For some reason this is my favorite video of yours ever genuinely made me so happy to see all those people running and completing that race and everybody that came to support you and their families and friends
Hi Casey. First of all I want to thank you for inspiring so many people to vlog about their lives. You inspired me and I'm still doing my vlog 7 years later. Second congratulations on finishing the NYC marathon. This year was my 14th and by far my slowest time. It is a crazy thing to do, always painful and potentially dangerous. I started in the 5th wave and given my pace I knew I'd be coming in after dark. I FELL at mile 20 just as it was getting dark. I tripped on a pothole and went down. At my age (75) falls are a big deal. Fortunately nothing broke. There was no blood, just a bruise on my shoulder and a bunch of black nails on certain toes. I walked the rest of the way. I will do it again because it was the most fun marathon too. As you said, the crowd, the workers and volunteers were fantastic. There was a lot of love.
It’s not about the amount of time, it’s about the fact that you made it Casey. Don’t be disappointed by the time, but cherish the good moments along the way and that feeling of joy when you crossed that finish line. We love you Casey 💯
The amount of energy it takes to pull off your life and deliver like you do on a daily basis completely reshaped my understanding of what a single human is actually capable of. Humbling, eye-opening to say the least. Lately in a conversation with my 16 year old son (who loves hip-hop) he asked me about my definition of the term "keeping it real". I told him go binge watch casey instead of netflix.
Thank you for creating this video! This was not only my first NYC marathon but my first marathon period! Knowing that I wasn’t the only one that got beat up by the heat reassured me hugely. The best experience of my life by far!
This is hands down my most favourite vlog you’ve ever done. I love the storytelling, the people encouraging you on, the way it’s shot. Just brilliant. It’s good to have you back in NY Casey. Welcome home.
Man, such an inspirational video! Thanks to all of you who waited there for hours to record just a gilmpse of Casey, helping him to accumulate all these clips into such a blissful video. Love you Casey! Love you dear citizens of the world!!
Thats a best marathon vlog i ever see :) 5 years ago I start running because of you and still running thanks for that Casey. I hope some day i can run NYC marathon.
Yes this video didn’t disappoint! The people of NYC pulled through!!! Again reviewing and going thru all those messages to get the videos from spectators is incredible Casey! Awesome vlog!
Watching this made me feel so emotional because my father died at a 6k race, he was the healthiest person I’ve ever known, and this video showed me how he gave all his effort to do something to prove himself
The storytelling is on point. As a former photojournalist Casey you are my hero. I never understood why so many people were into your channel because I never really watched but once I took the time you won me over fast. I’ll never leave now. Great job and great run my friend.
Absolutely loved this video Casey! It perfectly summed up the whole race day for me. The crowds, the course, the support on the course from the runners and volunteers - none of that was overshadowed by the incredible heat and humidity that we faced. I was about 45 minutes slower than what I'd trained for, yet I'm not disheartened - it was still the New York City marathon!
I can't describe this emotion. I think it's your editing, your music choice, your statements and theology with everything you do. Perhaps it's the idea that I want to live in NYC one day. Perhaps it's the idea that I feel so proud of people who can run 26.5 miles, when I, myself, can barely do 1. I almost started to cry at the end of the video because it was such a...happy, but sad, video. I'm a new subscriber and I've been binging a lot of your videos for a few weeks now. You seem so excited and optimistic with every video you put out. But, this one. This one right here. It felt like you were very sad, or at least disappointed in yourself. The end card when you mentioned that this was your slowest race: For some reason, that hit me. Again, I can't really explain it, but in that moment, I felt more connected with you than I have before watching the other videos. Just, the sheer storytelling, and videography in your videos - the music choice -- everything. Incredible. Simply, incredible. Thank you for being you, Casey.
As a runner, this video and everything about it resonates so hard with me. The joy, the pain, the nervousness... Man, hits ya right in the feels! 5 years ago I'd never have imagined running a marathon, and having just completed my first half marathon a month ago, it's videos like this that REALLY make me want to run the marathon, especially in a big venue with NYC or Boston. Man, what a thrill that would be! GREAT video @Casey, as always!
I'm not going to lie, this was one of the most rough Marathons ever, not only is it uphill it was unusually warm around 70⁰ F and also it was very humid, just finishing this race is an insane accomplishment! The course is very hard too with the beginning being an uphill!
The Downhill on the second mile is where it began hurting. I expected the uphill and just went slow. My legs were like hamburger after the downhill mile, though. Did not see that coming!
Casey has a talent for curating videos that give you such a rounded whole understanding of what he is doing, all while inspiring you to get involved with challenging yourself and becoming better than you are today. Man has some serious skill.
Very true. I always come away wanting to sell everything and live in a tiny apartment in Manhattan just to experience a fraction of what Casey experiences.
Maybe your best video ever, i finished 10 marathons, 5 Ironmans and a lot of halfiron races, but feelings like here in this video… you will remember that forever! Not your best races are the best races, the hardest are the bests. Sometimes at the finish line, you are frustrated, but a few days later you realize what you achieved. Cheers from the other side of the planet! I love you
The fact that you ran a marathon AND made this video within, like, three days is an incredible feat! You're a legend. Enjoy some much-needed R&R, Casey.
Wow!! This made me feel much better about my race, I also thought my first marathon was the hardest thing I’ve ever done and no other race will ever come close but this years marathon did. I knew I was in trouble in mile 1. I felt my first cramping at mile 10 and like you, started to walk at 13. But I always wanted to run NY for fun, so once I was done at mile 13 I decided to make it my fun year and I had a lot of fun with it. Got to actually stop to hug all the friends that came out to cheer for me.
this video has me in tears and i don't know why. it just inspires me to such great volumes. i hope i one day compete in the nyc marathon and complete it.
This was a totally moving and motivating video Casey. Despite all the challenges you made it and completed the entire marathon and that is huge! As with all of life we can get curveballs thrown our way and it's what we do with them that counts! You persevered and no matter how difficult things got you adapted and kept going and that shows such a fabulous and valuable inner strength. Not that I am surprised! Thanks for the awesome video and it's so cool that so many people were filming and could provide you with video clips! That's so kind! Be well!! 🙂
I've signed up for my first ever 5k in January. I've been super nervous about being ready, or doing well. I've had things delay my training, and it's been really difficult to get back into it. But seeing you show the realities of doing something like a full Marathon, is giving me that push I need to get back into things and get ready for my race in January. Congrats Casey!

As a 2 time NYC marathon finisher, I felt every second of this video. You also finished with the same time of my worst finish for NYC. NYC you have to prep for, the course especially the bridges and 5th Ave incline will eat you up. But no marathon has better support. The spectators, the volunteers and the varied scenery of every borough is second to none. You have motivated me to run it once more lol

This is making me wanna pick back up running (even though I know my arthritic knees are quaking at the thought of it). Congrats, Casey! Not every day is a good day, but you persevered, and that shows a lot of mental strength!
Congrats Casey! I did my 5th marathon this October in Europe (Budapest), and I experienced the same. Struggling after 21k, running my worst marathon ever, and I was unable to overcome my difficulties. Luckily, I finished the race that kept me motivated and gave me the main takeaway: If we want it enough, we can do it! Cheers from Europe!
Your vlogs were the reason i started running man, seeing you back in New York and running gives me immense hope and joy. I'm training to run a Sub-3 in 5 months, thank you for the inspiration!
Excellent video Casey and a solid job! This video was in actual fact more inspiring than your last NYC marathon video (the one that inspired me to fly 3000 miles to run it with my mrs in 2018) .This video showed that you are human and that finish time is only relevant to the person. The real value is the humanity in a marathon. I have never experienced such an uplifting atmosphere as I did at the NYC marathon, it restored my faith in humanity. The energy and support from fellow runners and the spectators has to be witnessed to be believed. Thank you for being honest about your run… hopefully see you on the tarmac at a race some day :) Scott & Kat UK

Fantastic! Will you be doing another marathon? 🤔
This is hands down my most favourite vlog you’ve ever done.
I love the storytelling, the people encouraging you on, the way it’s shot. Just brilliant.
It’s good to have you back in NY Casey. Welcome home.
The connection Casey has with the people that enjoy his work is out of this world
I’m not a runner or a filmmaker, I’m not even in the US but I cried watching this. Thank you
I have been crying the whole way through! So emotional watching you push, and thousands of people cheering everyone on. Beautiful editing!
I thought I was the only emotional one watching! 😂
Man, such an inspirational video! Thanks to all of you who waited there for hours to record just a gilmpse of Casey, helping him to accumulate all these clips into such a blissful video. Love you Casey! Love you dear citizens of the world!!
Big facts, this dude been such an inspiration for years. Makes me want to start running again
I'm so sorry. 💛
@Capital Reckless unfortunately yes :(
Congrats! What an amazing accomplishment (again). I'm in awe of anyone who completes a marathon no matter the speed.
Casey shows respect to every person he meets. Acknowledge them all and make them feel good. I love him!
70 is not hot
@@mellissamercado7904 it is when you are acclimated for cold weather and you are running 26.2 miles, it gets warm fast
Wait, the NY Marathon is more UPHILL?
Casey has a talent for curating videos that give you such a rounded whole understanding of what he is doing, all while inspiring you to get involved with challenging yourself and becoming better than you are today. Man has some serious skill.
Very true. I always come away wanting to sell everything and live in a tiny apartment in Manhattan just to experience a fraction of what Casey experiences.
Can’t explain the feelings and nostalgia i’m getting from these NYC vlogs again, thank you Casey !
I love you
Thanks for watching
DM me above to acknowledge your package 🎉
The fact that you ran a marathon AND made this video within, like, three days is an incredible feat! You're a legend. Enjoy some much-needed R&R, Casey.
Not taking away any accomplishment but he has a team - plus VIP access
Its great to see your fanbase come together just to support you! Really shows how you change someone's personallity and life!!!🔥❤️👑
13 miles is nothing to be ashamed of. I can barely complete a 5K.
Awesome, just awesome. I loved this quote 9:26 "We may be dying, we're not dead yet".
this video has me in tears and i don't know why. it just inspires me to such great volumes. i hope i one day compete in the nyc marathon and complete it.
The fact that you credited all those people to the best of your ability shows what an awesome human you are. Cheers!
Be well!! 🙂
An amazing video full of emotions. Awesome storytelling.. Classic Casey.
Good to have you back man!
his ability to tell a story is next to none
I've signed up for my first ever 5k in January. I've been super nervous about being ready, or doing well. I've had things delay my training, and it's been really difficult to get back into it. But seeing you show the realities of doing something like a full Marathon, is giving me that push I need to get back into things and get ready for my race in January. Congrats Casey!
This stuff always gets me emotional. The collective positivity that breaks down divides is something special. Great story telling from Casey as usual.
This has to be one of the coolest things I have ever seen on RUclips... And I can't believe I had to search for it.... Thanks RUclips you keep failing me.
Clapping for you and cheering you on while listening in my car. Watching you accomplish this feat brought me to tears. Love you and your content Casey!! Living vicariously through you being back in New York City!
‘We may be dying. We’re not dead yet.’ Man I started crying when the dude said that
As a 2 time NYC marathon finisher, I felt every second of this video.
Not lol
Try London
It is indeed and amazing race with incredible support! London, Boston and Chicago also have great support, but nowhere near as big as NYC 🏆
@@PoetWithPace Boston was amazing too. I loved that it’s a holiday for the city.
@@moob7383 oh yes!
why am i in tears😭😭😭😭 casey you are truly my biggest inspiration!!!! just seeing how much support you got along the entire way & the fact that you had so many videos that you scanned through and included in your video…. a literal legend 🙏🏼 we love you casey!!!!!
you are also seen
I ran my first marathon this year, it was one of the hardest but rewarding things I have ever done. This video got me back in my feels about crossing the finish line in London. Well done Casey, even though it was your hardest one yet, you still smashed it!
Glad to know that I wasn't the only one who got emotional while watching this video. You are an absolute inspiration! Congrats on finishing one of the hardest marathons.
I started running about 5 years ago and back then I would often use your motivational videos to hype me up to go running and it was one of the best habits I ever picked up! And seeing you still not give up gave me so much goosebumps that I so badly want to run even though Im lying sick in bed
I started to run after watching Casey's video as well. His videos are so inspirational!
I just can't express how much this inspire me! I cried watching this. Thanks for sharing your vision of the world, I'll will be always grateful with life for allowing me to see your work.
I’m shocked he ran with that camera THE ENTIRE run. People don’t realize, even having a wallet in your pocket can be so much weight, add so much exhaustion to an already strenuous task. Bravo, Casey!
Think he was using a phone for the cut in running shots. Not a full vlog camera. It does the job.
Yay!! I’ve been waiting for this upload. Proud of you Casey!! I’m inspired to add run a marathon to my bucket list now.🥇⚡️
Me too!
"Pain is weakness leaving the body" classic haha, haven't heard that one since my XC days. This is making me wanna pick back up running (even though I know my arthritic knees are quaking at the thought of it). Congrats, Casey! Not every day is a good day, but you persevered, and that shows a lot of mental strength!
Awesome video!! I was working as a bike medic and saw you pass and cheered you on. Great job-hottest NYC marathon in recorded history.
I love how many people cheered him on throughout the race. Would love to come back to NYC next year for this
So proud of you Casey🎉 i got emotional watching you and people supporting you in the crowd ! Thats awesome ! ❤️
casey achieved a 3.01.27 this year. Great to see him come back!!!!
My fave video of yours after watching you for years. As a runner I majorly respect you for the honest approach. You did it and got the medal 🥇
The irony of "I am adult" shirt and throwing his other shirt on the ground under the sofa is not lost on me. 😂
Happy to see you back in the city, nyc missed you, you captured the city perfectly! would love to see you in Queens more often, we held you down and kept you energized! Peace Casey, welcome back!
Really cool to see you out there experiencing the NY marathon. I've been working on the broadcast graphics for that event for the past couple weeks, so it's neat to see it from ground level.
I'm proud of you brother! I'm sure you won't read this, but I'm a Marine Corps Vet who has ran his fair share of Marathons, no doubt it's tough. Mile 5 was always a check point for me. You pushed through the mental games with yourself and made it happen. I've been watching you since day one, you're a huge inspiration and a genius when it comes to creativity and videography. I hope to see more of your work and that it is conducive to your family life and takes you to where you're trying to be in your life. Thanks for the years of work that I have benefited. You have truly been an inspiration.
I am so glad you are back making videos on youtube regularly! It’s sort of been a weird feeling -being a big fan of yours and getting so little content after so many years where we did. I guess we were spoiled with you generously sharing parts of your life with us.
Not only that but you really picked up where you left off. What I am saying is you did not change. Your videos have the same spirit and are edited just like they always have been.
There are so many RUclipsrs out there that copy your style and there’s a channel in particular that I’m thinking of that would’ve never got started if it wasn’t for you. Now they have over 3 million subscribers and they’ve totally changed. The money and fame got to them and their videos lack a soul. They do not even edit them themselves anymore! Even though you have no idea who I am and I think a lot of your other subscribers feel this way -I feel like you’re a friend. We feel like a friend has moved back to our neighborhood and it is really good to see you again so often. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself with us and staying the same person after all of this time and fame.
So cool that some people are sharing that they cried at some point watching this. Means that you got it, and you've got the best from it. It really is cool. Let's roll.
The dude that said: "We may be dying, but we're not dead yet" teared me up and got me getting ready for my long run today.
Really loved the editing and energy of this video. I was there and yes it was my worst marathon as well. But the best thing about this video is you captured the energy of the marathon and NYC so well.
25 seconds in and I'm already laughing because of how good the editing is. The words changing to the beat of the music at 00:17 seconds is just too good. Still so happy Casey is back.
loved being there to cheer people on for a few hours on a sunday, just what a day of people pushing themselves to the limit! congrats for getting it done casey! got emotional at that old clip of your first marathon.
Congrats! I want to run NY! I used to weigh 300 lbs and I run to keep it off. I started running at age 53 and have done 100+ races of various distances in 18 states to keep off the 150 lbs I lost. You’ve inspired me to figure out how to get into the NYC Marathon. Thanks and you finished so congrats!!
storytelling on such different level - I didnt even know that I missed these vlogs so much
