To me, Seth Littrell totally makes sense, with Joe Jon Finley getting valuable experience. I think this was part of the plan from the beginning. When BV came in, he hired a big group of coaches and analysts. It's my belief that he knew Jeff Lebby was going to be short term, and these other hires were replacements in waiting for departing coaches as time goes on... This allows for maximum continuity within the program. I am very pleased with the move. Only time will tell how well everything works out with this move, but that would be true of any replacement for Jeff Lebby.

I believe BV obviously knows far more about football than any OU fan out there. There is always going to be couch coaches that disagree with any hire or play call. With that said I appreciate you as former players in the media to help us understand the hiring process as you did in this video as well as the recruiting, play calling, etc... Unfortunately we all have to hear those that think they know more than everyone else. In BV we trust!! Keep up the great work Gabe & Teddy!!

Leach was the first OC for Stoops. Leach left after one year and Mangino, who was on the staff, became OC. Result the next year? National Championship. BV was an assistant on that staff and saw what can happen when you promote someone from within who is familiar with the playbook, the players, etc. Promoting Mangino wasn't exciting or flashy but it made sense. Hopefully this move will be successful as well.

I have always loved the smash-mouth style football. Run and own the other team hitting them in the mouth over and over again. Eventually, that other team will break but does OU have the OL to do this? I loved what I saw out of Sawchuck but I want to see more. I think that kid is special and could be an absolute stud by the end.

Another Perfect Example of why THE OKLAHOMA BREAKDOWN with Gabe-raham & Big Teddy-Broosevelt!!! Are the one and only source for all the (pardon my brown-nose) absolute FACTS on OU Football!! The OU fans that call themselves College Football fans yet turn the channel soon as the Sooners are done! While we appreciate how the Lord has blessed you with the understanding that Oklahoma Football “invented it” and by “It” I mean CHAMPIONS!!! Don’t wrongfully label yourself a fan of college football because as the Bros had mentioned the only reason you’d be upset with the hiring of Littrell and Joe John is because when you were googling “best offensive coordinator for OU 2024” these 2 weren’t mentioned! Enough with this talk about Brendan Ludwig and Will Stein

The large majority of the fan base are thrilled about these hires.. BV and Joe C knew this was coming. Getting Seth Littrell hired as an analyst last year was brilliant. He got to know the offense, developed relationships with the players and coaches and was ready to roll when Lebby moved on either this year or next< This is MUCH better than bringing in a new guy with different terminology, maybe wanting to bring in his own guys....We can't afford the learning curve with SEC looming in September. Lazy hire? Huh. I actually think it works well. I love keeping guys that already have chemistry with the players. In this day and age with college football being 24/7, 365 days a year, having all those responsibilities shared allows these guys to have a life. And I love the idea that we are giving our own a chance at the next level. OU has always gambled on talent and moving them up. BV. Stoops. Riley. When you can recognize talent and give people the opportunity to excel with more, this is the greatest asset we have. Talent recognition!! Good job Coach Venables!! Congratulations Littrell and Joe Jon Finley (unable to say his name abbreviated - too much fun)!!! Let's keep the band together!!

For me it’s not about statistics. I’m happy that they hired within because they know what went right and went wrong. I think his history as a fullback will lead him to run more running plays, and will help with clock management. I am glad that we won’t be focused on tempo, but the actual skill level of the players. Loyalty - The previous HC who also called plays (his name shall not be spoken or written) wasn't loyal to OU; Lebby has a connection to OU but probably was looking at this as a chance to get a head coaching job (i.e., he was using OU for his own benefit). I THINK these guys are and will be loyal to OU and aren't planning to leave in the near future.

I think the cynics on this are simply the kind of people who were always going to be a cynic.
Lebby was taking OC interviews last year (Bama), so it's not a surprise that he left for whatever job. Also, your coordinators landing power 5 HC jobs is an indicator of success. BV brought in Littrell literally in preparation for this, so the "hiring within" concern some have aren't realizing that it's actually an external hire that was done a year ago in preparation for the inevitable. It turns out, Brent is playing chess while you're playing checkers.
About the concerns of "who is in charge" or "who will be calling plays." Do people not realize that, while Lebby was the OC, Bill B was the Co-OC the last two years? The titles are frequently a formality, and I am 100% positive that we will have a designated play-caller. You're a fool if you think it'll be a turn-taking approach.
For those who wanted a big name with the external hire - Look at a prime example of success while handling turnover in Nick Saban. He rarely makes the big splashy hire, and routinely would rehab coaches that didn't have proven success at their most recent jobs. Nobody questions his process, but people (fans and analysts) have always asked how losing certain coordinators would impact them from year to year. That brings me to another point.
You have continuity at stake. This was discussed at length in this episode. You could easily lose Bedenbaugh and/or Murray or others (Finley) on staff if you hire externally. That's a ripple effect that could push key players out, like Arnold, and next years' commits, particularly Mitchell, Hawkins, and Tatum. In retaining and promoting the current staff, you've also likely promoted Emmett Jones who you absolutely need to retain in what he has done for both recruiting and development with the WRs. He may even be the next OC when this cycle continues. Again, chess while others are into the checkers thing.
And finally, for those who still have doubts. That's okay. Many of us remember what was said when OU lost Riley and what was said about Lebby when he came in. He was doubted. His success at UCF and Ole Miss were routinely attributed to Heupel and Kiffin, respectively. OU has the Jimmy and the Joes on offense. That's what has generally been consistent over the years, and from a talent standpoint we will have more on hand moving forward than we have the past couple years. If you have the talent and you have the culture, the rest tends to take care of itself.
    Boomer.

Yes I got into an interchange with a fan on another podcast that wanted Brennen Marion and the Go Go offense. I said no and he is too inexperienced and he has been at a different place every year from 2011, except was 2 years at Howard. 3 of those years are as a high school vouch and 1 year as an analyst. He needs to show stability and success first and I would want to know why an every year new place
