  • Even as little as five minutes a day is enough to reap the benefits of a daily sketchbook habit. In the episode I explore the Hobonichi Cousin as a daily sketchbook, how I am using it, and the tools I find most useful. Mainly, I give another demonstration of what a daily intuitive art practice looks like. Join me as I paint and sketch!

Wonderful to hear/see your process. I used to do a lot of intuitive painting/drawing and I am inspired to pick it up again. I have been using my seasonal calendar with the daily Hobonichi challenge (florals for this month) and I love starting my day with a quick flower drawing and painting. I believe I spotted another thing we share ... was that Infinite Love Flower essence spray per chance? I so love them and Fierce Compassion is a new favorite. I am excited for your BIG project! Congrats and as always, thank you for sharing so generously your process and ideas and inspiration.

Lisa! I have been wanting to try Fierce Compassion. I was going to buy the elixir when I can manage it. I LOVE Lotus Wei, and Katie. ❤️. And I am so glad you are picking up your intuitive practice again. It is so so important to me, in my life. Love to you!

Lovely! Something about this one reminds me of Arthur Rackham's illustrations. Did you notice she's sitting on a mushroom? :-)

Ohhhhh you make me smile! I love Rackham! And I didn’t but I see it now. Thank you :)

I’ve come back to this three years later, and now I see a dragon’s face in the lower right corner. She is nestled on his neck.

Kateri, do you put any sealant over the pictures each day to keep it from smudging on opposite pages??

I don’t. However, I was thinking about it just yesterday and I am going to. Just a simple workable fixative. ;)

I'd like to try this. What paper would you recommend if I'm not using the Hobonichi planner?

    • @kateriewing

Try a good quality tracing paper....or a mixed media paper like Strathmore 500 mixed media. Truly, you can use any paper except copy paper, etc. Just use plenty of water! :)

What is the name of the paper in your book? I am wondering if it can be purchased as blank paper rather than lined.

      Hi Sandy,
It's called Tomoe River paper. They sell it, blank, at jet pens.com :)

Oh this is so wonderful. I remember the root babies. Children’s books are so wonderful and carefree, not inhibited. I have a photo of me, before I was even two, that this little face resembles. Not sure if you have ever seen it.
