But can't find an easy reliable price guide for them. Anyway first time seeing your channel, appreciate the business like vibe. Great to not see a bunch of overblown reactions for a change 😏 👍
Interesting story about Plank - like Honus Wagner, Plank was anti-tobacco. So the T206 of him is extremely rare. He was a great pitcher from the Christy Mathewson era - pitched for Philadelphia A's teams that went to the World Series 5 times. Check out his stats if you don't know about him - 326 wins against 194 losses, an unheard-of career 2.35 ERA.

@@collectorinvestordealer Wow! That is unbelievable! Personally if it came down to a side by side choice, I like Beckett alot more. Not sure their price but I wouldn't mind tossing in a few dollars extra just to have that choice.
Morning Chris, thanks for explaining your process of purchasing a collection from one of us. Next time can you please explain how you knew those 3 small, vintage cards were fakes? That would help us all when we buy at shows in the future. Thank you so much.
If you have a Hobby Lobby nearby they sell a 10 power lighted loupe for about $10. Buy a couple cheap re-prints and commons from vintage sets and compare them. The easiest way to spot a fake of a vintage card is to look at the part of the card that should be the color of the card stock (a part of the card that wasn't printed on). The card back is usually a good place to find these. On a genuine card you'll see the fibers of the card stock in these areas, no ink, just bare paper. On a fake, this part is usually printed and you'll see a dot matrix type print pattern in these areas. Of course, there are some better fakes out there, but through this method you'll eliminate probably better than 90% of fakes.
Its hard to define as its sort of a matter of experience. Ive seen/held a lot of those cards over the years and its obvious to me, but there isnt a specific reason. Its like a combination of the colors, pixelation, fell of the card stock, etc.
My bold prediction: You will be able to grade a card with PSA for $15 in 2022. The only reason cheaper grading levels were removed was to get through their backlog.
I've been looking to sell my collection for a little while now. I've got a lot baseball, basketball, and football junk wax era inserts but also a couple Pippen rookies, Griffey's, Jordan baseball, a handful of '48 and '49 Bowman baseball, etc. I'll take a fair deal in a heart beat.
Who really knows how this hobby will turn out in a few years? Though when inflation is high, one of the assets investors look for are those that pay dividends. History have shown that during inflationary times, people have less discretionary funds.
Idk anyone sells to dealers lol. It's like pawning something at the pawn shop. Take in a 5800$ Rolex and they'll give ya 500$ for it then sell it for 6k.
These are my absolute favorite video's you upload. Watching go through collections and how you break them down is so educational. Fantastic and keep them coming.
Thank you for doing this, Chris. Its nice to see what an honest dealer pays for this kind of stuff and why he/she pays it. I have a bunch of common Bowman chrome autos (some refractors) and some common football RPAs from 2013-2019, many with low serial #'s. The guy at my LCS offered me 5 cents per card. That seemed extremely low so I walked away. I'm glad I did.
Cool video, so I realize you quote cards by category base, inserts, graded etc. but do you add for top loaders too or do you send those back? Top loaders are kinda pricey now a days. Anyhow thanks for the content & keep the vids coming👍
That's awesome I just sold my house and had to move all my collectables with me that I have not done nothing with for years thinking about saying it off for my new hobby crypto lol. I need to put some thought on how would be the best for the biggest bang for all . Where are you located at If you don't mind.
Great hit Chris. I do this all the time at yard sells. Go thru them till I see one that will pay for the price they want then take them all. Just found 2 Mark Jackson 90 hoops (Menendez,) in great shape. Keep these videos coming , we love em.
I saw some Grant Hills in there, I would be interested in a Grant Hill lot, he was my man when I was in middle school but most my stuff was in binders and all messed up so looking for nicer copies. Let me know if you have a lot worth shipping.
If you figure that PSA wants to get back down to 10 each, isn't it worth holding those Clemens and Duncan cards until grading prices come down a bit? I'd figure you won't have too much tied up in those, and hanging onto em to be graded will bring back max return. Will just take longer (even though it's a mystery when that $10 mark will hit). Really liked this vid though. This is the kinda stuff that I normally buy, minus Plank card
These videos are always interesting. I love watching you breaking them down by price, love your game plan with them. I respect you for the fair offers on buying cards from collectors. What you paid for the Ripken's from me would have been a nightmare to move. Not because it's Cal. I had guys that wanted to cherry pick the cards. I got no low ball offers, that completely shocked me and this is FB group dedicated to Cal's cards with some very serious collectors. People seem to always want to take advantage of you when your trying to sell. I hate it. I had one delusional guy wanting all the raw. But he expected me to go through all of them and give him card date, manufacturer, card # and detailed condition of each. Pictures were not good enough for him. I explained to him that was what a collect himself does and he expected everyone he bought from to do all the leg work. He got very nasty and I blocked him.
Chris, most of the other vloggers in the hobby clearly have connections that compromise their messages (maybe they do ad reads for eBay, or they're trying to get us to do breaks with them, etc.) Even if they seem honest, they have that stain of compromised integrity because of those issues. Not having ad reads, etc. really lends more credibility to your channel. I know monetizing has to be a long-term goal for any vlogger, but if you do monetize your channel, I hope you avoid the ad reads. You can monetize without compromising integrity, and it's hard to find vloggers in the hobby that know how to do this.
I really appreciate that. I have intentionally tried to avoid ad reads, the only exception Ive made is getting sponsors for the high rollers each week. It does mean I make significantly less through the channel than I would otherwise, it can be tough balance to find.

That seemed extremely low so I walked away. I'm glad I did.
Thats definitely too low!
That's why a lot of the local card shops are out of business. I have seen them pull it on kids...and that is infuriating.
Thanks for being transparent about this whole process Chris. I'm not actively involved in the hobby and find all of this fascinating.
Cool video, so I realize you quote cards by category base, inserts, graded etc. but do you add for top loaders too or do you send those back? Top loaders are kinda pricey now a days. Anyhow thanks for the content & keep the vids coming👍
No, I dont pay anything for used top loaders, I dont factor them in as having any value
Very fair prices paid, buyer should be happy.
Really enjoy your channel Chris. Impressive content and presentation.
That's awesome I just sold my house and had to move all my collectables with me that I have not done nothing with for years thinking about saying it off for my new hobby crypto lol. I need to put some thought on how would be the best for the biggest bang for all . Where are you located at If you don't mind.
I live in the Netherlands but travel to the States regularly. Feel free to email me at sewallsportscards@gmail.com
Great hit Chris. I do this all the time at yard sells. Go thru them till I see one that will pay for the price they want then take them all. Just found 2 Mark Jackson 90 hoops (Menendez,) in great shape. Keep these videos coming , we love em.
You want my Collection.? Just wondering 🤔.
You can email me at sewallsportscards@gmail.com
I have over 200 1986 baseball cards for sale all good condition for sale
Peyton Manning Topps rookie didn’t make the cut?
That was a 2010 Topps reprint
Great video! I really appreciate the candor you had!
Glad to know you are very honest with buying and selling 😉
I saw some Grant Hills in there, I would be interested in a Grant Hill lot, he was my man when I was in middle school but most my stuff was in binders and all messed up so looking for nicer copies. Let me know if you have a lot worth shipping.
I got quite a few hill rookies and inserts if interested z
How do I contact him?I have a large collection I would like to sell

Always great to watch, also good to watch someone who is educated and honest in the hobby...thanks Chris for all of your videos.
I think that's a smart play for established/HOF caliber guys like those.
Yeah, I have put aside a few cards in anticipation that PSA will eventually come back down. The Clemens for sure.
Ha! yeah I have had some nightmare scenarios trying to sell on facebook.
Great video! If you come across Torry Holts, I'd take those!
Really appreciated watching this. Love seeing this process
@@collectorinvestordealer Can't put a price on one's integrity ! You're the man Chris!
@@collectorinvestordealer at this point, your viewers would be okay.
Maybe do promo stuff for like panini or fanatics? This way you may get some free boxes that you can open and explain to us how you’ll be selling and whatnot.
We need more deal stories!!
Love videos like this. Your analysis is spot on and your interactions are genuine and honest. Thanks for sharing and congrats Zachary on the sale!
I wish you had a LCS. Some of those “0.10” cards I’ve seen being sold for $2. Stuff I’d love to buy but not worth it at all
Very much appreciate you breaking this down and presenting this buy. I really am learning a lot about the way you are valuing all the cards in terms of buying and selling and keeping. Thanks Chris for another excellent video
You mentioned you paid via friends and family. Why not goods and services?
To avoid paying a fee
@@stevengallant6363 correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought you were protected if you went goods and services. I guess though that if you already had product in hand it wouldn't matter?
@@matthewmorris7230 Chris answered this question on another comment and said that's exactly why he went GAS because he already had the cards so neither party needed any protections.. friends and family requires a fee
Paying goods and services is only for when one party (or both) needs protection. In this case, neither side needs protection as I already have the cards in hand and the seller has agreed to my price.
@@collectorinvestordealer Thanks
