  • What does it look like when something is Broken, But Still Good? Well I think it means that some things can be perfectly imperfect in their existence. That things don't have to be any singular way in life; and I think todays movie proves that. So, this video is a dive into the 2002 movie Lilo & Stitch. Why did I make this, I don't know, I wanted to. I hope you enjoy.

I think the saddest thing is this movie was weird and unique and heartfelt, and it was successful! It made so much money! But for some reason...we didn't get more weird, unique, and heartfelt movies. Disney saw its success and went "okay back to the formula."

Lilo and Stitch is also one of the only series that every movie/show released in it is great. Disney has a habit of not making good sequals in most cases.

I loved the series and it's finale growing up. It was my absolute favorite Disney show.

When i learned people linked lilo to autism that's when the movie became that much more impactful to me, i didn't see lilo....i saw me a weird nerodivergent child that can't control myself physical, that doll always upset me i could never understand why her friends were being so mean
Then i was diagnosed with autisim and i relized alot of lilo reflected in me...i had "friends" that i tried too hard to impress just to get attention from them, then a weird little alien (in this case my best friend and partner) came along with the same issues, i love lilo and sitch because lilo and sitch is also my story too...she may not be explicitly autistic but in my head she is..and that's why i love this movie
When sitch said "its little and broken but still good....yeah still good" it felt like hewas talking to me, I'm little and broken but I'm still good... I'm still good...

I think that's it's crazy on how little views and comments this video has. This movie was one that meant so much to me growing up and you did it so much justice in this video. I adore you videos and I hope that you get a bigger audience soon cause you deserve it so much 💕

I'm thrilled you enjoyed it! Its a movie that holds a special place in my own heart, and I found getting to dive into the 'making of' process to be super interesting and well documented compared to other animated movies. You're very kind I try not to think much on the views cause its all for fun anyway but its very nice of you to say that :) I'm glad I could do the movie justice

Thank you for making such a great video about one of my favourite movies of all time. I didn't quite realise why I loved it so much, but your encapsulation really captures elements that I am so drawn towards with this movie. I think another big part of this movie is expectations, both from others and yourself. Sometimes, you genuinely think you are a monster, but thankfully you have people in your life to show you that you can walk down a path of compassion and kindness. Great video once again, thanks!

Ah, this movie, my absolutely favorite movie i watched growing up and today, as an 27 years old adult, still holds better than kid me remember.
Lilo is easily my favorite protagonist, period. She's quirky but not in the "modern" way, she has her flaws and want to become better, her relation with stitch is almost like a yin and yang, but the same thing, as you described.
I will be bold and say that i never seen a movie like lilo and stitch being made from disney ever since, or ever before it, the closest i can think about is "meet the robinsons", but it has more focus on the zany chaos of a bright future than its strong message of its later acts, while lilo and stitch has a concise story from start to end.
I want to also say how well treated this world was, to the first and second movie, and even for the tv show, they respected the dynamic of lilo and stitch very well, and while the production and storyboard quality wasn't the same, it was good enough for child me who just wanted to see more of the hawaiian kid and his alien friend adventures.
I think that my first big letdown in life was when i watched the first two episodes of the "Stitch!" anime, they removed Lilo from the story and pretended they could just re-tell what they already did, even as a kid i felt that it was just... wrong. Lilo and Stitch are two faces of the same coin, you can't just take out Lilo and leave Stitch like that, it feels empty... If you want to make a new series on the same world, have a new alien friend for the japanese girl, damnit. Doesn't help that they made stitch become aggressive and rebel like if two movies and an entire tv show didn't happen.
All in all, i thank you very much for making this video essay about lilo and stitch, i really have this series on a special place in my heart and i'm glad others can see its true magic too.
