I turned a podcast about being a dad into an adventure

  • THE INCONVENIENT PODCAST: This bloke Hamish Blake, who I’ve never met, emails me and says ‘come on my Podcast to talk about being a dad’. Sure, I say, but what about I film a whacky adventure on the way to the studio with my daughter so we have something to talk about? Hamish thinks this is a great idea and suggests he does the same with his kids and we meet halfway between his place and mine. Google tells me the halfway point is 345 km from each of us, which happens to be a lake, and on that lake is an island. How bloody perfect is that! Off we set to record the world’s most inconvenient podcast.

If there's one takeaway from this video, it's that everyone is just winging it and praying it works out, that's the beauty of life! We don't always have to know exactly what we're doing or where we're going, as long as we remember to stop, smell the roses, sing with the animal bones, and enjoy the beauty of the journey! That's what matters, that to me is how you win at life - just enjoy it, mistakes and triumphs alike. All the best, I'm sure you're doing great 😄

Some places have buddy programs for kids who don't have dads, so they can have a good male role model in their life.
Or just be present and helpful to parents around you. Offer to carry the heavy pack and accompany them on their next adventure.

Man, I’ve seen all of your videos and this has to be one of the best! Your videos got me through some dark times during a hospital stay and you have inspired me to start a RUclips channel to tell stories like this. Hopefully we’ll get to work together one day!

I've been watching this channel since the first "A mile an hour" video, and while pretty much every single one has been great, this one is just absolutely amazing. I had a smile on my face the whole time.
Thank you Beau, and keep at it.

It's too easy to get yourself set on an end goal and focus on planning out all minor details so your children don't have to deal with the repercussions, that you often forget that they're just excited to be doing something with you and experiencing new things!

You interacting with May reminds me a bit of me and my dad when i was younger, hes a stoic handy man but who is wise to the soul, never hesitated to have fun with his daughter. It makes my heart warm. I have never gone camping with him but he has taught me so many things i have found and will find valuable in life, much like your channel. Thank you Beau.

Ha ha ha. I started Glastonbury with a hamstring injury. Pulling on of those garden kart for the 5 days. Had my 5 and 7 year old with me. Every night had to drag that kart with both boys asleep in it. Ended up twice as strong with no hamstring problem. Lovely adventure, thinking about planning some more with mine.

I watched this last night and was left with a longing for an adventure with my boys. I was able to capture a small bit of it today when I went on a field trip with one of my boys and I stayed with him as he lagged behind as he tried to take in all of the exhibits while most of the rest just kept moving through, and then we spent some extra time to get some pictures he wanted and explored some of the surrounding area. It was great to capture that small moment of connection with my son so soon after. Thank you for putting stuff like this out.
