*Great tool for the price, smooth transition lock **MyBest.Tools** and release for angle cuts. Would recommend to anyone interested in a non-telescoping miter*
As someone else noted, this comes with a 10mm wrench behind the blade. Any 10mm socket wrench or box wrench will work. The plastic guard should have a locking mechanism, but doesn't-- use a piece of tape at the start to hold it out of the way.
Now changing the blade and replacing brushes from another video will make my saw like new. Thanks for making this Hitachi blade change video. Great accents.
I will add that as a small woman frequently DIYing alone I had to tape down the blade lock in order to have both hands to untighten and then adequately re-tighten the main blade bolt. The socket wrench was a necessity for me to manage it. Thanks from Nebraska.
Hey Buddy. Thanks for the video as I just changed the blade for my Hitachi C10FCH2. However a few things I want to mention: The Hitachi C10FCH2 comes with a socket wrench that can be used to tighten/loosen the bolt, also it greatly helps with access if you remove the screws for the metal guard.
Thanks guys, I just got this exact saw and was reading the instructions...which suck with very few diagrams! Now I can do this no problem. :) Time for some great DIY projects!!
Hitachi includes a 10mm wrench with the saw. The wrench is accessed from the rear of the saw. It is below and to the right of the green handle assembly underneath the black handle used to carry the tool when it's in the locked position. The supplied wrench fits the bolt head precisely. There is absolutely no reason to use any other tool to loosen this bolt.
Right, i came to this video confused how to lock the blade in place to unscrew the bolt, but i had already found the included socket wrench before coming here. Even my cheap porter cable 5" battery hand saw came with one. ditto every other keyed tool i've ever used, they all came with some kind of key or wrench to help me service the cutting pieces
The saw blade guard can be locked out of the way when the blade is being changed. Move the saw blade guard all the way back and then insert the bolt that was removed when you installed the handle on the front of the saw or a short dowel. Place the bolt or dowel in the opening at the end of the metal arm on the side of the plastic blade guard. After the bolt or dowel is inserted begin the procedure to change the saw blade. The guard will stay out of the way while the blade is being changed. My saw came with a wrench to change the saw blade it was attached to the saw beside the black carry handle. I hope that this will help make changing the saw blade much easier.
thanks for this heads up, i had tried to service this saw before first use to change out the blade and had missed how to hold that guard in place. I waited on getting help as long as possible as the goal was to DIY the whole thing if possible
Thanks for the tip that the it's REVERSE threaded! I'm a female at 110lbs. and I was about to call in the calvary to come help me, but then you mentioned that it was reverse threaded! Doh! Got it right away-thanks so much. And as to the comment above, what does the guy want you to wear-a tuxedo?!! LOL :-)
Would you be willing to show how to adjust the bevel with this saw? I just bought one and I'll be damned if I can get the stupid thing to adjust at all. I'm sure I'm missing something super easy.
The owners manuals for Hitachi miter saws are the worst, and that is taking in a lot of competition. It seems as if they went out of their way to hire someone to do the manuals that has never used a tool in their life. The other qualification they looked for was someone who failed an English as a second language course. My blade hits the green plastic clearance insert on the table, any idea how to adjust that? i would think it's a blade adjustment, but the manual is of no help whatsoever. Any help, thanks!
Ok, so this may not be the most “professional” vid out there but you know what? It got the job done for me! Thanks guys for your effort!!
13 years since this video was posted and it still helps 👏

thanks guys. entertaining too. appreciate your time to help others.
There may be some details missed (no pliers!) but I got my blade changed in 5 minutes instead of an hour, Thanks guys!

Fantastic! You made this so much easier than trying to interpret the manual.

Thanks guys - made changing the blade easy. Yes, 10MM wrench is the key.
Thanks guys. Good instructional video. Without it i would have removed the blade guard and turned the nut the wrong way.
Reverse threaded.... Huge help!!
More helpful than the guys at Home Depot who just told me to "unscrew it" . Thanks a million!

thanks Lee, nice of you to take the time to add these details - just what I needed.

Thank you for posting this! I "think" I can do it now on mine.
good video...any chance you could show me how to reassemble the safety shield? Mine had to come off and now I can't remember the reassembly procedure.
Helpful! Thanks fellas!!
Thanks ... Worked like a charm.
Thank you! You're video was super helpful!
Cool ! Thanks guys.
Very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks u showed every step at least
very helpful the lock and knowing revers thread. i bought it used.

Is there a logical reason why Hitachi made this reverse thread? I nearly stripped the bolt trying to loosen it.
Bruce Wayne All miter saws' arbor bolts are reverse-threaded.
how long do you stare at wood before you cut?
Its even easier if you use the attached tool in the handle for unscrewing the nut on the blade

Probably worth mentioning that you should unplug the saw before doing this.
How to operate a hitachi C10FCH2 MITER SAW
Might want to unplug it first.
