I love the cold start vids. This one is timely because I did work with my vis laser earlier this week, having not done so in a few months. I had to relearn a few things. Also, this video makes me think I need a MAWL, but damn.
I have not been to the range in 4 months. Bought a house and I am dying to go. Watching this should motivate me. Plus my range is 60 miles away now

Scrounging up $25k of which I started with $8k buying, inspecting……..closing…… moving out of a house Id been at 10 years( tinkerer , reloader, mechanic, commercial refrigeration Tech….. moving in, unpacking, upgrading. I finally made it yesterday and had a great time on the rifle range with a x SWAT guy. Started setting up the reloading room and the “itch” was real. Lol. Ran 4 mags thru my G-19. Flawless. Feeling much better.
Also had just moved my ACOG to my go to and Im glad I did. That beeatch was 2’ high and 1’ right 😂😂😂😂. Hostage situation would not have ended well

Dbal A3 is my current favorite, full power laser the 50/50/200mw model specifically. Vis green laser in easily visible at 150 yards in daylight. Then at night I feel that 200mw illuminator eclipses the mawl when shooting distance at night. Mawl is nice for a low profile package though.

One of the reasons I like my Holosun LE221 is that IR and Vis are coaxial and positioned over the bore.
Mojo: Knowing that the weapon is vertical then hold will be different than the slight cant. It was canted so the hold will be slightly to the left.

I remember way back in circa 2002 when I was a young MP on our SRT we acquired the internal LaserMax system for our M9’s. For the individual users it was fine but someone had the bright idea to order us the strobing version. The first real test of the system was when we went to the nearby Chair Force base to learn how to do aircraft assault (we had an airfield on post) and we were inside a Herc and we decided to see what it was like and kinda show off to our AF brethren.
Oh. My. Goodness! When it was 1 or 2 guys it was manageable. When the entire team was on target it became totally unrealistic. Maybe if we had the solid beam it would’ve been better, but we simply implemented an SOP that no more than 2 beams on target at a time.
Your PEQ is meant for designating in combat primary not necessarily for law enforcement purposes. Not saying it can’t be used but primarily it was created for combat. Used mine in Iraq and Syria, worked well.

Hey Mojo, great vids. What area in WA do you shoot in? I’m in norther Snohomish area and having a hard time finding places to train.
On avg, how many rounds do you take to train with?
250 of each bro. Rifle and pistol
Depends on your ammo budget and training plan. As long as each bullet has some type of training value behind it, ie: not blowing it mag dumping trash, then its not a waste. Lots of weapon manipulations, reloads, presentation, transitions, and etc can be done as dry fire in the comfort of your home. That way when you go to the range, you can focus on the shooting part. Managing recoil, improving pistol grip, training holdovers/height over bore. I like to start the range day with those high standard drills as my cold start. Bill Drills, FAST Drill, Eleanor Drill, etc. Use that to see where you improved from last time and where you can improve today. If your Bill Drill was 10 seconds and your goal was 8, then see how much time was taken by the draw, and how much by your splits between shots. If the draw is slow, then you know to improve draw (do some at the range but do most at home dryfire.) If your splits are slow, then work on doubles but keep your accuracy standard. etc. Its not about how much your bring that will make you good, its how much you make of each round. Some days its 100, others its 500.

I actually just just got a boar this weekend at about 25yds with my IR laser under a pvs-14. It felt like cheating but it worked phenomenally.

Nobody ever thinks they need backup irons until they do. This is a hard lesson to learn for some. I really hope it's not during a life or death situation.
Always put them on mine. I had an optic go down once with no irons at a range day. I've never been against irons, but this gun just didn't have them at the time. Well, that was the end of a range day! Lesson learned: going without irons can either ruin your day of fun, or your life depending on the situation.
Gone are the days of unreliable optics. Sure nothing is as reliable as irons but as the man said he has THREE aiming solutions. It would be absolutely ridiculous to cram irons with an acog, red dot and a visible laser lol.
@@RunningWithSauce A laser that half of them can't see is not a reliable aiming solution. And while optics are generally reliable, they DO go down.
A great anecdotal bit of evidence I personally have to illustrate exactly why backup or co-witnessed irons are still necessary regardless of what electro optical devices you have strapped to your long gun is this:
My best friend has been a cop in Florida for 6-7 years. He's always wanted to be on SWAT. Initially during his SWAT tryouts, while prepping for them, I mentioned to him that he might want to ensure he had backups in the event his optic went down. As part of being on SWAT is making sure you are prepped from the ground up to always perform, because your entire teams safety depends on it in the real world. Naturally he regurgitated some ridiculous nonsense he had heard somewhere (as you have) about optics being the bees knees.
Needless to say that dead in the middle of the shooting for his tryouts, his optic died. It's battery had failed. He failed that tryout because he shot like garbage, and was likely to be found unprepared, and therefore dangerous.
He retook the test later down the line when they had another team opening, wherein he ran backup irons, and conveniently, DID NOT need them. He also made it into SWAT. But he forever learned his lesson, and told me he regretted not taking my advice when offered.
Again, the whole point of my original comment still stands. Schmucks who've never been there NEVER think they need the irons. But it's a hard lesson to learn for some. I just hope you don't have to learn it when your life is on the line.

Low ready is anywhere that's below directly in the shooter's face, or seeing the dot/reticle. Yes there is an official point for it, but if you followed that every time, in his line of work, you'd probably die or worse.
