  • In this video, we install our Kompact VR03 Blow-Off Valve to a Mercedes-Benz A45, CLA45 or GLA45 AMG. Unlike most turbocharged cars, these AMG models do not have a factory-fitted bypass valve. As a result, they suffer from considerable compressor surge - an issue rectified by Turbosmart's Kompact VR08.

So im confused haha. But as u said jnow 2014-2015 have a crossover. So maybe mine is the older version that same with the 2014. Thanks bro

    Does this fit the gla 250 2.0 turbo 4matic? The adapter that I put on it to hear the psss sound it only sounds when I’m stepping on it and i feel like this adaptors don’t give it the full sound as a real blow off valve does

    The VR03 BOV doesn’t give off the vent to atmosphere sound am I right ?

    • @TurbosmartHQ

      We have two versions of each Kompact EM. The Plumb Back offers 100% recirculation which means silent operation. The Dual Port partially vents to atmosphere which will give you a blow off noise.

    Great tutorial, but I find it quite strange why AMG never fitted a BPV from factory, considering the amount of engineering that went into the engine I find it odd.

      Kinda late here but i guess they dont add it is because they kinda want to sell a legit car which wouldn‘t really fit with added blow off engine sounds, though i would surely add that BOV to my car

    Does it only protect the turbo or any other benefit? does it help the turbo spools better?

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  4 года назад

      A Bypass or Blow Off valve's main purpose is to protect the turbocharger from compressor surge. In some instances a better sealing valve can allow for a better spool up.

    Do you know where I can find a "standard blanking plate" for the CLA45? I currently have a Weistec BOV installed and I believe it is failing.

      Well I just took it off a few days ago and I was thinking it might have been dirty or something else obvious but it appears to still be intact. I'm just trying to locate the reason for me not being able to make proper boost right now. I guess the next step is the wastegate but I have a feeling that's also working correctly. I have a feeling that it's something electronic which is going to be a nightmare trying to track.

      @@CJ3000 take it to your local mechanic, it might be a simple fix.

  • @Roddy_Zeh

    Why wouldn't they (Mercedes-AMG) install a bypass valve to prevent this issue? I suppose this lack of a BOV could potentially damage the turbocharger in the long run?

    • @TurbosmartHQ
      @TurbosmartHQ  5 лет назад +3

      We are not quite sure why the OE decided not to utilise a BOV, it can certainly cause issues and it is perhaps the reason why this line of turbochargers are known for failures, the facelift version was introduced with an electronic BOV, which we also have a solution for.

    • @Roddy_Zeh
      @Roddy_Zeh 5 лет назад

      @@TurbosmartHQ I even thought they could perhaps provide the turbo with a better response, preventing lag after gear changes, for example. But still...not only the car has a double-clutch gearbox that shifts too fast for the engine to lose boost between gear changes but I also don't know if that would be the case. :(

      In Germany a BOV is not Streetlegal. The compresed air is contaminated by oil so it's not okay to let it in the free air without cleaning....
      You can laugh ... it's okay.....

    • @Roddy_Zeh
      @Roddy_Zeh 5 лет назад +1

      @@CRAZYM4X15 I'm not laughing. They could always use a BOV that releases the air back into the intake manifold, that's what those silent BOV's do. I have trouble to imagine the Germans utilizing a method that could cause serious damage to the engine in the long run just for the sake of the environment.
      Not to mention, air with oil...wouldn't that mean a bad oil seal, as this is not supposed to happen?
