This video popped up in my recommended, and it was actually the first Warhammer batrep I’ve ever watched (2016). I can remember thinking that this game just looks epic! I just want to thank Miniwargaming for getting me into the Warhammer hobby, because I have made some life long friends through it and I have managed to amass a massive pile of unpainted Minis!
I'm really glad you guys both kinda positioned your big assault squads to fight each other. It's not the best decision tactically, but it makes for a really cool and fluffy battle.
Kamikaze GingerCat Yes, the Deathstrike one. I'm glad you remember it. ^^ I made some jokes for the 40k community. That one a facebook page ask me to publish it on their own, so it has my name on it. I usually don't care, i made them for fun. You may have seen the "What rhymes with Eldar? Rape" one, which became pretty popular.
The fourth loyalist legion that was related to Istvaan 5 "counterattack" was the Imperial Fist redemption fleet that never made it with a third of Dorn's legion that had to be taken over by Alexander Pollux.
Matt, Angron did not fight Vulkan on Istvaan V as far as we know. The World Eaters and their Primarch were going after the Raven guard while it was the Iron Warriors who blew appart the main part of the Salamanders. It does make some sense: why would the close combat fanatics that the WE are fight flame loving guys like the Salamanders who would roast them in close combat? Angrons fight against the Ravenguard, who specialised in hit and run tactics but could not go up against the WE in Close Combat over a longer period of time, does make sense in a way :-) Still love the bat rap. 30k is such a good new thing to watch :-)
Salamanders did get stuck in with the World Eaters, Angron and Vulkan even laid eyes on each other but then someone dropped a nuke in between them. Then the Salamanders pulled back to get betrayed
which book is that? I could not find such a scene in Vulkan lives, Deliverance Lost or any other HH book. if it is in Massaker then I appologize cause I have not read that one yet, simply because I don't own it.
kay well could be that I did not remember the line. I will check with a friend who has the Massaker book. It actually would have been quite the fight. When you see how Vulkan deals with Curze in "Vulkan lives" and "The Unremembered Empire" you realy start to like the guy :-) He drives Curze, who allready is insane, even more insane :-D
+Con S Even the smallest of the primarchs towered over space marines. Alpharius/Omegon were slightly smaller compared to the other primarchs, but their astartes were taller than other legions (this helped them blend in to keep their anonymity). GW is too fucking lazy to make true scale models even though we pay through the fucking nose for them. The primarch models are slightly larger, but when you take away the large base the difference is marginal at best. It's kind of sad to see some really beautiful models not even have true scaling. Like when my generic guardsmen are the same size as space marines.
I'd just like to say you can't autopass a 1" charge. The rules say you must stay more than one inch away from enemy models unless charging. So in the movement phase the Firedrakes had to stay MORE than 1" away from the Butchers. So a roll of double "ones" means you failed your charge because you are further than one inch away from them.
+jeremy draper Actually kind of worth it to see in my opinion. Gets more in depth on what's being fielded. But I just like hearing about that kind of stuff, so that's just me.
+Legionnaire159 that's the thing I like when they go into detail on their armies but I'm just not going to watch a separate vid to do it, I'd prefer it if the did that on the same vid
+jeremy draper My thoughta exactly, i like it when the armies get explained a bit more, but it should be done in around 5, max 10 minutes. Wanna get to the game man ;)
+jeremy draper That's the point then. We put it into a separate video so those that don't want to watch it don't have to, thus shortening the actual battle report.
Hey Matt or anyone else what book book do you find the space marines legions rule that your using for 30 K. What Horus Heresy book would it be, thank you.
Praetor and the Firedrakes: name of the minwargaming band. The Praetor Strikes Back: name of the next miniwargaming movie, On a somewhat less silly note, it's great to finally see a primarch on the field!
Something that want to comment (don't know if they FAQed it, though) but the rulebook says that, should the unit fall to less than 25% of its size from the turn's beginning they can only avoid running on a double 1. I never see you doing that, did they FAQ it?
Did Vulkan use his "It will not die" rule and his "Blood of Fire" rule, maybe I missed something but I think that he is more difficult to get killed than that.
Hey Matthew just wanted to suggest a combo of Vulkan, Firedrakes and a Primus Medicae in terminator armour with shield. 2+ armour save, 3+ inv and a 5+ feel no pain this makes them tougher than GK paladins!!
19:05 your Art Armor could have saved him! do it separately. 21:15 you can't charge a different unit than the one you fired at, even if it is a unit that was forced to disembark from your previous target.
great battle report, primarchs have the master of the legion rule so why would they have not have a warlord trait plus fulgrim can choose his if it comes from the strategic traits chart?? I really love these HH battle report keep it up
Is there a special rule for the Red Butchers that says that anyone hitting them in close combat always hits on 3s regardless of WS?? I think this is due to them being one skull short of a skull throne.
+Spacefrisian They used to be, but not anymore. Nowadays a weapon pretty much specifically needs the pinning usr, it's not included in other rules anymore (such as sniper and barrage used to).
You bring a World-Eater's army, but not a World-Eater's Primarch; that's Angron Heresy!?! :D Angron should have taken to the field, spilt some blood and split some skulls >XD
You guys shiuld have done Salamanders vs Deathguard to be more accurate to the fluff of the horus heresy, but its ok though it was still a badass Batrep.
Damn, Angron vs Vulkan. My least favorite Traitor and my favorite Loyalist. Technically Vulkan should win in a 1v1 vs him, Math wise. Will pay for Vault to watch this
not always, for leadership tests you want double ones, for charges double ones dont always fail provided you are in range, ones only auto fail for to hit,to wound and saves
Srfriqui It will not die is only rolled at the end of your own turn, so he only got to roll once - he started loosing wounds on the enemy turn, rolled an unsuccessful IWND on his own turn and then lost his remaining wounds on the next enemy turn. I believe everything was done correctly.

I actually really love the pre game shows, it helps to enjoy the Battle reports a bit more, especially if you're unfamiliar with the armies involved.
39ish minutes in I totally just had this great vision of Vulcan laying down a Sauron style smack down on those poor bastards sending them flying
I'm really glad you guys both kinda positioned your big assault squads to fight each other. It's not the best decision tactically, but it makes for a really cool and fluffy battle.
"Consolidation, give me a good one!"
Roll a 1
"Ah, c'mon!"
Well, technically that's what you asked for. A one.
+Chris Nihilus I seem to remember a meme being 'inspired by Chris Nihilus' .....
Kamikaze GingerCat Yes, the Deathstrike one.
I'm glad you remember it. ^^
I made some jokes for the 40k community. That one a facebook page ask me to publish it on their own, so it has my name on it. I usually don't care, i made them for fun.
You may have seen the "What rhymes with Eldar? Rape" one, which became pretty popular.
Practically a celebrity Chris XD
Love the smoke effects :) Always enjoyed watching the landscape and colour schemes of the units in Warhammer.
Fantastic looking battlefield, as usual! I'm going to be honest and say I'm envious of anyone who gets to play on an awesome looking board like this!
The fourth loyalist legion that was related to Istvaan 5 "counterattack" was the Imperial Fist redemption fleet that never made it with a third of Dorn's legion that had to be taken over by Alexander Pollux.
Matt, it's time to dust off those Salamanders!
Ha! That's me a year ago. Seriously though, 30k... keep up the good works
Good game, good video, Lets see some Imperial Fists if you still have the ones Leland was getting! They are my favorite legion/chapter!
+anthony sauls Where is Leland btw?
Remus Ventanus matt said that he is no longer working for miniwargaming.
You always hit the red butchers on 3 s because they do not care for self defence
I'm comming a few years late and the pre game show is not available anymore I'm affraid :(
Matt, Angron did not fight Vulkan on Istvaan V as far as we know. Might be in that one or the wiki lied to me. IDK Angron only yelled at Vulkan so doesn't really matter
kay well could be that I did not remember the line. I will check with a friend who has the Massaker book. It actually would have been quite the fight. When you see how Vulkan deals with Curze in "Vulkan lives" and "The Unremembered Empire" you realy start to like the guy :-) He drives Curze, who allready is insane, even more insane :-D
+Marius Lorson last i checked it was curzes' torturing that drove vulkan insane
Beautifully painted armies :)
Is a primarch to scale? Is he that much bigger than a spacemarine? Thank you.
they come on a decorative base that makes them appear taller
+Con S Yup, they were huge!
but yeah they're bigger
Aside from alpharius. He wasn't much bigger
+Con S Even the smallest of the primarchs towered over space marines. Alpharius/Omegon were slightly smaller compared to the other primarchs, but their astartes were taller than other legions (this helped them blend in to keep their anonymity). Am I bad to be amused that the terminators kept on rolling 1s for consolidation? XD
I like it when you guys talk about your armies but I'm not going to watch a separate 20 min Ep
+jeremy draper Actually kind of worth it to see in my opinion. Gets more in depth on what's being fielded.
But I just like hearing about that kind of stuff, so that's just me.

+miniwargaming what about the people that don't want to watch a separate video just to hear want you guys say about the armies like me
VULKAN LIVES!!!!
Quick question. Where did Matt get the thunderhammer/stormshield for the praetor? I can't find the bits anywhere on forgeworld.
32:23 Marine: Next time, maybe I should think again about this "Lets betrey Salamanders" idea...
I can't believe how good this table looks.
Why you do not roll FNP and It Will Not Die on Vulkan?! He has it with reroll!
Im not sure, but I think you forgot about It will not die rule for Vulkan
Love ur shows
wow the paint jobs on both armies are just freaking awesome! Great batrep
Where did you get that sweat salamanders shirt?
where are those steel I- Beams from ?
Nicely painted World Eaters!
I miss this intro
Great battle guys! sweet stuff
I have played salamanders for a while now and I shed a single tear when Vulkan was taken down.
I just want to know where I can get that evolution to space marine shirt
doesnt the sicarian Venator have to take a test for overloading if it fails to penetrate its target?
Vulkan is such a beast, I cannot wait until my Wolves get Leman Russ!
Is Matt really that tall or is the other guy really that short?
Weren't the Imperial Fists involved somehow?
The tactical squad shouldn't have fired over watch against the jet bikes as they used fury of the legion
does Vulcan have it will not die? i feel like forge world missed the point if he doesnt
+Ronald Lanzas he does its part of the primarch rule and i think he has rerrol on it too since VULKAB LIVES!!!
+Torapu oh OK good. wait did Matt ever roll those?
+Ronald Lanzas yes he did
+dah0heavy man I completely missed it my bad
jeezus . what glory, oh my.
Hey Matt or anyone else what book book do you find the space marines legions rule that your using for 30 K. What Horus Heresy book would it be, thank you.
Loyal Luna Wolves FTW!!!!!!!!!
+AJ_Gaming
Leman Russ was an asshole!
+Crazmuss Horus was primarch of the Luna Wolves, Leman Russ was primarch of the space wolves
AJ_Gaming oh snap :)
+Crazmuss But still your not wrong.
did matt forget about it will not die on Vulcan?
+KevlarKnight
No, he rolled it (and re-rolled it due to the primarch rule) but failed it.
there was 3 loyalists, iron hands, raven guard, salamanders. The 4 traitor legions were word bearers, night lords, iron warriors and the alpha legion
egor0909 Don't forget Death Guard, World eaters, emperors children and sons of horus for the traitors.
wy Mat dont do fnp and it will not dai rols by Vulkan???
Those thunder hammers look very nice :)
What paints did you use?
Content not found on preshow.
When vehicles get blown up do they no longer leave a crater?
they do
I Love hearing about the Armys (especially because i am not familiar with 40K)
Those fire drakes, they're feeling slow and purposeful...
Praetor and the Firedrakes: name of the minwargaming band.
The Praetor Strikes Back: name of the next miniwargaming movie,
On a somewhat less silly note, it's great to finally see a primarch on the field!
Matt you should try melta bombs since they ignore armored ceremite ;)
Something that want to comment (don't know if they FAQed it, though) but the rulebook says that, should the unit fall to less than 25% of its size from the turn's beginning they can only avoid running on a double 1. I never see you doing that, did they FAQ it?
completely forgot about that one.
Any way you can go back to the old subtitle? We work so you can play.
+Keelan Croke We play and call it work seems to make more sense though.
You should have resolved the rhinos separately cause when they blow up they would have hit the guys from the other one, or am I interpreting it wrong
The World Eaters font looks like it is blushing
Did Vulkan use his "It will not die" rule and his "Blood of Fire" rule, maybe I missed something but I think that he is more difficult to get killed than that.
+Corax92
He used (and re-rolled) It will not die, but failed the roll.
matt armoured ceramite does not take away armourbane from melta bombs only all melta shotting weapons
this is because melta bombs has armourbane and not melta becausce armoured ceramite does only ignore melta special rule
It's a good thing Matt forgot red butchers get hit on 3+, otherwise the terminators would have gotten shot at by everything else.
you forgot to role it will not die for Vulkan several times
Roll , not role :p
Doesn't the price of failure make all your scoring units stop being scoring if the Primarch dies?
thats only in the primarchs chosen rite of war, price of failure is only for superheavies and lords of war
You know Valken can literally never die?
VULKAN LIVES
Hey Matt, just a quick note. An onslaught detachment can never seize the initiative.
+Joshua S. Matthews
Not true. Read the Onslaught rules again...
+Terry R thanks for pointing that out, I misread it a while back, damn could have changed my games in the past.
Hey Matthew just wanted to suggest a combo of Vulkan, Firedrakes and a Primus Medicae in terminator armour with shield. 2+ armour save, 3+ inv and a 5+ feel no pain this makes them tougher than GK paladins!!
and if you really want no friends also include a chaplain
great battle :)
Jesus Christ, that guy had so much luck with his dice.
19:05 your Art Armor could have saved him! do it separately.
21:15 you can't charge a different unit than the one you fired at, even if it is a unit that was forced to disembark from your previous target.
you can charge the occupents of the tank you shot at
Don't you always hit butcher's on 3+? :O
great battle report, primarchs have the master of the legion rule so why would they have not have a warlord trait plus fulgrim can choose his if it comes from the strategic traits chart?? I really love these HH battle report keep it up
they do have wrlord traits, most just dont get to roll for them, sire of the legion is a warlord trait
Can you charge after your vehicle exploded? Seems weird...
Yes you can as long you make your pinning test put I think they where fearless so they where all like who needs a tank we got hammers charge!
+TheSwedishTroll If it was an assault vehicle, yes. If it was a non-assault vehicle, then no.
The Font's for the turns though lol
Because of the red butchers reckless rule or whatever it's called you always hit red butchers on 3's in close combat.
Is there a special rule for the Red Butchers that says that anyone hitting them in close combat always hits on 3s regardless of WS?? I think this is due to them being one skull short of a skull throne.
Elliot Brown That is a rule, yes
That Mulan reference, tasty.
Arent sniper weapons pinning or something?
+Spacefrisian
They used to be, but not anymore. Nowadays a weapon pretty much specifically needs the pinning usr, it's not included in other rules anymore (such as sniper and barrage used to).
Love the board and the game! But from what Ive seen people enjoyed seeing the army summary at the start? Might be wrong that's just an observation
Forgot that spartan had shred on that blast!
Finally, some World Eaterssssssssss!
wait, so the waorld eaters are pre-heresy (In this episode?)
VideoGameHelp this is during Horus heresy so yeah
If we don't want to watch army list we can just fast forward past it
You bring a World-Eater's army, but not a World-Eater's Primarch; that's Angron Heresy!?! :D Angron should have taken to the field, spilt some blood and split some skulls >XD
20 minutes in
(lets agree to not take the landraider sized artilary next game)
Never send tour praetor against a primarch death star. Its a death sentence.
Great
@Ausphexx One It is intense, looks awesome.
Not worried about dangerous terrain or it seems the concepts of impassible terrain and pathing either for that spartan....
no fury of the legion after getting out of the rhino!
Drakes were hitting butchers on 4+ instead 3+ as per butchers' special rule.
nice red green reference lol now i know ur canadian
You guys shiuld have done Salamanders vs Deathguard to be more accurate to the fluff of the horus heresy, but its ok though it was still a badass Batrep.
Red butchers are always hit on a 3+
No, they just get hit on 3s due to ravening mad men, nothing says they hit anything else on a 3+
i totally thought you had to pay for anything that wasnt on the youtube channel thanks for the clarification
It's unlisted RUclips clip :)
Damn, Angron vs Vulkan. My least favorite Traitor and my favorite Loyalist. Technically Vulkan should win in a 1v1 vs him, Math wise. Will pay for Vault to watch this
Off the charge, Angron would beat Vulkan mathematically. Otherwise, it’s very close.
So, this will sound stupid, but who won?
Loyalist world eaters FTW!
3 loyalists, 4 traitors
You always hit the red butcherers on a 3+ on melee thats in their rules.
I would really like to see games with the Primarchs. 2500 Pts with them coming in no cost. Alpha Legion VS Salamanders would also be nice.
3 Loyalists at Isstvan IV. the ones you said
I thought a double 1 was allways a fail? this is a question btw
not always, for leadership tests you want double ones, for charges double ones dont always fail provided you are in range, ones only auto fail for to hit,to wound and saves
You forgot about Vulkan's rerollable It will not die.
+Srfriqui
He actually did roll that, but it failed (both the roll and the re-roll).
no, the previous round, i think je forgot that one.
Srfriqui
It will not die is only rolled at the end of your own turn, so he only got to roll once - he started loosing wounds on the enemy turn, rolled an unsuccessful IWND on his own turn and then lost his remaining wounds on the next enemy turn. I believe everything was done correctly.
didn't he suffer another wound on the prior set of turns?
