How can you not like Letterman? The man's a legend
Had the privilege of seeing him live in 99. Awesome experience, 17 years later I still remember his 'kids eating Salt' bit that night.
thank you very much for showing dave's some of the best moments. he's one of the king if king's....thanks for your selective and good clips of dave...i love him for his humor, instant reaction in positive manner, humbleness, creative response, simpleness, much more...i like the way he runs at the beginning of the show..full of energy and enthusiasm,,,thanks...very much...llove,,,,,,,,
Joaquim Phoenix wasn't on drugs. He was just acting for his movie
It so bad it would've more reassuring to know he was on drugs.
No he was literally fd up.
@@gotheDLsummertour no he was not.
Dave outlasted them all. Many people alive today grew up watching him. He is... Great
"Somebody you meet in prison?"
IM SO DONE
met*
That was so rude and uncalled for.
@@SantoshKumar-ws2qz I posted that 5 years ago...
@@Aymen0627 Yeah so? I'm not trying to attack you if that's what you're thinking.
You're quitting? I'm afraid, I can't let you do that, Dave.
+和ァ独 Well played.

Daisy....daisy.
May I intervene as a 53 year old voice of wisdom? The youngsters don't get Dave because of time. Back in the day, his attitude was cutting edge. Today, he seems tame. Yet, not then. Thus, we have the generational gap that hits every generation. In other words, Dave was way ahead of his time and time morphed him into being just another guy on the street, on the radio, on tv as in, today. Back then? His style of humor was basically outrageous. Pioneering. The accident you wanted to rubberneck half the time. He lit up tv like it was never lit up before. I understand that half of you have no clue as to what I speak. But, I'm telling you, when he burst on the scene, he was unlike anything anyone dared. Madonna at her height and him basically telling her she was a joke? He was the first real ballsy guy on tv that ever was. He ignored all the previous "tv rules" and went after truth. End of story and he was first.
Tells us more grandpa
Joe Wagner As a 4-year-old, I find your snark offensive, old young guy. Shut the fuck up.
Lol. Joe is just a new soul who either doesn't respect or understand life just yet. I cut him a break. I'm a betting man though and I guarantee you he hadda look up "snark" no matter what he says. Young versus old souls do a lot of that. Learning. Good luck on that journey Joe.
***** you might ' get ' letterman but it appears you dont ' get ' what Steve is saying
Basically you're admitting the fact that he's an out of touch dinosaur who should have been taken off air years ago.
What an intelligent and brilliant human being he is, i absolutely loved the guy! And that love from Julia Roberts is just something else :D
He's a perverted, liberal, hypocritical, creepy old sack of dog shit.
Hi, me and my brother had seen David Lettermann Late Night only for 1 Year (!) on TV, here in Germany.
But it was a great one !!
Thank You David Letterman
The only talk show host that was Dave's equal was his mentor, Johnny Carson. Dave had an edge to him that no one else has ever approached. His effortless response to the inane things some of his guests came out with always left me laughing and in awe of his intellect.
i think julia roberts had a crush on dave
let's say many crushes :D
wonder if he ever slipped her the tongue..... god she is naturally 'sex on a stick'
WHAT A WOMAN
Sexy AF
And I think Letterman had a crush on Courtney Cox.
Its marketing sheeple!
David Letterman, One class act.
Nobody outsmarts Letterman and thats the brilliance of his shows. And when he knows the guest can out-whit him then he just lets it be. I.e. Norm Macdonald, Kauffman.
Heisenberg Exactly right....and that, of course, was the beauty of Johnny Carson--he let his guests take off without feeling the need to interject some witticism every 5 seconds.
Heisenberg Robin William's did, 50 times over and plenty more in his early standup career before David was even on The Late Show. He's a smart guy but don't forget that, even to David, William's improvisational skills and priceless humor transcended genius to a point where pretty much everyone just let him have the floor no matter where he was.
.
+Heisenberg That will sounds pedantic maybe, but if you had -more- *examples* -than those two-, then you should have said "e.g." instead of "i.e.". ;)
Tomasz Wota oops, wota pillock i am
There is no one to replace Dave.
Letterman with Julia was pure magic and true
I grew up watching Dave he helped me threw some tough times. Love him.
We are all gonna miss David Letterman... Take care and God Bless you for bringing joy to the millions of people around the world who stayed up late, just to watch your show...
Warm wishes,
From Malaysia
Sebastian
Dave was the KING!!! Best Top Ten was the Delta Airlines bit......Miss you already Dave.
" leave a comment if you love dave , if you don't remember dave leave a comment telling us how you cant wait to grow up ! " hahahahhahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhaha that is the funniest joke i heard in weeks :D
Dave was the best.....Thanks for all the laughs and there was a lot of them.....
Robin Williams interviews and also Joan Rivers were some of the best interviews he did.
Thanks Dave all the way from Australia.
Thank you, Steve L. Dave has made history with his subtle eloquent cuts.
Somebody you met in prison.... Lmaoooooo
HAPPY 71TH BIRTHDAY DAVID LETTERMAN !!!
Simply the best.
wow . Letterman ... i loved his show
I remember the 1st time I saw him on Carson's Tonight show in the late 70's. Tried to tell someone about him the next day in high school, and I couldn't remember his name. It was a while before I watched any TV and suddenly he was in line for a daytime TV show.
Okay. I'm pretty sure that sucked. :(
But, thanks for sharing anyway.
Cade Terry I didn't intend to share that with you...I knew you wouldn't care...sorry. I don;t know how you got that...
Cade Terry +Thomas Terry Family trouble?
;)
Lol...no
Joaquin and Crispin were NOT on drugs. They were in character. Please.......
Needmore Zen Joaquin was definitely high. That whole thing about playing a part was a clean up of a very messy affair.
No it wasn't. It was part of his promotion for the movie ''I'm still here''.
So he made a full movie just to prove he wasnt on drugs?
either crispen was high or hes just weird......dave was noticeably nervous
Were their characters on drugs ?
Great job on the compilation.
i loved dave's holiday shows
One of my best Late Night shows is David Letterman thank you good job
I was on the Letterman show Nov 1989, what a blast
David = Genius
One of the best.
That Norm MacDonald moment still makes me well up.
Even more now.
We put up with watching such nonesense Dave was a Class Act!. Living outside of the US i missed most of what Dave Offered but what I saw was awesome
Thanks for sharing.
The best ever . David Letterman.
He's back through Netflix 😜
Will miss you Dave!
Mr. Rock´n Roll ! As Ray Romano have said : The day, the comedy died!
David Letterman is a Genius! Sadly will miss him on TV! All the best! And thanks for everyting!
I'll never forget when he ran and stuck to that velcro wall!
This was a nice compilation of Letterman's work, poignant when the new generation of late night talk show hosts bid good-bye to David. I would stay up, even on school nights, when I began watching his show in high school. The show started at 1235. It was a treat when he moved to CBS and was on an hour earlier, gave way to those khaki beige pants and hi-tops. It's nice to know that his brilliant work paid off. Some would say he was the 2nd best late night TV host behind Johnny Carson, but David was on late night TV for 33 years, became a terrific interviewer, idolized by awkward teenagers that grew older with him and gave hope to many fans. For fans like myself, look at his work from 1999 till he had the quadruple by-pass. After the surgery he looked like he got his energy and color back for what turned into a stellar 14 year run. He solidified his legacy as tops in his field in my book.
Dave was Johnny´s pick for replacement on the Tonight Show. That didn´t happen. What did happen was Johnny calling Dave more than quite often to trade ideas before Dave´s show. I believe this took place more than two or three times a week. Probably up until Johnny´s passing. Jack Paar, Johnny Carson & David Letterman. This is what history will show.
David is the BEST! ❤
Excellent choices. Congrats and thanks.
Letterman was fabulous. From pea boy to stupid human tricks to putting pizza on a tree. Dave will be missed. I hope what ever he does he is happy. Thank you Dave for some wonderful laughs.
Early Nineties, Dave and the Crew were in a small Hotel room with Carly Simon as the musical guest. She sang "All I Want is You".
She was awesome!
Paul on Keyboard was cool as ever.
It was sort of like Dave was playing out some wet dream fantasy.
Dave's given us thousands of great moments but that was my favorite show ever!
I saw most of those clips first run.
I even remember when he bombed on daytime TV
Cuz, Well, Ya, I'm old too.
DAMMIT!
I'm gonna miss Big Dave!
Some of the most touching shows were when he had his friend Warren Zevon on the program during his battle with cancer. I'm only a moderate Warren Zevon fan, but the sincerity and closeness of these two was very moving.
Any episide David Lettermen interviewed Robin Williams pure genius every time.
I just really hope for the best for Dave in his retirement from his show...he has brought sooo much enjoyment to countless people for many, many years. I say this with Johnny Carson on my mind. The Johnny Carson story ended under the most unfortunate of circumstances (after an amazing career entertaining people)...I hope for much better for Dave!!!
Richard Simmons gets blasted by Dave and his fire extinguisher.lmfao!!
I still miss Dave...
Me too
Great compilation!!
I love how he clowned Paris Hilton. In his mind he's probably thinking, "Who booked this girl?"
I like his show... he will be missed.
love Letterman since early 80s

Miss Dave he was the best
Boy, I still miss Dave. He just was the greatest.
I am going to miss dave. Cant wait for the finale
I remember the first time I saw Letterman I was in high school back in 2003 and watched his show on a nightly basis.
I haven't known him for many years, but I just realize he's really funny and has made a wonderful job.
That "wrestler" was jerry lawler
Ahem. Jerry 'The King' Lawler.
keebler503 yes of course jerry the king lawler sorry
Liam Williams the whole thing was a set up by Andy Kaufman and Lawler , Kaufman was the man who help bring back wrestling to the minds of the American public , Both Lawler and Kaufman were great entertainers
Yeah I knew that still pretty cool
Liam Williams
I agree still pretty cool
He was wonderful and will be missed
Thank you, great memories! 😂😂😂😂.
Big moments
james brown............3 tunes....papa funk!!!!!!!!! ill always remember that!
so long dave. i miss you already.
I would bullshit with people for 33 years to get a dance from Drew Barrymore and a kiss from Julia Roberts.....lucky guy!!
There was only one man who should've rightfully carried the mantle of Johnny Carson and actually has albeit on different networks, that is of course David Letterman. Hands down nobody is better, nobody.
One of my favorite moments on David Letterman was when Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir did the interview and also played a Duo of a few songs that was fantastic!!
I miss David Letterman. He makes me laugh so hard that I almost pee my pants.
i watched an episode of his show out of boredom and i was instantly hooked, that was 1997
Loved the last kiss! :))
Better than Leno and always have been.
Kitchen Nightmares: Kabob Room
I've been missing the Dave that was on NBC! He was never the same at CBS
we miss u- Dave😷😎
My greatest Letterman memory was when I was a kid. I remember him wearing a suit with a red silk inside liner, and I wanted a suit like Dave so bad. My parents were able to find one that somewhat fit me at a thrift store one day, and I wore it while I watched David Letterman. I thought he was so cool.
I love you Letterman's, we gonna miss you -_-
When Bud Melman came on as a perfect small replica of Roy Orbison, I just about shit a biscuit. Now THAT was one classic bit.
Dave having Oprah over and really melting her by being a gentleman
somebody you met in prison lol
Dave's finale blew away BOTH of Leno's! lol
--COMBINED!
Tina Fey is tight. You can't get past that. WOW
Carson was the King, David was the Crown Prince. I remember him from 1981, when he was fresh, brash, captivating.
Gonna miss em
Joaq wasn't on drugs though.
I know...that pissed me off that they did not do their research for this video. Smh. It's a skit Joaquin Phoenix was partaking in ffs!
Atheist Cadet 1st Class actually yes was. Got to love the typical denier crowd. Almost as bad anymore as the conformist crowd.
Piecrab Don't feed the troll.
Piecrab You respond like you are 12. So not going to bother with you.
Sloth from The Goonies Wait, he calls me names and makes it personal, and I am the troll? Guessing you're not much different than he is.
love you david ..you lve on in the hearts of millions....much love..Tee with LIONS NAMED LEO
I LOVE DAVID HE IS SO FUNNY, AND THE GUEST STARS WHOA, JULIA ROBERTS WAS ON 36 TIMES TOO
Colbert is not fit to tie Letterman's SHOES!
(HIM landing that job was the 7th wonder of the world)
It's October 2016 & I still miss Dave.
DITTO !!
he is really creative and fun
