Sorry am late to comment on an old video but this video really inspired me. Am a bigginer photographer and am using NIKON D3200. This video gave me hope that with this I can do better as well. All I need is a 50mm and 85mm I think. Thank you Andre, really I will keep in touch. #TEACHERrolemodel as well
Yes and no, it all depends on the look you want to get. I think a 50mm would work great on a crop censer camera, I've used that for years, but a 35mm would be awesome as well.
Thanks for the video mate! I've got a Nikon d3400 and I'm trying to get a new lens for portraits. Do you know what the difference is between Nikon 50mm f/1.8G AF-S vs Nikon 50mm f/1.8D? Which one should I get? And also if it's worth to pay more for a 50mm f/1.4G. I'm a beginner by the way.
Just get the 50mm f/1.8G as it as auto focus with any Nikon camera system. The 1.8d is older and may not auto focus with some crop sensor cameras. If you have the d7100 up you should be good with the 1.8D but get the G.
@@Andredesignz the metering is easy to read, when the marker is at the center, it means you have perfect exposure, however when it's into the negative, it means you are under exposed, thus your picture would be dark when you take the picture, when the meter is too much into the positive it also mean you are over exposed. Hence one needs to keep it in the middle, unless some special effect is being sort after. To control the metering, one needs to use the shutter to either bring it from positive to normal and from negative to normal. Hope this helps
Hello sir, just came across this post today, the picture quality is quite good... I'm a beginner in photography, was wondering which camera to get, between this nikon d3400 and sony A58??.. Which would you prefer??.. Thanks in anticipation..
To be honest, It doesn't matter what camera you use. it's the user as cliche as it might sound. But if I am to recommend a camera brand I would say Nikon. I would go with the Nikon D5300 or the D7100.
maybe your shutter speed is too slow. Are you shooting natural light? You have to keep your shutter speed higher than 100 sometimes if you don't have steady hands.
@@Andredesignz Yes shooting natural light and my shutter speed is at least 125, most of the time it is over 1600 but shots are still blury. I am begining to think my hands are shakey or simply 11 focus points is not enough. I checked my lens'es calibration and seems to be ok.
@@Andredesignz Thanks for quick replies. I will try a tripod as you suggested. Lens and the sensor are clean I am sure about that but I am not so sure about viewfinder there are dirts in it.
I think you are shooting with 1.8! In that case, if you are very close to the subject and fucus the eyes, the nose can be blurred out! You need to increase your aperture and then try again!

Nope. You need a 24mm/35mm and a 50mm because of crop factor. If you get an 85mm (*1.5) thats 130mm. It's better to lean wider with crop APSC cameras.

You know your camera is good, if the photos it captures preserves the beauty of the model. Lovely work!

Try making use of the metering within the camera, you would know, when a picture is overly exposed or under exposed before you press your shutter
I've never really used the metering as I don't really understand it. I just leave it on the default settings.

I can read the exposure meter bro. I thought you were taking about matrix metering, center weighted metering and spot metering.
I use exposure metering a lot when doing real estate photography.
