    If only all cops were this proficient. I'm an elementary teacher and a firearms instructor outside of school. It gets infuriating being unarmed while our 60 year old school resource officer doesn't take training seriously.

      @stevo4535 I can't. I'm a firearms instructor too and staff members know. My one SRO actually knows and was asking me about recommended ranges to train at. Would he arrest me if I broke the (unconstitutional) gun free zone law? I don't know. But I'm not willing to risk that.

    • @jw5297
      @jw5297 Год назад +1

      @@ericraymond1274An SRO means absolutely nothing if they cannot perform.
      Our area always wants to hire retired officers.
      While I commend the thought, the reality is they are ineffective for the job, they cannot relate to the kids, they see grandpa, an SRO is there for more than stopping an active shooter, they have to be able to bond with and garner respect from the kids. Which at 60-70 years old they don't, it's not like growing up in the 70's&80's, they don't respect authority anymore.

    When your first learning to shoot fast, it almost feels like your out shooting your aim, and shooting before you see your dot on target. But actually your aligning your trigger pull with your fundamentals. Get the extra movement out, get as fast as your muscles can move you, and pull that trigger slightly before full extension, it all lines up to the bullet leaving the barrel at the earliest possible point.

    As a left eye dominant shooter. I solve most of the issues he was experiencing by having my right foot be my lead foot. This gives me the same stance as a left handed shooter. Yes I do present my holster to the threat. But I am always cognizant of that. I shoot long gun left handed and pistol right handed due to my left eye dominance. Having my right foot lead allows me to have the same stance with long gun and pistol.

    Just an observation... the fellow that is cross eyed dominant, I would be interested to see if his vest/plate carrier was limiting his mobility causing him to subconsciously stop his arms before the gun gets to eye level. He's a good size dude and that vest was as wide as his shoulders. I'd be interested to see if he shot without the vest, if he wouldn't have to dip or move his head in order to see the dot. I think it's partially a gear issue. Just a thought. As always great stuff! I learn so much for your content. Thanks Mojo!

    I've been hit with a jacket too. It was from a 16" AR shooting 5.56, I was roughly 25m from the target and caught a small piece of jacket on my cheek directly below my right eyeball. I wasn't even the one shooting, i was loading a mag watching someone else shoot and it dinged me. That folks is why you always wear eye pro while on the range especially shooting steel at relatively close distances. Should we have been shooting 5.56 at steel 25m away? Probably not, but I've done it a ton of times and other than that one time have never had any issues.
