CD players. That used to be my goto option. Then Satellite became a thing - which is BY FAR the worst sound quality, mainly due to SiriusXM provisioning so many channels thus splitting the signal and degrading the sound quality. Today, all the music that is on my iPhone that came from CDs, I have encoded at the highest quality level. Yes, it takes up more space but you can tell the difference in systems like this B&O in the Audi.
The SQ7 seems to be the most value, given its 3rd row (albeit tiny). BMW and Porsche doesn't even offer that as an option. And yes, that $30k difference comes into play as well.
It’s a strong value proposition but being a Porsche guys as I am, I’d probably look all the time to the Cayenne and regret not having bought that perhaps....

Black opti pack is always on my list or I would not order that car. I would go for a cayenne S with less power as all these suvs are not for racing anyways .
Those touchscreens are awfully distracting. Wish they had some redundant, hard controls. Also, I have a small amount of piano black in my X5 that, within a year, has some scratches. Can't imagine a cabin with an acre of piano black filled with scratches and smudges. And, to answer the question, I don't think the SQ7 competes with the X5M or the GLE 63S. That would be an RSQ7. This competes with the X5M50i and GLE53 AMG. I'd take either of those as they're both faster without the weird 2 touchscreen layout.
But there isn't an RSQ7 is there? And I feel you with paino black - I don't understand using a material that looks great right up until you look at it too quickly
@@Just_Chilliing Correct no RSQ7 (yet) so no direct competitor to the X5M and GLE63. RSQ8 is the only direct price competitor, but that's anyway more of an X6M and GLE Coupe rival. I sat in a new S7 at the Audi dealer, with 53 miles on it. It already had micro-scratches all around the touchscreen area, especially in direct sunlight.
Surprisingly, the piano black trim along the center council and dash in my 2017 Q7 3.0T has held up surprisingly well to my wife, two kids, and 40lb puppy. We are approaching 70k miles and it cleans up great.
Those cars do not have a third row seating option. Many people, myself included, are picking this vehicle because of that. I just drove all three of these and the Audi was as good, if not better. Definitely drive better than the Mercedes. BMW was just ever so slightly better in handling and braking. A real comparison would be an RSQ7 if they made one. Also, we're talking 4.0 second 0 to 60 compared to 3.7. That's almost unnoticeable.

Replace suspension parts, replace batteries for active rear steering, replace 5 chains while get out all engine... list never ends. Buy a Lexus - just change oil... booooring.
Drive a Lexus - boooooring. Other than the LC, Lexus doesn't make a single interesting car. The GS was never that great, and now it's dead. The IS is older than dirt, and they just made the exact same thing and called it "new." Also, try to turn on the heated seats in an LC while driving without crashing lol. THE WORST electronics of ANY BRAND.
The “hammer/ vibration” feed back in this cars MMI is like my old 2005 range rovers mmi where I have to force my finger so hard on the screen to get it to recognize I honestly do not like this cars MMI & ive had it for 2 months now. Aesthetically nice screens but even the apple carplay drops the ball Its so hard to use and annoying. Get a new Range Rover. Love the exterior styling of this car though. Especially in Black Optic Package. Furthermore and MOST IMPORTANTLY the driving dynamics have become even more disconnected than previous Audi’s and is heading dangerously close into Tesla steering feel (dead/ bland / nothingness) and it has been VERY nice but BORING to drive. No sumptuousness or creamy- ness feeling in the steering or suspension (Like Range Rovers have). Id get the car ONLY for the looks the rest just sucks. The normal Q7 Literally drives like an oversized A4 no premium feel in the upper SUV trim of Audi’s. And its so sadthey are Gorgeous cars especially in the Vircuna Beige Black Optic Package.
I think you've become disconnected from the common folks (who are the bulk of your viewers), who the hell can afford a vehicle at that price anyway, so what difference does it really make for someone who can afford a 100 grand SUV to pay an extra 30, c'mon !!!
I can afford it but it’s the lavish service charges that is why I will never own an Audi, BMW, Porsche, Mercedes or even Land Rover. Many of my co-workers own these brands as well and they spend abundant time in the shop racking up tech time as they replace sensor after sensor trying to locate/diagnose the problems. I’m talking weeks to months of down-time every year and thousands upon thousands of dollars paid after warranty. These are beautiful cars inside and out but they are unreliable moneypits to say the least.

I have bad news for you though bud... news that I myself just found out last week. The Genesis GV80 is having a few problems right now in Korea. They actually stopped production entirely to fix issues with their diesel engines. There were also problems with the fuel gauges malfunctioning when the vehicle was stopped/parked on a hill. I was told there were also issues with their new 3.5 Twin Turbo engine as well but I was unable to find any literature to back that up. I for one will be waiting till I see a few Canadian/American driving or ownership reviews before handing over my $$$. If you were considering the GV80 as I was... you should also consider the newly designed 2021 Acura MDX. It’s slated to release late this fall and if it follows the RDX’s interior/exterior....
In europe we get a tt v8 tdi
Not anymore, its beinh replaced by this!
Black trim
Greit car☺
The Audi SQ7 is a X5M50i and Mercedes GLE53 AMG competitor. Same price same performance figures. And would take a BMW or Mercedes to the Audi.
@@thomasferrarojr.9772 If third row seating is a point the X7M50i and GLS580 are the better offering 😅
@@Sulaiman_AlKadi Umm not sure it's really a 😂 worthy comment. And no they're not better options. They drive like boats. Yeah, thanks.
Worth $90k good Doctor?
Audi any day, Porsche is the little better, but not worth 30k more. BMW overpriced.
Oh you americans dont get the SQ7 TDI? Iiiiinteresting
Sadly, no . . .
My pick: GLE53
3rd Row
Massage seats
Adaptive cruise
Green
21 inch wheels
diamond stitched leather and open pore wood
No night Package
No Dynamic Package
HUD/Gesture?Augmented reality
$93K Sticker
Only highlights are the real exhaust.
Lexus doesn't compete in this segment.
The black optic trim that I normally like on vehicles is actually awful looking on the SQ7-8, it reminds me of that awful Camaro front end.
My grand marqius gets better gas than this what in the world
Easy. Kia Telluride.
Barely half the torque...
Norm T During the course of your commute today, how much did you wish you had more torque? In what specific circumstance?
I think you've become disconnected from the common folks (who are the bulk of your viewers), who the hell can afford a vehicle at that price anyway, so what difference does it really make for someone who can afford a 100 grand SUV to pay an extra 30, c'mon !!!
People that can afford $100k for a vehicle understand a value proposition just like anyone else.
@@beri232 that's why I am going to buy a genesis gv80 instead. All these cars are fast enough and genesis has all the tech anyone needs.
Francois, I hear ya, but anyone that knows me, knows that could not be further from the truth . . . have a look: ruclips.net/video/8hBy-PhvJSI/видео.html
john lee I pre-ordered a loaded GV80 here in Canada back in February. On September 8th we go in for our preview (reserved for those who pre-ordered). I think it’ll be a real head-turner. Plus Acura is making an MDX “Type S” slated for 2021 and that will be between 375-400 hp as well. Perfect hp to compete with zee Germans but with reliability thrown in!
I plan on picking up one used for a awesome discount and then tune it to be faster than the bmw and porsche
