Hi I am a dairy farmer with a license to sell unpasteurised milk to the public we have costumers who will do a30 mile round trip to collect it not every one believes the vegan propaganda, this video is like a breath of fresh air thank you
@wasmochtensietrinken that's why I eat ice cream. Where I live in the desert it was 107° today. I played 2 1/2" hours of tennis in it. So don't tell me not to have a little ice cream when I get home ☺️
I still get cravings for snacks now and then.... I usually have one or 2 almonds, or walnuts, or hazelnuts of brazil nuts... with a glass of water or tea.... seems to work
67 years old - - Diagnosed with Crohn's disease 4 years ago. Stoped eating gluten (wheat, rye, barely) - - dramatic improvement in symptoms. Currently, dairy is my primary source of calories... Lactaid whole milk, aged cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese. Rice and potatoes for carbs.... Have a problem with fiber... Dairy products work well for me... vegetables, apparently do not..... And so it goes, find out what works for you.... and don't be fooled by eating foods that you enjoy. Eat foods that your body tolerates... Cywes provides good information, Find what works for you, and be aware, your dietary needs may change over time.
I have found the total elimination of processed foods, seed oils, and all grains has turned my health around, it took about 18months to really feel the difference however. What do I eat? Meat, eggs, hard cheeses, cream, raw nuts and lots of vegetables. Hard cheeses are an excellent source of vitamin K2 which is an important micronutrient in the human diet. I skip breakfast, carnivore lunch then load up on the veggies with dinner with a big salad. At 63 I truly feel better than I did when I was in my 40's. Listen to the good doctor, he knows what he is talking about.
Giving up grains and seed oils is more than enough. I recommend a grain free seed oil free diet for starters (I allow myself to treat with ice cream, spoonful of nutella, chocolate bar that has no seed oil, soft drinks, fruit juices, flavored yogurt, nevertheless, is hard to choose a process food that has no seed oil and grains, so I'm pretty much left with a limited amount of processed food, aiming the carbs via fruits and tubers (aka starchy vegetables, except corn). I may not not loss too many weigh, but the inflammation is gone. Hamburger with fries? I eat the hamburger bunless, and fries fried in tallow, ghee, avocado oil (etc mainly SFA and MUFA's oils). At least in the beginning, cause the treats will be eliminated soon, leaving fruits and tubers last.
@@cesarjavierbarbosa2acidgre276 you're comments are so good too. Are you starting off slow and steady? Your ideas seem so manageable for me. Baby steps in a way. You cut out the most inflammatory items and then down the road you will decide on more. I really like what you said so much. Thank you for sharing.
@@peacelovejoyandhappiness Yep. And going keto (or carnivore) may cause you to burnout and is a big change. I only cut the inflammatory food. The transition isn't difficult (in my diet, is simple, just seeking out carbs that isn't grain based) Someone may ask me if sodas are inflammatory. The answer is complicated (contains HFCS), but for me, it doesn't seem to trigger such things. Shoot for homemade orange juice as a best alternative to soda, I feel satisfied despite being a carb. I think if one is gonna eat carb for a while, shoot for the most nutrient dense.
So if you're gonna start somewhere, follow my diet, is quite easy. Is not about lowering carbs (yet). Is about just cutting the **seed oil + grains. **Some may say that palm oil is part of it, but in reality, is related to coconut oil (solid at room temp), thus, allowing it. But it is true that is used in most food manufacturers as a alternative to seed oil (liquid at room temp). But what may matter if palm oil is eco friendly or not (disforistation issues).
I lost so much hair after committing to the carnivore way of eating because keto took me to a plateau! Shock to the system, but I healed numerous medical issues and totally worth it, so grateful. I feel like I’m 25 years old again! 🥰 I believe I am now at my resting metabolic rate. 50 years old, 135 lbs (127 in high school) and since I reintroduced a quart of goat milk into occasional meal a couple times a week my hair is growing back fast and thicker! My starting weight was 240 lbs. exercise played no role in the process. Thank you for your honesty and amazing service. I recommend you to everyone.
I grew up on a dairy goat farm. My mother was adamant goat milk could address all sorts of things. 90% of our customers were people with health issues.
My hair grew back good after carnivore (it's still grey though lol). I have been watching Dr. Mindy a bit and she answered some of those why did that happen to the women.
So impressed with your discussions. At 84yrs after severe rectal cancer plus chemo and radiation 12 yrs ago, I am feeling healthy and on no medication. Trying a bit of keto, plus carnivore, flinging your advice so sensible. Thank you.
Been strict carnivore for 9 months, lost 80 lbs (which was the LEAST of the positive results, btw!) and just now started craving more dairy. Weight has been plateauing (I suspect I still have 30-40 lbs to go - but just letting my body do what it needs and it will tell me.) I had inadvertently gone down to zero dairy when I switched from butter to tallow. I also knew my calorie count was dipping a bit low for my optimal feeling, but appetite was suppressed. My favorite dairy is organic heavy whipping cream so I have added it back in. Pretty much as much as I want and I added coffee back in as well. Well...2 weeks of this and my weight is melting off again! Watch this video and now I understand why --- this is the first I had heard about making sure you at least cycle with dairy. Won't be a problem now, as I actually can tell a difference being on it - with the other non-weight related benefits of carnivore - and I do enjoy my cream, so I plan to just make sure I keep dairy in my repertoire! Thanks for explaining WHY this works - makes perfect sense. It also explains why a strip of bacon with good sour cream spread on top tastes every bit as good as the proverbial chocolate cake to me!! Thank you for doing what you do and the posts that you post!
It's funny that some people say I don't eat dairy, so I don't drink cream, yet they willingly eat butter. The recipe for making butter is literally shaking cream until it becomes butter.
Perfect time fir me to see this video. I believe I am one of the insulin suppressed people. 11 years ketogenic and my hb-a1c is high. Tgqnk you for this video. I niw have a plan to make a broth that I love that will increase my dairy and avoid the sugar in it at the same time. I'll share tge recipe here fir anyone else here looking for help with increasing their dairy/fat 1 stick of butter 1 qt. Whipping cream 1 box of chicken broth or homemade broth 1 onion chopped (strictly for flavor) 1 can mushrooms (strictly fir flavor) Saute onions in butter until soft and translucent. Add mushrooms and saute for about 10 minutes. Pour in broth and cream. Stir well and simmer to boiling. At this point I carefully strain out the onions and mushrions and throw them away. Keep refrigerated. Pour 1/2-1 cup into a coffee mug and reheat in microwave. Drink with your protein meal.
You made me laugh out loud when you said that, "Cheese is not the problem, cheese did not fall into your mouth in the middle of the night while you were sleeping!!" You're humor is priceless!
For me, what really pushed that joke over the edge and made it awesome was the second line that if you are obese your mouth is probably blocked by your CPAP. So the cheese shouldn't be able to get in you are sleeping. Hah!
I choked on my coffee when you said "if you need a crowbar to go to the bathroom" Absolutely love your sense of humour and honesty....thank you so much for sharing your knowledge
For those of us who are Scandinavian, dairy was essential. Lots of rocky ground meant growing grains & veg could be impossible. Eating animals was expensive. Dairy was a life saver.
Yep, I love this! I was totally dairy free for 12 years. What a waste of my life! I reintroduced dairy slowly once I had been on a keto diet for about a year and every year I do better with it, after being very sensitive to it. Now I do great on dairy and it doesn’t cause me weight gain or any reactions at all. I make my own homemade yogurt with half and half and it’s awesome. 👌
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s 2005. Pharmaceuticals did nothing. Medical marijuana kept me from committing suicide. 2020 website about Crohn’s said Crohn’s patients had imbalance in gut biome. And probiotics may help I started making homemade wine and having a small glass of wine with dinner then I started making Matsoni yogurt an heirloom yoghurt from the country of Georgia. It’s a mesophilic yoghurt where the milk ferments on the counter no yoghurt maker is required. Those two probiotic rich food and drink I am in remission fron Crohn’s disease. Not needed any medicine not even medical marijuana for 28 months
I hv been misguided by many RUclips channels and quack doctors not to consume dairy products. But I never heeded to those advices. I resorted to my habit of consuming dairy products. No adverse effects.
Thank you for your videos. Very helpful. I started with Dr. Berry who is awesome but he absolutely says as adults we do not need to drink milk. I love what you said about butter/cheese/milk. They go together. Use in moderation and what works for our bodies. I am 8 months carnivore. Off all my Statin drugs, stopped snoring, no more sleep apnea, lost 44 pounds, I'm 61 and back to my college weight, feel like I'm 21. Do HITT workouts/planking/etc.. have gone to chiropractor my entire life....haven't been in 8 months now. Praise the Lord!!! Carnivore baby!!
Fully agree on whole fat milk at night. I've been sleeping like a bear in hibernation since having a glass in the evenings. Light or early heavy carnivore meal, then tall glass about an hour before bed. Great advice!
Cream in my coffee, Greek yogurt at breakfast, strong cheese for dessert every day. Thanks for a sensible talk on dairy products. Cheers from Toronto 🇨🇦
Dr. Cywes, I love it that you acknowledge the existence of (and significance of) Carb Addiction. I myself am a Carb Addiction Coach. However, I think you're missing the piece that for SOME people, casein has an addictive effect. The protein in dairy (called casein) gets broken down into opioid-like peptides which bind to opioid receptors in the brain. Basically, dairy protein has opiate molecules built into it. Casomorphins typically have far milder opioid effects than those of strong narcotics like heroin and morphine. But they do have an opioid effect. Some of us with the brain disease of addiction are more sensitive to the opioid effect of casomorphines. And the later our stage of addiction, the more problematic "rewarding substances" become. Thus, for some, dairy is too triggering (too activating of our brain reward pathways) to allow our addiction to reach remission and remain there. That’s why it’s advisable for some people to abstain from dairy products. There are two common exceptions: Butter has the second-lowest level of casein of any dairy product, containing mostly fat and very little protein (casein). The only dairy product with a lower level of casein (essentially none) is ghee, also known as clarified butter. This is a list of common dairy products based on their typical ESTIMATED casein content, from highest to lowest. (Please note that these are general estimates. Variations can occur between different brands and specific product formulations.) 1. Parmesan and Romano cheese: Approximately 30-40% casein. 2. Cheeses such as Cheddar, Gruyere, Swiss , Colby and Provolone: Around 25-30% casein. 3. Feta and Goat cheese: Approximately 14-18% 4. Greek yogurt: Higher casein levels due to straining. 6. Regular yogurt: Moderate amount of casein. 7. Cottage cheese: Contains a moderate amount of casein ( about 11-13%) 8. Cow’s milk (skim, 2% or whole): Approximately 2.6% to 2.8% casein by weight. 9. Ice cream: Casein content varies but is typically moderate (approx. 2-4%). Ice cream’s addictive properties are usually boosted substantially by its sugar/sweetener content and other addictive ingredients such as chocolate (which contains caffeine) and flour from mix-ins like “cookie dough”. 10. Ricotta cheese: Fairly low in casein content. 11. Butter: Contains very little casein, primarily composed of fat. 12. Ghee: Virtually free of casein, as the protein is removed during clarification.
I grew up on a dairy farm and drank milk freely and continued to drink it by the gallon even after I moved to the city. Until I was about 30 and then I no longer wanted it except for milk in my tea. And I never stopped eating cheese. Still, this the first time I have ever heard an explanation of the importance of milk in any detail. Really excellent. Further to your crowbar remarks my dad did say of eating bread and cheese, “Bread makes the cheese more binding!”
I need to understand better this notion of becoming insulin suppressed while on a ketogenic diet. If you haven't done so already might this be a topic that deserves a full episode?
Thank you Dr Cywes for a sane way to look at dairy. Also thank you for your carb addiction model wisdom. You are really helping me in my lifelong health journey by being realistic. I find myself having to steer clear of carnivore/keto “influencers” who advocate for some pretty extreme eating measures. For me, they are just talking about another “All-or-nothing” way of life that every obese person has dealt with their entire life. I am a 65 year old,now normal weight, woman who wants to be totally alive until I die, if you know what I mean.
Dairy is my favorite food! I eat hard cheese and plain Greek yogurt on a daily basis and never want to give it up. Thanks for this, Dr. Cywes, because I was wondering if I should give up my favorite thing.
I love dairy, milk heavy cream cheese but sheep or Swiss cheese, all my life 70 now. Yes I am overweight, and for the first time have high blood pressure, so I am hanging on every word you are saying in your videos to better understand my body. I did carnivore for 8 months and everything vastly improved, then dropped by to old comfort and what I call society food as everyone thought it would kill me. Now with high blood pressure and doctor giving me their pills my hair started to fall out, and my ankles swell to painful at night, also a lot of fatigue. Stopped them and back to carnivore with little veg. So thank you for your videos and explanations and making it all sound like common sense.
I'm happy to hear your take on dairy, Dr. Cywes! I was long time vegan (over 20+ years), and 3 years ago due to health problems I began introducing animal products back into my diet. When I started eating dairy again, I feared I was in for terrible digestive issues, but to my surprise and delight, I had no adverse effects whatsoever! 😁My first dairy food was goat yogurt, but now I also eat cow and sheep yogurt, cottage cheese, goat cheese, hard cheeses, kefir, cream, and 1/2 and 1/2. I'm so happy dairy doesn't bother me, because I love it! I'm sad I deprived myself for so many years, thinking I was doing the right thing for my health. 😢 I am slowly transitioning myself over to keto/low-carb. I have a question about dairy, though: I've noticed that some dairy foods have a good amount of carbs (like yogurt, cottage cheese, kefir, and milk). Following a keto diet, is it then important to limit dairy intake of higher-carb dairy foods? It seem like eating too much of it could increase carbs in the diet too much, making it not really a keto/low carb diet. Any thoughts on this?
This video cleared up so much of the misinformation around dairy, and constipation problems. Yesterday was a an emotional day in which I got to see the eating for emotion trap. Fortunately I converted the trap into a meal and am now extending my fasting period to compensate. Thank you Dr Cywers and to people who add useful information in the comments.
Interesting. I am casin intolerant or allergic. Found out over the course of 4 years when I tried reintroducing small amounts into my diet. fyi, I was raised in a dairy farm and drank copious amounts of raw milk as a child. But I always had a hard distended stomach and skin issues. Until I stopped drinking milk.😢
I will be adding the yogurt I make from whole heavy cream back into our diet. We are trying to build more muscle mass, we are older! My husband loves it! Thank you for sharing information that is interesting and understandable.
Hello Dr Cywes. I'm still in ketosis and haven't had any addictive food. But I'm feeling addicted to cream with stevia or erythritol. It's absolutely comforting.
Try to get happy in life. Find the passion in family, or better yet sexual spouse / relationship. During those times of passion, most people not thinking of food. Plus getting excited about something extreme in life as a distraction is very helpful. Skydiving for example. Volunteer work at a hospital or low income area... Just options to stay happy and stay busy.
Here I’ve lately been ‘cheating’ with whole grass fed milk or buttermilk…. Somewhere along the keto trek I thought liquid dairy was a no no - “we aren’t baby cows… too much growth hormones for human bodies….. “ Great talk!!! Learned lots!!!! 💋💋💋
I am leaving a comment: was born and raised in very cold place without cows around and real dairy. My mom did not have enough to nurse me. Did not like dairy almost 'till moved to the USA. Like cheese now,, sour cream, cream cheese and so, make my own yogurt. In reality: shouldn't have a lactose enzymes, but don't have any problem with digesting or any other issue after eating dairy. Listening all these "scares" about fat before and dairy now, I am pretty sure that issue for most not a lack of enzymes, but phycological.
We love our A2 RAW dairy and RAW kefir. So wonderful for all in our family; full fat, rich cream for coffee, a great base in soup/gravy, to make scrambled eggs, etc. Sure wish more in our community would distinguish between harmful pasteurized and homogenized store bought dairy, and local pasture raw dairy.
I agree. I have 3 gallons of raw goat milk in our fridge right now. I love being able to walk in from the barn every morning with a gallon + of delicious fresh milk for my family.
@@susannaashworth5348 Your Australian politicians are part of the lucirferian freemasonry who currently rule this world...but they won't rule it for long. Judgement Day will come, and this will will be nomore and evil will be nomore.
Yip, all sorts of dairy for me/us with goats, make it ourselves or bartering. no plants except maybe 2 or 3 x a year when I walk past the heirloom fruit trees and I think, hmm, I think I'll have one of those.. Never notice any change in my body and the next time I walk past I don't even think of eating the fruit.. Giving it away stops me feeling guilty of not eating it. No waste. Healthy oldie with 8 yrs of low carb life on our farm..beef mainly with some fish, shellfish, lamb, goat, eggs, venison and once in a while emu.. Great to hear we're not to far off track..
Thanks, doc! Earlier in my journey cheese was a no-go because I’d start retaining water within minutes of eating it (could feel my ankles and hands swell). Now I’m down almost 170 (from 360) and have a small amount of cheese with most meals. Love it!
Happy for you! I am finally down to 330 from 350... (but plateaued after acheivibg several days of ketosis in a row). I was obese from infancy, reached my ideal weight at age 24 through low carb (took 10 years) had 5 kids and struggling with weight for the last 27! Your example is encouraging! Thank you for your post! Well done!
I will be about one year into keto/carnivore this month, so quite excited about that. I haven't been into milk since I was about 10 - I often found the cream in it nauseating. I tried it again, over the years, and the closest I came was in a hot cocoa in the winter, or a latte for the long drives. But it's been several years since the latte, and I stopped having hot cocoa in winter when I moved to a ketogenic lifestyle, last year. So my sources of dairy are butter, cheese and yoghurt, and I enjoy them all. Living in South Africa, Dr. Cywes is right... here, I enjoy double-cream yoghurt, Monday - Friday. When I was doing PSMF a few months ago, I was also incorporating low-fat, high-protein yoghurt on my PSMF days, but I've given that up and just gone back to the double-cream yoghurt for all my yoghurt days. My wife also makes a lot of our meals with cream cheese, so that goes down well too.
I crave sour cream and thought I better stop consuming it because I was eating so much and it does have carbs in it. I just wanted you to know your not alone.
I am carnivore after near 10 who last 6 years had been falling asleep in my OMAD while eating...looking at my fork ask I face plant. Waking up with bent eye glass frames broken hindges with one of it's legs up in the air. Takes a week or so to get new ones so I was often seen with a cocktail toothpicks tiny American flag glued to it.
Love the information you give us all. Stock of knowledge is never wasted, it helps us be more proactive in helping ourselves and our doctors to view what is good and what is bad, when we ask or tell doctors about our experiances in a Keto or carnivore proper way of eating. Here in the UK, the medical world has been listening to us and learning about Keto and how to help deal with our growing obesity problem and diabetes, our National Health Service advocates a low carbohydrate diet. This is a massive move away from, what has been the normal, “It has to be right, what we learned at medical school”, blindly. This can only have come from those of us who have listened and learned about what is normal and that has to be ancestral and biological how we lived without having sugar/carbs every day. Reversing our diabetes, getting fit from loosing overly filled fat cells. Keto and carnivore way of eating, gives us our health back and best of all, its very tasty. A big thank you to all you guys here in the UK that told your doctors, showed them your results of eating the way our ancestors did. You didn’t just help yourselves you helped our future of our country, with a great change in our NHS. Additionally a thank you to those who put their careers on the line, to show us and told us about Keto and Carnivore way of eating, far to many to callout individually here on RUclips.
Oh really? I have been keto low carb since 2015 after doing my own research. I just finished a course on Health&nutrition and the guidelines are still millions of servings of "healthy" carbs a day, plant-based focused and very low carb. Even children above 5 "should" be eating LOW fat and "butter is not necessary"🙄 So where are these guidelines in UK so openly promoted please?! Yes, my 2 GP friends already recommend low carb or keto for patients especially diabetic ones but it's because they've done their own research and look at the new findings in nutrition not because of government/NHS officiall guidelines. I so wish the trend would be as you describe but I think it's just wishful thinking. You can't find literally any low carb food in NHS hospitals and even in shops. More keto/low carb/diabetic foods in supermarkets in Spain or any other European country than in UK. I so wish you were right about the "trend" but I'm afraid we still have a loooong way to go.
For most of my life I thought I was dairy intolerant and I ate very little dairy. When I started the carnivore diet, I discovered my allergy reactions were actually from the vegetables I was eating not the dairy. I started eating dairy for variety and have had no allergy reactions to it. In fact, most of my allergy symptoms went away two days after I started the carnivore diet. I only have reactions to dust and cats now. I was actually getting ready to start full allergy testing and getting shots. But now I don't need to and I've stopped taking all allergy medication.
I´ve been a carnivore for 4 years and my dairy intolerance has gotten worse, so no matter what you believe, you simply cannot lump everyone in together. I kept trying dairy for years, I break out within hours of consuming dairy and I´ve tried goat cheese, thinking the A2 diary would be easier to tolerate, but not true in my case. I finally faced the fact that I cannot do dairy. Also, talk to some people with celiac disease, they often have a strong dairy intolerance as well and it doesn´t get better with time...#ToEachTheirOwn
I was eating keto/carnivore for 2 years and my dairy intolerance never got better either. Added to that, I stopped being able to tolerate eggs at 1.5 year in too. 🤦♀️
@@tyronekim3506 I have tried it because I figured it was the lactose causing all the problems for me, but perhaps casein is also in play. Not sure why I still reacted with the Lactaid, but I did, unfortunately.
My friends stare at me agog if we meet for breakfast and I eat cheese, bacon, eggs and butter and a small amount of double cream in my coffee, telling me I’m going to have a heart attach, whilst they stuff themselves with high carb cereal, low fat yogurt and low fat spread on their toast!
You did not touch up on the processing of dairy. Thanks for always sharing great information Doc 👍💪Supposedly, pasteurization and homogenization renders commercial milk useless. What's your take on that?
Very interesting. I'm in the UK and have M.E. I follow Dr Sarah Myhill. A British Dr and M.E expert. She says dairy is inflammatory for people with ME. I was dairy free for 3 years. I now have goats cheese and yogurt. It's lovely. I'm fine with it.
I started Carnivore diet 4 weeks ago. I've been fighting Crohn's for over 20 years. Wish me luck when I go to see my Doctor and tell him what I'm doing but I can see a small amount of improvement already. I look at it as baby steps but thank God for every little step of feeling better. I'm not over weight really 5' 11" 195lb but could lose 10 lb or so. I've been able to keep most of my weight even on the carnivore. I've been so sick I lost down to 160 lb and that was way to light for my body type. Thank you Doctor
I agree. No one talks about lactose intolerance despite the statistical fact that approx one third of the entire world is lactose intolerant. Glad someone is talking about something that effects hundreds of millions of people
My Dad use to get constipation if he ate too much dairy, and so do I, which I guess it means it's a genetic condition. However I also noticed more of a phlegm build-up when I also over-indulged in dairy, and being prone to Respiratory issues most of my life, it did affect me negatively. So, now I'm on Keto (and I am a Senior but overweight), I try to restrict my dairy consumption to goat-milk Kefir, butter, and occasionally heavy cream, but rarely because I do feel a bit 'off' when I take it too often (I use powdered Coconut creamer instead). Also, speaking of genetics. If both your parents were born outside the U.S., in situations where the cows weren't genetically modified (A1/A2 difference), could that also affect their children to be more sensitive or allergic to U.S. dairy products than dairy products from overseas? Just speculating.🤔
I love this video and it gives me a clue to my concerns! I love dairy, especially goat kefir, and yogurt, but I have some kind of itching on my neck, some call it keto rush, and last night it was terrible, and couldn't fall asleep for an hour and then suddenly came kind of revelation from heaven: stop the cheese and kefir for a week and see what's going to happen!!! So, wish me luck and strength -it ain't easy to stop something you love ❤Blessings, Doc 🙏
Used to have a guy who had goats and made cheese and had goat shares so I could get his milk too! It was wonderful. I was so sad when he quit raising goats and got a 9-5 job. I love kefir, whole fat plain organic yogurt, butter of course, and cheese which I try to find raw. So glad to hear of the nutrients. I skip milk. Didn't know cheese was constipating.
Awesome info, Dr. Cywes. I am a lactation consultant and RN, PHN, MSN. My studies stated that most humans stop making lactose after the child is 5-7 years old. Then is this incorrect information, I want to teach the correct information. Thanks
I actually did a 30 raw milk fast once, felt fine and lost 12lbs. Nowadays since I really don't like cooking I will make a smoothie 3-4 times a week from 4 egg yolks, 2oz HWC, a tablespoon of a monk fruit/erythritol sweetener and 8oz raw goat milk. Does it slow down my weight loss? Yeah, probably. But does it keep me from eating something I shouldn't when I don't feel like cooking? Yup. So I consider that a win.
Artificial sweetners trigger insulin response so much why would you even bother with it? If you need sweetness in your life you're heading in the wrong direction. Just my opinion
Yes-I’ve had the same experience. The raw milk I get from a farm coop, tastes so sweet and delicious to me that it actually substitutes for the carb-laden sweets I was eating!
Thank you! I have been loosing weight on beef, eggs, water, I just couldn’t feed myself enough (ate past being full, lots of fat too) and I’m too skinny already and very physically active. Adding back raw yogurt finally turned my scale into the right direction, I’m gaining muscle, I’m so happy! I don’t seem to have any issues with it but listening to all the carnivores railing against it… I was hoping eliminating it would make further improvements to my health. But It didn’t. So I’m adding it back in and so far so good.
Thanks Doc. I do about 90 % carnivore and no processed foods wheat or grains, no sugar(!) and am steadily getting more healthy. enjoy your videos, truly trust and appreciate your information.
"As you go on a ketogenic diet, your ability to tolerate dairy, cheese especially, will improve." I hope so. I think my dairy sensitivity has improved since I haven't been having any noticeable effects when I try it once a week.
It did for me. I was vege for a decade and towards the end I cut out dairy because it was becoming harder for me to process… when I finally started back with meat and eventually keto/carnivore my body now favors dairy.
I couldn't have much dairy before keto except yogurt. I always thought I was lactose intolerant, but I think it was the sugar that always made me sick before. I buy the whole milk plain yogurt and can eat any cheese now.
I do find that I can tolerate a lot of dairy as part of a low-carb diet, despite having an intolerance early in life. Some people definitely don't. It's all about listening to your body and reading its signals, inni
I find that if I don't eat cheese I don't have a bowel movement. I am trying to get back to being carnivore, I am having a relapse; but feel encouraged when I listen to you. Thank you Dr. Cywes.
See how different our bodies are? If I do eat cheese, I won't poop for a week. It's like cement in my pipes! And the cramping! It's been like that for 65 years, no matter how I may try to introduce it. Cheese hates me.
Coming from a French background, you should understand why I can't do without dairy... I even make my own cheese when our goats are in milk. Before going keto almost ten months ago now, I'm pretty sure that I was either lactose intolerant, or after listening to you, casein intolerant. I suffered from an unexplained cough and I would go all phlegmy after a cup of hot chocolate, yes complete with sugar! All gone now, completely. I still eat cheese and I make my own cremaccino. ½ cup of pure cream and a double shot of espresso.. I drink this just once a day, can't live without it. It's my morning energy drink and it doesn't even kick me out of ketosis because it's 42% fat.
Thank you! But don't tell Dr Berry 😅 I've away loved whole milk and my opinion is I could live on it. I'm watering down heavy cream now to reduce the carbs.
Personally, I don't like milk for the taste or consistency. I prefer my dairy in the form of organic Greek yogurt or a real cheese, especially feta on a mixed salad. I don't comment often, but want to say "thank you" for your videos. Take care.
You're not alone. Some adults don't even drink milk on itself. I drink milk every other day. Many will consume it on a receipes or the thing you mentioned.
I’m Eastern European and I love my fermented dairy! Yes,I cycle on and off from it. Since going carnivore keto, I love it even more and drinking milk, raw cow or goat, always organic, grassfed, full fat - is a huge pleasure and the only sugar I have and the taste is great and I don’t get hooked into wanting or having more because I do feel indigestion from drinking un fermented milk, even kefir and too much cheese gives me the endless burps. So I’m trying it with an enzyme tablet plus slowly chewing the kefir with the milk - a little in my beverage, not a glass. The enzyme mix has no lactase and it’s helping anyway. I’m making my own kefir and sour cream. I live in Vermont where there (used to be) more cows than people. Alas, that is Changing and quite rapidly, too. The dairy farms cannot make money anymore and so they are switching to hemp. That is another controversial topic.
I've been on Keto for a few years now and have received the typical health benefits. My Blood Lipid Panels look great and my cardiac risk is very low. I do rotate off of Keto for a week every 5 weeks so that I can get some of the nutrients I may be missing on Keto. But ... no more junk food and my sugar intake is dramatically lowered.
Fascinating doc! I'm on a ketovore diet now for a few weeks. I feel a bit better now about adding milk to my coffee! Hey, I'd like to hear more about your baby son's progress. Sounds like he's going real well so far!
I eat dairy while limiting the higher carb types to manage my insulin resistance and continue weight loss. However managing inflammation is my primary goal. I know many people who have severe inflammation issues find dairy unhelpful but not me. I do have to be strict with many vegetables fruit oils and grains. Absolutely no sugars or artifical sweetners. Sharing encourage the understanding that one size does not fit all. By the way my need to control inflammation in my spinal cord is serious due to a bone overgrowth causing compression. If i dont i will become paralysed - doctor's comment- looking at you mri i dont know why you are not already paralysed.
Yes, I cannot have dairy. Instant inflammation and joint pain. We are all different. Milk that came from a cow was for the calf. in my humble opinion. We are humans, not a mammalian species, so I agree to disagree. Human milk for human babies. Milk for calves.
Part 4 Lactose enzyme absence results in a food intolerance manifestation. We call it lactose intolerance. However, dairy allergy is mostly connected with dairy protein, namely casein. This I discovered when I used soymilk made creamier by adding casein. Got same allergic response. Concerning mammals. Milk constituents vary according to species. Human mother's milk is more geared for brain development than for bone development. A very important distinction that needs to be kept in mind. How long does a calf take to walk and become an adult compared to a human baby? So for those mothers who cannot produce breast milk the use of other alternative nutrient rich milks can be helpful to supply the needs of the developing brain. Just be careful of eg soyamilk infant feeds that are 50% sugar and even 33% lactose feeds can get a baby hyperactive and keep their parents deprived of sleep.
I find mozzarella cheese with tomato, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and basil to be a bit addictive. So I'm only having it once every few days. Lately I kept getting various brands of kefir, plain yogurts and such, for the probiotic diversity. Also, a slice of irish butter is my favorite way to start a meal. Heavy cream, a few drops of stevia and of edible orange and cinnamom oil makes a great dessert.
If I have cheese in my house I will binge eat it until it's gone, therefore I don't buy it unless it's for a specific recipe I'm preparing. It's not a staple item I keep in the fridge.
A lot of people say this. My sister is like that. Luckily, cheese and nuts are not a problem. There is cheese right now in my fridge that is moldy and needs to go in the trash. My problem are the processed keto treats. 🙄 i can't control myself...I'm so jealous of those who can.
@@steph6197 And I'm jealous of your moldy cheese! I, however, have never had a keto treat. I've seen them in the stores and have zero temptation to buy any. I think if I actually tried one, I'd be instantly hooked.
Part 3 So if one person has a problem with dairy, whether medical or choice, respect their choice and likewise, if a person has no problem with it, let them enjoy it. Just remember one complicating factor. Modern farming practices are not the same as a 100 years ago. So if you are a farmer that is doing his best to follow original practices (the organic style) ypur milk will be of a far better quality an lower risk of causing cancer. A secret that has been shutdown in the industry is the risk of aflotoxin M1. I know about it because as an engineer I had engineering, scientific and industrial research reports crossing my desk and this one caught my attention. In addition, the virus that causes leukaemia is predominantly passed on to humans through dairy. It is another well kept secret discovered in the 1960's and kept from the public eye. And lastly, my friend who worked for a major dairy company told me of his experience as maintenance manager. He was asked to throw yoghurt culture into a tanker truck of milk that had come in from farm collections and that was full of puss and blood, not fit for being sold as milk. Needless to say, my friend quit eating shop yoghurt.
Doctor, I love the eggs, butter, cheese & the heavy cream in coffee but pretty sure when drinking a glass a day of whole milk it was causing the inflammation around my eyes and at tops of my cheeks. Now gone with the elimination of milk. What is responsible for the apparent inflammatory effect of milk?
Pasteurizing it (or UHT-ing it) Homogenizing it Grain fed, A1 bovines Lotsa things Eat ur dairy RAW from A2 ruminants only, who are truly pastured, not grain fed and then culture it, don’t swig it as a liquid ( glass of “milk”). Yogurt, kefir, cheese, sour cream, buttermilk, cultured (“Amish”) butter. Heavy cream even is usually ok if raw. Eggs are not dairy. They come from birds.
My brother is dairy sensitive, then he went to our uncle's dairy farm and drank whole milk for a week - no problem.... The problem is the pasteurizing process Also My Jewish friend told me that he lost the enzyme to digest pork -because it's been so long since he last ate it 👍
Like me… and very concerned about losing more fat and getting wrinkly skin (which has happened on my arms.) I have been 128-30 since I was 17 (now 72) and lost almost four pounds in a week when I stopped eating bread. That mere amount caused wrinkles all over my arms and around my eyes. So far I have been wrinkle-free so it is a bit of a disappointment. Eating more fats in preparation for my carnivore start tomorrow. I am doing it as a last-ditch effort to get rid of migraines 2-4 times a week. Thank you Doctor!
Music to my ears... and I mean a full orchestra! I've been fooling around with carnivore for 6 months. My goal is to reverse lupus, and not to lose more weight. Dairy is what keeps me true. Being on a very-low oxilate/salicylate diet for 10 years brought me to normal weight of 110 lbs. (I'm 5'0") Without dairy, I continue to lose and it gets scary when I can't stay above 100 lbs. I would love to hear what you think of dairy when healing auto-immune issues. Thank you for all you bring to us!!!
My way of eating is LCHF with intermittent fasting and I do work in a little cheese and butter a few times a week. No issues in over four years. Nice video as always.
I love dairy and though I've been so sick from my gut, I have never stopped having dairy on my menu. Started carnivore 9 months ago, the best I could have done, I started to really heal from a debilitating condition, my body has been becoming stronger and rejuvenating. But I wanted something else so I've been trying different carbs always in very small amounts and well, learning to understand my body and my mind. I eat a lot of butter and cream which is not really organic but close to it because it's from my neighbor's cows and they are pasture raised but they add some stuff. Also kefir every day. One thing is very clear to me, dairy hasn't been the cause of my terrible allergies and physical problems.
I couldn’t nurse my second daughter. At 24 months she refused milk. I was concerned. Pediatrician said, does she eat cheese, butter or yogurt (mine was homemade, heavy cream). Me:yes. Dr.Ron: don’t worry

Keto simply means you have very low carb and use fat as energy. Carnivore means you only eat animals. Dairy is a personal thing. Some carnivores have it and some do not. I personally love raw milk and will never give it up. Not willingly anyway.
Depending on how you define dairy, I may be one of your hen teeth as to cow's dairy. As a baby, my mother could not feed me cow's milk and had to buy goat's milk for me to drink. I tried to drink cow's milk during childhood and later. I always had constipation and a runny nose like someone had turned on a faucet. I gave up drinking cow's milk in my 30s. Nowadays, I eat small amounts of cow's cheese and butter and yogurt on occasion. But I know when I do that within an hour my nose will be running like an open faucet and I will be coughing from the mucus in my throat. If I want dairy, I will always go toward goat's milk or cheese. So yes, I do dairy, I just consume the meat and not drink the milk.
@@blueskypicks I have tried the super pasturized, raw, organic and every brand of dairy that I can find in my area. Nothing keeps my nose from running like a faucet. Thanks anyway for the suggestion.
Some may have bad reaction to dairy (not me, I can drink as much dairy as I wish, but somewhat impared with lactose, I shoot for full fat, not skimmed). Switching to organic isn't a bad idea. I just buy commercial (only I can get grass-fed butter).

Veggies and Carnivore don't mix. You mean Ketovore?

Thank you for doing what you do and the posts that you post!
congrats & well done!

Variations can occur between different brands and specific product formulations.)
1. Parmesan and Romano cheese: Approximately 30-40% casein.
2. Cheeses such as Cheddar, Gruyere, Swiss , Colby and Provolone: Around 25-30% casein.
3. Feta and Goat cheese: Approximately 14-18%
4. Greek yogurt: Higher casein levels due to straining.
6. Regular yogurt: Moderate amount of casein.
7. Cottage cheese: Contains a moderate amount of casein ( about 11-13%)
Very useful information. Thanks a lot..!!!!
This makes sense why I don't want to give my heavy cream up. I use about 1 tbsp in my coffee with butter.

I am slowly transitioning myself over to keto/low-carb.

I was obese from infancy, reached my ideal weight at age 24 through low carb (took 10 years) had 5 kids and struggling with weight for the last 27! Your example is encouraging! Thank you for your post! Well done!
Churning butter was one of the first homestead skills i taught my daughters ❤
Sour milk is a traditional food in Czechia (where I come from). And it is a good choice on keto. I drink it almost daily.
Of course the bacteria that sour the milk convert some of the sugars into lactic acid, which means less sugar.
Thanks for sharing your liberating opinion in dairy, I love sour cream ☺️ Please never stop doing what you do and helping so many people 🙏🏻❤️
I crave sour cream and thought I better stop consuming it because I was eating so much and it does have carbs in it.
*Very low FAT I meant
Again, the Doc telling the truth in his no nonsense way that we all love so much!
Depends on the brand
Yes! Know yourself and adjust accordingly.
Hi. I'm curious to know if you're also intolerant to lactose free milk and have tried, Lactaid.
Let them eat cake 🎂 😃
You did not touch up on the processing of dairy. Thanks for always sharing great information Doc 👍💪Supposedly, pasteurization and homogenization renders commercial milk useless.
What's your take on that?
I believe his child drinks raw milk. I think that is what he said in another video.
Just love listening to you. You have some great one liners Doc. 😊
I love the crowbar line
“… the CPAP probably prevented that cheese from jumping into your mouth” 😂
I started Carnivore diet 4 weeks ago. I've been fighting Crohn's for over 20 years. Wish me luck when I go to see my Doctor and tell him what I'm doing but I can see a small amount of improvement already. I look at it as baby steps but thank God for every little step of feeling better. I'm not over weight really 5' 11" 195lb but could lose 10 lb or so. I've been able to keep most of my weight even on the carnivore. I've been so sick I lost down to 160 lb and that was way to light for my body type. Thank you Doctor
best wishes autoimmune disorders are difficult to endure. Glad you found Carnivore woe
This has been the most interesting and informative video I've seen on diary products etc - Thank you for sharing!!
Great information! We are fortunate enough to have the ability to get whole raw milk straight from the farm weekly!
You're very blessed, I hope this is still the case. I.I'm not sure I could have given up milk for carnivore diet if I had access to raw milk
Wow i bet your child is one of the calmest toddler ever! I wish i knew all this for my daughters when they were young.❤
My problem with cheese is that I love it and it is almost as addictive to me as carbohydrates! Also it will absolutely constipate you. 🌵🌵🌵
I’m so happy to have this topic laid to rest. Thank-you !
I have done just raw organic grass fed milk for 1 and 2 months, felt fine.
Yes-I’ve had the same experience. The raw milk I get from a farm coop, tastes so sweet and delicious to me that it actually substitutes for the carb-laden sweets I was eating!
You are one of the few lights in my life. Thanks for being honest ❤
Glad to hear it. I have always said if I were stranded on a desert island with only one food to eat it would be milk. It is my favorite!!
Great point on insulin suppression! Excellent! It just answered a big question for me! Thank you.
I still don't tolerate dairy, but it is mainly because of the dairy protein, not lactose as 24 hour yogurt fermentation gets rid of the lactose.
All I can say is that giving up dairy was harder than sugar for me
Giving up cheese and cream would kill me
Butter & sour cream/cream cheese too
Don't give up dairy. But do try to stay away from drinking liquid dairy. Butter and cheese is okay.
Giving up sugar and ultra-processed food was the hardest 😩 cheese 🧀 doesn't trigger me, fortunately.
much harder for me...
@@OrbRider You're not alone.
Thank you! But don't tell Dr Berry 😅 I've away loved whole milk and my opinion is I could live on it. I'm watering down heavy cream now to reduce the carbs.
Why it has very low carbs.
Loved this!! Thank you for your time Dr! I believe in God who created all creatures, great and small! He knew what he was doing!!
We have been told that we are suppose to stop drinking milk after 5 years of age
Thanks for this video
Yikes! I certainly hope you can avoid any back surgery or further injury.
Yes, I cannot have dairy. Instant inflammation and joint pain. We are all different. Milk that came from a cow was for the calf. in my humble opinion.
We are humans, not a mammalian species, so I agree to disagree.
Human milk for human babies. Milk for calves.
Part 4
Lactose enzyme absence results in a food intolerance manifestation.
Love this man!
Amen. Doc and his Wife are amazing people. So blessed to know them here on social media. God is so good!
So thankful to have found your channel. Your info is on point. Much respect.
I love unflavored full fat greek yoghurt but it makes me gain weight really fast.
Part 3
So if one person has a problem with dairy, whether medical or choice, respect their choice and likewise, if a person has no problem with it, let them enjoy it.
What is responsible for the apparent inflammatory effect of milk?
curious about this too
Sugar.
Milk is loaded with sugar.
Milk.
Pasteurizing it (or UHT-ing it)
Homogenizing it
Grain fed, A1 bovines
Lotsa things
Eat ur dairy RAW from A2 ruminants only, who are truly pastured, not grain fed and then culture it, don’t swig it as a liquid ( glass of “milk”). Yogurt, kefir, cheese, sour cream, buttermilk, cultured (“Amish”) butter. Heavy cream even is usually ok if raw.
Eggs are not dairy. They come from birds.
@@dialecticalmonist3405 only way lactose is a problem is if ur allergic to it. This is rare.
My brother is dairy sensitive, then he went to our uncle's dairy farm and drank whole milk for a week - no problem....
The problem is the pasteurizing process
Also
My Jewish friend told me that he lost the enzyme to digest pork -because it's been so long since he last ate it 👍
A Jew eating pork? Damn
See this with many people.
Thanks for addressing underweight people 😊
Like me… and very concerned about losing more fat and getting wrinkly skin (which has happened on my arms.)
I have been 128-30 since I was 17 (now 72) and lost almost four pounds in a week when I stopped eating bread.
Yup!🧀🧈🥛😋👍

Thank you a thousand times for your clarity. I am really struggling to understand keto versus carnivore and dairy food .
Keto simply means you have very low carb and use fat as energy. Carnivore means you only eat animals. Dairy is a personal thing. Some carnivores have it and some do not. I personally love raw milk and will never give it up. Not willingly anyway.
Dr Berry advises cutting out all dairy for men with swollen prostate, is this to reduce lactose/sugar levels to reduce insulin to reduce inflammation?
I am the same as you when I have full cream milk as found having lactose free only way I can tolerate having milk.
I love goat dairy.
But I always take any dairy with enzymes.
Try eating only organic dairy. Since I switched to organic milk I don't have flim or get a runny nose.
I have a casein allergy. Will see how to overcome!
