I have had this exact same Ryobi mitre saw for about 3 years and after watching your tutorial I finally have my mitre saw aligned correctly. Thank You so much.
The detents have a little play, and you need learn how work with that variation. I gently nudge to the left after selecting the detent, then gently synch it in place. It is what it is.
BEST miter saw adjustment video on youtube, very easy to understand, my saw has gotten a little out of whack over the years and this will help tremendously! thanks for posting
Thanks so much!!!!! I tried several RUclips videos on how to fix this 3 weeks ago and it was a total fail. Today thought I’d try again…. It worked…..THANKS SO MUCH, now on with the home renovation !
Thanks thanks thanks mate. I had my miter saw nearly 5 years but i couldn't do a perfect cut until i see your video. Its great helpful and clear instruction. Thank you so so much. Xxxxx
Holy crap, thanks for making this! I have this same model and I didn't use it for quite a while and when I was last using it regularly, it was just to trim up some stock and nothing that needed to be terribly precise. I got it out about two weeks ago to start a project and was getting terrible cuts in both dimensions so each corner of the 2x4 was a different length. Hard to butt joint with that. Followed all the steps in your video thinking it was in need of a tune up but none of it solved it as it was only slightly off. It wasn't until you mentioned blade warping that I found my issue! Not sure how long I would have assumed it was the tool before thinking of checking that. Getting perfect cuts now, thank you so much!
Nice video demo. My fence is off about 1/16" in the center like an arc..(i.e. center of left and right adjustment screws. throwing my cuts off. adjusting left and right side does nothing. Should I toss it? or is there a fix? (i can fix it with shims) but its annoying!😁
I had the same fence issue and just solved it! The best thing to do is cut the fence in half into two separate pieces. That horseshoe shaped piece in the middle isn't necessary and it's just holding you back. After you cut the fence into two pieces pick either the left side or the right side and square it up with the blade. Once it's perfect, use a straight edge (a level works well) to align the other fence in a straight line with the fence on the other side. Then you're all done and the fence will be perfect on both sides of the blade.
I cant add anything that hasnt been said already !!!!!!!!!!!! AWESOME DEMO AND BREAKDOWN!!!!!!!!!!! And thank goodness for NO ANNOYING MUSIC. Thank you very much... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for the great tutorial! My "new to me" miter saw was cutting a bit crooked while making a short table for my mini fridge. The bevel setting was little off, maybe from transporting it. I didn't realize there was an adjustment there!
Excellent tutorial. Just bought a sliding mitre saw, and as it comes with only one clamp, I was searching for another one, without any luck. now I know I can use the clamps I already have in order to clamp both sides. TY. I will check out all the other angles to ensure they are straight.
Didn't think about the blade being warped. Got me a harbor freight miter saw I'm gonna adjust. Somewhere my cuts are off because my diagonals on the stand I built are about a quarter inch off. I'm thinking my bevel was slightly off. Thanks
Thank you so much for this information! Your clear and practical instructions saved me buying a whole new saw. I followed your advice and with my saw recalibrated, I built a pergola that went together effortlessly. Thank you!
Brilliant wee video, expertly explained and well executed… I knew a couple of things to try out, but your tutorial showed me a few more, important ones at that… Cheers for taking the time, and explaining how to, in your video…. 👍👍
Hey there! THANK YOU for this video! In a world of DeWalts, & Makitas it's awesome to see someone post a video using a Ryobi. My saw was square coming out of the box Christmas 2021. But if I need to know how to tune it up I've got you to thank for it. Great info! Great content and not a bunch of unnecessary chatter. If you're ever in the St. Louis area, I'm buying you dinner and drinks. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. - Louis
Your explanation for this was awesome I didn’t realize the fence was adjustable like that. I thought my new 18v ryobi miter saw was bent from shipping or something 🤣
Watched a couple videos and both gave good coverage of what to do if the fence is not square. What do you do if the combination square says the blade is out of square? Is there a blade adjustment?
Thank you for mentioning the blade can be warped. I have been watching many videos to see what it was I was doing wrong in squaring my saw.. and I just didn't understand why it wasn't cutting straight. I told someone I thought it was the blade and they just thought I was doing something wrong. Well I got fed up and took the blade off and come to find out... It was VERY warped. Just from being locked into an older u square saw I think. As well as being stored incorrectly. But it was barely used. Anyway. No other video has mentioned this, that I've watched. Thanks for helping me to feel less crazy haha Nice instructions! -L
Great instructions and video angles. I've been putting off doing this but couldn't tell where the 2nd set of screws were--under the sliding fence just like you said! It took me a little while to get it just right but I can finally make a square cut. Thanks man.
An easy sub. Glad I found your channel and thank you very much for your content. Authentic and great videos. You solved a problem of squaring a miter I couldn’t find anywhere else.
Great video! What do you do if the notches for the angle adjustments are wrong? I was cutting some baseboards and the 45 angles are not accurate. They're like a degree off every time!
My saw fell while attached to a cheap saw table (harbor freight) it never cut straight again. I will try all of these to see if if I can fix the problem. Thank you 😊
My Ryobi was impossible to square up because the back fence was bowed, so I could get one side of the fence perfect but not the other. But I just found a solution! I cut the fence into two separate pieces. Then all you have to do is square up one side of the fence with the blade, then when it's perfect use a straight edge to set the other side of the fence in line with the other side. This has bothered me for years and I'm glad I finally figured out a solution.
I have a brand new Ryobi compound miter saw that has a problem not mentioned here at all. The slider arm appears not to be squared with the table. the fence is square to the table, but if you lower the blade at the rear, it is pretty well centered in the groove, but if you bring the blade forward on the slide rails it come close to one of the sides of the groove. Any pointers on getting this fixed? it's only about 1/2 a degree off, but if you need something really square it's horrible.
@@Caliber8Tools not unless it happened during shipping to the store, but the box was in perfect condition. I guess taking the fence out of square may solve the issue, but the OCD in me HATES that solution. Also if I use a blade with a bigger kerf it may actually hit the wall of the groove, when fully extended :/ Unfortunately it's been just over a month since I purchased and only just started using for anything requiring much accuracy.
It’s a reach but, could be the groove itself is not square, but that’s definitively a manufacturing issue. If it’s not a blade issue and assuming it didn’t get banged up in transit then it’s probably the former. May have to replace it.
Hi there! I was wondering if by any chance you would be able to help me with my situation. I’ve got this sliding mitre saw which is aligned in every possible way but one which I really can’t find a logic or a reason. Bevel, fence, blade and table are perfectly square, the blade is new… yet if I slide the saw to the far end while holding the speed square flush, the blade just goes slightly away from the speed square. At first I thought it is something to do with the fence adjustment but I kept fiddling with it with no success. Any idea? I’d really appreciate if you could help. Cheers!
I have Chicago Electric saw and small wood cuts weren’t cutting straight. Did all the tips, all were 100%. Then took a level and saw it wasn’t truly level. Flipped the machine upside down and noticed one of the rubber bottom pieces were missing- removed all 3 and now we’re totally level.
Excellent job creating this video, clear explanations & nailing the views you were explaining. Your very knowledgeable & I have become a subscriber. Thanx! 👍👍
Brand new saw exactly as yours. Everything is square but can't cut straight. I might have to adjust the rails from the right angle to get it cutting straight. Also, missing hex wrench. Damn Ryobi!
Bought this bran new and its cutting the green plastic below the blade and I was going to throw it out until I watched this so ty for putting this out there I will try this tomorrow and maybe it won't get thrown out lol.
It’s called a dual bevel saw. The blade angles can adjust to the left or the right as opposed to a single bevel saw which can only adjust to one side. As far as accounting for blade width, not sure that’s an issue with the bevel but good question. I’ll look it up.

Do you have any issues when using the sliding feature? I have this saw and everything is setup square but if I slide at all the cut isn't even remotely close to square
When my blade is in the down and back position my blade is in the middle of the throat plate(yellow/green plastic guide that the blade slides back and forth in) but when I slide my saw forward my blade pinches against the left side of the throat plate when it gets to the end of the forward slide. So my blade is not centered in the throat plate. How do I adjust that?? The blade is square to the fence and the blade is square to the table, and both miter positions are locked at zero.
Was it like this when you bought it or first used it? Did it fall? Many factors to consider. A bent sliding rail that starts out square but finishes skewed. The bevel set at a false zero etc. ???
@@Caliber8Tools Yes it was like this out of the box. The sliding saw section seems to be misaligned with the throat plate. They should be factory aligned. Not seeing a way to adjust that as it seems to be a factory defect. I will call Ryobi support and see what they say.

My new dewalt miter saw has two bevel guides (left and right side) if one is zero, the other is 1. Is that to account for blade width?
