So the reason there isn't a true Jak and Daxter 4 gamer is because the team didn't feel like they wee putting their heart and soul into it? Well that's pretty honorable and thoughtful to the fans.
+Brandon Tunnel While it means there won't be a good chance of another Jak and Daxter game being made, it shows that Naughty Dog knows when something's run it's course. They've done all they could with the franchise, and it's time to leave it as the masterpiece it is. =)
+Brandon Tunnel Though you have to admit that the concept art for the photo-realistic Jak and Daxter looked pretty damn good, especially if it was on the newest consoles. Perhaps they could of explained who Mar was... I'm not even sure to this day.
+Daxter Galaxy Mar is Jak's birth name and he went back in time and stopped the metal heads from killing everyone. He is the founder of haven city which is located on top of sandover village. Essentially he is his own ancestor
At least it's better than saying, "All right, we haven't released a game in a while, we must innovate! We must evolve with the tikmes! We must DUMP on EVERYTHING that made the original games MEMORABLE and stick with CAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRS!" Sorry, just had to get it off my chest.
I feel like Naughty Dog is such a great company because they grew up with their audience. Crash Bandicoot - 90's (the Audience are still children) Jak 1- early 00's (the Audience are early preteens and children) Jak II/III (The audience are almost teenagers.) Uncharted 2007-2013 (Audience is in middle/high school) The last of us 2013(Audience are adults.) This is genius. I wouldn't mind a hybrid approach. Similar to stuff like Ratchet & Clank or Crash Bandicoot or Spyro. You know... realistic fur/hair/skin but a stylized shape. Like Pixar/Disney
Ditto, any sort of attempt at a realistic art style would date the game immediately upon release. Despite being released initially on the PS2, the original games still look great due to their cartoonish art style.
I remember fooling around for hours in the main hub areas of _Jak 2_ and _Jak 3_ as a young kid. Getting chased by the law in 2 or turning the rouge townspeople against each other and watching a shooting match in 3. Loved it. XD
I think the somewhat "downfall" of good games and game franchises like this was the thought process that the player base was getting older and for whatever reason we would want 15 redesigns of characters we loved and a more mature story. I wouldnt expect from playing Jak and Daxter as a kid, to eventually they would be some machine gun wielding, prostitute slaying couple. Redesigns and revamps really should only be for dead franchises and reboots. Changing over to HD is vastly different from that and I think they got the two confused. Gaming companies keep trying to stay ahead of the curve with these random decisions and think that its staying fresh, just go back to telling a good story with characters I love already and stop trying to fix what isn't broken.
This comment speaks volumes to me. Jak and Daxter was one of the first games I got for my PS2, and I absolutely loved it. My parents were super strict about game ratings when I was growing up, so when they made the move to more "mature" content, my parents wouldn't let me get it. It was the worst, and I never got to play them.
+cozscav yep, its the best racing game ive ever played, i remember forcing my family to play deathmatches with me in that, made up my own game mode i call giant volley ball by knocking the giant sphere around in the mar Colosseum
rejvaik jak and daxter was the first game i ever played. if i ever met the creators of jak and daxter i would beg them for another. i hate letting a great series die off :(
+Feraligatr Dude, I agree 100%. My first game was jak and daxter TPL. It was difficult considering I was around 4 when I got it I think (came out 2001, I was born 2001, it was destined to be my favourite game series) (my brother also got ratchet and clank at the exact same time). Jak 2 was incredibly difficult for me and I never finished it, unitl I turned 13 and finally completed it on the ps2. Jak 3 I remembered for years the final boss was impossible. Then hd collection came out. I beat the first game (all 101 power cells) beat the second game again, and when it came time for the final boss of the third game... it was incredibly simple because my gaming knowledge had grown so much.
The two games that ruined NaughtyDog in the first place. I swear if they didn't go towards the realistic platformers and stuck to what they were good at, we wouldve had a proper end to the series and better games down the road.
Let's not knock down Uncharted and Last of Us. Those games are still good in their own right and while I prefer Crash and Jak, this is still toxic nostalgia talk right here.
+K Damon Well they learned their lesson after Lost Frontier, which I think really put the nails in the coffin for the series. But PlayStation really needs to reboot their exclusive characters. Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Spyro, all are due for a good next gen game.
Illier1 lost frontier was just them giving their keys to some kids and saying "drive slow" It seemed as though the full group here wanted to go into this realistic take on our heroes.
+Illier1 Ratchet and Clank are getting a PS4 re-make of their original game. It'll have a little inspiration from the movie they're also working on, but I guess it's going to be a re-imagined version of the first R&C.
+Illier1 Spyro isn't a PlayStation exclusive character. And Ratchet and Clank lived on through the PS3 era with some fantastic games (go play A Crack in Time right now). Ratchet and Clank for PS4 also comes out next year.
If Naughty Dog was going to reinvent Jak like those images showed then I'm glad the game wasn't made. While I still want A Jak 4 (not including Lost Frontier) I still want it to be like the old ones, just with prettier visuals and maybe the explanation of how Jak becomes Mar.
+cantthinkofaname1990 IF he becomes mar. keep in mind it was ashlin that dubbed him "The Mar" and her words are about as sound as £3 note. for all we know damos could've named jak after a descendent. or he might've just found the seal of mar whilst driving around in the wastelands. also you forgot to mention not including Jak X but i think it's clear Jak X doesn't have a strong connection to the main story. also in terms of next gen graphics i think they should use something similar to the graphics they used to make those mini videos for jak 3.
***** Well because of all the time travel stuff in Jak 1 and 2 I think it's a fair assumption that Jak becomes Mar. Plus, the games heavily imply that Jak is Mar and not just a descendant named after him. Also, Ashlin didn't dub him as Mar, she said it in more of a questioning manner because she was confused as to how that could be possible. But as we know, Jak has time traveled twice before, he could do it again. And yeah, I didn't think Jak X needed mentioning because it's a spinoff and doesn't progress Jak's personal story (though it is a great game). But I did mention the Lost Frontier because it's just a bad game and also doesn't progress his story. Fuck, now I want to play Jak.
+cantthinkofaname1990 I think they can make an awesome open world experience going into the past. Jak, with both Light and Dark Eco powers, can go back and build Haven City and drive out the Metal Heads. It could add a ton of cool stuff with customization, maybe a city building element. Even if they didnt take that direction we got a ton off cool things that world has to offer. The Wasteland, Precursor Ruins, travel to new places.
+cantthinkofaname1990 It was never, ever confirmed that Jak is The Mar, so that's invalid. Jak X and The Lost Frontier are also canon and tie into the overall story of Jak. This is common sense to any true fan, as they made it obvious and confirmed it in both games.
+Ben Knight (KnightVision) It was actually confirmed that Jak is the descendant of Mar in Jak 3 (and Jak II). It was however, never confirmed that Jak is the same Mar. Seem re-confirmed Jak is Mar. When Ashelin questioned *The* Mar, Seem along with everyone else said nothing. I don't know where majority of the fanbase gets the false idea that Jak is The Mar.
Jak and Daxter was the shit. It's definitely more revolutionary than people give it credit for. The first ever seamless 3D world on a console? That's a pretty big deal, and it's tough to replicate even by today's standards. Also, I hope, if they do make a 4th Jak and Daxter game, that it's more along the lines of the original. 2 and 3 were good games in their own right, but they didn't feel like Jak and Daxter.
Also, the fact that it was almost entirely written in a Lisp, graphics and all, is really impressive. Honestly, I'd speculate that the real reason why Jak 4 didn't become a thing was because they had to write a new game engine for it in C++, because the guy who developed the custom lisp dialect that they used to build the previous games had left the company. There's a few blog posts about their process of trying to port the game engine to C++ for Jak IV and failing (ahem, "getting a rude awakening"), because C++ simply didn't support the kind of crazy wizardry used in many parts of the game engine to make everything seamless. It was basically a redesign from scratch in a language that was far less adapted to the things they needed to do. Another really impressive but not-obvious thing that Jak & Daxter did was to be the first PS2 game with autosave. This was in the days of "Saving. Do not remove the MEMORY CARD (8MB) (for PlayStation® 2) or turn off the power." , when saving required going to a save point and interupting the gameplay as the game focused solely on that. The reason why that worked was because their Lisp dialect had coroutines as a language feature, so it could multitask and could interleave memory card I/O between calls to the game engine, without having to stop and focus on one or the other. C++ could not do that at all, and still sort of can't (coroutines are available as nonstandard extensions, and are going to be added to the official C++ language spec in the C++20 revision, while naughty dog was playing with them in the 90s).
+gamerprince1999 and a movie, now would have been the perfect time for naughty dog to join up with ratchet for a reboot. Imagine, jak and ratchet on the ps4... we can dream
+Tycro Rogers Because they have no interest in doing that, the only time they were interested was a reboot which was guaranteed to make them a lot of money because of how many of the old fans would be screaming about how awful it probably would be.....or they could of made it work. Who knows! But judging by the failure that was The Legend of Spyro: it's hard to tell.
+Tycro Rogers I can agree with that but I never got into R&C when they brought it over to PS3 and updated the look of Ratchet. I was reluctant to play it because I thought never would be as good as the OG 3 on PS2. I played the one with tachyon and the story of his race and I felt like they were targeting the younger demographic at the time and not the original fans.
+True Pride I always got vibes from some manga I've read in terms of art style. But the series always had a sort of charm I normally don't get from other series, and as a result, it always made me smile. Now knowing that they aren't quite ready to bring this series due to more ethical and honorable reasons, I will say this as one that is a bit patient when it comes to some series: do take all the time y'all need to come up with something good, even if it takes a while to do so. I was willing to wait a long time for some series that I have liked growing up, I can wait for this series.
+Fatacemcafee It's incredibly sad how a great amount of people don't both see this and agree with this. The only flaw with the game was *only* the save glitch. ND however, fixed this issue in the newer copies of Jak X in 2005 and shipped them out. I was one of those who received this - never had any save issue whatsoever and I played the game over 3x. #IgnoranceAtItsBest
Jak and Daxter will always be my favorite Sony mascots. One of the best memories of my life I have in the past 2 years was that after I took my last finals at college during the Fall and Winter semester, I took the shuttle and metro to my local mall, got some food, and picked up the HD collection at Gamestop for 20 bucks, made my long walk to my house in the cold, and as my body thawed, I played through the original game on my PS3 to begin my Christmas break. I got 100 percent in it within 5 hours.
Used to be my notification sound... But for how long it is... It started getting annoying for other people when I started getting a lot of notifications... So sadly... I changed it...
+Makalon102 no I got it about halfway through me typing that reply. You meant to imply that game was so disappointing to you that it's like the footage of it in the video doesn't even exist... but that joke was so horribly put together I still left the comment
The bit about the writings and especially the ones about Morgan gave me chills. I always wondered as a child what the writings said. I miss this game so much.
I started tearing up at the intro, Jak and Daxter was a huge part of my childhood. I still have a Playstation 2 in my room and the main three games and Jak X. I love Jak and Daxter so much and I really appreciate the video on one of my favorite game series. Thank you!
DEFINITELY Crash Bandicoot! They did some INSANE shit with the behind the scenes of that game. They did with Uncharted, too, but I don't believe they did as much progressive shit? Like, they had a programming error caused by quantum physics with the PS1's hardware design, and they seeked over the disc more times in an average playthrough than the PS1's original drive was rated for.
+Asdayasman Though if you could get a core dev on to talk about it too, that'd be nice; you can already read a lot about Crash hacks and development online.
"...the team thought a silent protagonist would help immerse the player in the game." I hate that way of thinking so much because it is a popular and gross oversimplification of what immersion entails.
Thank you DYKG so much for doing a video on Jak and Daxter! These games honestly were my childhood. And as I grew up, so did the games. It was perfect. I'm still eagerly anticipating another Jak and Daxter game. I know it's a long shot, but if they came close to doing it before, I don't see why it couldn't happen again!
+Hidden Flare There's nothing wrong with someone having impaired speech, they just usually don't become narrators. Although I don't think he has it, it's just his delivery.
In geyser rock, near the beginning, you can find a giant precursor robot stuck in the cliff above you to your left. And yes, the series is probably my favorite.
+SnivyTries yep at first i was disappointed when it came out thinking it was going to be just a lame spin off, but after playing it i loved it and its still my favorite racing game to this day
If you watch the movie Bringing Down the House, you can hear sound effects of the first Jak and Daxter in the background of one scene. Jak amd Daxter was a new game at the time the movie was made.
+Sir_Sniff-A-Lot i loved the games so much on the ps2 thati bought them for the ps3 as well so i could get the trophies...still working on jak 2s precursor orbs though those damn races/reverse races are the only thing preventing me from getting all three platinums
+Brandon Withnell A completion is still a completion. You still earned it. If devs left it in like jak asses then it becomes a valid form of completion.
+tahu1235 I really wish I could've recommended this, but unfortunately, my disk was used when I got it and scratched to hell, so I barely got to play it. What little I could play was fun though :/
I used to love this game! I played it at my friend's house, seeing how I didn't grow up with video games in my own home. I love that you can summersault into a flip, pull people out of their vehicles, and steal vehicles, gaining police wanted levels, forcing you to hide until the police aren't searching for you anymore. Funny how that was my favorite part of the game (lol).
+Yoshifreak2000 If you like collectathon style 3D platformers you'll like Jak 1. If you like GTA like games that are pretty frustrating at times and have a brown world and dark atmosphere you'll like Jak 2. And if you want Jak 2 but with a huge desert to explore in a Mad Max kind of way, with a lot more colour than Jak 2 and no frustrating elements, then you'll like Jak 3. As you can probably tell Jak 3 is my favourite.
What blew me away as a kid was the fact that the Jak 2 and 3 cutscenes were NOT pre rendered and actually rendered in real time on the PS2 (there's a glitch in Jak 3 where you can run around in some of the cutscenes).
As a ratchet and clank enthusiast I still miss the jak and daxter games. Maybe they will be reinvented like crash bandicoot but that is just a remaster but we can just be hopeful.
STRONGLY disagree, they're great and amazing in of themselves and fantastic when they try to be unique on what they're striving for in tone. It's a good thing to be unique for each iteration.
The Jak series was my childhood.. I remember first getting my PS2 along with Jak and Daxter and I loved it so much. Then Jak 2 came out and I was totally blown away by how much was added and how fun it was , but being a 7 year old at the time I always had to hide it from my dad since it was rated T and he was very serious about keeping me away from T-M rated games until I was like 10 lol. Jak 3 was even more mind blowing with how huge the Wasteland was , the story overall in every game was amazing, I keep to heart every bit of it. Very unique game series and if you have never played the games definitely pick up the HD collection , you won't be disappointed.
Wow. Some of those scrapped designs for Jak and Daxter were like really cool, really good looking characters...like all the ones I saw. Ya know, I like those designs, I would hate to see them go to waste. I bet those leftover designs would make good background characters in another game. They say Jak's original design was more wolf like, then it went based on royalty and martial arts? I'm thinking something like a Jade Empire for furries, made by Naughty Dog. No, not like Kung Fu Panda, more like Avatar and Zootopia with a slightly more mature twist. Ya know, you would definitely see the influences in the character designs that reflects Jak and Daxter. But yeah, I'm seeing an RPG like game. Like I said, Jade Empire, but perhaps with more platforming elements. Jade Empire + Jak 2/3, perhaps a dash of Sly (cuz asia=ninjas, so stealth). If not that, then combine Jak and Daxter with aspects of the Last of Us.
Simon The Digger I just looked up the HD Trilogy collection for 360, I'm disappointed to see there's no collection for Daxter, Jak X, and The Lost Frontier. I need this, why hasn't this happened yet?
I'm 17, Jak and Daxter was released in 2001 and it was my very first Playstation game. I was 3 years old and had a demo disk with a demo of Jak and Daxter on it and I instantly fell in love. My mom went out and bought it for me within like a week. This franchise means sooooo much to me and honestly, It would be absolutely amazing if they finally worked on a fourth installment. I hope this idea goes somewhere.
Jak and Daxter is one of my favorite trilogy series franchises that I own in my collection of PS2 games. I'll play them again, that's how much I love them.
Alright Naughty Dog. Hurry the fuck up. Fuck The Last of Us, and Uncharted. Give us another fucking Jak and/or Daxter game. I'd buy a PS4 Exclusively for that
At the end of the video you're supposed to click 1 out of 2 links to cast a vote, Uncharted's image has it's link, Crash's doesn't, so basically, We literally can't vote for Crash at all =/
+MalikJC jak 4 never happened. lost frontier is not jak 4 and even if its claimed to be nobody should accept that piece of shit game as part of the main series.
I'm so damn glad they didn't end up making a Jak 4 with that realistic looking Jak. He looks nothing like what Jak is supposed to look like! He's supposed to look cartoony it's the whole art style of the series! I hope they can make a Jak 4 someday but not until they're ready to do it properly. Until then I wish they would just port them all onto PS4 in HD or something.
+TheCarrotyfungus Jak and Daxter as a kid had parts that were difficult to manage as a babby whale like me :P the spider mines were not great for finishing in 1 either. Or perhaps im thinking the volcano area? Not sure.
+TheCarrotyfungus i somehow managed to finish it.. took me like a year because i was struggling with the missions and i was too lazy playing it.. XD i think jak 3 was little easier.
i only beat jak 2 for the first time as a kid after getting halfway through 3, now though i can beat it fairly easily since i know the best ways to survive in the hard missions...now getting all those precursor orbs is still something i havnt done jak 2 is the only main jak game ive yet to 100%
So the reason there isn't a true Jak and Daxter 4 gamer is because the team didn't feel like they wee putting their heart and soul into it?
Well that's pretty honorable and thoughtful to the fans.

You could make a pretty good game based off of that actually if you did it right. Add in a city building mechanic and I'd buy it.
I feel like Naughty Dog is such a great company because they grew up with their audience.
Crash Bandicoot - 90's (the Audience are still children)
Jak 1- early 00's (the Audience are early preteens and children)

The last of us 2013(Audience are adults.)
This is genius.
Edit 2022: Reading 'Naughty Dog' and 'Great company' in the same sentence made me laugh
now all they need to do is make a game for old people
+veshawn2000 Senior Demographic XD
+JoJoXGamer Knitting simulator
+JoJoXGamer i wanna feel like a kid again so jak 4 plz? ;-; plz?
+veshawn2000 A Horror game.
Jak and Daxter is a game that's on my list of games I missed out on... definitely need to play it someday.
true man btw first comment hehea
I don't play it either but I still watch these
yes
+SpaceHamster I never grew up with the PlayStation 2 initially so the series has eluded me for many years.
I never plan to play that game at all.
I have to say, I hope future Jak games doesn't go for the realistic look. I like its cartoony art style
NRGoon ur right all this cancer in one comment
Deadpan7 😂 fuck you man thats it im deleting the comment i was high
NRGoon do you remember what it said 😂

favorite jak and daxter reference
seeing them in clanks apartment in ratchet and clank:going commando (ratchet and clank 2 for the brits)
+Saben Butts You can see them in Damosel too
+Victor Alonso And you can see Ratchet & Clank on a poster in Haven City in Jak 2.
+Cave Johnson the PAL regioned innuendos were better dont you agree?
+Saben Butts see it too ;)
+Saben Butts Actually it was called "Ratchet and Clank 2: Locked and Loaded" in Britain.
I remember fooling around for hours in the main hub areas of _Jak 2_ and _Jak 3_ as a young kid.

amen to that
Cloud Connected jak 2 and 3 we're better than 1
awsd211 I would say the fanbase is split 50/50 on that. I myself prefer the Precursor Legacy much more than 2 or 3
This comment speaks volumes to me.

Yea it was a fun game. I remember connecting Daxter to it to unlock him and the Ottsel Mobile lol

+cozscav I try really hard not to.
***** That story was pretty cringy Lol
Stories for racing games never really work...I just loved blowing shit up and going in slomo!
that's how you make a good game you take time and don't rush it. Love Jak back in 2000 was my first ps2 game
(Jak and Daxter came out in 2001)
rejvaik sane dude! My childhood friend and I absolutely loved this game!
rejvaik me too I love it
rejvaik same

+Michael Aiyedun Literally SAMEEEEEEEEEEEE
Honestly original precursor graphics are my favorite still.
These games are still my most favourite of all time. Grew up with Jak and Daxter, then kept going with Jak II and Jak 3, absolutely amazing games.
The lost frontier does not exist.
+Jak Cooper Haha, nice joke.
200odd300 is lost frontier the one with planes?
warriors code planes?? idk I never played it, google it or youtube it.
Not the best. But it was still an awesome game. It just didn't follow the same story line, and wasn't made by Naughty Dog.
it was great for a PSP game
People won't remember Uncharted or The Last of Us like we remember Crash Bandicoot and Jak & Daxter
The two games that ruined NaughtyDog in the first place. I swear if they didn't go towards the realistic platformers and stuck to what they were good at, we wouldve had a proper end to the series and better games down the road.
That's just not true
Because they aren't similar at all. Jack and crash were classics. Most never played the other 2
Let's not knock down Uncharted and Last of Us. Those games are still good in their own right and while I prefer Crash and Jak, this is still toxic nostalgia talk right here.
Uncharted yes, Last of Us 1 yes, all that happened after that megh

I don't know where majority of the fanbase gets the false idea that Jak is The Mar.
... Can I vote for another Jak and Daxter video?
yes please lol
They didn't even mention the Jak X game, they have failed us if they dont make another part to this.
I agree with u
That'd be great.
yes please
The Morgan thing is actually really dark and depressing...
I wouldn't call it dark but sad
It made me tear up a little we lost a dog a little while ago, its heart wrenching
Pretty sure you mean sad, not dark.
Morgan. . . .the labrador. . . .i assume Morgan was the reason for the name naughty dog?
Sad
Or daxter 2 were pecker and tess could be playable
@@BosonColliderIdk what you just said, but I agree.
It's hard to believe the same company made the last of us.
Not really, great games, great company :P
***** Not entirely
r2c123 But they are vastly different style wise
+DonkeyToll more than half the development team from the early days are still on.
+Josh Chamberlin Naughty Dog is just cool like that.
I hope we get another main jak game.
We all do
If not, I'll stick with another Daxter spin off one
+ballzofSteel02 I think its better they dont to be honest. Or else it becomes another Mario game series with no originality.
+bomb00000 Ratchet and Clank has over 10 games in the series and is getting a reboot though.
+gamerprince1999 and a movie, now would have been the perfect time for naughty dog to join up with ratchet for a reboot. Imagine, jak and ratchet on the ps4... we can dream
Yo, those concept arts of jak and daxter for the 4th game look so badass.
Jack & Daxter, Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper are my most favorite games for the PS series.
Why don't Jak & Daxter just go in same direction as Ratchet & Clank is going:
Keep it's cartoony designs and just HDify it?
Because ND is like DC comics. They think dark means better.
But if ratchet and clank can make it into the ps4 generation then I still have hope that jak and daxter can make it too
How dare you translate the precursor language and break my heart
RIP Morgan ❤️
lmao!
Jak X Combat Racing... the best combat racing game ever.
Like Twisted Metal and Mario Kart combined. Racing perfection.
Exactly. I still have the game but I cant play it since my controller broke :c
+Fatacemcafee IMO the BEST racing game/kart racer EVER. I spent so many hours on that master piece with my brother... That's nostalgia for ya.
+Fatacemcafee
I never played it.
I still think CTR is the best kart racer I've played (played all the Mario Karts & a few others)
Mr. Fedora Holy heck that sounds so pleasant
"We were doing a disservice to the ip"
That didn't age well did it, eh Druckman?
"You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain."
-The Burned Man
i will never.not love the power cell. collecting sound.
Used to be my notification sound... But for how long it is... It started getting annoying for other people when I started getting a lot of notifications... So sadly... I changed it...
lee capman if i was a twitch streamer id have a screen pop up with daxter slam dunking a kappa powercell into jak's backpack when i'd get a sub.
I want a Sly Cooper episode!
+TheStupidRaptor i want it too it would kick ass -bryan t
these games were my childhood I loved them
5:01 - 5:27 why is the video and sound gone here? its like it doesn't exist
+Makalon102 ...it's not?
you don't get it
+Makalon102 no I got it about halfway through me typing that reply. You meant to imply that game was so disappointing to you that it's like the footage of it in the video doesn't even exist... but that joke was so horribly put together I still left the comment
its a very common thing lol, everyone does this
... yeah everyone does it, but with a way better execution than you do here...
Thank you!
I think I would rather wait for a really good Jak and Daxter game than get a poor rushed one
I can’t hear druckman without cringing now
DEFINITELY Crash Bandicoot!
"...the team thought a silent protagonist would help immerse the player in the game." I hate that way of thinking so much because it is a popular and gross oversimplification of what immersion entails.
but jak wouldn't be nearly as classic a video game protagonist if he talked more
Well I love his body language in the first game. It's nice that he speaks in the following games though.
Thank you DYKG so much for doing a video on Jak and Daxter! These games honestly were my childhood. And as I grew up, so did the games. It was perfect. I'm still eagerly anticipating another Jak and Daxter game. I know it's a long shot, but if they came close to doing it before, I don't see why it couldn't happen again!
...Do you have some sort of speech impediment?
+Alpaca Man Why do you ask?
He sounds perfectly fine. Why make a comment like that?
+Fearl because it sounds like he does.
+Alpaca Man He sounds normal to me, although why should we care if he does or not, its not like he can control it.
+Hidden Flare There's nothing wrong with someone having impaired speech, they just usually don't become narrators.
Although I don't think he has it, it's just his delivery.
Jak and Daxter is my favorite video game series of all time
In geyser rock, near the beginning, you can find a giant precursor robot stuck in the cliff above you to your left. And yes, the series is probably my favorite.
I'm hoping that naughty dog is working on jak 4 in secret
That would be great, wonder how they'll keep the "funny jokes" since some people get very stingy now with them
@@EchoCedric561 if its not in their demographic =, they should be able to say what they i think
After watching the Crash Bandicoot videos, it has me hankering for another Jak & Daxter video whenever more facts are found ☺️
Jak and Daxter is life. These games were my childhood, along with a game called "Haven".
No mention of Jak X: Combat Racing? That game was a racer that actually had a storyline, challenge, and other really cool stuff.
+SnivyTries yep at first i was disappointed when it came out thinking it was going to be just a lame spin off, but after playing it i loved it and its still my favorite racing game to this day
this game is just gorgeous
***** one of my favorites games franchise!
Severe lack of Jak X: Combat Racing.
Favorite racing game of all time.
If you watch the movie Bringing Down the House, you can hear sound effects of the first Jak and Daxter in the background of one scene. Jak amd Daxter was a new game at the time the movie was made.
Jak was not a mute. He just never gets the chance to talk, because Daxter interrupts him everytime.
can even hear him go "ouch!" when he gets hit. and he does sound like Jak 2 and 3 Jak.
Well, time to boot up the ol' ps2 to play these games~
+MetalPcAngel Or if you have a ps3, just buy the jak and daxter collection. :)
+Sir_Sniff-A-Lot i loved the games so much on the ps2 thati bought them for the ps3 as well so i could get the trophies...still working on jak 2s precursor orbs though those damn races/reverse races are the only thing preventing me from getting all three platinums
+Brandon Withnell There's an infinite orb glitch you know.
chris wilson i know, but it doesn't feel like an accomplishment if i cheat for it
+Brandon Withnell A completion is still a completion. You still earned it. If devs left it in like jak asses then it becomes a valid form of completion.
I don't know you guys, but I'm voting for a Sly Cooper video
+GJthelegend Ricordiamo Sly Cooper Origins
Jak X tho, fantastic racing game recommend you go play it if you haven't
+Sonicjamareiz IIX I feel like it was underrated, it's like the mario kart of the playstation 2 lol
Defo underrated
+tahu1235 I really wish I could've recommended this, but unfortunately, my disk was used when I got it and scratched to hell, so I barely got to play it. What little I could play was fun though :/
+Sonicjamareiz IIX I think it is the best racing game of all time IMO
+tahu1235 IMO better than mariokart could ever be
The Jak and Daxter series was my childhood, man. I completed 1-3 and replayed 3 a bunch as a kid. That series will stick with me for a long time.
This sounds like a series that I could get into. Should I try this series?
Yep
+Yoshifreak2000 I think there's a HD box set for the ps3 (idk about ps4). Jak 1, 2 and 3 included. Def worth the money.
hell yea but jak two is hard.
Eu Alex jak 3 is very easy.
Could you image an open world Jak game on the uncharted 4 engine
+Jordan Bell 18+
+Unlucky Jigglypuff lol
+Jordan Bell I would play it.
Calm down I can only get so erect.
Did you know
Jak II's first level with the red robot was the hardest thing ever in the history of ever?
True story
+Andre Smith Nah man, try MGS V mission 45.
I'm talking relative to age lol. The horrible camera angle made this mission terrible in the best kind of way
JustAGuy WithAController Oh my god, FUCK that tank.
Robot. . .you mean the tank?
What blew me away as a kid was the fact that the Jak 2 and 3 cutscenes were NOT pre rendered and actually rendered in real time on the PS2 (there's a glitch in Jak 3 where you can run around in some of the cutscenes).
As a ratchet and clank enthusiast I still miss the jak and daxter games. Maybe they will be reinvented like crash bandicoot but that is just a remaster but we can just be hopeful.
Really wish all the Jak ad Daxters had the same feel as the first one.
STRONGLY disagree, they're great and amazing in of themselves and fantastic when they try to be unique on what they're striving for in tone. It's a good thing to be unique for each iteration.
Ehh, they utilized the full console performance they were designed on
Disagree, the gameplay of 2 and 3 is more unique thanks to different 'feel'
YESSSSSSSSS I dropped everything when I got the update on my phone you uploaded this! I LOVE THIS FUCKING GAME!
I don't think the world is ready for a new Jak game where a hyper-realistic Daxter dabs after collecting a power cell
This would make an absolutely GORGEOUS remaster.
Was Naughty Dog named after Morgan?
+Sprited You might be on to something
No, I mean, morgan, being a DOG. Dogs are... naughty. EEEEEEE
+Sprited but they said she was a 'Good dog' soooooooo.....
Was that naughty in reference to courage the cowardly dig
+nick11crafter well I wouldn't call a dead dog naughty either
That Daxter redesign looks like Junkrat's fursona
That last concept for Daxter, at 6:20, at the top, looks fucken awesome though
Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, and Ratchet and Clank were my childhood
That sounds like the perfect ps2 nostalgia combo
Anyone else remember the standalone Daxter Game
it's only one of the best psp games.
if only my psp still worked I'd play through it...
+Simon The Digger I beat it! It's pretty good, seeing another side of Jak II, which is kind of one of my favorite games.
Ah, here comes the nostalgia..
Simon The Digger I just looked up the HD Trilogy collection for 360, I'm disappointed to see there's no collection for Daxter, Jak X, and The Lost Frontier. I need this, why hasn't this happened yet?
why does this guy sound so much like Adachi from persona.
+Sora busia Hey, he totally does!
+Sora busia Eh, too eccentric, needs to be a bit dampened with being stuck in a small town after living in a big city.
I was thinking more of jaco from dbz resurrection of f
Jak and Daxter was beautiful
Joe Mad and Mario 64 being inspirations is fantastic.
Michael Eyob is beautiful*
Jak 1 graphics were so op back then and still are
I'm 17, Jak and Daxter was released in 2001 and it was my very first Playstation game.
Jak and daxter 3 was my favourite
A moment of silence for thos ho palyed J&D frontier.
If Jak and Daxter gets a remake I wouldn't mind or a part 4
They got a ps3 remaster which was nice
Jak and Daxter is one of my favorite trilogy series franchises that I own in my collection of PS2 games. I'll play them again, that's how much I love them.
this made me so happy, i feel as if this game is forgotten about a lot, and it's probably my favourite game series!
Alright Naughty Dog. Hurry the fuck up. Fuck The Last of Us, and Uncharted. Give us another fucking Jak and/or Daxter game. I'd buy a PS4 Exclusively for that
thank you!
Ghost Of Nova's Past Fuck you. Last Of Us was a great game. Take off your nostalgia glasses
Preach
Did you seriously miss the part on the explanation for why they don't attempt to make a new game?
I'd be cool with just an hd remake of all the games
HELP! I can't vote for Crash D=
vote for crash!
+Karson Gameboy But the button doesn't work D=
What button?
At the end of the video you're supposed to click 1 out of 2 links to cast a vote, Uncharted's image has it's link, Crash's doesn't, so basically, We literally can't vote for Crash at all =/
+The Galling Ice Oh lol I'm on a phone so I can't even if I could lol
Loved 2 and 3. Only series they ever made that came close to being as good as Nintendo's. Jak 5 needs to happen ASAP. Might make me considered a PS4.
+MalikJC Sony has way better series than Nintendo.
Crash Bandicoot that's your opinion. This is mine.
+MalikJC jak 4 never happened. lost frontier is not jak 4 and even if its claimed to be nobody should accept that piece of shit game as part of the main series.
hhheeeccckkk526 come ooooon. It wasn't that bad? Was it?
+MalikJC it was average, but thats it. Mainly because it just felt like a psp game (this is coming from a big fan)
I would absolutely love to see another Crash Bandicoot video! That series was a huge part of my childhood.
I love this channel. You actually give interesting fact and knowledge and few channels do, Congrats :D
you also missed out on JAK X : COMBAT RACING and the psp game DAXTER
please NEVER use this narrator again
+ToasterRabbit why? fucking kat face
Yeah he's really annoying
+Aggu Kristian Don't imply being a homosexual is a bad thing. Don't get mad when other people express their opinion. Also don't breed.
+ToasterRabbit He sounds like someone doing a bad impression of Butters from South Park.
+ToasterRabbit Yeah, sounds like a poor imitation of the movie trailer guy on South Park. Rob Schneider is...a carrot etc
Part 2 pls 🙏😪
This was 2015, actually I would mind going back there....
Jak and Daxter: Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak 3, Daxter and Jak X where awesome. Enjoyed them all.
This series will always hold a special place in my heart.
All they have to do is port the graphics.
Fuuuuuturrre - they did it
Uncharted
Am I the only one who couldn't finish Jak 2 because it was too hard? -_-
+TheCarrotyfungus Jak and Daxter as a kid had parts that were difficult to manage as a babby whale like me :P the spider mines were not great for finishing in 1 either. Or perhaps im thinking the volcano area? Not sure.
Your not alone, Jak 2 was a chore to play imo.
+Nui Sance Hardest mission for me was disarming the bombs using the jetboard outside the fat guy's bar.
+TheCarrotyfungus i somehow managed to finish it.. took me like a year because i was struggling with the missions and i was too lazy playing it.. XD i think jak 3 was little easier.
i only beat jak 2 for the first time as a kid after getting halfway through 3, now though i can beat it fairly easily since i know the best ways to survive in the hard missions...now getting all those precursor orbs is still something i havnt done jak 2 is the only main jak game ive yet to 100%
such a sweet story about Morgan. what an awesome tribute too.
I just had to stop by and make sure I liked this video. Jak and Daxter are two solid heroes.
Yeah Niels comment doesn't age well.
Thank God Neil Druckman didn’t fuck up Jak and Daxter
I love Naughty Dog, but that proposed Jak & Daxter reboot looked like garbage. I'm glad they cancelled it.
This series, along with Monster Hunter and Pokemon, were my absolute jam.
I hope they get passionate about Jak and Daxter again, either way I love the stories they create.
