Here's what everyone is missing. This is not meant to be a situation comedy, but rather, a psychological horror story focused about the deconstruction of the self. The world Norm lives in is meant to be metaphor for ego death and man's search for meaning. Hear me out:
As we can see, Norm's world is completely dominated by conflicts rooted in gender and sexuality. Norm is constantly confronted with gender, against his will. Even his friend's son is unexpectantly transitioning. Everyone is trans and non binary. Everything in his life is about gender. Norm is baffled. Unlike the rest of us, who view gender as merely one facet of our lives, gender problems completely envelope Norm's life. Like a nightmare, gender has chased Norm down and cornered him. It haunts his thoughts every moment, it intrudes into every corner of his home, and it seriously threatens to shatter his self identity as a Normal Guy who likes Normal Things.
The world has sought to drive Norm mad by undoing one of the simple, self-evident truths Norm has believed his whole life: that gender is binary, and permanent. The gender binary is the star at the center of Norm's psychic solar system, evidenced by the one area of Norm's life which appears to have given him joy, which is his job at the trophy shop. It's only natural Norm has gravitated to sports, and clung to it as a shipwrecked sailor holds fast to a life raft, as professional athletics is world where divisions in gender are enforced, and unquestioned. It is a world where men are celebrated for their masculinity, and women are peripheral, participating either through tertiary leagues that serve as pale imitations emulating men's leagues, or maybe as cheerleaders.
So, by observing Norm's life, we can see Norm's life has been destroyed by gender prior to the pilot. His life is in tatters. He is on probation, under constant surveillance, and unable to leave his home. His job has been taken from him, and now he has a violent crime on his record. His family constellation hangs by a thread, quivering, ready to collapse at any moment.
These are all merely environmental losses, however, external to Norm's mind.
But now, gender threatens to obliterate Norm's self identity, and shatter his psyche. It invades his home, and pervades every area of the place Norm considers his refuge. Because of gender, Norm cannot find a moment's peace, even at home with his family. He is constantly at war. With each passing second, Norm is weakened by the withering attacks he endures, and the constant insults to his basic dignity.
He is caught in the teeth of the criminal justice system, an organ of the state so absurd that it is ruled by a triumvirate which includes a man with a dog's head. Their attention now turns to breaking Norm's will. They spend their days working on the problem of Norm's sanity. Norm knows something is not right, but he is only vaguely aware of the powerful forces which have been mobilized against him, unable to comprehend the vast cruelty of the conspiracy against him. While this ignorance initially made Norm resilient, it now leaves him totally exposed. The irony of this is made all the more palpable for the the audience when we see Chazz communicate with the triumvirate. We know the conspiracy, but Norm does not.
Norm's enemies have total authority over Norm. Norm has no choice but to yield to their demands, even though one of them is a dog. Norm is powerless not only to escape their abuses, but powerless to even cry out in pain, to make his pain heard, known to others. Norm's own family barely understands what his problem is, and they view his suffering as an annoyance. The government has robbed Norm of this basic human right, to simply cry out in agony.
Thus, Norm seeks to drink, he seeks to escape into the world of sports, and he seeks to share his pain with his closest friend. In sum, Norm seeks to numb the psychic and spiritual pain he endures every second. While Norm's sanity has survived the madness of the world outside his door, now that it has invaded his home, we know it is only a matter of time before he is broken. Like a crowbar, the woke conspiracy has used gender to pry open Norm's mind. Having found entry, it now seeks to drive him to madness.
Norm's feeble attempts to defend his own sanity serve only to make things worse. Norm cannot face the threat which Chazz and his non binary dog represent, which is that the foundations of Norm's self identity are built of sand. Norm knows the stakes, but cannot conceive of the game. With his soul wilting under these constant hammer blows, Norm's desperation turns to anger, which erupts in the form of violent outbursts that land him on probation. He lashes out like a wild animal in a cage.
So this is all basically a good representation of what an average Daily Caller reader goes through on a daily basis.

You know what sucks? This could have been really clever and funny. An old man who misses the days of not needing to filter himself is a great idea. The show could have made light of modern-day culture without completely disrespecting it. They could have just done what South Park does and make JOKES about the topic. The main character is a Proto-peter Griffin, who is actually intelligent, but he’s very old, and doesn’t understand the modern day. Also, there was a trans in it! The Proto-Peter Griffin did not like it, and he was shown to be in the wrong, while the wife was fine with it, she was shown to be in the right, although she’s also old, so she doesn’t really understand.
