chaos commander: "imperial genetically enhanced reindeers, i hope sahrgent?" chaos space marine: "no. normal reindeer mahlord" *chaso commander shoot in the face of the chaos marine, just because*
I dont play tabletop myself, so before this video i have no idea u can kill chaos spacemarine with laspistol. Who need spacemarines if u can shoot down one with a laspistol? :D
+David Mark I actually thought this was an awesome Batrep. Would love to see you play again. Your playstyle is fun to watch and your a cheerful, funny guy.
Gotta be honest. I burst out laughing on that rough rider charge. Turns out guardsmen with poles with sticks of TNT tied on the end are actually effective.
One of the coolest games that I´ve ever seen on this Channel. It looked like a real Warhammer scenario and that guy david is a really good sport. Hope to see more of him against dave.
I'm thinking perhaps durian of Nurgle (hell on the outside, heaven on the inside)... unless you need the kiwi blood in the fruit salad for extra chaosiness.
"They're punching your Terminator Armour, they've got bleeding knuckles at this point." "They can just use brass knuckles." "They don't have brass knuckles. This is the Imperial Gaurd, they're lucky to have shoes." That exchange made me love this video.
It's youtube. If people didn't complain about every single little thing, it would be boring in this comment section... actually no, that would be a nice change.
Here's a stupid idea for 2000pt Imperial Guard army: 1) Make seven squads of Conscripts with the additional thirty models 2) give each squad a Commissar 3) Make a Company Command with Creed and Kell 4) fill the rest of the points with tanks, artillery or another company command 5) Order three squads with "First Rank Fire! Second Rank Fire!" plus the rest with Rapid Fire 6) Enjoy rolling eight hundred and fifty dice To Hit.
HQ: Company Command Squad Troops: 6x Platoon Command Squad 6x5 Infantry Squad 6x Conscripts Squad 6x5 Heavy Weapons Team w/ Heavy Bolters Heavy Support: 3x3 Leman Russ Punisher w/ Heavy Bolter sponsons Total dakka: 949, 1549 on close range or w/ orders, 2149 per turn on close range and orders. And it's without getting full platoons or even FOC. Because that would be just insane.
The Taurox has a flawless design, the exhust pipe is pointing into the truck, and the passengers can die from friendly fire as they open the door and get shot by the gun to their side.
"Wellies?" "Jumpers?" You can almost hear Dave's mind being blown as he's introduced to this new vocabulary. Best bat rep I've watched in a long time. Nice army as well.
Dice gods, man, dice gods. I had a unit of Chaos Terminators get smashed to shreds by a Dark Eldar unit with a whip... She tore them to fucking shreds as I just couldn't roll at all. I've had Guardsman squads tear Carinifexes a new one, I've had a Demon Prince taken out by a couple of scarabs and I've had my own scarabs work apart a Titan. People always bang off rounds about their unit's 'stats' being effective. Your 2+/3+ saves are worth jack if you're rolling snake eyes.
Really pleasing to see genuine friendly players who respect each other and who can battle amicably. A really good example of how a battle can run and be almost seamless. thank you guys!
It's a shame I haven't spot it yet if it's there, but has david ever returned for another round? This probably remains as one of my more favorite batreps, rivaling that of Mike Grove & the Nerd of the North sessions!
I'm commenting before I watch the entire thing, because I just want to say, as a 10 year Imperial Guard veteran, I am extremely impressed with this list. It is well rounded, has lots of armor, a heavy hitting unit of elites, a decent pool of warp dice, seeing rough riders is always rare and nice, and the selection of armour is good. 4 russes is damn hard to beat up on. And fully painted, too! Now, we watch the video
Dangit, David! Don't tell the Canadians about the weekly tea party we have in Britain. You know the Queen will kick us out if we do. Also I can't get the image of like a hundred guardsmen punching Abaddon, the terror of the Imperium, to death and honestly I don't want to.
+winters SEO Hey winters SEO im a big fan of your games as well. I love Terminators, If you used them would you have put them elsewere or load them out diff ? I think they should of had a heavy flamer. Would of helped agaist all those guardsmen.
I have only been able to play the video game series Dawn of War so to me what these guys do with these recordings are amazing I love watching this and being able to understand more of the warhammer universe and its really cool seeing all these personal painted units
What are these? Wood Elf Guardsmen? Coming from a Fantasy player. Although I have watched a bunch of 40K games and I've never seen Rough Riders on deer. 30:15 Doing horrible cheese, typical Chaos player behaviour.
I would say it's not cheesy, Dave always get flak for not being super competitive, but this shows as he plays a better player he will step up his game. Abandon on his objective was a little bit of a waste of points but on the other hand Dave could think reasonable who in a guard/militarum army will be able to get him off that objective. Great game!!!!!
Out of all the cheese I've seen. Dave runs very little of it. If he wanted to be cheesy, I don't think this guy would have stood a chance with the Helldrake spam Dave could have brought, let alone Daemon ally shenanigans.
Watching Imp. Guard always makes the AC/DC song "Big Gun" start playing in my head, because that was the themesong to my buddy's Imp. guard army when we played years ago!
I now want to imagine because of Dave's comment that whenever the Imperial Guard blow themselves up (quite often) that one of the Chaos Space Marines fighting would throw down his bolter while every else is silent in shock and yell "SHIET"
Pepperoniman776 just check the reference pages. On the german RB it is on page 201. The second table on the page shows thar fast vehicles can shoot 2 weapons at 12", the third table informs about passengers shooting.
Hey Dave, thanks for all the battle reports but I've been watching your channel for a while and would be nice to see more SPACE WOLVES games. Last games with Demons and White Scars was a good fun, was something different than usual! Also I love Space Wolves... Please!! Thank you guys for all the good stuff!
if you use rough riders correctly they can be extremely effective, admittedly they have a rough life expectancy of one use in combat, but provided they get the charge they will make a mess of basically any marine unit not in terminator armour they come into contact with
Aaron Richards I'm no IG player, but Rough Riders seem pretty good. The two things that get in their way are the lack of new models and the fect that they compete with Hellhounds and Sentinels.
As a Guard player myself it's worth pointing out that Orders should be done at the beginning of the shooting phase. This doesn't seem like much of a big deal but it does affect the order in which you can say 'pop transports' and then mince the contents.
"I'm pretty sure the Emperor can't blow his own nose. Unless he uses psychic powers to blow his own nose." I lost my shit. oh my goodness this guy is hilarious. Awesome game as well!
Very engaging fight and the Guard did better than I thought. I hope this taught the Guard player the value of AA and Meltas, because he needed that more than Flamers. Medics are never worth the points, the 15pts per Medic he had could have given his Sarges power swords or upgraded his Flamers to Meltas. Heavy Bolters are ok, but that was a lot of fire power and points wasted to kill 35pt Rhinos due to constantly firing snap shots and hoping for 6s. Just wasn't worth it. Dang that Bale flamer destroyed that Kid in the 3 rounds Dave used it. I hope this also teaches folk that you do not use Orbital Bombardments within 12" of any friendly units, because that /will/ happen. Glad he didn't us Pyromancy and used Divination, because Pyromancy is really bad. But how lucky do you have to be to get Invisibility with your one Telepathy roll? Mistakes I saw during the game. Turn 1: Taurox doesn't have forward shooting ports, they have two on a side (for their 4 ports) and they were not in arc. Pask needed to make a Order check to Split Fire for the tanks in his unit (Erradicator) to fire on different targets. Turn 2: Land Raider was shooting snap shots, so it should have missed the Russ. This turned out to have a pretty big impact because the kid lost that Russ early. Champ won a Challenge, should have rolled on the reward table for each time he won. Dave rolled once in 4 wins through out the game, common Dave! Chaos with the minus leadership from losing 3 in combat, he failed his Leadership and should have been swept (well, maybe swept, is a 3 vs 4). Turn 3: The Voxs allow you to re-roll the Orders when you roll a 12 because your re-rolling the Orders. Should not have been a question about it. After that there just not much left to comment about because there wasn't much left.
Just going to point out some rules errors here, the eradicator was way out of coherency with Pasks tank in turn 1, If the taurox moves more than 12 the scions would shoot their meltas as snap shots - they can't fire at their regular skill just because the taurox is fast, dozer blades are not part of the hull, a, leman russ vanquisher is 135 points, Pask has the crack shot rule also which allows you to re roll all failed penetrating hits and he didn't roll a leadership test to see if pask and the eradicator could split fire, you can't move a vehicle again in the shooting phase after a squad disembarks and Daves termies would have hit the demolisher automatically since it was immobilised, orders are done at the start of the shooting phase not during, merry christmas.
As of 7th edition, Split Fire no longer requires leadership tests (same with Counter Attack) - don't know if the Astra Militarum Codex has a special rule written that they do, but if it's just normal Split Fire no test was needed.
It's under the tank order page though, they count as leadership 9 and you have to roll that before choosing the order to split fire or 1 of the other 2 orders, people don't seem to understand the whole tank commander squadron rule.
Ya I thought that was strange that Dave disembarked then moved flat out after but I'm not a rules expert. Also what about the 4+ jink on the hell drake? Wouldn't it be a 5+? Which is pointless because it has a 5+ invul. This may have mattered because he rolled a 4.
46:50 - You have to issue orders at the start of the shooting phase. He wouldn't have been able to shoot at those CSM at that time. Only killed one guy so I guess it's not the world.
I have a friend who plays Guard and I keep joking we need to make a rhino silhouette template for kill markers to spray on the side of his chimeras because his command chimera CONSTANTLY destroys my rhinos with his multi-lasers.
This was awesome to watch. Great playing, very friendly jabbing at each other and terrific terrain. I want to get started with this hobby in the next few months with a Grey Knight army. Watching good games like this makes me even more excited to jump in.
Joost Zaal erk əːk noun 1. a male member of the RAF of the lowest rank. exclamation exclamation: erk 1. expressing panic or dismay. "Erk! What's that?" Makes sense, I'll take it.
50:00 Am I the only one who just imagined the sergeant bravely issue a challange to the terminator. The terminator, recognising the sergeants bravery, decides to accept the challange. Epic battle music starts playing in the background. Both slowly circling each other, to measure up the opponent. Then the sergeant charges at the terminator screaming at the top of his lungs, arms flailing, and just falls flat on his face xD
When he said Christian Bale was riding the helldrake, I wanted him to say, "Bale adds a taunting bonus against IG, as he abuses their lighting work (lasguns). He shouts, "What the fug are you doing? You and I are done professionally!", and the IG flee in terror."
Fun batrep guys, thanks. Love how the 'Bringers of Despair' get mobbed. Would have been nice to see Abaddon getting forward and leave the cultists at home on babysitting duty!
I enjoyed having this guy in the episode. He seems like a genuinely fun and happy person and the battle reps are just more fun when they have someone like that on. Also is this the first battle rep that we have seen Scions in??
Hate to do this but first rank fire second rank fire only works on lasguns and hot-shot lasguns. All other weapons only fire their regular number of shots. Why do I have a feeling this gets rectified at some point in the video. Oh well if it does, it does. Always enjoy watching Dave do battle in these banter batreps
"This is the imperial guard, they're lucky to have shoes" I fucking lost it
+Jack Bobbins me to
"I hope to kill my own men with scatter". This man understands the IG.
chaos space marine :" commander , a squad of our chaos marines was just destroyed by a some guardsmen riding reindeers!"
chaos commander :" Wuth? O.o"
chaos commander: "imperial genetically enhanced reindeers, i hope sahrgent?"
chaos space marine: "no. normal reindeer mahlord"
*chaso commander shoot in the face of the chaos marine, just because*
I dont play tabletop myself, so before this video i have no idea u can kill chaos spacemarine with laspistol. Who need spacemarines if u can shoot down one with a laspistol? :D
I just imagine those guardsmen tipping over that last Terminator, pulling out entrenching tools, and beating a godamn chaos terminator to death XD
And the rest of the terminators was just laughing.
This English guy is by far the best gamer you can play against. I insist you schedule another match with this fine English gentleman.
+David Mark Yeah he's genius
+David Mark I actually thought this was an awesome Batrep. Would love to see you play again. Your playstyle is fun to watch and your a cheerful, funny guy.
+David Mark Agreed! Sometimes battle reports can be a bit awkward this guy is a legend!
Not all English people are like that
+Benjamin Mapperson agreed
Gotta be honest. I burst out laughing on that rough rider charge. Turns out guardsmen with poles with sticks of TNT tied on the end are actually effective.
For one round of combat only - which is terrible
Catachan NZ Depends on what you hit, you can tear an enemy unit to shreds with them, find the juiciest infantry target you can and smash them to bits.
hutchy1k94 It's funny actually picturing them actually beating the larger and superior chaos marines with the poles and a las pistol.
While it's true the Dynolances only work for 1 round of combat... The entire unit only 11 points per dude... SO WHO CARES!
"I don't do chicken wings" ... Dude.. That's.. That's heresy on a level where even Chaos would attempt to purge you D: !
Indeed
THIS IS THE BEST BATREP EVER! Super excited to see David White in the new 40k Rejects campaign. Great player
One of the coolest games that I´ve ever seen on this Channel. It looked like a real Warhammer scenario and that guy david is a really good sport.
Hope to see more of him against dave.
Apple of Khorne
Orange of Slaanesh
Pineapple of Tzeentch
Kiwi of Nurgle
This is the fruitsalad of Chaos^^
I always pegged Slaanesh as a banana lover.
For no particular reason...
TheCrankyCow but its way more fun to peel an orange. Get to really dig your fingers in
TheCrankyCow He actually loves all fruits and veges if you know what I mean
i hear slaanesh hates cherries seeing as the amount of cherries popped around slaanesh daemons
I'm thinking perhaps durian of Nurgle (hell on the outside, heaven on the inside)... unless you need the kiwi blood in the fruit salad for extra chaosiness.
The guest this episode is hilarious
"Heavy Flamer?" "No, just regular Flamer"
Flamer guy - "I may be regular but im Fabulouuus!*jazz hands*"
"They're punching your Terminator Armour, they've got bleeding knuckles at this point."
"They can just use brass knuckles."
"They don't have brass knuckles. This is the Imperial Gaurd, they're lucky to have shoes."
That exchange made me love this video.
Who cares how he speaks he has a well painted Army, some cool rough riders and enjoys the game. I'm british to boot and I don't see the problem.
Yeah, David is awesome!
I loved his voice
(Finnish here)
It's youtube. If people didn't complain about every single little thing, it would be boring in this comment section... actually no, that would be a nice change.
And technically, just saying here, the game is British. So the pronunciation could be closer to the actual pronunciation.
Griffin Kneesock Speaking as a Brit, unfortunately it isn't the correct pronunciation even here. Ah well, he's still entertaining as hell to watch.
They will always be the Imperial Guard to me.
Judge Lazar were theyre name changed in 7th edicion and why woud they do that
The Jarric
...couldn't copyright "Imperial Guard".
Cody Hanna who owns it now
The Jarric
...history? The term was used by Frederick the Great, Napoleon, and countless other Empires across time.
Cody Hanna
i ment who owns copyright to it
Both Dave and David are awesome, my two favourite armies and hilarious back and forth. Great video!
Second Rank Fire!" plus the rest with Rapid Fire 6) Enjoy rolling eight hundred and fifty dice To Hit.
eh, that's something i dislike about this game, so many freaking dices.
I see your point but it all depends on the attack your doing.
Mmmm... Dice all over mah body.
Throw those 850 lasdice at a dreadnought and all you'll do is make him think it's raining ;)
HQ: Company Command Squad
Troops:

For some reason I heard Ordo Erecticus...
Dave was chuckling at that point, did his inside voices also make him hear that? I wonder.
As an Australian I will agree that, yes, its a jumper not a sweater
The Taurox has a flawless design, the exhust pipe is pointing into the truck, and the passengers can die from friendly fire as they open the door and get shot by the gun to their side.
Assault Armoured Chaos: Charges across the field, gets shot up, gets there, loses combat. #ChaosProblems
"They don't have rough riders they should sell them again"
Boy do I have news for you...
"Wellies?" "Jumpers?"
You can almost hear Dave's mind being blown as he's introduced to this new vocabulary. Best bat rep I've watched in a long time. Nice army as well.
HOW CAN YOU HAVE AN IMPERIAL GUARD ARMY WITHOUT CREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED?
Straken!
good question
Creed is always there, it's just his elaborate plan to make you think he isn't there with 10 titans for when the game ends.
Coz Creed (beside the joke) is rubbish in games this size.
H Williams just as planned
I had a squad of terminator squad and two of them got killed by Tau in mele, by TAU IN F##KING MELE
Your 2+/3+ saves are worth jack if you're rolling snake eyes.
livingmylifeatmach2 I think it happens too often but I am glad it does happen
"Ordo Erecticus"
They're a hard opponent to beat off, I hear. Their soldiers always stand tall and proud.
Only when you see sisters of battle
The Emperor....protects?
Latex is my shield.
Boner police
Around 51:00, the last squad of imperial guard could still attack because the terminators died at the same initiative step.
Really pleasing to see genuine friendly players who respect each other and who can battle amicably. A really good example of how a battle can run and be almost seamless. thank you guys!
It's a shame I haven't spot it yet if it's there, but has david ever returned for another round? This probably remains as one of my more favorite batreps, rivaling that of Mike Grove & the Nerd of the North sessions!
...hey...hey, Dave...hey...
Taurox.
Tau-rox.
Tau Rox.
You.. you monster.
Send the Ordo Erectus after him.
*ordo erectus jumps in and consumes viagra* EMPEROR ERECT US!
Purge the erectic
I'm commenting before I watch the entire thing, because I just want to say, as a 10 year Imperial Guard veteran, I am extremely impressed with this list. It is well rounded, has lots of armor, a heavy hitting unit of elites, a decent pool of warp dice, seeing rough riders is always rare and nice, and the selection of armour is good. 4 russes is damn hard to beat up on. And fully painted, too!
Now, we watch the video
You survived ten years in the imperial guard?!
My hat goes off to you, sir. Most guardsmen don't last ten MINUTES.
(Yes, IK;IJK)
Dangit, David! Don't tell the Canadians about the weekly tea party we have in Britain. You know the Queen will kick us out if we do.
Also I can't get the image of like a hundred guardsmen punching Abaddon, the terror of the Imperium, to death and honestly I don't want to.
Abbadon is modeled incorrectly. Your model has arms.
That was ace. Thanks for sharing
+winters SEO Hey winters SEO im a big fan of your games as well. I love Terminators, If you used them would you have put them elsewere or load them out diff ? I think they should of had a heavy flamer. Would of helped agaist all those guardsmen.
This is actually one of my favourite BatReps. I'd love to see more games with these two. :)
Definitely one of the funniest banter batreps I've seen.
I have only been able to play the video game series Dawn of War so to me what these guys do with these recordings are amazing I love watching this and being able to understand more of the warhammer universe and its really cool seeing all these personal painted units
Excellent use of the rough riders!
I really enjoyed this batrep, unique armies and play style is definitely what I want to see more of! Really like the rough riders paint job too.
I like today's guest. Good foil for Dave, good rapport. Army looks sweet and knows what he's talking about. Would watch again.
What are these?
Wood Elf Guardsmen?
Coming from a Fantasy player. Although I have watched a bunch of 40K games and I've never seen Rough Riders on deer.
30:15 Doing horrible cheese, typical Chaos player behaviour.
Those are straight up Sisters of the Thorn, not even converted.
To be fair, my rough riders are Bretonians with Las pistols instead of shields. It's fun
Out of all the cheese I've seen. Dave runs very little of it. If he wanted to be cheesy, I don't think this guy would have stood a chance with the Helldrake spam Dave could have brought, let alone Daemon ally shenanigans.
***** heldrake is not even good anymore
im loving the banter in this. Also im loving the videos i have been out of the hobby for 14yrs so these videos are helping me learn the rules
this guy is hilarious!!!!!!!!!!
Great game, and great rought riders!! Amazing miniatures!
Lots of fun with your video as always!
are there any other vids with this guest in?
at 44:00ish - the Taurox was moving 12", therefore the melter guys inside are only allowed to do snapshots
Fast vehicle so can still fire normally up to 12"
Pepperoniman776 No he's right, the guardsmen inside snap shoot but the Taurox shoots 2 weapons at full ballistic skill if it moves 12
Catachan NZ I stand corrected. Can you tell me where in the rulebook this is? Will help with future reference.
Pepperoniman776
just check the reference pages. On the german RB it is on page 201. The second table on the page shows thar fast vehicles can shoot 2 weapons at 12", the third table informs about passengers shooting.
Lars L.
2 weapons with normal ballistic skill of course...
"They are lucky to have shoes!"
I was already laughing before. Now I am dying...
Thank you Dave so much for bringing me more WH40k in my life. I've missed your videos.
Great BatRap, great Banter, close game and both the armies I like the most. I'm happy :)
Where in "Sci-on" do you get "Sky-on"?
that look he makes at 57:16 is just perfect
guardsman, guardsman everywhere
That is one lady slaying sweater. Can I get an amen?!
Amennnn!!!
Amen bruva
Best Batrep on the entire channel.
My favorite match in awhile. Good stuff. Bring the Christmas sweater guy back for more videos.
Those terminators disembarking near the objective was pretty epic.
Those Rough Riders are a sinkhole of points.
Still nice to see them used!
I'm surprised they even made it into the 7th edition codex, considering GW's new "no kit, no rules" mentality.
if you use rough riders correctly they can be extremely effective, admittedly they have a rough life expectancy of one use in combat, but provided they get the charge they will make a mess of basically any marine unit not in terminator armour they come into contact with
They cost less than the Chaos space marine unit that they annihilated...
Aaron Richards I'm no IG player, but Rough Riders seem pretty good. The two things that get in their way are the lack of new models and the fect that they compete with Hellhounds and Sentinels.
I wish you guys did a Death Korps of Krieg BatRap
They say when the Emperor sneezes, it means another system lost to heretics.
As a Guard player myself it's worth pointing out that Orders should be done at the beginning of the shooting phase. This doesn't seem like much of a big deal but it does affect the order in which you can say 'pop transports' and then mince the contents.

Exelent batrep! The perfect apponent to Dave. Very entertaining.
closest game so far om mwg, funniest video ive seen in a while
The curse of minion rank mobs killing badasses lives on in this game

I love the IG dude. His trash talk is too good, lol.

Ah, so it's an order - wasn't too sure about that since I'm not too familiar with guard/Astra Militarum.
All good

This is the batrep that convinced me to start playing Warhammer 40k.
Stargate picture in the background, right on!
dave keeps forgetting his table he needs to roll every time his champion kills a charator
Wheres the boon table?
This was awesome to watch. Great playing, very friendly jabbing at each other and terrific terrain. I want to get started with this hobby in the next few months with a Grey Knight army. Watching good games like this makes me even more excited to jump in.
Did Dave forget to roll for mutation after winning a challenge?
Yes, again.
Hey! Where can i get that terrain mat!?? Looks real!
I absolutely loved watching this!! So awesome
Loving the crack from this guest. You need to get him back!
rough riders should be cadians on dirt bikes
Omg yes that would be hilarious. They could also be hells angels
The guy calling scion (sʌɪən) 'skyon' (skʌɪɒ) erked me to no end.
This guy spelling irked as "erked" irked me to no end.
Joost Zaal erk

exclamation: erk
1.

"Erk! What's that?"
Makes sense, I'll take it.
Michael Miller ....random aggression to other wise jocular tones....why not?

salamut2202 Erk is a noun not a verb. Irk is a verb

Its a jumper! Also wouldn't the invisible guardsmen get to pile in?
Good battle, great opponent, very nice to see some new IG roll around. Pay no mind to the haters, MWG crew and guest, this was a fun batrep as always.
Also is this the first battle rep that we have seen Scions in??
love your intro, its like a ufc wresling match GO GUARD WOOOO!! YEEEEEEAAH!
27:07 why are his rough riders I5, not 3? Is it coz they're elves? :D
+Rafael Bogdan The lances give the rough riders plus 2 initiative on the charge.
You get to re-roll the command with the Vox, the 12 only counts if it stands.. or you re- roll and get the same result
He ate that apple to the khorne
Did the Chaos champion forget his chaos rewards for killing the sergent ?
Watching this whilst putting together two Basilisk, how curious a coincidence.
