At 68, I keep my life simple. Lift weights 15 hours a week and only consume Fatty Lamb, Fatty Beef, Salt and water. I haven't been to a doctor in 18 years and really don't care what my LDL is. Overthinking everything and having the idea of not being able to change your eating habits are more detrimental to people's health than just about anything else.

I'm 62 and at 59 was on 7 daily medications, had fatty liver disease, high blood pressure, triglycerides over 400 and pre-diabetic. AT 59 I dropped sugar and went to a ketogenic diet with intermittent fasting and a prolonged 5 day fast once every 2 months. I now lift weights 6 days per week rotating upper then lower body. I now eat butter, milk, bacon, eggs, red meat and everything government tells me not to eat. The result is 52 pounds lost. off all medications with an HDL/Triglyceride ratio of 0.38 and all blood work perfect. The pandemic did this to me. After 35 years of outstanding service I was being fired for refusing a flu shot and that motivated the hell out of me to get in shape and show those people just how unhealthy I was being unvaccinated.

Lowering LDL with statins to reduce cardiovascular deaths is analogous to washing yellow cigarette stains off of fingers to prevent lung cancer. Eliminating omega-6 vegetable oils and reducing carbohydrate consumption will reduce both LDL and cardiovascular disease, just as eliminating cigarettes will reduce both lung cancer and yellow fingers. There’s not as much money in reducing vegetable oils and carbohydrates as there is in manufacturing and prescribing statins.

I am 62 y.old now. Doctor put me on Atorvastatin about 6 years ago. Before that I had checked for atherosclerosis and it was normal. After being on Atorvastatin for about four years. Then I dropped the drug. I was checked for plaque and it was mild to moderate atherosclerosis. Beside that my muscles were painful and weak. I had higher appetite during taking statin, gained more weight and couldn't loose any. My blood sugar was rising and had some memory problems. Mind you, I didn't have excess cholesterol before doctor put me on statin but had some cholesterol showing in brain capillaries. So. Stating was a disaster for me.

Finally a semi answer to the ldl/statin question I've been posting for years. simply put , Inflammation causes microtears within blood vessels and the body uses cholesterol to patch them up. Whether my LDL is 70 or 270 this process takes place. I've asked if having higher LDL levels means "more" cholesterol is sent to repair the tears, for this would explain the drive to "lower" levels. seems the body sends what is needed regardless of LDL level. So it seems that lowering the inflammation is the key and statin would not be first up. (how much does a statin lower inflammation?) As covered in the video there are many contributors' to inflammtion.
As pointed out, the absolute risk in the statin studies shows statins only decrease cardiac events is less then 2%, yet they sell relative risk % to push the sale$.
Lastly, once calcified why the use for statins? CAC score goes up ( more calcification occurs) using statins. The argument is "better" more secured plaques, is there a study proving people with calcification with no statin has an absolute higher risk of a cardiac event then people with calcification treated with a statin? if so what is the mechanism?

As I've heard people on the carnivore diet say, Dr Anthony Chaffee I think it was... there's no such thing as an essential carbohydrate. If we need sugar, we make it ourselves, the process is called gluconeogenesis.
He also says that the nature of our digestive system suggests that while we *can* cope with dietary fibre, it's not optimal for us. We don't have the long large intestine like plant eating apes, like gorillas and orangutans have. Ours is shorter. The large intestine (and the bacterial populations in it) are the ones that deal with cellulose). Too much fibre just creates slight damage to the large intestine I think he said. We can deal with it, but it's not ideal for us. Our longer small intestine and shorter large intestine is better suited to a meat based diet rather than a plant based diet.

We have a photograph of him being put back on a train home, on a stretcher surrounded by his nurses, home to die. One doctor at Mayo suggested he give up red meat altogether. At one point I felt like a multiple food addict just trading one addiction for another. I was miserable but I felt better in my clothes and could breath better with pounds of. I'm a naturopathic person and took a few supplements to keep my energy up as I felt electrolyte deficient. The lower weight was also to improve my Blood pressure naturally. A side benefit if keto was it put my HSV in remission which had been struggle. I took week off keto for sanity and now back on. Getting a handle on these nutritional addictions is paramount for health improvement for many conditions. Thank you for your studies and this video

I'm 64 and was invited to have a health check up. My cholesterol was very high and with a smile on her face the nurse said "we can put you on a statin"🤦‍♂️, to which I answered "well that's not going to happen"!
I'm a truck driver and mostly eaten rubbish the whole my working life. I had recently gone onto a carnivore lifestyle and personally I think my body is doing exactly what it's supposed to do, that being the cholesterol is repairing the very long term damage caused by lack of the propper vitamins and minerals proved by meat.🤷‍♂️

The problem with the consumption of carbohydrates is that most people will get addicted to them. And then it is quite hard to limit the intake of carbs.
Also, if you eat carbs, i.e. if your metabolism runs on glucose, most people struggle to do fasting..Fasting triggers autophagy, and that is something you should be doing regularly. From 14 hours to even 72 or more hours of fasting is ideal for your metabolic health.
Eating less often and eating no carbs also improves the health of your teeth and gums.
To cut things short, here are some tips:
    My “2 rules advice” is:
    1st: no carbs
    2nd: no plants
    My “5 rules advice” is:
    1st: Avoid carbs
    2nd: Increase fat
    3rd: Moderate proteins
    4th: Increase animal based foods
    5th: Reduce plant based foods
    Explanation regarding:
1st: You can eat carbs , if you burn them before they are being transformed into body fat OR if you are sure that you will regularly fast for enough time to burn your excess body fat, i.e. all over 10% (men) and 15% (women)
2nd: Fats, especially animal based fats, are soft, non aggressive and necessary for all parts of your body.
3rd: All proteins that are not immediately needed, are being processed into glucose. Glucose that is not needed, will be transformed into body fat. Therefore, for all excess proteins can be regarded as being carbs.
4th: Animal based foods contain: a) almost no carbs (dairy products will contain some carbs) b) no toxins like all plants, except fruits c) the ideal combination of nutrients for our own animalistic body.
5th: Plants defend themselves against predators, i.e. animals that eat them. During the existence of plants and animals the plants developed a defense strategy to prevent animals from eating them. The plants developed a cocktail of chemical, biological and hormonal substances that harms the metabolism of the animal eating the plant. Humans are usually able to expel those toxins, BUT only if eating the plant seasonally, as each plant has its own cocktail of toxins. Note: Fruits, with the exception of the seed, contain no toxins, but they usually contain carbs (sugar). Olives, avocado and coconut contain fat rather than carbs, and are therefore ok.
It is obviously possible to go into much more detail, but that’s to much for a simple comment on a RUclips video…

I'm trying to remember where I saw in the last week - I seem to recall it was in a RUclips video, not in a book/article - that said the main problem with statins is that the part of LDL they reduce, is the largest, fluffy LDL, which makes up about 80% or LDL cholesterol, but is the least dangerous. I'm trying to figure out why my doc insists on 10mg of Rosuvastatin with HDL 40, Ldl -50, Trig 76 Tot Cool 106? I don't know what the goal is, but when I ask for a fractionation analysis of my cholesterol, he says "we don't do that". Frustrating.
