Akashiya make stationery and art supplies and do those nice gansai selections, like Kuretake too. The little sets are often used for etagami. Thanks for posting this video, which is lovely, and gives a nice explanation of it. So hard to find out more. though I have seen examples online so your info is welcome. I had no idea you could get special paper. Hahnemuhle also do nice postcards in a pretty tin which can be reused. They have rounded corners. I would love to make a chop, so shall be looking in again. I need the ethos of etagami!

Very Beautiful...yes, I would be interested in making a chop...I have thought about making cards to send with messages to people. I save those cards that fall out of magazines and have a pile. Of course, will have to prep the surface first. I am also in the beginnings of decluttering, simplifying, taking steps to minimalize my life And have been searching the meaning of wabi-sabi, in life and in my art. Love this form of art!

thank you Kateri............so peaceful and relaxing.............it so spontaneous and there is a true beauty in that for me...............I've spent years trying to master Sumi-e painting and traditional watercolors, and often have felt overwhelmed..........when that happens, I tend to want to paint less as it is frustrating and not enjoyable...........I think that the best practice in learning is perhaps to allow some time for peaceful spontaneous work like this, and also devote at least some time to learning things that can be intimidating, like perspective, sighting (which so far I don't feel gives me good results, but I will keep practicing), loading of the brush with different colors to give tonality, etc.............it is all really beautiful and does have a place in the journey of learning.............but to spend at least some time, with no expectations, no do-overs, etc. can be freeing and quite lovely....................truly inspirational : )
Yes! This practice is for all people, including no professional artists and those who have absolutely no desire to be a professional artist. For me, my professional work is so refined and painstakingly created that I need practices like this to feel creative and free and joyful. It allows me to inhabit a different place as a creator, a maker. And it allows me to share my joy with others- the real essence of this practice.

where do you get an artist stamp?
I carved mine with a nail file into a piece of soapstone I bought at a Nepalese store in SoHo.
