Awesome video!! That guy that owned that collection sure does love Cal. I'm partial because it was mine. I didn't lose interest in Cal, just adding to it the PC. He will always be my favorite player and some ways my hero. Cal loves and appreciates his fans. I kept the RC's (10's), the 1980 Blue Minor League card (6) card and the 93 finest refractor (9). I hope you got the base Desert Shield and it goes into your PC. I left it in there for you. I was looking to upgrade the Record Breaker but I got out bid on a auction with PWCC. After watching your video showing all the 92 Donruss Elite's you have it made me feel satisfaction that you could add another one. That's the beauty of card collecting. People don't realize Cal saved baseball during the last strike season. The O's owner didn't want replacement players, it would have ended Cal's consecutive games streak. The owner (Peter Angelos) fought to end the strike so Cal's quest to break and set the new record of consecutive games played continued. Well I'm sure money also was involved it that decision. I hope you enjoy the cards going in to your personal collection. It makes me smile.
Thank you again Shane! I do love the additional 92 Donruss Elite auto. You kept some good ones as well! Totally agree on Cal. His impact during the strike season can not be understated. Also the streak really helped get people back into baseball after being upset from the strike.
Did you grade a lot of these yourself or did you purchase most of them already slabbed? How long did it take you to put this amazing collection together? Really impressive and special to see a collection like this.
@@tampahomeinvestorsllc7559 Thanks, I put a lot of time into it. I learned a lot about his cards. I started on it in 2015. I had several graded (around a 100) but a lot came back 8's. I wanted the PC to be at least 9. I sold most of the 8's. I kept a few I thought didn't deserve 8's. I cracked them and they came back 9's. I bought a lot from 4 Sharp Corners. Two being the Fleer and Donruss RC 10's from them. The the rest were from Ebay
@Love Truth I'm working on 80's-90's RC HOFers and some in the 2000's. Most are already in and some that I think it's a sure thing. Along with that I'm picking up guys I like but aren't HOFer's. (Eric Davis, Julio Franco, Orel Hershiser are just a few). It's basically the cards I had as a boy/teenager, even the juicers. Tring to get almost all of the cards I had way back when. From those years I'm working on a raw error/corrected PC. Another project I'm doing is RC/first card GOAT's from all sports. I have put a ton of research into it. A few are graded (low) but the rest are raw. I may grade them some day. All will draw low grades. Some were so hard to find. I got 2 coming in the mail. A Cricket and Rugby GOAT. I'm also slowly picking up the Promo cards for 1989 Upper Deck.
@Love Truth I don't think I'm a guy that could run a channel. I don't have any video cameras to make it easy to see, I just have my iPhone. I do post my pickups on Facebook. Are you in any card groups there? You can find me under my name Shane Hepner. If your interested in seeing some I could show you through my email. Last month I did posts by years of all the cards I have and been working on. I made my posts each day for the years I had cards of. I hadn't posted any error cards or my GOAT's. I want wait to post when I think I have them all in my eyes. I look into starting a channel if I can get videos.
It was a great feeling to pass it off to another Cal Ripken and I know Chris is selling some of it already and that gives me the same feeling. Passing on to other Ripken fans.
he probably paid much less than he now got, and he knows that it goes to a true fan of cal ripken who doesnt just split up and sell singles and destroy the set.
Chris's all-new grading and slabbing department has just got on its feet. These all will be graded soon. They are already rivaling the research department.
I was such a Ripken fan that I went as "Old Cal Ripken" for Halloween when I was 10, complete with jersey, ball pants, glove, old man face mask, and a sign around my neck saying something like "Cal Ripken at 10000 consecutive games played." My Cal collection is ungraded in a 3 ring binder of card sheets, and I love it just the same.
As a big Cal Ripken fan, you really hit a Home Run! You were able to broaden your Personal Collection, obtain a lot of great cards to sell and make a super video! I am happy for your continued success! Keep making the hobby better! Thanks!
Congrats on your incredible Cal Ripken haul. I wish I had those incredible cards. All I have is his 1982 Topps rookie and traded cards. Looks like well over 1000 Ripken cards there. 93 Topps Finest Refractor is one to add if you don't already own one. Thanks Chris for sharing your acquisition and props to Shane for selling to another huge Cal Ripken fan.
Wow. Incredible collection. I bought 2 bigger cards this past month. 1 was a PSA 10 TCMA Ripken minor league card (pop just under 300) for a little under comps. The rarer minors cards would be nice but they're all great. My Ripken card pickup is a PC purchase too with no plans of selling it (time will tell). I also got a PSA 8.5 Topps Mini George Brett RC for just under 1K, but was much harder to comp. This card will stay in my PC for a long while, if it isn't a casket card already. Brett RC is pop 29 with under 200 graded higher and is in the top 6.4% of all Brett Mini's graded. My truck just broke down and is going into the shop. Probably no new cards for the next month or two😅. Thanks again for sharing.
I've started a collection of Ceedee lamb rookie cards. I'm up to 356 rookie cards. Some I have 5 Prizm...ect... Man, there's so many brands now of football. Way toooo many!! I also have 420 wax era Michael Jordan cards.

This collection is a true love letter to what is the actual hobby of baseball card collecting. I hope the individual that put together this beautiful collection chose to part with it, not out of necessity, but, rather made a choice that left them with peace of mind rather than regret. It would break my heart to think that someone had to let something like this go, if they really did not want to part with it, seeing it as what is clearly a labor of love and dedication.

Very impressive Ripken Jr collection Chris.. That was awesome how very organized the collection was put together of the Iron Man.. Love it.. Stay safe all..👍💕🔥⚾😷
That wasn't a collection. That was a lifelong project of love. What a video. Chris, is there any chance that you can provide a follow-up video as to how you organized, kept for your PC, sold, auctioned each of these cards? That would be incredibly interesting.
Obviously this was a true collector who loved collecting cards of his favourite player with no thought of investment. But I'm sure he still got a good return for this. I loved seeing the 1994-2003 era with the explosion of brands and new technology tried out with snazzy cards. Late 90s Topps Finest, Bowman's Best, Bowman Chrome, Topps Chrome, Stadium Club Chrome Fleer Flair etc. So much beauty!
AMAZING!!!!...too bad grading prices have gone through the roof....you way never see any other collections like this going forward...but then again time changes everything...
Chris - Somewhere I have a Ripken autographed ball. I Used to hang out at the Boston Sheridan hotel late 80’s and get autographs from the visiting players. Yes, I was that guy. when I find it I’m going to send it to you. Really enjoy your channel and look foreword to each one. Slowly Getting back into the hobby after many years. Glad I kept my PC 70’s stuff and some others I picked up along the way.
This is such a cool video simply for it's historical timeline. It was awesome just watching the evolution of cards from the early 80's up until the modern days. It was even cooler to see it from the perspective of one player who had a really long career through many unique eras of card collecting!
Just like you Chris, I grew up with Cal as my hero, and he’s always been the main part of my collection. This collection is just incredible! What a dream to look through, and even if there were no graded cards it would be amazing to fondle and collate! Thank you for talking me down from trying to collect every single Ripken card haha!! wow what a collection! I would have to build a shelf to display some of those! Interested in what you paid for that collection? Most of them cards if bought before 2019 was $10 or less which is awesome when building a PC.
Love stuff like this...and for you, you now have a livetime job, to try and finish the set, get all cards in a psa 10, ad missing ones and stuff like that
Wow, definitely the most Cal Ripken’s I’ve ever seen at once! Unbelievable how many graded Cals are in this set as well, beautiful! I’m curious to what was paid for this? Probably few grands for sure maybe 3-4? What y’all think 🤔 I didn’t hear if he did say what he paid for all! Still unbelievable collection for real!!!
I don't know whether you disclosed the price, but I didn't hear it if you did, or will it be disclosed as part of a deal summary video where you show the net outcome?
Great Ripken collection, the whole low pop count thing versus who the hell would spend the money to grade a common junk wax card is a whole other discussion altogether 😬
FYI... "Similar to Topps Tiffany and Fleer Glossy, 1988 Score Glossy is a 660 card parallel of the regular 1988 Score set. Although not serial-numbered, only 5000 of these sets were produced -- and each set's box is serial-numbered. These sets were issued in factory set versions only and released solely through Major League Marketing's Hobby accounts." And from PSA... "The 1988 Score Glossy baseball set consists of 660 cards, each measuring 2-1/2" by 3-1/2”. The glossy version is identical to Score’s regular issue, but covered with a UV coating. A color likeness of each player occupies the front with the company logo at the corner, and his name and position identified at the bottom border. Each card is framed by one of six different colors. Card backs feature a color player photo as well as his name, team logo, company logo, and statistics. The 1988 Score baseball set is anchored by the regular issue cards of Mark McGwire (#5), Mike Schmidt (#16), Roger Clemens (#110), Barry Bonds (#265), and Nolan Ryan (#575). Rookie cards include Matt Williams (#118), Ken Caminiti (#164), and Tom Glavine (#638). Subsets include Reggie Jackson Tribute (#s 500-504), Highlights (#s 652-660), and Rookie Prospects (#623-647). One of the key cards is #501 from the Jackson Tribute set, portraying the Hall of Famer during his one-year stay with the Orioles. Score only issued this specialized glossy version as a factory set with a limited run of 5,000."
Please keep all the 10 you don’t have for yourself. With the way grading is today it’s so hard to get a new 10 of something from psa and the price is insane. At some point that’s all you will left to chase is 10’s of all cards and you my friend have a great start
Did you get any of the topps exclusives of cal ripken? Chuck styles had some nice ones !! Also I believe Chuck styles did a custom card with an Iron man helmet and an oriole sitting on top of it
Looks like mostly older submissions with older slabs too so it wasn't like he recently did it for a quick money grab. That's an impressive collection for sure! I'll be watching the auctions..
You never mentioned what you paid for the collection. It must have been substantial as most are graded in high condition. Just the grading fees would be over 1000’s back then…..
Thanks for another great video Chris! I always found the Ripken 94 Stadium Dugout Dirt card interesting @8:25. The back has the date he was projected to break Gehrig's record, but that date ended up being incorrect due to the strike.
That is so awesome! As a Ripken fan you must have had a smile on your face the whole time going through those. As someone who is working on some player master sets in my PC, I really appreciate this collection. So cool.
That's a really cool collection I'm just surprised that you're not going to keep them all I figured you'd want to keep them because you're the big Cal Ripken jr. Fan
Nat Turner needs to see this to be reminded first hand why PSA has gotta have that value option back. I know he supports the idea, but this is a living example of why it’s so important.
I really want to do this for another player. How do I find out every card made for a certain player? This video just really put a spotlight on how little I know about all the different cards for a given player.
Curious where this ranked on the PSA Cal Ripken super set? Did Shane say? I’m collecting the same set, but with Rickey Henderson. Last I checked I have about 900 different Henderson’s total, with around 200 graded. The new pricing really made it tough to grade low value cards for collections like this😔 Cool collection, thanks for sharing!
@@collectorinvestordealer Wow!😳 I just looked. Cal Ripken Master Set is comprised of 3565 cards & one guy has 80% of them graded! He’s by far ranked #1. You should interview him for your channel!
Wow, Wow, Wow…Cal infected many of us. If only more of these current day athletes were more unassuming, and team-oriented like Cal was (is). The “Me” generation is not one I care to duplicate, or have my son learn from. But this collection is, like you said, “Heaven”.
I have a investment question i used to collect baseball cards as a kid But now as an adult I have some extra income I could put toward a high valued card or autograph which do you think I should pursue a PSA graded 10 of a new Player from the 2000s and up or just go with a PSA graded Mickey Mantle autographed baseball thank you Jason i’m looking to spend about 1000 or less thank you so much and love your videos Makes me want to get back into collecting cards
Hello Jason. Cool to hear you are getting back into the hobby! If you are looking for long term investments, I would recommend vintage. Highest grade and best players possible.

Thats an incredible collection he did an outstanding job with the way he took care of the cards.. What a great guy.
So good! So nostalgic. A reminder of the tragedy of card grading and the current inability to slab up “common” cards due to cost.

Sounds like a score to me.
Outstanding collection! I'm sure your pumped!!
Please keep all the 10 you don’t have for yourself. With the way grading is today it’s so hard to get a new 10 of something from psa and the price is insane. At some point that’s all you will left to chase is 10’s of all cards and you my friend have a great start
Ripken was one of my favorite players to collect as a kid
Awesome collection
Awesome deal! Ima big fan of Cal too but my dad is a huge Cal Ripken jr fan, ima send him this video, he’ll luv seeing all these cards💪
Did you get any of the topps exclusives of cal ripken? Chuck styles had some nice ones !! Also I believe Chuck styles did a custom card with an Iron man helmet and an oriole sitting on top of it
No I didnt get any of the Exclusives. Would be cool
Hahaha “card sorting department will be reprimanded.” Impressive collection!
Take it easy on the sorting department
how much do you sell your baseball base cards for
The elephant in the room: How much did you pay for it all?!?!?!?
There are 5 elephants in the room. He paid 5 elephants for this collection.
Chris, how much money 💰 did you pay for this Cal ripken Jr collection?
Looks like mostly older submissions with older slabs too so it wasn't like he recently did it for a quick money grab. That's an impressive collection for sure! I'll be watching the auctions..
Wow…… I’m jealous… Great looking cards …… Was there any ‘Star’ cards in there?
You never mentioned what you paid for the collection. It must have been substantial as most are graded in high condition. Just the grading fees would be over 1000’s back then…..
No 1984 Topps Nestle?! Great collection!
Thanks for another great video Chris! I always found the Ripken 94 Stadium Dugout Dirt card interesting @8:25. The back has the date he was projected to break Gehrig's record, but that date ended up being incorrect due to the strike.
I use to buy the 93 score trying to pull the Stan Musual cards. Never pulled 1 and I would buy multiple packs every week.
Watching this made me want to start my Matt Ryan collection, and I've got work to do
Great collection! Cal Ripken is a great guy but I hear his brother Billy is a real F face...😁
I made a crazy purchase that I think will do good on regular rollers. Do I just email a few screenshots and a little description of the buy?
Instructions for submitting for regular rollers are included in the description of each RR video
Thanks for sharing. Huge orioles fan here.
That is so awesome! As a Ripken fan you must have had a smile on your face the whole time going through those. As someone who is working on some player master sets in my PC, I really appreciate this collection. So cool.
Yeah I was a total kid in a candy store with this one
That's a really cool collection I'm just surprised that you're not going to keep them all I figured you'd want to keep them because you're the big Cal Ripken jr. Fan
It probably caused alot of duplication with his collection. Hence the selling of some.
I have the 1984 Nestle in a BGS 9.5 . Didn't see that one .
Congratulation on the pickup
Those cards back in the 90s numbered to 5k were still very hard to pull.
Great collection! Any Ripken PSA pop 1 from this collection?
There were a few lower pop cards, but I dont think any pop 1s
How much were the grading fees when those cards were submitted to PSA? Thanks for the video!
How much was that collection?
Nat Turner needs to see this to be reminded first hand why PSA has gotta have that value option back. I know he supports the idea, but this is a living example of why it’s so important.
So true
Wow. Really really impressive. Happy you were able to obtain such a stellar collection.
Sportsflics! A set that stood a part on its own for the time. Nice collection!
I really want to do this for another player. How do I find out every card made for a certain player? This video just really put a spotlight on how little I know about all the different cards for a given player.
On Beckett.com you can see a list of every card made of a player
Ty I'm officially SOOOOOOOOO jelly!ty for sharing!
One stop shopping 🛍️
Very impressive collection!
more tens than the playboy mansion
Wow I've been collection Ripken since the 8th grade and this collection is amazing.
Good question but I dont think it was registered on the PSA website
@@collectorinvestordealer Well, it’s not too late!! I’m sure you have days of spare time to input cert # after cert # into PSA!!🤣
@@collectorinvestordealer Wow!😳 I just looked. Cal Ripken Master Set is comprised of 3565 cards & one guy has 80% of them graded! He’s by far ranked #1. You should interview him for your channel!
Wow! I might reach out to them...
Nice cards, Shane. Good luck with your other projects! 🙂
Quite the collection there man!
Wow, Wow, Wow…Cal infected many of us. If only more of these current day athletes were more unassuming, and team-oriented like Cal was (is). The “Me” generation is not one I care to duplicate, or have my son learn from. But this collection is, like you said, “Heaven”.
Awesome buy congratulations
Any thoughts on starting a ripken master collection on the registry?
I considered that although I have never done the set registry thing personally
Can you tell us how much you paid? Thanks
I have a nice ripken collection myself. But nothing like this one. That's amazing
And I thought I had a monster Joe Montana collection. Very cool Ironman collection.
I have a investment question i used to collect baseball cards as a kid
But now as an adult I have some extra income I could put toward a high valued card or autograph which do you think I should pursue a PSA graded 10 of a new Player from the 2000s and up or just go with a PSA graded Mickey Mantle autographed baseball thank you Jason i’m looking to spend about 1000 or less thank you so much and love your videos
Makes me want to get back into collecting cards
Hello Jason. Cool to hear you are getting back into the hobby! If you are looking for long term investments, I would recommend vintage. Highest grade and best players possible.
