NBA should play series more like the MLB. Three game series means fewer travel days and more in season drama. MLB needs to shorten their season by a few weeks too. Switch to 5 game series that wrap around the weekend. More days off, more strategy in each series, and Monday or Tuesday night games can be a climactic finish to a more important series. Also, interleague games should be played by away team rules.
A lot of players have said that they should keep the season duration time the same but play a 68-74 game season and eliminate all back to backs and have 3 games a week

I agree with shortening the games, but I am not okay at all with load management. These players are paided millions of dollars a season, the least they should do is play every damn game if they are healthy, even if it brutal for their bodies
Originally from Cleveland. Living in Las Vegas for 25 years now. Few years ago I buy a ticket to go see the Clip host the Cavs...lolz...Bron, Love & Kyrie all had “load management” w/ Korver legit injured. Cavs lost if wondering.
I think there's an easy way to solve this problem. Best of 3 series every week so this way only about 83% of the games on average will matter. People will still go to meaningless game 3s if they market them right, and the meaningful game 3s would be amazing.
no players should do more load management. there are 15 guys on the roster. they should all get playing time during the season more than they have historically, because you never know when someone will get injured. if you cannot enjoy the whole team then you are a shitty fan. look how clutch bench players (9-15) have been on teams like spurs and Toronto. if you can only afford to go to one game and want to see a star then you probably should not be going to games. stay home watch it on tv and save the money for necessities.
I think they should shorten the season, maybe 72ish games and be smarter with their scheduling. I think they should have divisions go against each other. The Atlantic(East) division will have a 5 game road trip against the pacific(west) division teams so there is minimal travel for a week and a half. I also think reducing playoff games and ending the season in mid-May would help players. There’s no need to have half the conference make the playoffs. The 1-4 seeds typically win the championship so it is unnecessary to have more teams in the playoffs.
The NBA starts around the MLB postseason and goes straight through the NFL season. I’ll watch 100+ Giants games a year and every 49ers game, and so I straight up don’t have time to watch NBA.
longer season less games, I truelyy believe its a players league because the time period between games is so short, if you had a longer period between games the coaches and strategy would play a bigger part of the game and you would get more upsets and underdogs winning, currently its just the best players win 9/10 times the 1/10 being the day they sat out.
In 16 years of his career, LeBron has had 3 seasons with under 70 games, 2011 (62), 2014 (69), and last year 2018 (55). Dont be telling me load management is common with bron bron
160+ games and half of those games are in 90-100 degree heat definitely gives baseball credit in this conversation. And being a catcher is definitely more brutal on the body than any basketball players has had to endure.
Isn’t the difficulty of the nba is that it’s a marathon not a sprint? So basically taking out more obstacles so only the most elite players when because they are always healthy and never tired. All the HOF and every single superstars before did 82 games no problem. Players that do load management and aren’t actually hurt are just soft and can’t compete the same way other players can.
The game wasn't nearly as fast paced now as it was even just a decade ago, just because things were done one way in the past doesn't mean that is always the best way of doing things.
Less money for the owners means less money for the players. Not going to happen unless money remains relatively the same or increases. I don't see it happening but if they could start in Mid September, still play 82 but more rest in between games. But that risks fans at home not watching as much. I'm sure there's a way to shorten it without hurting the bottomline of the league as a whole, but I don't see it happening unless something forces the league to make a change for the betterment of the players and both owners and players willingly take a pay cut, but we all know that ain't happening
Shorten the season you want have as many injuries to heal over 82 games…What good is 82 games when the best is out with injuries etc…, for 12 of the season games on average…then the bench plays, until the star is back…SO, why not play the bench more now. The company (NBA) always thinks the workers can do more. 72 or 68 games will help. The best will find a way to load manage. Just as employees will find a way. Stop being corporate America. That was years ago…listen to yourself. When you start a sentence with years ago….
How have we not talked about bringing baseball games down to 6 innings and the schedule to 100 games. Most players can't even play in 130 let alone 162. Or honestly we could just cancel the league.
All of his points are valid and might even make for a better sport. But it will never happen for 1 main reason (outside of $$). And that is history and records ... if you shorten the season every season record a player has will be forever cemented and all new records will be started. Fans hate this, we want to see these 30 year records broken etc ..
The NBA, NHL, and MLB all need shorter seasons. They are all watered down. This is why the NFL is king. All the games matter and Sunday is football day. If a penguins game is on and i miss it no big deal there is another in 2 days.

160+ games and half of those games are in 90-100 degree heat definitely gives baseball credit in this conversation. And being a catcher is definitely more brutal on the body than any basketball players has had to endure.
Braden White NBA players claim their better athletes now, more durable, yet they sit out games more than ever before.
Just A Black Atheist sick league
"Now granted... we have to pay the bills"
The NBA is too long After March madness I’m through with basketball. The NBA doesn’t end till June I’ve totally fucking forgot about The NBA
Economy is shit is another reason attendance is down, but your not supposed to know that. The masses are struggling more now than ever.
Make it 6 innings 82 season then maybe people might watch it
It may be gassers but it’s fun so it makes it easier. I’m 300 pound o line man that also plays hockey 😂
All of his points are valid and might even make for a better sport. But it will never happen for 1 main reason (outside of $$). And that is history and records ... if you shorten the season every season record a player has will be forever cemented and all new records will be started.
Fans hate this, we want to see these 30 year records broken etc ..
NHL players never heard that shit
Extend the roster like baseball
I had that same thing happen for me when I was going to see him play in Milwaukee...4 hour car right of bitching...
Yes, start at Christmas
I realized they should shorten it the other day
Not bad idea i like it, alot of nba games are low effort looking would force them to play harder.
Yes it’s too much. I only watch the final 4. It’s too much to the point that many games don’t matter.
derrick rose got hurt because of his landing tendences not his lack of load management
Players better be ready to take less money
Me and my dad went to a blazers vs lakers game in Portland and I saw like 12 blazer fans no sh!t
That's why so many first year players cant finish the season. Shorten the season.
I thought they play on Christmas only.
Hockey players work harder, same amount of games. NBA is soft.
Hockey you sub alot more and you are on skates. Im more of a hockey person but the nba is def harder.
Yeah, two games between 2 teams in and out
Just cut the NBA out entirely
Shorten the playoffs. 2 months, 2 months of playoff games.
never go full cowherd
Impractical Jokers movie??? Bet!!!
Yes 4 games against your division , 3 against your conference, 2 against non conference. Aka 16 + 30+ 30 = 76 game season. Keeps the same time frame
The NBA, NHL, and MLB all need shorter seasons. They are all watered down. This is why the NFL is king. All the games matter and Sunday is football day. If a penguins game is on and i miss it no big deal there is another in 2 days.
yes
Cut it down from 82 games to 70
What about the NHL
Same thing happened to when I went to see Lebron 😂
Hell no not with all that guaranteed money
Don't have half the teams make the playoffs either
just get rid of the NBA
I had no idea the NBA had started. Wait? The lakers are winning and the Warriors are losing? What's happening?
David Carroll yup. The warriors are losing Kay and curry for a while and letting the young players play more
Who cares. Basketball is boring. Oh look someone scored .............. again.
