    When I lived in Springfield Missouri, there was a shop that made custom stamps. I took in my design and they made me a small and a larger chop from that.. I use them in my artwork. Love this video.

      I love that! I like it so much better than a signature, for me personally. :)

    What perfect timing which makes me realize I need to go ahead and get one of these. I was just looking at these on E Bay, the other day and thinking how beautiful they were but wasn't sure if it was something I could really use so..... while you were talking about it and how to make it yours I designed mine with my first and middle initial and I love it and as soon as I get my sumi e ink stick I'll have the perfect ink to use for my stamp. Thank you for sharing this

    Thank you! I have had a blank chop for 15 years and thought I had to have someone carve it for me. I had no idea it was soapstone and that I could do it myself! Also, I LOVE your celtic design seal, that is really gorgeous and probably looks amazing in wax. Thanks again! Marina.

    Found your video for the same reason, not wanting to hand sign my work.
    Appreciate the information,

    I have been using a symbol that incorporates my initials, for a few years now. It took many years of various signatures for me to distil it down to its present form. I have thought about making a chop for it, but have decided that I like to actually draw it onto my creations. The idea of using an actual chop for some of the things I create is very appealing. I need to re-consider my choice of “drawing” my symbol. Thank-you for your wonderful video. I am now a new subscriber - 😊

    Thank you for this video! I've been wanting to find my own way to sign my art and I love the chop idea. I really appreciate your encouragement in that it can be a symbol too, not necessarily your initials. I'm going to take time to develop my own mark.

    Thanks. I had no idea soapstone was that easy to work. Or that an everyday implement could be used as a tool.

    What does CHOP stand for? I know what it is but is there a word for each letter in CHOP? Very curious? Thanks

      No idea. I googled it:

    You might not see this, but about using a wax seal with ink, I’d say be careful because some inks and some metals react to each other. Just check that nothing in the ink will corrode or rust the seal.

    How would you use this on oil paintings? Put paint on the back and stamp it?

    • @kateriewing
      @kateriewing  3 года назад

      Hmm. I really don’t know about oil paint. Maybe ask an oil painter? Or just try it?
