The one with Cait, Vincent, and Cid is the equivalent of hanging out with your old friend group, and all of you have grown up, except for the one guy who hasn’t lost his spirit.
to me the sweetest thing about the tifa date isn't even the kiss, it's the way cloud kept stealing glances at her. they did good with the subtle body language in this game!

Aerith was like this in original. Aeris knows more about men and more open about her feelings, she is older then cloud and Tifa. She also the one who teaches Tifa about men in original. She lived in slums and has been living in the streets (selling flowers isn't safe job in midgar) so she knows how the world is, she's very forward while Tifa is just reserved. When your a woman dealing with Zack as a boyfriend,you really wise up quick.

However, in the dialogue he _does_ have, in the Japanese version, he speaks in a much younger and less "cool" register, which they didn't really translate well into English. The optional scene with Bugenhagen "going away" definitely shows you his childlike side though.
Yeah, that's what happens when you're 30+ (and Vincent is like 50+). You just don't have the energy for stuff, especially not for nights out with friends. Trust me, when you get to that age, you'll start feeling the mileage, lol.
The older I get the more I can relate to Barret. I still hoped to see them interacting in a friendlier way, because it had some "father trying to connect wih his son and failing" vibes to me, but at least Barret expressed his appreciation for the moment. And Cloud pretending to get hit by Yuffie caught me absolutely off guard. I don't think I've ever seen the character behaving in such a human way before, even in the OG. The game nailed it.
This fact made that one part in the game where Yuffie and Cait are spying on Cloud and Tifa and chanting "kiss kiss kiss" so much funnier as someone who played the og. I know Cait isn't an exact copy of Reeve an his own thing, but still funny.
Well, in Crisis Core as Zack, you would have learned that Cloud had been secretly loving Tifa for a long time, wanted to become a SOLDIER to prove himself first before confessing to her because he was like a wimpy loser kid, while she was bright, popular and can kick ass thanks to her martial arts training. Too bad he couldn't become a SOLDIER and was only some low level grunt security guard, so he was too ashamed and had no confidence to face Tifa back in Nibelheim and was hiding himself. And then similarly as Zack in Crisis Core, you will also learn that Tifa had been secretly liking and paying special and close attention to Cloud all the time. She was even actively searching for him and asked Zack if he knew any SOLDIER or anybody in SHINRA by the name of Cloud, and was disappointed when she couldn't find and see Cloud. It's a mutual love between childhood friends that should have blossomed into something more since the get-go long ago, if only Cloud had been less wishy washy and more confident about himself. Tifa obviously saw something in him that is more than strength and loved him for it. Not sure which characters he actually canonically went on the date with, but I'll always be rooting for Tifa, since Tifa love Cloud and see Cloud for who he is whereas Aerith merely saw Cloud as a shadow and replacement for Zack. Like a rebound that actually look and behave like the ex. Her feelings might have changed later down the story, but the initial motive was still there. You can even say she successfully rebounded because of it. That's why I don't really ship them. One is a girl who genuinely love you and see you for who you are since long ago with the feelings unchanged for years, while the other is a girl who couldn't get over another man and is chasing another man's shadow for years. As a man, if you have any self-worth and self-respect, the choice of who to pick as a love interest is obvious. Unless of course, you're into the NTR shtick, since technically you'll be going out with your friend's girlfriend after he died. Not exactly something a bro should be doing really.

Its really funny because before Remake came out, most people who had never played the original (but pretended they did) thought Aerith was the shy, innocent one, while Tifa was the more open and extroverted one. Goes to show that you can't judge based only appereances.

Somehow she doesn't know the Cloud that she is talking to, is not the real personality Cloud. It's of Zack. The date scene with Aerith is awkward, especially for those who played originals and knowing about Cloud's personality and who he actually liked and the reason he join the soldier. Moreover, when she said, I just want to be with you (Cloud) and what happen when she met and reunite with Zack later? This scene is so awkward.

Sure, he made a promise to her, but he was going to join up SOLDIER anyways. The date with Aerith isn't nearly as awkward as you're trying to make it be. It's only awkward in the sense that Cloud himself is awkward when it comes to love.
I found it very sweet that tifa was hesitant/insecure about where they stand so cloud immediately reassured her and pulled her in for a kiss without so much as a second thought. Even though these scenes are optional, how cloud behaves isn’t. These dates show the different dynamics he has with everyone in the party, and it’s clear he absolutely cherishes everyone

They still did a wonderful job of breaking down his wannabe tough SOLDIER routine and giving him a much softer side than in the original. Cause as much as I love the original, he's an absolute NIGHTMARE of a protagonist, even his positive optional dialogue is cold as ice! 😂
i have to admit they did justice with these and it is probably one of the best parts of the game. Tifa and Aerith dates are wholly improved and romantic, and Yuffie kept the kiss while showing she has feelings for him while showing goofy side of Cloud (at that moment it was his real self and how he acts later on in the original) Even Barret is wholly improved and shows bit of his backstory and character development. Too bad Jessie couldn't have hit the scene because she might really try something with cloud lol because she is even more pushy than aerith.
Jaw dropping that they gave Yuffie a callback to her interactions with Zack in CC, always thought those mission cutscenes between them were pretty cute! (and u get new summons from it too)
Dude, I’ve been waiting years for Cloud to have these moments with his party members. Square Enix made these interactions feel so real that I got goosebumps and warm & fuzzy from head to toe watching them for the first time. 💚

I think that the main difference of course it's simple: Aerith it's trying hard to make Cloud fall from her and she made it in the end. It's very pretty and cute that after all the hard way Cloud is the one that in the end hold her hand. Tifa it's different, she is the one that Cloud wanted since day 1, so it's him discovering that she has feeling and he is the one that decide to make the move. Cloud likes Tifa, discover she has feeling for him and he step in. Aerith likes Cloud and even it's hard she reach his heart. Both are cute but different
With Tifa, I love how Cloud says "not one bit" after Tifa telling him that maybe she's too overconfident with their relationship. Then, he takes the initiative to hug and kiss her. This is literally them confessing and confirming their feelings. Not to mention how Cloud secretly look at Tifa who is admiring the view. After the ride, both looks so shy and awkward lol With Aerith, I love how Cloud gives Aerith the comfort she needs. "just until the ride is over" Cloud let her feel being "loved" and not lonely. After the ride, when Aerith expresses her gratitude, Cloud says "I didn't do anything". Little did he knows, it means alot to her. With Yuffie, they really gives the sibling vibes. It's so cute to see big brother Cloud. I really love it.

@@PatManDX It is actually rather there in the original English as well. Nanaki acts more childish when they reach Cosmo Canyon, especially in conversations with his grandpa. But it might be that English players forgot or didn't notice it as much due to the rather awkward English and translation errors to begin with. I myself always noted this about Nanaki, though I first played it in 2014.

They're coping. They can’t stand the fact that if the intention from the start had been for Cloud to be with Aerith, then Cloud and Aerith would’ve gotten a kiss scene, but they didn’t. They can’t stand that they don’t get that affirmation back from Cloud no matter how hard Aerith tries, he only goes as far as being just considerate enough to comfort her when she’s throwing herself onto him begging to be comforted, and her apologizing for it since she knows she threw herself onto him like that. Just imagine how the Cleriths would've been had Cloud and Aerith kissed instead. Or if it had been Tifa trying to drag Cloud into trying to recreate good times with a previous lover, or throwing herself onto Cloud for hugs, or if Tifa said "I like you" only to get just a "you've been weird all day." That's how you know that they're just coping.
It makes me laugh how the comments have turned into a ship war 😂😂 the relationship between Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith has always been non conventional. Cloud loves Tifa, but he also loved Aerith. Tifa and Aerith also love each other. Cloud loved Aerith and doing so healed parts of him so he was able to love Tifa. They all mean the world to each other, and turning their relationships into a ship war diminishes that.
The way that yuffie and barret are both talking about tifa to cloud on their own dates :) i know barret doesn't mention names but he gets mad at cloud earlier in the game and tells him to be there for tifa so it's pretty obvious which of the girls he's referring to.
barret also says something similar to what andrea said in remake after they saved tifa. if you go back in to talk to him in chapter 13 andrea asks cloud “did you find what you were looking for” cloud says “thanks to you i did” he replies “good. now never let it go” pretty obvious they’re heavily favoring tifa
it looks more to me like he's talking about aerith, considering that in barret's date, aerith is the rosa and all that stuff about 'confessing before its too late' hits deeper considering aerith is on borrowed time.

Thanks for posting! I'm kind a amazed by the effort they put into the characters who aren't love interests (not Tifa, not Aerith). In original FF7 they were just kinda jokes. Here, Yuffie shares so much about Zack and gets a bit vulnerable. Barred opens up about Myrna, and again gets vulnerable. Red's adds just a bit to the mystery of the whispers, and adds to the suspense over whether Aerith can be saved. Cait/Vincent/Cid is jokey, but I still like how every date - even Cid - shows a bit of personality with how they react to the steering wheel. (Of course Tifas and Aeriths dates were basically perfection, just closer to what I expected. I liked being surprised by the others!)
Okay but Yuffie and Cloud is like the best one, now that's a great friendship. I mean sure it's a "date" but you can love your friends and that's the vibe I'm getting. These guys have traveled the world together after all.

@@renoir2616 In the Cloud & Tifa scene it is pretty clear how they feel about each other. However, just because there is no kiss in Aerith's scene does not make it any less if you paid attention to the scene. The scenes are extremely equal, overall. It is pretty obvious this was intentional by the developers to custom curate your preferred romance in your playthrough.
Just to add I think as all the scenes themselves are optional I consider them non canon however we should be asking the question what are the devs trying to tell us about how Cloud feels for each character? Now that’s the canon part in having insights into Clouds feelings.

If the developers want Aerith and Tifa to be extremely equal or even just equal in Cloud's heart, then they should've given Aerith an optional kiss too, but they didn't. KISS > HOLDING HANDS
Didn't watch all of it to not be spoiled gully. I really like the difference between Aerith and Tifa's scenes. He loves them both strongly, but it's a different kind of love. And they respected Aerith's love for Zack as well 👏🏽👏🏽
EXACTLY. I've been a clerith since I played for the first time around 2003 and wasn't a fan of Tifa back then. But now I see both of them have a connection with Cloud in their own way. For me, cloti feels like Eros whilst clerith leans more to Agape kind of love. Both of them valid and ultimately up to the player which path they want to put Cloud in.

I agree, dude. I get that it's part of the character, but the contrast is just TOO extreme. It doesn't sound like someone young trying to act more mature sometimes, it feels like someone with two different personalities in the same body. His more naive and young self should come through his dialogue and interpretation, not by making him have a 12-year old and a 40 year-old voice at the same time.

Tifa’s date is about two people falling in love Aerith’s date is about two people who deeply care for each other, but stops short of anything romantic. Yuffie’s date is like a big brother/little sister bonding moment.

However, in the dialogue he _does_ have, in the Japanese version, he speaks in a much younger and less "cool" register, which they didn't really translate well into English. The optional scene with Bugenhagen "going away" definitely shows you his childlike side though.

The older I get the more I can relate to Barret. I still hoped to see them interacting in a friendlier way, because it had some "father trying to connect wih his son and failing" vibes to me, but at least Barret expressed his appreciation for the moment.
And Cloud pretending to get hit by Yuffie caught me absolutely off guard. I don't think I've ever seen the character behaving in such a human way before, even in the OG. The game nailed it.
So they changed Yuffie's behavior in that dating scene. In the original, Yuffie would kiss Cloud but on the cheeks.

Well, in Crisis Core as Zack, you would have learned that Cloud had been secretly loving Tifa for a long time, wanted to become a SOLDIER to prove himself first before confessing to her because he was like a wimpy loser kid, while she was bright, popular and can kick ass thanks to her martial arts training. Too bad he couldn't become a SOLDIER and was only some low level grunt security guard, so he was too ashamed and had no confidence to face Tifa back in Nibelheim and was hiding himself. And then similarly as Zack in Crisis Core, you will also learn that Tifa had been secretly liking and paying special and close attention to Cloud all the time. She was even actively searching for him and asked Zack if he knew any SOLDIER or anybody in SHINRA by the name of Cloud, and was disappointed when she couldn't find and see Cloud.
It's a mutual love between childhood friends that should have blossomed into something more since the get-go long ago, if only Cloud had been less wishy washy and more confident about himself. Tifa obviously saw something in him that is more than strength and loved him for it. Not sure which characters he actually canonically went on the date with, but I'll always be rooting for Tifa, since Tifa love Cloud and see Cloud for who he is whereas Aerith merely saw Cloud as a shadow and replacement for Zack. Like a rebound that actually look and behave like the ex. Her feelings might have changed later down the story, but the initial motive was still there. You can even say she successfully rebounded because of it. That's why I don't really ship them. One is a girl who genuinely love you and see you for who you are since long ago with the feelings unchanged for years, while the other is a girl who couldn't get over another man and is chasing another man's shadow for years. As a man, if you have any self-worth and self-respect, the choice of who to pick as a love interest is obvious. Unless of course, you're into the NTR shtick, since technically you'll be going out with your friend's girlfriend after he died. Not exactly something a bro should be doing really.

The date with Aerith isn't nearly as awkward as you're trying to make it be. It's only awkward in the sense that Cloud himself is awkward when it comes to love.
I found it very sweet that tifa was hesitant/insecure about where they stand so cloud immediately reassured her and pulled her in for a kiss without so much as a second thought.
Even though these scenes are optional, how cloud behaves isn’t. These dates show the different dynamics he has with everyone in the party, and it’s clear he absolutely cherishes everyone

i have to admit they did justice with these and it is probably one of the best parts of the game.
Tifa and Aerith dates are wholly improved and romantic, and Yuffie kept the kiss while showing she has feelings for him while showing goofy side of Cloud (at that moment it was his real self and how he acts later on in the original)
Even Barret is wholly improved and shows bit of his backstory and character development.
Too bad Jessie couldn't have hit the scene because she might really try something with cloud lol because she is even more pushy than aerith.

Nanaki acts more childish when they reach Cosmo Canyon, especially in conversations with his grandpa.
But it might be that English players forgot or didn't notice it as much due to the rather awkward English and translation errors to begin with.
I myself always noted this about Nanaki, though I first played it in 2014.
Now if only persona could make all their max intimacies half this entertaining. Romance and friendships alike.

Zack and Aertith have a beautiful relationship and connection that was written very well by Nojima and Kitase. Why ignore all that?
They're coping. They can’t stand the fact that if the intention from the start had been for Cloud to be with Aerith, then Cloud and Aerith would’ve gotten a kiss scene, but they didn’t. They can’t stand that they don’t get that affirmation back from Cloud no matter how hard Aerith tries, he only goes as far as being just considerate enough to comfort her when she’s throwing herself onto him begging to be comforted, and her apologizing for it since she knows she threw herself onto him like that. Just imagine how the Cleriths would've been had Cloud and Aerith kissed instead. Or if it had been Tifa trying to drag Cloud into trying to recreate good times with a previous lover, or throwing herself onto Cloud for hugs, or if Tifa said "I like you" only to get just a "you've been weird all day." That's how you know that they're just coping.

It makes me laugh how the comments have turned into a ship war 😂😂 the relationship between Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith has always been non conventional. Cloud loves Tifa, but he also loved Aerith. Tifa and Aerith also love each other. Cloud loved Aerith and doing so healed parts of him so he was able to love Tifa. They all mean the world to each other, and turning their relationships into a ship war diminishes that.
Bad writing is the cause of it. Love triangle is stupid. FF7 imo the worst way to do a harem. It's just going to cause people to fight.

The way that yuffie and barret are both talking about tifa to cloud on their own dates :) i know barret doesn't mention names but he gets mad at cloud earlier in the game and tells him to be there for tifa so it's pretty obvious which of the girls he's referring to.
barret also says something similar to what andrea said in remake after they saved tifa. if you go back in to talk to him in chapter 13 andrea asks cloud “did you find what you were looking for” cloud says “thanks to you i did” he replies “good. now never let it go” pretty obvious they’re heavily favoring tifa
it looks more to me like he's talking about aerith, considering that in barret's date, aerith is the rosa and all that stuff about 'confessing before its too late' hits deeper considering aerith is on borrowed time.

Thanks for posting! I'm kind a amazed by the effort they put into the characters who aren't love interests (not Tifa, not Aerith). In original FF7 they were just kinda jokes. Here, Yuffie shares so much about Zack and gets a bit vulnerable. Barred opens up about Myrna, and again gets vulnerable. Red's adds just a bit to the mystery of the whispers, and adds to the suspense over whether Aerith can be saved. Cait/Vincent/Cid is jokey, but I still like how every date - even Cid - shows a bit of personality with how they react to the steering wheel. (Of course Tifas and Aeriths dates were basically perfection, just closer to what I expected. I liked being surprised by the others!)
Finally Cloud and Tifa, i've been waiting this for long time
Okay but Yuffie and Cloud is like the best one, now that's a great friendship. I mean sure it's a "date" but you can love your friends and that's the vibe I'm getting. These guys have traveled the world together after all.

@@renoir2616 In the Cloud & Tifa scene it is pretty clear how they feel about each other. However, just because there is no kiss in Aerith's scene does not make it any less if you paid attention to the scene. The scenes are extremely equal, overall. It is pretty obvious this was intentional by the developers to custom curate your preferred romance in your playthrough.
A don’t care what people say, a kiss between two characters is massive thing in Final Fantasy. All I can say is they are preparing you for part 3.
Just to add I think as all the scenes themselves are optional I consider them non canon however we should be asking the question what are the devs trying to tell us about how Cloud feels for each character? Now that’s the canon part in having insights into Clouds feelings.
@@Zerod-rn3ye Both dates are romantic (at least to me), but they are NOT extremely equal in terms of romantic level. If the developers want Aerith and Tifa to be extremely equal or even just equal in Cloud's heart, then they should've given Aerith an optional kiss too, but they didn't.

EXACTLY. I've been a clerith since I played for the first time around 2003 and wasn't a fan of Tifa back then. But now I see both of them have a connection with Cloud in their own way. For me, cloti feels like Eros whilst clerith leans more to Agape kind of love. Both of them valid and ultimately up to the player which path they want to put Cloud in.
Not maining the buster sword the entire playthrough is a unforgivable sin.

I agree, dude. I get that it's part of the character, but the contrast is just TOO extreme. It doesn't sound like someone young trying to act more mature sometimes, it feels like someone with two different personalities in the same body. His more naive and young self should come through his dialogue and interpretation, not by making him have a 12-year old and a 40 year-old voice at the same time.
