The spongebob games for gamecube were actually all pretty good. Everyone's personal favorite was Battle for Bikini Bottom, but the movie game, and Creature from the Krusty Krab were the shit! I even liked Lights, Camera, pants.
I liked CFKK too, but playing it again, it controls really oddly and feels kind of off. What I love about BFBB is that it felt like you were in the Spongebob series, like, the whole series. Like I was in Bikini Bottom itself. The movie game and CFKK, on the other hand, only feel like I was in certain stories.
+Michelle Lehto But that "weirdness" at points is what makes the Movie game and CFKK so unique and I love it. I just replayed CFTKK recently and I thought it still holds up.

It was a pretty neat game. While I did get the PS2 version and it WAS pretty buggy, I enjoyed all the levels and quests and such the game had. The music was nice to listen to as well.
+Mysterious Mouse I couldn't relate to critic reviews when it came to certain games. I remember Crash Twinsanity being buggy and rushed in certain areas and I still loved it despite what critics thought. I can't remember one Spongebob game I didn't love, lol.
there was a point in the game where you had to use the R3 button and as a kid i had no idea what that was so i never finished the game once i figured out what R3 was i got so angry.

People in the comments seem to be thinking Sakurai saying it was impossible to implement these characters was a matter of how they would play. It's a licensing issue, people. Multimedia characters are licensed and cross-licensed to hell and back, and getting another one in there could cause severe legal complications down the line. The reason characters like Pac-Man and Mega Man are in is because Capcom and Namco gave the go ahead. Namco actually helped entirely with the development of the latest Smash Bros. game. Anyway, the more you know.
Are you a hammer sir? Because you hit the nail on the head. To add to this, Super Smash Bros. is intentionally video game characters only. Primarily a celebration of Nintendo's own franchises, with a few guests, though only if they are notable to Nintendo and/or the games industry as a whole. Sakurai also doesn't add these characters because that's not what he wants for the series. A decision that I hope will be respected by whomever takes over the series once Sakurai finally decides to pass the torch.
i doubt were ever gonna get a new character for smash bros considering that sakurai is a cheapskate. maybe an amiibo costume if we're lucky. anyways, canada sucks. the more you know.

not gonna lie spongebob revenge of the flying dutchman for the ps2 was, and probably still is, one of my favourite spongebob and ps2 games of all time, me and a friend both completed it multiple times, god i loved that game
Back when I was still little kid, I was considered Revenge had a best graphic looking open world 1st before Battle for Bikin Bottom and Light Camera Pants! Not to mention the first music that played was so peaceful
when i was a kid i thought the movie game was so advanced and legit, not to mention WAY harder than BFBB was. either way, i couldn't make it past the second to last stage in the movie game and it took me 2 years to actually finish BFBB because i spent all my time exploring and doing all the fun atmospheric stuff. if they remastered i would flip.
+nerdculture13 when I was a kid I finished the movie game and I was so happy. I don't remember finishing BFBB and for some reason Creature of the Krusty Krab was really hard to find back then but I had it and it was great I just couldn't get past a certain level.
I liked Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, although I had the GameCube version, so that might explain why. Also, it's notable that the SpongeBob Movie game was also different on the handheld systems. On those, it was a 2D platformer, versus the 3D platformer on consoles and the point-and-click adventure on PC.
Po-Chop Goodness, I was racking my brains throughout this video to remember that title. It was a fun game, loved the puzzles and Easter eggs in it. Pity I lost the disc a long time ago.
the point-and-click spongebobs were soo good. they were short enough that you could blast through in a day if you wanted, but they were still enough fun that you could replay the whole game every few months for a couple of years without getting sick of them. it's a shame the small resolution puts me off replaying more than a couple of chapters these days...
I liked it as a kid, but I doubt it holds up as an adult. Battle for Bikini Bottom on the other hand I still respect as a solid game that though simple is entertaining and stays true to the source material.
I remember the arcade version! A local pizza place had it FOR YEARS and got rid of it recently. I was legitimately in tears. It also had Zim from Invader Zim.
HOLY SHIT DUDE Battle for Bikini Bottom & the movie game were my favorites when i was little, I replayed Battle for bikini bottom recently and it still holds up THANK YOU FOR SPONGEBOB GAME FACTS I LOVE U
BFBB was one of the first games I could get a 100%. I could only do that in Crash Bandicoot 2 and Jak & Daxter before that. Platforming games were my absolute favorite back then.
8:15 That’s not entirely true, Revenge Of The Flying Dutchman actually sold relatively well on the PlayStation 2, and Big Sky Interactive didn’t shut down because of the negative reviews for the game, they shut down because they were blacklisted by THQ, who wanted to buy the developers, but the devs refused.
KCHgamer I never understood the concept of saving as a kid so I never beat it lol. But I shit you not as a six year old I beat the story of jack n daxter in a day!
Peribow Yeah I loved it as a kid, but playing it now makes me wonder if they're more glitches that aren't documented. (Mostly due to the fact that I'm having way too much trouble finding Plankton in his stage for the last letter.) Never had that freeze issue on my ps2 copy though.
As i child i loved it. didn't even notice anything to bad in terms of glitches. Tried getting an emulator to play it but screen was black and fuzzy for any game i tried to play on the emulator
I actually liked revenge of the flying dutchman. Played it on ps2 and never had any issues while playing. Dunno if it has something to do with it being pal or not.
@@MidoseitoAkage I mean, SpongeBob is technically a video game character though. Besides, it seems stupid to be anal about such things, crossovers don't make sense anyway so it seems incredibly stupid and gatekeepy to say a character can't be in Smash because they didn't originate from a video game. Sorry, I respect Sakurai, but his reasoning on this seems really piss poor.
This entire video was a massive nostalgia trip for me. Most of these spongebob games I'd completely forgotten had played, and, as cliché as it may sound, literally had memories flooding to my head of playing these games when I was little. Such a simple time.
The movie video game is a lot more linear than BFBB, and say goodbye to the overworld. Also, Sandy isn't a playable character in the movie game. Still, the game has its perks, such the ability to upgrade SpongeBob and Patrick's abilities. And Patrick's cartwheel is pretty sweet. A good game, but still slightly inferior to BFBB in my opinion. Definitely pick it up if you liked BFBB though.
It's pretty much the spiritual successor. Not as good, but some neat additions and still fun. Patrick's cartwheel... Is fucking fun to use. I love that move.
Same here man. When the video was playing I was wondering why they didn't mention it earlier with Battle for Bikini Bottom. I was like "you missed the best one". when he said it was like critically acclaimed as being bad and helped shut down the studio I was going wtffff
Same engine as the Movie game. Imo it's better - Adds an open world, another playable character, more replay-ability, and bigger (and better) levels. The Movie game is pretty much its sequel... And BfBB is easily my favorite game. :P
Battle for Bikini Bottom is much better than the Movie game. Basically the only things it lacks are the upgrade system, and the levels dedicated to the slide mechanic. The game has so much more of everything else though. Tons of references to old spongebob throughout the levels, iconic locations like Rock Bottom, Goo Lagoon, The mermalair, and more. Also since it's open world and not a start-to-finish narrative, you don't feel super forced to go back to the older levels and get stuff. I recently replayed the movie game, and a few times, the requirements to learn the new moves necessary for levels are higher than if you got everything you possibly could at the time without replaying, forcing you to go back to the older levels. While there are things that you need to go back for in BFBB, the amount of levels and content makes it feel much more fun and evenly paced. tl;dr: You'll love BFBB.
Spongebob Squarepants Revenge of the Flying Dutchman is my favourite game for the Playstation 2 Apparently I own the one copy of the game that works? It's actually an amazing game everyone. maybe if you play it on german the game won't break xD

No, it's I may not be a lifeguard but I play one on TV, God, you potty mouth
Creature from the Krusty Krab. So many memories.
Peepers I hope THQNordic remakes that...
Actually playing that one NOW lol im on the 2nd Spongebob Chapter when hes in the Alaskan Bull Worm's Stomach lol
Lights Camera Pants was the best back then
^DIS
Aw yea
YES!
Silvinator that game was so fun but my game was scratched so it didnt really work
Silvinator and it's not now?
Wow, the nostalgia is real. I remember playing all of those games.
Good times, good times.
Battle for Bikini Bottom and The Movie were my shit.
Me too I still have a ps2
spongebob in smash bros just shut up and take my money
I think his special might be the bubble bombs or him in his karate gear.
+Joshua Armstrong duude, the karate gear would be so cool
0:47 anybody remembers that Scooby doo game? I replayed it recently and holy shit it's surprisingly good
I did. It's pretty solid.
My friend owned it back in the day. That game was great. Wish I owned it and got to beat it.
Scooby-Doo! Unmasked
Were great as well
There's a dumb glitch that's keeping me from beating it, but it is a fun game, one of the earlier gamecube games i remember playing as a kid.
Yeah, it's a really good game. I speedrun it, and the world record is currently 27:03, which is insane xD
not gonna lie spongebob revenge of the flying dutchman for the ps2 was, and probably still is, one of my favourite spongebob and ps2 games of all time, me and a friend both completed it multiple times, god i loved that game
I still have my Memory Card with it on 100%
i need to play it again
TheLankieMidget I know man
TheLankieMidget There b' Emulators.
Back when I was still little kid, I was considered Revenge had a best graphic looking open world 1st before Battle for Bikin Bottom and Light Camera Pants! Not to mention the first music that played was so peaceful
I don't even watch SpongeBob, and yet, I find these games amazing.
I like being both a fan of SpongeBob Sqauarepnats and Pac-Man Party! 😄
***** Ditto.
Watch it. First 3 seasons and the movie.
Wolfgang Amadeus true but I love all the seasons 😊❤️
Remaster battle for bikini bottom , spongebob movie game , and creature from the Krusty crab plz. It's spelled krab in the show right ? Yea I think so
I thought it had Krab not Crab in the name of the game
Creature of the Krusty Krab remake pls yes.
when i was a kid i thought the movie game was so advanced and legit, not to mention WAY harder than BFBB was. either way, i couldn't make it past the second to last stage in the movie game and it took me 2 years to actually finish BFBB because i spent all my time exploring and doing all the fun atmospheric stuff. if they remastered i would flip.
+nerdculture13 when I was a kid I finished the movie game and I was so happy. I don't remember finishing BFBB and for some reason Creature of the Krusty Krab was really hard to find back then but I had it and it was great I just couldn't get past a certain level.
Amon Yao
Spongebob on super smash Bros would be legendary
I liked Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, although I had the GameCube version, so that might explain why. Also, it's notable that the SpongeBob Movie game was also different on the handheld systems. On those, it was a 2D platformer, versus the 3D platformer on consoles and the point-and-click adventure on PC.
It was the same way for the Battle for Bikini Bottom game. 2d on the GBA, 3d on the consoles, and point/click on the PC
the gba ones were great
THE SEAHORSE SECTIONS MAKE YOU SO OP
Lights Camera Pants is the best game
Underrated party game imo, so fucking fun
Loved the PC version
the PC port and console were two separate games but they both kicked ass
EMPOYEE OF THE MONTH PC IS MY CHILDHOOD
YEEEESSSSSSS
Battle for Bikini Bottom and the movie game were my childhood. Those were two of the most challenging games I ever played as a kid.
The Fox I hated the final levels
Did anybody else play Employee of the Month?
i played the PC version
Yea PC version. Good game.
Po-Chop Goodness, I was racking my brains throughout this video to remember that title. It was a fun game, loved the puzzles and Easter eggs in it. Pity I lost the disc a long time ago.
omg i really wanna play it on my windows 10 oml
the point-and-click spongebobs were soo good. they were short enough that you could blast through in a day if you wanted, but they were still enough fun that you could replay the whole game every few months for a couple of years without getting sick of them.
it's a shame the small resolution puts me off replaying more than a couple of chapters these days...
...but I loved Revenge of The Flying Dutchman, and I had it on PS2 too :(
Wasn't expecting to see you here Evil Wizard!
It's my favorite game too
I liked it as a kid, but I doubt it holds up as an adult. Battle for Bikini Bottom on the other hand I still respect as a solid game that though simple is entertaining and stays true to the source material.
lights, camera, pants
I needed one more hidden jellyfish collect on that game... still haunts me to this day
These games were lit
Bedcorn fr
I remember the arcade version! A local pizza place had it FOR YEARS and got rid of it recently. I was legitimately in tears. It also had Zim from Invader Zim.
WHAT THE SCALLOP?! YOU ACTUALLY MADE A SPONGEBOB GAME VIDEO?!
Your so puny
BFBB is my favorite game next to LBP 2
Thank you, but that was a reference, not a pun...
Also, Krabs is a *dolphin noise*
It was already well established
*Looks at the 4th of July Easter egg*
*looks at date*
Me: MOM WERE ME GAMECUBE
"SpongeBob: Battle For Bikini Bottom" is my favorite SpongeBob game of all time!
Spongebob would have fit right in with Smash
No
That's a funny way of spelling "yes".
+Brobot 500 He wouldn't fit
We got our great icons of gaming:
Mario, Sonic, Megaman, PAC-MAN, and finally: SpongeBob!!!!
Omar Guillen
What would be his final smash though?
The only two (or three, depends) Spongebob games I have are:
1. Truth or Square (Wii and DS versions)
2. Drawn to Life: Spongebob edition (DS)
what about that one spongebob game when they go to atlantis? Or was that a weird dream that I had O,O
there was one that was based on the tv special
Firepony Gaming atlantis squarepantud
yeah that one!! I think we lost it but I remember failing countless times when I was young.
I had it for my ds I think.
Firepony Gaming That was my first DS game!
Who else is here because THQ is remastering Battle for bikini bottom?
@ChaosKirby Good. I was a little confused as to what they were doing
@@Agent_3141 remaster is improving the games graphics remaking is building everything from scratch using only the plot of the game as a baseline.
OMG! I didnt know that
Agent X then edit your comment!
2:17 that face is horrifying
For a sec I thought it was going to be nostalgia critic
who is that?
Me too lol
Thank god they didn't use that piece of shit.
Hey NC is a great reviewer
I don't know, Nostalgia Critic hasn't even done anything wrong...
HOLY SHIT DUDE Battle for Bikini Bottom & the movie game were my favorites when i was little, I replayed Battle for bikini bottom recently and it still holds up THANK YOU FOR SPONGEBOB GAME FACTS I LOVE U
I WANNA PLAY THOSE 2 AGAIN!!!! DX wait can i play it on an emulator?
have you heard the final boss music for the movie game? it's actually really good.
BFBB was one of the first games I could get a 100%. I could only do that in Crash Bandicoot 2 and Jak & Daxter before that. Platforming games were my absolute favorite back then.
Yeah, on Dolphin :)
I play BFBB like... once every two years and I enjoy it every time.
I use to own the Spongebob Flying Dutch Man PS2 game, the game would always crash or items you would need to progress wouldn't spawn or won't work.
Aww... I thought the title said Nostalgia Critic at first...
I know, right! I would love to hear Doug on a DYKGaming vid.
That won't happen since Doug walker, the guy behind the NC, isn't a Spongebob Fan
To be fair, he once did Pokemon and Sailor Moon as well. But I still doubt it will happen anytime soon.
it would have been worse then
They should get Doug for the Did You Know Movies stuff. Now that would be a video worth watching.
SCOOBY DOO night of 100 frights is such a good game. It took me forever to beat it though
As Did I
Sly Crafter First frights and spooky swamp were really good though...
KCHgamer I never understood the concept of saving as a kid so I never beat it lol. But I shit you not as a six year old I beat the story of jack n daxter in a day!
KCHgamer I downloaded a XB360 Emulator just to play BFBB and 100 Frights
WHAT?? Revenge of the Flying duchman was the best! how was it received poorly? I still sometimes play it now
Peribow Yeah I loved it as a kid, but playing it now makes me wonder if they're more glitches that aren't documented. (Mostly due to the fact that I'm having way too much trouble finding Plankton in his stage for the last letter.)
Never had that freeze issue on my ps2 copy though.
I had it and it never loaded even thoug the story is good It crashed.I sold it
As i child i loved it. didn't even notice anything to bad in terms of glitches. Tried getting an emulator to play it but screen was black and fuzzy for any game i tried to play on the emulator
I hated that game when I was younger and I still hate it now, but I respect your opinion because I enjoy Sonic 06.
Who came after the rehydrated/remake of the game reveal
Wow, didn't even mention Employee of the Month. That was my all-time favorite haha
Did you Know? SpongeBob is a sponge
TIL.
NO
Due to your profile picture I can deduce that you are 5, fuck off toddler.
The Hell Inspector no shit
Did you know? MY LEG!
Battle For Bikini Bottom was my childhood! Also, here's your next video:
LJN Games - Did
You Know Gaming? Feat. AngryVideoGameNerd.
Didn't they change their name to THQ later on?
Boxes World mine was truth or dare for the wii
MrGamer1992 No, but the person who founded LJN founded THQ and Jakks Pacific.
I’m ready rehydration. I’m ready rehydration
Holy shit, I wasn't expecting my own Let's Play footage to be used for this video! Thank you!
Which of the SpongeBob gameplay footage was yours?
I actually liked revenge of the flying dutchman. Played it on ps2 and never had any issues while playing. Dunno if it has something to do with it being pal or not.
I had the NTSC version and it never had any freezing issues either.
I actually loved Revenge of the Flying Dutchman as a kid and never had any problems with it!
I would have been so happy to see SpongeBob in smash
That will be the worst thing and even that will necer happen by fact Smash Bros is destined for Video Game characters only
@@MidoseitoAkage I mean, SpongeBob is technically a video game character though.
The robot bosses are for playable charactors. Maybe squidward was playable charactor at one time?
This entire video was a massive nostalgia trip for me. Most of these spongebob games I'd completely forgotten had played, and, as cliché as it may sound, literally had memories flooding to my head of playing these games when I was little. Such a simple time.
Question: I really enjoyed BFBB. And the spongebob movie video game for ps2 looks like it's similar in gameplay and style. Should I give it a try?
Yes!
It gets surprisingly difficult in the last levels, but it is a lot of fun
Sandwich Guy is it like a sequel since it uses many assets from the original game?
Sandwich Guy eh, anyone that could answer the question
Spongebob games were the best games for a TV show. I want a remake of BFBB.
I wanna go back and play my old spongebob games now. Thanks for the nostalgia.
Am I the only one who also wants a remake of the Spongebob Movie Game
No talk about Truth or Square?
Hm. Its only one of my favorite SpongeBob games...
Battle for Bikini Bottom was and always will be the best spongebob game
(Heavy Iron Studios') BFBB was and always will be the best Spongebob game (PC and GBA versions had different development teams)
Hillustration that explains why they’re garbage. Those aren’t the true bfbb
5:04 PERFECT TIMING, EITHER WAY!!!! XD
I liked the Revenge of the Flying Dutchman, however I can't remember getting past the city in it
I owned Revenge of the Flying Dutchman for PlayStation 2. Soo many glitches but it was worth it to me.
Revenge of the Flying Dutchman was my first ps2 game. I also had the movie game & bfbb.
Yea I liked revenge of the flying Dutchman. I never knew it got bad reviews..
666phoenix27 Me neither. I loved it
Same here man. When the video was playing I was wondering why they didn't mention it earlier with Battle for Bikini Bottom. I was like "you missed the best one". when he said it was like critically acclaimed as being bad and helped shut down the studio I was going wtffff
You did hear about all the bugs, crashes, and other problems with it, right?
Even with the bugs and crashes I still enjoyed the game.
Dude the Spongebob movie game was fucking great. Is BFBB worth trying?
Yes
Same engine as the Movie game. Imo it's better - Adds an open world, another playable character, more replay-ability, and bigger (and better) levels.
The Movie game is pretty much its sequel... And BfBB is easily my favorite game. :P
Kreature from the Krusty Krab is the best one.
The Me Guy I just started BFBB a few hours ago and haven't stopped playing. You are spot on man.
The fact that Viacom hasn't taken this down yet is a miracle
Spongebob Squarepants Revenge of the Flying Dutchman is my favourite game for the Playstation 2
Apparently I own the one copy of the game that works?
It's actually an amazing game everyone.
maybe if you play it on german the game won't break xD
degurkin ya i had for xbox work great
