Which Platform do you wanna see the Sega collection on next? I said N-Gage in the video and I mean... I guess we COULD do that.
Xbox 360
GBA
Throw that in with the NeoGeoPocket and the Tiger Electronics Game.com and baby, you've got a stew going.
PS2
PS2?
Man i just want a Jet Set Radio Future port :(
You’re not alone brother
@@DazzzTube i don't own an xbox and never had the original but all the videos i seen look so good
@@ThatBlindGuy247 Man, just get the game and an OG XBOX or 360. You clearly need to _UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF LOVE_
@@deathmorphosis nah i haven't got money to be forking out on stuff like that
Isn't there an indie game that is basically JetSet Radio, that was announced recently?
Man I legit just replayed through JSRF like 2 weeks ago and it still holds up so well and is still one my fav games ever.
Panzer Dragoon, truly a cursed franchise. Also, I'm down for that N-Gage Sega video.
@Star Wolf 128 yeah as someone who loves both, a series having a few awesome games and vanishing forever is way better than a series continually producing worse and worse games until it's trash [even though I think Star Fox Zero is okay if you know you can press the - button to swap gamepad and tv screens back and forth instantly without having to look between the TV and gamepad over and over]
I think the prime reason it didn't sell is because, once again, NOBODY FUCKING HEARD ABOUT IT.
Nowadays, you can get away without advertising your game (much), but back then, it was crucial for sales if you wanted to actually compete with the more popular games. This is exactly why those old amazing games like Psi-Ops and Timesplitters never sold well during their run.
You know how I heard about Timesplitters? In a damn pawn shop.
Fun fact: Souls-like Let It Die has infact made continues microtransactions. Your nightmare is real and a few years old.
You can play that game completely fine without spending nothing, I haven't paid and I won the main history.
@@GenesHand sure but its still in the game lol. You can play most games with micro transactions "just fine" without them but it doesn't make their presence any less of a problem.
Greencapps if it doesnt affect the game why shouldnt developers be able to make more money? its a free game there has to be some microtransaction system.
@@MichaelSmith-fq5yr The balance of the game is designed around you dying enough that you want to pay for a continue so even if some day they made a stand alone release it's balancing would be wack as a result. I'd also argue that just cause a game is free doesn't make it impossible for the games microtransactions to be predatory, see literally every gatcha game ever made ever. Also because they chose to make the progression tied to microtransactions this singleplayer game is now tied to a central server and will one day just dissapear once that server goes down. So yea I'd say that calling it annoying is an understatement. I get that most of this is the nature of free to play games and that Let It Die was kinda an experiment into that market but still doesn't make it any less appealing to me. I'd rather just buy a full game if I'm gonna play it. But perhaps I'm an anomaly because free to play does extremely well.
I was 12 when I got my Dreamcast and I’ll never forget how much fun we had with it. My brother played the NFL 2K and NBA 2K games and I had Sonic Adventure, SA2 demo and Jet Grind Radio. After finding out that JSRF and Gun Valkyrie are pretty much dreamcast games I went out and bought an Xbox. Been having loads of fun picking up where we all left off. They had so much more coming up for the console in 01-02. RIP Dreamcast
Do GBA next, that one had a really interesting set of sega published games, including a game called Revenge of Shinobi that somehow is not a port of the sega genesis game of the same name.
Yeah, Austin. You should cover the Sega games for Game Boy Advance. Especially the Sonic Advance titles.
Astro boy Omega factor, incredible game incredibly expensive and hard to find.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu it cant be that hard to find considering I bought it for 5 bucks a few years ago.
@@michaelsriqui7898
That's just a lucky find. I haven't seen a copy anywhere that I can think of. I mean I'm sure GameStops had them and stuff but ever since that all went online I haven't seen one copy anywhere. Count yourself very lucky.
@DejaVoodooDoll
I still think Superman as a franchise is kind of cursed.
There has never been one truly good game with Superman as the protagonist.
SEGA is and always will be my favorite company and it was great to see these games mentioned as one. Dreamcast was amazing and is why I own most of these listed titles
Holy hell I forgot about Gun Valkrye until you started showing vid of it. I had the OG Xbox and the 360, so many melting memories of random games deep in the back of my mind...
Gunvalkery...Sega GT, Jet Grind ,Panzer Dragoon Orta and otogi all spent many hours in my OG Xbox
"...I do hear that the 3rd (Shenmue) game is soul shattering and will ruin your life"
Don't let super eyepatch wolf do your thinking for you
@Shaman Xeed you know whose video he was referencing
Shen Mue 2 was not a US exclusive it was released here in Europe too as I had it.
I think if they wanted Xbox to succeed in japan they should have had SEGA take the lead on distributing it in japan
Yep. Call it the Sega xbox
Fun fact: the artist for Spikeout: Battle Street also did the art for God Hand.
Sega re-released Jet Set Radio on Steam in 2011 with Sonic Adventure 1 and 2, NiGHTS into Dreams, Sega Bass Fishing, Crazy Taxi and Space Channel 5: Part 2 as a Dreamcast bundle. That's it though.
Jet Set Radio Future has never been ported though.
You had to go and remind me about True Fantasy Live Online, now I am sad.
It used to annoy me that I couldn't play all of the great new Sega games on one console back in the day since releases tended to be evenly divided between the Gamecube and Xbox after the Dreamcast went under.
The saddest thing is Sega's output has dropped dramatically after the Xbox/GameCube/PS2 era.
It's probably because they had a lot of games already in the works and had nowhere to put them after the Dreamcast died.
Still compared to the first five years after they became a software company compared to the last 15 their output is microscopic.
I think Shenmue 2 also had an Xbox version in PAL territories
It did. There are PAL versions of Shenmue II for Dreamcast and Xbox.
Heads up, Crazy Taxi 3 was also released on PC in Japan and Europe 2 years after the XBOX version.
With a community-made patch for modern systems called CT3Tweaks.
Lots of people just don't know this; I only found the port back in 2015, and the patch is very recent. (this year iirc)
I would be down for a PS2 Sega video, espically if it covers that weird Altered Beast remake
Spartan Total Warrior is one of my favorite games ever. One of the most underrated games imo, literally no one EVER talks about it.
I remember that game. You get to be a badass Spartan warrior slaying Roman soldiers and mythological creatures.
Way better than that devs recent games.
Genome Soldat I spent so much time in the Arena Mode just having random battles in the coliseum and other areas you could unlock during the game via random collectibles. The amount of people on screen and carnage were unreal for consoles at the time, shame it never got the attention it deserved.
Holly shit I thought I was the only one who knew about Spartan Total Warrior! It was my second favorite game in the xbox after halo 2
Saw “Sega” pop up in my notifications, did not hesitate to check it out!
I remember that Crazy Taxi 3 had a PC port, but is probably very likely to be extremely expensive or very rare to find aside from pirating it. There is even a community made patch that makes the game HD. Nice video!!
I got a copy of the JSRF/Sega GT 2002 purely for Jet Set, but that game didn’t work. I did learn that Sega GT 2002 has a killer soundtrack tho
PSP!
Mostly because I want to see somebody talk about VCII & VC3.
(Hey I bought a PSP just for Valkyria Chronicles II.)
3 never got an official english release (still to this day) also it had a sweet collection that included power stone 1&2 . Why has power stone 1&2 still not been put out anywhere else in the last 15 years?! unbelievable.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu And Crazy Taxi 1&2 (with option to add the real music). Many great DC games on PSP
@@_TheElMan
I was happy to see that the prinny games will finally be getting a port to the switch.
The fact it'll be one and two as a package is super cool.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu I really need to get those on Vita
@@_TheElMan
I mean they are pretty good they lose nothing from the translation from PSP to Vita if anything they get better.
I always looked at XBox as a continuation of Sega as cancelled Dreamcast games found their way to Xbox and the 360 had so many Sega games available to download on the arcade store... the xbox one kinda dropped the ball but at least it still gives us Phantasy Star and pretty much all the Sega games from 360s arcade store can still be played on Xbox One... also, Sonic games with a Xbox controller just feels right. Playing Sonic on a PlayStation controller of any kind has never felt natural to me
reason i got and kept my og xbox was because it was Dreamcast 2 in my heart and soul. weird tho i got a ps4 because cerny was an old Sega guy, so ive been with Sega in spirit forever : P
when i was a teenager i always thought xbox was a SEGA console !
The controller design probably contributed to that.
I thought the dreamcast was the ps2 before the real ps2 was unveiled.
Spikeout seems worth it just to see cute babies taking part in a street fight
Sad we will never have a port of Panzer Dragoon Saga, because Sega has lost all the source code and assets.
They either reverse engineer everything from the compiled binaries off of a Saturn disc (hope they still have one or they may add an extra $1400 to the project bill) or directly start a remake - I guess the second approach will be cheaper xD
The only thing that would of made the original xbox the perfect dreamcast 2 would of been either powerstone & powerstone 2 ported on a single disc or a powerstone 3.
I really like your profile picture, could you link the image
i love jet set radio future so much i get giddy when someone talks about it
Fuck yeah! I love JSRF!!!
Who's your favorite dance once you complete a level? Mines is tab lol.

Hey, Austin! You should cover every Sega game for Game Boy Advance.
THE EVERGRACE OST THOOOOOOOOO COME ON AUSTIN
I miss playing Otogi 1 on the Xbox, but god damnit I hated that NONE SHALL PASS boss, I immediately felt rage once I heard that voice in the video 😂
Crazy Taxi 3 was also released on PC.
Gun Valkyrie is giving me HEAVY EDF vibes.
ToeJam and Earl 3 > ToeJam and Earl: Back in the Groove
It doesn't help that back in the groove looks like a damn flash game.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu seriously! Or that it crashed and deleted my save after beating it. 😅

13:18 so you thought i wasn't gonna notice that sound clip from yume 2kki's space? finally i find a reference
so what im hearing is that BluePoint needs to port Otogi and Otogi 2? also nice joke with FGO Raikou there. that gave me a good giggle.
Thanks Austin for reminding me that we haven’t had a Crazy Taxi game in ages!
You can still get online with the Dreamcast using a Dream pi.
Aw yes, this is a video after my own heart. Dreamcast for LYFE!
1:58 Shenmue 2 Music
Austin is undoubtedly one of my favorite RUclipsrs I'm always excited to see he has new content. I wouldn't mind seeing more regular uploads like twice a month or even once a week would be awesome but always glad to see a video essay by Austin Eruption!!!!
I saw Matt McMuscles play Spikeout Battle street and I kind of loved it. So cheesy... I konda want to see how insane the story gets.
6:06 Simmons! LETS GO!
This is why I still use my Xbox One for most Sega games. The Xbox brand has always been the spiritual successor to Sega’s consoles to me.(the west market, of course)
I’m hoping the rumours about that Sega partnership is true. Would really cement that spiritual successor idea
Shocked you didn't mention the ToeJam and Earl prototype on Dreamcast.
2:03
YEAH! Spartan total worrier, alright!
You know, it's kinda weird Sega put so much support towards the Xbox, but didn't port SA1 or SA2. It would've been much closer to the Dreamcast versions due to the increased power of the Xbox compared to the Gamecube. (I know the GCN is more powerful than the DC but, the DC's lighting effects were better than the GCN and PS2, so lighting was kinda broken on SADX and SA2B). Maybe they wanted a portable Chao system to match the VMU, and the GBA was a good fit. Microsoft didn't have any dedicated handheld, especially one that connected to the Xbox *iirc.* I still had tons of fun on the Dreamcast and Gamecube versions of SA1 and 2 though lol
I wish jsrf had canera control. Without it, it can get messy
In the beginning you mentioned that xbox has always a hard time in Japan. That is kinda changing actually. Preorders for the Series X/S have been a lot better of there. Due to game pass and good hardware.
a very interesting video I have never thought of the original xbox as the spiritual successor to the dreamcast but after watching this and seeing how many sequels to sega's games ended up on here yeah it is kind of true and blows my mind it was fun to learn about this console and sega's history with it since I never owned or even knew anybody with an original xbox
Man I always wanted to play Otogi, but never had an Xbox . . . .
Austin: I hope they don't make continues micro-transactions in games
Game Companies: write that down, write that down!
*EA
I spent so much of my youth on that Sega Racing/JSR dual pack.... also Mad Dash Racing. Great video Austin!
I will always remember outrun for keeping me from becoming the Real estate King in Yakuza 0.
Wait I do think you missed Panzer Dragoon Orta
You may not know anyone who can use the Duke, but I actually have Duke hands. RIP Duke.
21:01 Don't give greedy publishers any ideas.
I still have my pack in version of JSRF
who was able to get footage of the Rent a Hero game with no Xbox emulator existing???
did they manage to reverse engineer the rom back in to a Dreamcast rom?
the funny thing is that my aunt had the Jet Set/GT combo for the xbox she had in the house
but i only ever played Sega GT
ToeJam and Earl 3 isn’t too bad, I had fun with it. JSRF was my jam, I had the split game with Sega GT and I never touched Sega GT. But, Panzer Dragoon Orta, that was one of my favorite games on the Xbox, as a child it was the most badass thing ever
Crazy Taxi 3 also has a PC port, shame it isn't sold on Steam. Actually, there's a bunch of SEGA games ported to PC around that time, there's Sonic, obviously, but Billy Hatcher also has a PC Port
Its such a great lineup of games. Sega sadly hasn't matched that kind of consistent quality. Or even tried that hard.
And don't forget about House of the Dead 2 and 3 Return on the original Wii
On the Dreamcast!
Listen, I'm not saying you _should_ do an N-Gage video, because no one should have to put up with that, but... it WOULD be pretty rad.
happy you got a real haircut my dude
Its the same one LOL
@@austineruption consider it a compliment I guess
Man I got a ways into JSRF before my mounting frustration with the controls, map, and Birthday Cake made me give up the game right after Helicopters became a gameplay consideration.
I love you so much for covering this!!!!
I _do_ kinda wanna see the N-Gage stuff tho, I was like one of the 10 people on earth who had the thing because my parents were like "Oh we don't need to pay for any consoles if we get our kids these game phones" 😂
Shenmue 2 (Xbox) also got a Pal release. Yes that means we got it on both Dreamcast and Xbox.
R.I.P Dreamcast
Your hair looks great! Great video btw :D
This might be one of my fave videos of yours since I remember buying up a lot of these and having a great time with all these Sega games on the Xbox, GunValkyrie was fun but tough, Otogi 2 was one of the stranger games I came across but enjoyed, until I lent it to someone and they never gave it back :(. Jet Set Radio Future will always be my fave game on the xbox
There are just way too many games stuck on consoles that have not been re-released.
The Sega ones stuck on original Xbox are definitely some of the saddest.
Otogi was amazing! damn I miss that game
Once again I'm just amazed none of these games have been re-released.
I mean they just in the last year re-released that Japan only US president in a mech game from fromsoft.
Maybe eventually we'll get an Otogi collection even if knowing our luck it's a switch exclusive.
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu Man im asking for that for long i even wrote to the Xbox director to at least make Otogi 1 and 2 playable on Xbox one X which would be enough for me as it improves resolution and framerate and maaaan i need that Performance boost for Otogi 2... game is so amped but also so laggy when everything starts to explode.
As someone who used to live in Japan I can safely say only gaijin bought an Xbox 😅

"Sega didn't had any other franchise that were side scrolling beat-em ups that took place on the angry streets"

I hope we get Dreamcast and early 00’s Sega games on the Switch
lol that german ToeJam & Earl cover XDDD
You've gotta sleep better, judging by those eyes.
Great video but btw u forgot to mention Halo as a SEGA/OG Dreamcast title as it was originally supposed to be on DC
Awesome video and great haircut
Making my Friday awesome, thank you Austin
"It was destroyed critically"
Then shows the metacritic score which shows it was not.
Okkkkkaaaaay?
17:30 As the source code for PDS was lost ages ago, there won't be a port of this game like, ever... -_-
When you called the third "III" game cursed I laughed a long audible chuckle. I thought you meant Dino Crisis III, oops lol
It's so weird, I've played so many of these games you mentioned lol. I'm a super fan of Jet Set Radio Future
Apparently Illbleed was going to be remastered for the original Xbox but was scrapped due to the company going under and the creator's death.
Man, I remember playing Otogi at my uncle’s house. I’d love to see them port that game and a ton of these old Sega games. Come on, Microsoft and Sega: Just give me a “Sega Xbox Collection” or some shit like that, or just make them backwards compatible so I can buy them. lol
I never even knew that ToeJam and Earl III existed. Wild!
@5:57
Deku... is that you? 😂
Jetset Radio Future came with my Xbox back in the day & I loved that game even though it took me awhile to understand wtf was going on. Lol
